Good Evening:

It's been beautiful here for a few days but it wasn't until today that I went outside. There were several errands to take care of and rather than spread them out over a few days I decided to stay outside and get them done today.

Do you all have homeowner's or apartment insurance? I got an email from my agent a couple of weeks ago. She said to have photos of our homes, especially valuable things. That way if there is a fire or tornado you have proof that you had it. I went over today with my IPad and gave them over 40 photos of the interior of my home.

Ladies, I want to thank you all for sharing your experiences and those of your loved ones who have undergone surgery. I've come to feel it should only be used as a last resort. Truly, in my case it was elective and I finally elected not to go through with it.

Going to enjoy THE BIG BANG tonight. Any of you watch it. I think it's a stitch!

Sweet dreams tonight everyone.

Gail

Gail so glad you have come to a decision about you shoulder that brings you peace! I agree with the others. My Mom had a knee replacement surgery years ago. The Dr assured her, it would cure the pain. After the surgery and she told the Dr it didn't change anything he told her, of course not, we don't give you a new knee cap and that was where her pain was coming from! Mom was so disappointed she went through all that for "nothing gained" and in the long run at the end of her life she got an infection in that knee and was on horribly strong antibiotics. She never did get well. We live and learn and if we learn from others mistakes I think we have a much better life!

Val hope you get some rest and don't have to work in the dept you don't like for a long time again!

Pat you do keep going and going. I hope the gardens are doing well for you.

Sherry thanks for keeping the lists current. I see you have made the May Chat. I will copy this post and put it there too. Glad you and your Aunt had a good visit!

Lisa and Nan - emoticon

My DDil's Grandfather passed this week. It has been a long and hard week. He had a stroke 3 yr ago and got better but then reached a plateau and then declined more and more. He was 84 and had a good life and lots of family that loved him.

I hope I haven't forgotten anyone. Hope Everyone has a great weekend! Am making progress here at the house so what to keep moving in the right direction so that gives me less computer time. Hugs to you all!!

Gail, I'm very happy that you've made a decision about your shoulder that you're comfortable with. It sounds like the surgery wouldn't really improve what my late husband called your QOL (Quality Of Life) in any significant way so I'm with you, why bother? I have a separated shoulder that should have been operated on 25 years ago (but wasn't) and sometimes it gives me a lot of trouble. But I don't want to have surgery on it unless it gets a LOT worse. I didn't want to give you that advice, figured you needed to get to it yourself if that was the way you were going to go. Are you going to have surgery on both of your eyes, or just on one? I hope that goes very well for you.

I didn't sleep well at all last night and then today I worked in my bad department and had some problems to try to deal with. I just hate the chemistry analyzers, much prefer my microscopes...Oh well. It's over. emoticon It's getting warm here. Our high temperatures have been in the 70s and I wish they'd just stay close to these for the rest of the summer. Won't happen, but I can always wish...Anyway, I'd better try to get more sleep tonight. Have a great Thursday.

There was much rejoicing!

Had a wonderful time with my Aunt today. It is always good to catch up and spend time with her.

Gail, I am really proud of you. That had to be a hard decision to come to but, the right one in the long haul. If you feel relief then you have done the right thing. You will be able to sleep better.

I have been dealing with allergies all day which is causing me to have one of my migraines. The cottonwood is starting to bloom and that always gets to me. So, I will say goodnight for now.

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening.

Gail I know you were very thorough in your decision to not have the surgery and Bill would tell you it might help some but there are a lot of days he regrets doing it. The cataract surgery will be a lot less hassle (praying you don't have an issue with it as that is what left Bill with no vision in his left eye as he develop cystoid macular edema) but the right eye surgery went well but dr cautioned him to not do it until he had practically no vision as he had a 50% chance of the same thing happening with it. Thank God it didn't!! I just know you heaved a huge sigh of relief once you made this decision.

Sandy I agree with you, the less I go to the store, the less I spend there! I avoid W-Mart until I just have to go because I always end up spending more than I intended! Hope things work out to have lunch with your aunt.

No rain today so after our respective walks, Vickie and I dug up some plants that a resident wanted to donate and then got them planted. That took care of our morning as the bed we put most of them in used to have hedge at the back and we had ROOTS that we had to dig up and cut out! We still need a few low plants to fill in the front of the bed but it looks pretty good as it is and after it is mulched it will look even better! We ended up putting the donated plants in 4 different beds and now hope that they make it.

Our tech finally made it today a little after noon to service our reverse osmosis system so that is taken care of for another year It is all the little things that need attention that keep things running smoothly.

I made Abbie's annual appointment to get her shots updated and a well check for next week. It is time to renew her license but I can't do it until I have proof of her rabies shot. I do not like to do it early as I believe too many vaccines are not good so try to keep her on an annual schedule. When she was a puppy she got 2 rabies shots accidentally and I always worried about that. Some vets say we over vaccinate our pets anyhow but as long as I go to a groomer, I have to keep her shots up to date.

We have been trying to get our house power washed all week but rain complicated things first of the week and now the gal who is to do it just let us know her mom went in the hospital and is in ICU so not sure when it will get done. She just lost her dad about 6 mo ago so she is really concerned about her mom.

Gail, that must have been a very difficult decision. I'm glad you feel good about it, though. That really would have been a let down to get through it and then find out that your range of motion has not improved; glad you found that out before. My SO, Tom, had 2 surgeries last year that were like that. The drs. were convinced that he needed them, but we saw no improvement in any area of his health afterwards. Very frustrating.

Good Morning:

After thinking it over very seriously I decided to cancel the shoulder operation. It all boils down to quality of life and whether the risks outweigh the potential benefits. Right now, though I do have limited range of motion of my left shoulder, I usually do not have pain if I don't move it out of range. This past winter the pain was more frequent and I did have some really terrible episodes BUT with a dose or two of ibuprofen the pain subsided. In my pre-op visit I learned that though I wouldn't have pain, I wouldn't have any significant improvement in my range of motion. That was a huge disappointment. Also, the recovery is long and I'd be on antibiotics for several months. Not good. I have anaphylaxis to sulfa and penicillin and some side effects to other antibiotics. My fear is I could develop an allergy to yet another antibiotic and then where would I be? The operation is major surgery and as such there are always risks, even if they are small. I knew of a heart surgery case that had a 97% success rate and this fellow was part of the 3% and died. You never know. I have discussed this with my daughter and son and and they think this is a good decision. Frankly, I'm relieved. Now I'll just attend to the cataract surgery.

Thank you all for your support.

Many hugs,

Gail

Well, I got to the store today. I only go every 2 weeks and I do pretty good. I do have to pick up milk and water once in a while. But, other than that I don't have to go. It has been drizzling all day so have not been able to get anything done outside today.

Pat - Don't blame you one bit for not going out when there are thunder storms. Glad that you have been able to get so much done.

Hope that everyone is having a great day.

Sandy we are nearly thru with our spring planting-have one bed to finish and hopefully will get it done this week-raining till Thur though so slowing us down. In Florida you really are careful about rain-so much lightning down here I just don't take chances. I wish we had gotten it finished before the rain. We had someone tell me I can take up plants they have so hopefully won't have to buy anything else. Then just have to get our maintenance man to finish the mulching! Can't do that in the rain either.
We have had rain off and on and it is to continue thru Wed. I have been doing inside projects since I can't get outside. Today the tech is to come and service our reverse osmosis.

Hi Friends,
Pat you are right, that pets feel it too. The puppy was really stressed when she wasn't doing well. After she passed you could see his relief. Then he realized she was gone and just laid around for a couple days. DS's puppy is helping him enjoy life again. Oh were they excited to see one another! It is so cute!

Sandy sorry you are so busy and can't get to the store. I know that feeling!

Hugs to all and glad I made it back today!

DG - So sorry that you lost your sheltie. Pet's are so much like family.

Pat - How is the gardening going?

Gail - How are you doing my dear? I know your surgery is coming up.

Vali - How was you time off? I know you had a short one. Have you found an apartment yet?

Penny - How are you doing on the meds?

Well, it was suppose to be 70 degrees and sunny today. But, when I got up this morning it was overcast and drizzling. It is now still a little overcast but, the sun is starting to pop though. But, it doesn't feel like 70. I am trying to get things together to go to the store. But, as usually things keep popping up that need my attention. If I don't make it today I will go tomorrow. I will get it done. I just keep on plugging a long. Will meet up with my Aunt this week so that we can have our Lamb chops at Happy Hour.

Hope everyone is have a great start to there week.

Well Dear Friends, I have not disappeared off the face of the earth. My Dear Sheltie hung on until Wednesday evening. We got her buried in the back yard before the storms came through. We miss her and it is hard to break the habit of watching for her under foot. ;-) The puppy was nervous until she passed. He is doing better now. Also DS came home yesterday and left his German Shepherd with us so the puppies are having a grand time. DS has a class away from home and will be back to get his dog in 2 weeks.

Val glad work has been going so well for you especially with a place that isn't the most comfortable!

Pat hope you can get some help. Gardening is fun but you do it non stop and anything gets old after awhile. Sorry your breakfast group dwindles as snow birds return home for the summer.

Gail praying for your surgery and for all to go well. Glad you found some clothing easy to get in and out of and have meal planning and prep well under way. So sorry to hear your DH lost all his family in the holocaust. Read some stories on fb about it today. 3 babies were born and survived just as the war was coming to an end. They went to a holocaust survivor anniversary celebration and all learned they had been born at the same place close to the same time. Their mothers all survived too but they each lost their dad. Such a heart ache that people can do such horrible things to others.

Penny glad you have stayed with our group! ;-)

Sandy you amaze me with your positive attitude and outlook. Glad you and your Aunt have such special times together.

Hugs to all and hope you have a great weekend. I will try to stay in touch better. ;-)

Sandy good that you keep on things-sure makes month end a lot easier on you. Glad you got to have a relaxing Sunday. Those are nice.
We were invited to go out on the lake today but decided to run some errands instead as weather was supposed to be rainy. Well, it sprinkled a little bit but that was it.
I did a shorter walk this morning thinking I needed to get it in so we could go before the rain-well, I didn't mind as it was already hot and humid before 8 am. I sure hope the weatherman got it right and it really does cool down in the coming week.

Relaxing today and taking it easy. Worked on the books and all caught up on them. emoticon I have been starting them early and then do them as they come in and it works much better. DS is working so it gives me time to myself and I can get a lot done. I am fixing a roast for dinner. The left overs DS fixes for sandwiches.

Weather here is pretty crazy today we are excepting a little of everything today - thunder, lighting, hail, rain and even some sun. We have some really dark clouds moving in right now. But, the sun is popping out of the clouds right now. Have the flash lights ready. The wind is to pick up too later. It's not blowing too bad right now. So, with that said I am staying in.

Will meet up with my Aunt tomorrow if the weather is good. Don't like her out in that kind of weather.

Hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Sandy glad you had a good checkup at the dentist. With what it costs there you sure always hope to not need any special care or the $$$ racks up!!

I went for my laser treatment yesterday and it went well. The dr's in the office are a husband and wife team and this time the wife did my treatment. I will have to go in 2 months instead of 6 for my next treatment. She told me things will just suddenly improve so.....that day needs to come sooner rather than later for me.

Bill and a couple of his friends went to a big rig truck show this morning. I worked in the park gardens after my walk. Things look pretty good. Hopefully Vickie & I can finish the last bed next week. It is supposed to be cooler and rain is predicted so it should be a good time to plant.

Yes, they have reimbursed me about $200 plus this time for all the problems that I have been having with the cable. So I am happy about that.

Went to the Dentist today and had a great check up. My appt. was at 10 am and I was to get up at 8 am. So, I woke up and I thought the clock said 8:45 am and I jump out of bed and started to run round the house to get ready. Then I looked over at the clock again and I saw it said 7:30 am. So , what I read was 6: 45 am not 8:45 am. emoticon I went down and fell asleep for a little while before my appt.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Sandy got my fingers and toes crossed that this was the lucky time and this tech finally fixed your problem. I agree with Gail-they should be giving you some sort of credit for all the issues you have had.

Val hope that things went well today and you are still smiling and upbeat!! emoticon

Gail glad you were able to find some items. I do hope you can find someone close to help you. If your one neighbor is willing to do it in the mornings and won't take money maybe you could give her some gift cards to stores or restaurants she could use. I won't take pay for puppy sitting but friends do give us gift cards to eat out as they know we do that often and that I will accept. Same way with Abbie's sitters, I give her Aunt Barb gift cards to the grocery store, Wal-Mart and JoAnn's as I know she can use those as they aren't ones to go out to eat. Do you have any teenagers who would like to earn some money near you? Hope you can work out something that won't be so costly.

Yes, I do enjoy the finance committee work. I was an accounting manager in my "past life". so this is my wheelhouse. I have also been asked to be on the long range planning committee and will likely accept that also. It isn't like an every day job-we meet several times a year for a couple of hours and I am the secretary for the finance committee.

Today I went for my 2nd laser treatment. The podiatrist told me it is going to take time and to not get discouraged. I have to go for another treatment in 2 months and the way she talked I will likely be going every 2 months for several treatments.

We met with friends and they got us into BJ's and I picked up a couple of items there before we ate lunch and then headed home. They will be on their way back to NY this time next week. Not many of our snowbird friends left.

Had a great lunch yesterday and afterward went to the thrift store to buy some things I will be able to get into and out of easily when my arm is in a sling. Got four things. With what I already have that will be enough. I'm not going out much and I won't be able to drive for a while, so I can keep wearing the same stuff over and over.

On another matter I'm looking to find someone in the neighborhood who could help me dress in the morning and undress in the evening. My neighbor across the street said she could come in the AMs but if I can pay some one I'd feel better. (My neighbor wouldn't take money from me and I really don't want to box her in.) Getting someone from a service is very expensive, and if I wind up needing help for 6 weeks well... you can imagine. The least expensive is $34 per hour with a minimum of 1 hour. Twice a day, 7 days a week for 6 weeks...well that's $2866 for six weeks. ($64/ day x7 days x6 weeks =$2866) I'm hoping I'll be able to cope by myself, but....

Gail

Val: Hope you don't have a hard time with the least favorite dept.

Sandy: Have you asked the cable company to adjust your bill since you haven't been getting service? Here they do that.

Pat: You like working on the finance committee? Do you pay HOA fees?

Nan: Is it all clothing you're donating, or have you other items as well?

Penny: How are you doing today. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Well tomorrow I'm going to work in my not best department again...we'll see if I still sound upbeat after work tomorrow. (Friday.) I hope I'll feel that way, but it's hardly guaranteed. emoticon On Saturday I'll be working for a few hours with a coworker whose last day is Monday. I'm going to give her a card, and I'm going to put a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card in it. I have a credit card that gives me one of those every time I spend (I'm not sure how much) money on it. At Christmas I gave her a gift card and told her to buy some books for her son. Then either in the very last hours of last year or the very first hours of this year she had another baby. I'm going to give her another one of those cards and tell her to buy some more books for her kids.

We're supposed to get rain tomorrow (well, later today, but for me it's not tomorrow until after I've gone to sleep and woken back up...) and on Sunday and Monday. In fact, according to the weather program I keep pinned to my desktop, it should be starting to rain any time now...I'll believe it if I see it. (Sometimes I sort of feel like rain is a myth. emoticon )

I think I need to go to sleep soon so I'll just have to "talk" to all of you later. Have a fabulous Friday. emoticon

Well, Finally good news with the cable. They sent a really nice guy that installs the cable and he followed the line all the way back to the main street and checked it there and found nothing. Then came up to the next junction box and found that some of the wires were loose, so he fixed that all up. Then rechecked our box again. Which of course was good. He did say that he found a lot of error message and problems that have happen but, weren't altered to the main office which isn't good. So, He hopes that he fixed it but, he left me his number to contact him if I have any. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that he fixed the problem. The guy said the in just out area he notice that within the pasted week there has been a lot of problems and outages.

My allergies have been really bad so I took it easy today. I have a Dental appt. for teeth cleaning tomorrow at 10am. We finally got mail service back to the house again and have some really nice strong mail boxes. We are finally getting back to normal.

Had a nice meeting with DH's sponsor today. He explained about DH's set back and said it sometimes happens especially since there is a Family history of it in his family. To DH is was a normal and what he grew up with. Now it is a change and now he is really wanting to and really trying. He said he is doing much better. It was a really good meeting and I felt really good afterwards. He has become a really good friend.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend! I am going to relax and get some good rest and watch the rain come down and watch some old movies this weekend. Have fun everyone!

Val you do sound very upbeat. Glad to hear that in your posting.

Sandy hope the new person gets onto things quickly-sorry that DH's friend is going to leave you in the lurch the end of May. So hard to find someone who is willing to work - just showing up every day seems to be a major feat these days!!

Gail how nice that your garage is getting emptied out and you will have more room in there and help to clean out more-that is great. Then to end the day you get to go out-what more can you ask for. We are to go out this evening to celebrate Sonny's birthday.

Thank you ladies for your concern. I do not plan to weed in the excessive heat this summer. As I am on the finance committee, I did get them to allocate money in the budget to pay someone to weed and either they can use it or things aren't going to look very nice! I have given up on getting any new volunteers-I do wonder what will happen when I decide I do not want to do this anymore and that day is coming.

I walked at 6 am as we left for Thursday breakfast at 7:40. We only had 9 this week and 3 of them will be leaving by the end of this week so our numbers are dwindling fast. We will probably suspend going in another week or so until fall.

We have had rain showers off an on today-go figure-lowest chance of rain and today we get some!! I did manage to get my own roses deadheaded between showers.

Good Morning:

Val: So glad your day at work went well. You sound very cheerful.

Penny: Boy but it's good to hear from you. Sorry that it's taking so long for you to get the medicine out of your system. As for help, do you have volunteers who help seniors in your area? Perhaps someone from your church might help out.

Sandy: Too bad the friend is going to Vegas. Hope the new trainee works out. Wondering about the saga with the cable. Will it ever end? How frustrating.

Pat: I'm with Val on the weeding. Perhaps if you let it go in one area someone might step up and take care of it.

I've been wondering how I'll manage by myself for several weeks not being able to use one arm. To simplify my life I'm planning to sleep downstairs for at least until I can shower. The first 10 days I can't get the shoulder wet because of the incision, so it'll be sponge baths for at least that long.

Yesterday volunteers came from the hospice thrift shop to take some furniture. Now there is now actually room for two cars in my garage! Someone is coming this morning to help me continue to clean out the garage and basement. This afternoon friends are taking me to a birthday lunch. Should be nice.

Gail

Penny, I'm surprised that the medication is still affecting you. I hope you get it cleared out of your system soon so that you can get back to whatever passes for normal in your life. And Pat, maybe you should try letting the weeds go sometime. You could see how long it would take for someone to volunteer to help you with that chore, or you could find out once and for all that nobody is ever going to help you voluntarily. I don't know what to suggest you do if that were to happen, but I suspect that somebody would get fed up with the weeds and take care of part of it themselves.

I had a pretty decent day at work...in spite of the fact that I was working in the department I don't get along with. We were kind of busy but almost everything worked for me so it was okay. The gal who worked in my better department today had some issues that I was able to help her with, which was nice...until it got to be an hour after time for me to go home...She got a specimen on a patient who was in our ER a couple of weeks ago but walked out against medical advice. Well this patient is hard to deal with (his specimens, he may be a very nice guy...) because he has a new undiagnosed leukemia of some sort. There's a lot of special stuff we have to do in order to be able to give results for his complete blood count, and my poor friend was the one who had to deal with all of his issues a couple of weeks ago, too. We both remembered some parts of what we did before, and my friend called the technical specialist for that area of the lab just to make sure that we got things taken care of correctly. But now it's over and I can relax for a while. emoticon (That's how that makes me feel right about now...)

I hope that the week is going well for the rest of you.

There was much rejoicing!

The Cable company said they would take a while to find out what is going on. But now that my New neighbor is having trouble it is helping me. There seems that with the cable company there are different Techs that have to come out just for the box outside. Now I am waiting for the guys who run the wires under ground the some how check the wires. It is a mess.

Gail, I love paying my bills on line it is much easier. Plus I can tell them when to send them. It is great. I am going to set up the business that way too.

It rained last night but, it's been cloudy with sun breaks all day. It is cooler which is nice for DH to work in. We just found out that his friend is leaving to go play poker in Vegas for 14 day the end of May sooooo, I am going to call the other guy to come train next week. And he was doing pretty good.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Penny I find very few who want to help with the weeding even here in the park. It is mainly Vickie & I who do it all and it is getting old. Wish we could round up some more volunteers. We do get a couple of ladies who help a little in the winter months and I am thankful for that.

Sandy it would seem they could find the issue with your cable if you and your neighbor are both having issues. Doesn't say a lot for their maint. folks.

I took the day off today after the mega planting yesterday. I walked early and then took DH for his followup with the chiropractor. Friends came about 10:45 and we went to several thrift stores and grabbed a bite of lunch out.

It is back to the grindstone tomorrow as I have several things on my to-do list that need to be done!!

It's in the 50s & very windy. Too bad to work outside. DH is going to work in the craft room & I'm going o work on the last 19 dresses I need to use the sewing machine for. that just leaves 45 to hand stitch around the bottom of the arm holes to do & I'll be finished with my pledge.

The effects from the brain medicine are fianally wearing off & I have more energy but still get dizzy once in a while.

Everything is blooming & looks bright. Now to just get caught up on all the weeding! I was hoping that I'd get some offers to do some of the weeding (kids & grandkids) but I guess no one wants to weed any more. When they were younger they all wanted to "help". Not so much any more!

Sandy: I started to pay all of my bills with auto withdrawl when Vic became ill and it's been that way since. With all the travel I was doing when I took on the great clean-up I was afraid that a bill might be due when I was away. Rather than go through the hassle, I just left things alone. Now I'm used to it I still keep things that way because I don't need to think about it. I know my income and the fixed monthly expenses so if I keep a little cushion in my checking account I don't overdraw.

Well, the cable guy came today. And he didn't find any thing but, knew that was going to happen. But, the good news is that he agrees too that it has to do with the lines in the box since my neighbors are having problems also.

I am now all set up for on-line banking. No more check writing. It is so much easier and I don't have to worry about lost checks. Afterwards I stopped by the market and picked up some water and milk to hold us over till I go to the store next week.

The rain is back. We had a beautiful day yesterday of 73 degrees and now we got up to 65 and overcast. Tonight it started raining. Can't have it all. But, at least the plants are enjoying it.

Hope that everyone is having a wonderful week.

Sandy sure hope they finally get things fixed for you-so frustrating. I managed to pop the 2 keys back on that Abbie knocked off on my laptop and it seems to be working so I am a happy camper. Then this afternoon I was trying to print the forms to renew our passports and had a printer jam and then I got nothing. I went to ask my resident computer guru to come help me but HE NEVER SHOWED UP so I just kept working and finally after I unplugged the printer it reset and I got it working so guess I am back in business

Gail how nice you will soon have all your new furniture. It truly must seem like you got a whole new house! Glad you are almost prepared for surgery.

DG so sorry to hear about your sheltie. It is almost like losing a child as our furbabies become one of the family.

Vickie & I worked most of the morning planting what we bought yesterday and moving some plants around. It started out cooler but it got a lot hotter as the morning progressed. It is looking much better. We have one more bed to finish up and we will have completed the spring planting and our maintenance man can finish the mulching. I think we will all be relieved to get this job done.

I have been making phone calls to set up appointments-waiting for calls to be returned-isn't it fun. Businesses complain that they need business but they sure take their time calling your. My primary dr supposedly sent a referral to a dermatologist as I wanted to get checked as I am out in the sun so much. I called my primary today to be sure the referral got sent as it will soon be 2 weeks and no call - they were to check on it BUT still no call!!! We have a reverse osmosis system and the filters need changed and they did return my call but now have to check with the tech as to when he can get here so....nothing set up for that either. I am trying to get things taken care of before the end of May as I will be working the month of June and it will be more difficult for me to take care of things even though I will only work part time. A retired person should not be so busy!!!

Good Afternoon:

Went to the supermarket today and picked up a lot of frozen dinners that I can put in the microwave. Don't want to use the stove with one arm in a sling; it's too dangerous. In addition to the "TV Dinners" I've been making things and freezing dishes in single or double portions. OK, so my foods won't be the best while I'm a one-armed bandit, but with salads and fruit it shouldn't be too bad.

I ordered some chairs in early February and they are being delivered this afternoon: two for the living room and one for the family room. The volunteers from hospice will come tomorrow and pick up some chairs, a sofa and some shelving for the thrift store. Things are coming together. Don't have a date yet but my family room sofa will be delivered the end of April-the beginning of May.

The weather here is cloudy and cool and will likely remain that way for the rest of the month. That's OK. I've got my wonderful sound system to listen to classical music and I'm a happy camper.

Gail

DG: So sorry about your Sheltie.

Pat: Got to tell Bill he's got to stay put. LOL

Sandy: So glad your aunt is so close to you. We are a very small family and I've only my daughter and sil in town. Vic was an only child and all his relatives were killed in the holocaust, so there's no family on that side.
Hope the cable folks finally send someone who knows which end is up. You've got to be sooo frustrated.

Happy Birthday Gail. Sorry I am late but so glad you had such a nice day!!

Getting more done and thanks again for all the encouragement and compassion.

Will try to stop in again tomorrow evening. My Sweet 17 yr old Sheltie is dying and it makes the days harder. She isn't eating much or drinking much so know it won't be long. She mostly sleeps and I am thankful she is not in pain.

Today I did some running around and some phone calls. I had to go to the bank and close my account and open a new one because of the mail box being broken into. I had 4 creditors that didn't receive their checks from last month and the bank thought it best to close the account and open a new one. I am going back in tomorrow and the nice gal is going to show me how to do on line banking. She said that the mail is becoming less trustworthy these days and everything is going electronically with less information. So, I go see her at 9 am.

Then I have the cable people coming AGAIN!! emoticon BUT, I was finally able to talk to someone that had a brain and knew what they where talking about. He said it is diffidently out in the box outside which is what the last person said. He said it may take 2 more times to get it fixed but, they will get it fixed. Our neighbors next door are having the same problems also. So, that is why he things it is at the box outside. emoticon

It was a beautiful day all the same and I did get to enjoy it. I worked in the yard some. Our new worker seems to like the job so far. He is a very good friend of DH's so that is good news too. I also got our check back from the Dealership today so there is more good news. The other good news is we have our mail boxes and they will be up and working tomorrow.

Gail in answer to your question my Aunt lives less than a mile from me, so about 5 -10 min. drive from me. It is really nice to see her and we get along really well. Glad you had a wonderful birthday.

Business has really picked up and we are really busy. I am happy about that. Just hope it continues to pick up. Just added another 3 new agents from one of our offices.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Gail is sounds like a totally awesome birthday. Happy you now get to listen to your classical music.

Sandy so nice you are able to get together with your aunt and that DH joined you and you all had a nice time.

Vickie & I went shopping for plants for the park gardens today and got enough to finish one bed and start another. We don't like to put too much pressure on ourselves to get things planted-I would rather make more trips!!!

I took Bill to the chiropractor this afternoon and he thinks 2-3 treatments will get him back on track. He is already feeling better. However, while I was gone this morning he managed to fall as he went out to work on a sprinkler. Men-they never seem to learn!! Glad it was before his treatment and hopefully it didn't do any more damage-he said he landed on his rump and hit his shoulder!

Good Morning:

First off let me thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes and goodies. It's really great to be remembered. Yesterday was very special. My son called in the morning to wish me a happy birthday and immediately afterward my daughter and sil took me to brunch at a local restaurant. The brunch was terrific and their bloody Mary is the best I ever had. Following lunch my daughter came to my home and set up my birthday gift. My son and daughter and their families got me a Sonos speaker. It's connected to my IPad and gets me all sorts of programs from all over the world. I'm just interested in the classical music stations, many of which do not have advertising. The sound system of Sonos is extraordinary...the very best. I listen to classical music 24/7 and since I screwed up the HD radio I had downstairs, I was unable to figure out how to get HD2. This happened a couple of weeks ago and I haven't had the state 24 hour classical music station since. Now I have the world.

Thanking you all again for the birthday wishes and also for your wonderful support as I face the upcoming shoulder surgery and extended recovery.

Gail

Sandy: Glad you and your aunt had a great visit yesterday and happy your DH joined you and you all had a good time. BTW, does your aunt live very near you?

Pat: Darling, you are something special. I found it nearly killed me being a caregiver for 4 years. I can't imagine what you went through and the fortitude you now have being a caregiver again with Bill. Sorry he hurt his back. I bet he tries to assert his independence and frequently winds up behind the 8th ball when things get out of hand. Hey, the $5 lunch sounds great. We don't have things like that here, unfortunately.

Val: What kind of apartment will you be looking for and when do you hope to move? I don't know how it is where you are but the apartments and condos here all have dark kitchens (no window) and most are very tiny. I don't care about the size as much as I would find a dark kitchen and a dark apartment very difficult to live with.

DG: I know all to well how hard it is to go through things and let most of them go. I emptied a whole house, the garage, the basement and two large storage facilities. Don't beat yourself up if you don't feel like tackling the job some days. It's bound to happen. The physical and emotional toll it takes is very great. I find doing something small can often get me going. I say I will just clear out one drawer or one part of a closet, and then I find I've done a couple of drawers or the whole closet. Now I'm working on boxes of stuff in the basement and have managed to take care of two so far by myself. The thing is, if, after a while, I don't want to go through the rest of the box I just stop. Then, later or in the next few days I go back. This has worked for me. In between times I read, do puzzles or watch TV.

Nan: Do you plant a garden? Anything planned for the rest of the month?

emoticon Gail. So happy to hear DD is going to come for a couple of days to help you out. It is sure nice when they volunteer BUT I have learned to ask as people just don't seem to think these days and don't know what we need if we don't tell them so...my dear do not be afraid to speak up!

Sandy it sounds like that really took a lot out of you. Hope you get rested back up and are good to go again.

DG hope you have had a good Sunday. As others have said, it all takes time. I know I was much younger when my DH passed away and it took me time before I could begin to dispose of things. However with 2 teenagers still at home, life went on and I had to get right back into things, so to speak, as there was no way not to. I had been doing most everything for the 9 yrs he was disabled so it didn't make a lot of difference in my life and I am in the same situation again with DH. He managed to hurt his back Fri when we went to take the newspapers to our recycling bin. He could not wait for me to help him lift the container and now he can hardly move! He has been on pain pills the past 2 days and is mostly in la-la land. Will hopefully get him in to the chiropractor tomorrow and hoping that will get him back to rights-might take 2-3 visits. He didn't go to church today but we are supposed to go to friend's for a cookout this evening so hoping he is able to do that. I am taking dessert so they would miss that if we didn't come- emoticon . I made a totally sugar free cheese cake and one with regular jello so not totally sugar free but not bad either,
Vickie, Sonny & I went to Olive Garden after church and I had gotten a mobile coupon on my phone so they honored it so we ate for $5 each (their soup & salad), nice lunch for that price!

Good Morning:

Time to cheer up. Today is my birthday and my daughter and sil are taking me to brunch. Afterward they are coming to my place to set up the special gift they got for me. It's speakers that are in different places in the house that have great sound. The music is somehow linked to the IPad. Looking forward to it.

I got a couple of birthday cards yesterday and one was from one of my granddaughters. Always so happy to be remembered. I wasn't expecting it.

I spoke briefly with my daughter yesterday and she will come and stay with me two nights following surgery. I didn't ask my daughter for help; she just announced that she would be coming. That is a relief. I think I was worried that I'd have to ask. If I still need help I'll have someone come in in the am and pm (wake up and tuck in service). I'll look into what is available this coming week.

Thank you all for your kindness and support. I truly appreciate it.

Gail

Val - Nice to have you back. We miss you.

Gail - Vali idea is a good one. I just can't believe that your insurance won't pay. How about Medicare.

DG - You sound like you have been really busy. The only way to get though it is to just keep plugging along. Just take one project at a time.

Pat - You my dear are always busy. I sometimes worry about you. How is DH doing?

Nan - it is always nice to have you pop in. I am glad that the weather has warmed up in Ohio.

Well, I slept most of day on Saturday after helping DH on Friday. I forget how hard it was and how tired I got. When I got home on Friday I took a shower and laid down at 7pm and didn't wake up till 10 am. Then fell back to sleep at 1 PM and slept to 3 PM. I am still tired and will probably sleep like a baby again tonight . I am meeting my Aunt tomorrow for a bite to eat. I am tiring to get together with her at least once a week now.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

DG it would be nice to be close so you could walk with me. Bill was walking more than he is now but I don't push him to do more than he feels he can, I just try to keep him moving. He hasn't been up to it for a couple days now so hopefully by Mon. he will feel more like walking.

Hello Friends,
I am making progress and thank you all for your suggestions how to get it done and the encouragement to keep plugging along. It didn't get this way over night and it won't change over night either, sadly! ;-)

Val hope you find a really nice apartment or condo with great neighbors. DS and Ddil are finding out apartment living is tough. Neighbors are good but management is rotten.

Gail is it possible to have help from a friend. I hope all goes well and it turns out to be simpler than you expected as you have done so much pre-surgery investigation and planning. Sure wish we lived closer. I understand the gaining back. I am not where I was but so much closer than I had ever wanted to be again.

Sandy so sorry things have been so rough for you this Spring. Hope the new worker does a good job and will be a faithful and good employee. Great to hear DH is working hard and making progress from his slip up. Wonderful that he is standing behind your decisions and supporting you.

Pat your Dh's business sounds like when my husband took early retirement. So much stress was gone. Folks kept asking what he had done, as he looked 10 yrs younger. Wish we lived closer too, I'd love to be your walking partner. DH and I used to walk 2 - 3 miles each day. I sure miss those days.

Well off to catch up with my other teams. Life has been so busy I am only getting on the computer in the evenings.

Hugs to you all!

Sandy running your own business is never easy. DH did it for years and when he retired it was such a relief to no longer have employee issues! Hope the new one works out well for you.

Gail that is a great idea to only hire someone for the times you need them. Usually Medicare will cover someone coming a few times after the surgery or they did for DH. It was not to help with the basics though.

Not a lot going on here-hot out so did my walk early and did some cooking this morning. Made sugar free cheesecake to take to a cookout tomorrow and some potato salad, tuna salad and a blackberry cobbler. I am working us cleaning out our freezer and those blackberries needed to be used.

Well, we had another worker that I had to fire as he said he could come to work on Friday. It happen to be the busiest day we have had all year so far. This guy has 3 other jobs besides working for us. The 3 other jobs are his that he has started. One of which is the same business we are in and he was looking to buy ours. Plus 7 kids and one on the way and his girlfriend is going to school. He said he had to stay home as She had finals. I told him that if he didn't show that he was fired. He was told from the beginning that Thursdays and Fridays are our Biggest days and he had said that it would not be a problem. He yelled at me and said his Family comes first. Then something about working for a women. I said told him before you take on a job and comment you may want to think about that family and the people you are going to work for. He said his girlfriend is the bread winner in the family. I told him then you should be a "Stay at Home Dad " then and stop jerking people around and telling them you need hours when you don't. I told him I was done and I will be mailing his check. Then he flipped out and said he wanted his tomorrow. I said No. It will be mailed. He said by Law you have to pay me with in 72 hrs. I told him he will get a check mailed to him with in 72 hrs and we are done with this conversation.

So, I went out with DH yesterday and work with him all day. I was going to go out today but , just couldn't do it. DH told me to back to bed and sleep and he would do it. DH even texted the guy and said a couple of things to him. About the fact that he can't make up his own hours and he had it pretty good, How well they worked together and basically he really blew a great thing. DH said as far as buying the business don't even think about it as she won't budge from the price now.

Good news is that I have already found another worker.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Gail - Good to hear that you will have your shoulder surgery sooner that later. But, sorry that you have to have it. Sorry that you have to put off your eye surgery too. But, it all works out in the end for a good reason.

Hugs to all.

Hi:

Well, nothing new on this end. I went to the ortho clinic for my pre-op tests and the social worker reaffirmed I don't qualify for the insurance because I'm in good shape, aside from the shoulder. Really thinking this over and very seriously considering paying for help out of my own pocket. I don't have full range of motion with my right arm so it's difficult for me to maneuver. When trying to do things using just my right hand/arm and keeping my left arm in a sling position, it's just not going well. Perhaps with some OT I'll learn how to do things better.

My food has been very bad and I I've gained back 15 of the 24 lbs I lost. It' like everything is falling apart. Gotta get a grip.

Sorry to be in such a down mood and thanks for letting me cry on your shoulders.

Gail

Val: The social worker said exactly what you suggested and I believe that will be all I will need. Will need to see if I can arrange that following surgery.

Gail, I've been thinking about the issues you'll have after your surgery and I just want to make a couple of suggestions. After your surgery maybe you can get someone to come in twice a day to help you out. Once to help you dress in the morning and then again to help you change for bed at the end of the day. Seems to me that you might not need more than that. And perhaps you could fix a bunch of food and freeze it (in single servings) so that you'd have meals you could heat in the microwave until you were able to cook again. (I love those cheap little single serving containers you can get at the grocery or wherever.) I think that you can do this if you just make plans for as many circumstances as you can think of.

One more day, and then I get my weekend. I've got to start going out on Mondays and looking at apartments and townhouses. I hate, hate, HATE moving so I always put off dealing with each part of the process for as long as I can. Can't do that again if I want to find a really good place to rent by the end of June. I think I also need to start looking around to see where I might be able to find a different job. But I don't even have a resume, so that plan's going to have to wait for a while...

I hope you all have a really great weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

Val nice to hear from you. I hope your co-worker gets a laugh out of you putting tax day on there. We could use some rain also. We got a bit on Sunday but since then just a few sprinkles but lots of thunder which upsets Abbie. Would like some rain at least for giving her grief.

Gail happy you are going to be able to get the surgery over with but you are right-you need easy things to get on and off. Without help I do not see you getting t-shirts off and on so need something that opens in the front and few closures! Bill had it made as I was here to help him after his surgery. He even wore pull on pants for several weeks to make life easier!

I got a nasty surprise late yesterday-realized as I was driving in that our pretty blue glazing ball in one of the beds was broken. I went up this morning and picked up all the pieces. I had purchased it several years ago on sale. Not sure what broke it-thinking maybe a squirrel jumped off the fence and did it as I didn't blow out as the base of the globe iwas still inside the base. I purchased another one this afternoon to replace it and gave the base a nice fresh coat of paint.

We had 16 out for breakfast this morning. The a/c had broken at the restaurant so was glad they left the doors open to let in a breeze and it wasn't bad. I expect we will only go to breakfast for a few more weeks and by then the snowbirds will all have flown home.

I did some more planting this morning and finished weeding one bed when I got home. We did laundry and this afternoon I ran some errands and gave Abbie a bath. Clean dog and clean bed tonight!

I was up by 6 am to walk as I knew if I didn't do it before we went to breakfast that I would not do it. I am having issues with my fitbit-I walk about 10K daily but it is saying I am only active for maybe 45-60 minutes. That takes me around 2 hours and with other work I do I should get in my minutes but it isn't happening-is anyone using a fitbit and are you having any problems?

Good Morning:

Well, someone canceled so I will be having shoulder surgery May 8th...the Friday before Mother's Day. That's OK. Just as soon get this over with. I'll go in for a pre-op exam tomorrow. The orthopedic surgeon, (OS) said I should wail till I've healed from the shoulder surgery before I have the cataract surgery. Makes sense. How would I be able to put drops in my eyes with only one hand? Between now and the surgery I'll need to look for clothes I can get into and out of easily because it will be weeks before I can move my arm away from my body. I'll hit the thrift shops first.

I want to thank all of you for your support and kindness. It means a lot to me. I'm well over the mean-spirited note, but have been staying away out of guilt and shame. I guess I'm anxious about the recovery after surgery because I've been eating non-stop...not only healthy things but junk food too. Hopefully one of these days I'll get my act together.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Val: If you've any rain left over, send some here. Most of WI is under an alert.

I got my taxes taken care of back in early March. I have a tendency to put unpleasant things off, but I always like to file my taxes as soon as I have all of the forms I need. Mine are relatively simple, and I like to file them as soon as I'm able because I want my doggone money back. I don't want my money spent on many of the things our government spends it on. I'd prefer if it just stayed in my bank account where I could spend it on things that I want to support. (I know that we will always have to pay for certain things that are basic government functions, and I'm okay with that. I'd just like to get to keep more of the rest of what they take out.)

I have to set up cultures at work and on each of the plates I have to write the date and time that they were put into the incubator. On a couple of them today I wrote "(the time) Tax Day" and then my initials. Hopefully someone will get a kick out of it when they look at the plates tomorrow.

There have been rumors of some rain in our future, and now the rumors are of a large storm that's moving across the northern part of the state...but so far, no rain. emoticon Please girls, anyone who's tired of having too much rain just send it on my way. I'll even pay the postage. emoticon

Okay, I'm tired and I think I'd better finish up on the computer and get to bed. I hope you're all having a fabulous week. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Lisa happy that tax season is over for you and that you get some extra time off. I am sure your dog will enjoy some extra walks! Our Abbie loves her morning walk.

I walked early and then got DH & Abbie out for their walk. DH needed a haircut so I got that taken care of after breakfast and then was off to our last RO meeting till Oct. That took care of my morning.
We thought we were going to have company this afternoon but they called at the last minute to cancel so I got my ironing done and planted some flowers in a couple of pots in front of my house. Was nice to have a little extra free time.

HI All,
I didn't realize how tired I was. I slept late and have been chilling all day. It was a great 4 days but like Pat says very tiring! ;-) But I'd do it again if they said they could all come back tomorrow! LOL We celebrated DD's birthday and the girls got to know DS's girlfriend better. They went ice skating and we had several meals out and several meals the kids cooked. One night DS and his GF cooked for us. DS and GF only get to see one another once a month or so as they live about 5 hrs apart. My Dog is really tired and has slept almost non stop since DS and his dog left yesterday. He wakes to eat and go out to potty and comes back in and sleeps again. ;-)

Pat hope you and DH can catch up on your rest too! Hope the kids got the rental car back on time.

Sandy glad the dealership is giving you your money back. Sorry it was such a rough road. Praying you find a good replacement truck.

Lisa glad your Saturdays are done. I can't imagine! Thank you for all your hard work!!

Getting more rain today but thankfully not over the weekend while the dogs were in and out so much! ;-)

Pat - Glad that you got to spend time with the kids.

Well, the truck went back. Well, it never really left. After they sent it over to the other place to be worked on and they found the leak. They found that it was going to be a little more work. Once they dig deeper they found that the work that had been done to it from the accident wasn't done the right way. With that I was done with the Truck and wanted my money back which is what I wanted to begin with. So, I get my money on Tuesday and return the truck that they loaned me. I also found out that this Dealership is not a good dealership to deal with as others I have talked to have had problems like us with them. So, that least it is over and done with. DH is going to help me take the truck back. It was also a big help in getting my money back too. He has been doing pretty good so far. I have been talking to his sponsor and he says he has been really sorry for what he put me through and his son. My Aunt even noticed a big deference in him and hopes that he keeps it up.

Hope that everyone has a wonderful week.

We got the kids off by 8:30 (they originally wanted to leave by 6 am). I didn't even get them awake and moving till 6:30!! We sure enjoyed having them for a couple of days but we are feeling the effects now. Not used to all the running we did. Praying they have a safe journey home as they are driving straight thru since they have to have the rental car turned in by 10 am tomorrow.
Back to our normal routine tomorrow!

Good morning, everyone! I made it through my last Sat. working yesterday. emoticon I work at a tax office so we work on Sat. from Jan. through April 15. The overtime is great the hours get a little old.

Missed my walk with a calm wind this morning; decided to vacuum first and the wind has come up pretty strong now. Maybe I'll do some yoga instead and take the dog for a drive instead of a walk.

Sandy glad to hear you and your aunt are having a special night for both of you and that things are going good.

Our GD and her DH arrived about 4 pm yesterday and we have been on the go since then. We spent 6 hours out on the lake today. Glad we went early as it is pouring rain now! They will be on their way tomorrow and we can get back to "normal". A couple of 20ish kids wear us out!!

DG so glad you are getting to enjoy your kids and sounds like the dogs are having a blast. Enjoy.

Gail I sometimes wonder about people who have to say unkind things but they are always out there. As DG said, we are here for you and hope that you will be able to get everything all coordinated and soon will be on the mend.

I had plans to do one thing and ended up doing something entirely different today. I am sure happy I had already cleaned house in preparation for the grandkids visit. They will arrive tomorrow around noon to 1.
I did find a picture for my family room today at a thrift store. It is a lovely original oil beach scene.
DH & I both had a routine dr visit this afternoon. Both of us have a couple of minor issues - DH is dealing with allergies and dr. prescribed eye drops for that and his kidney function has changed so he has to be rechecked in 3 weeks to be sure nothing big is happening. Dr. thought he might have been dehydrated from fasting and it could affect him.
My triglycerides had only dropped 5 points from 179 to 174 so I have 4 months to get it below 150 or he is going to change my medicine. Dr was happy I had dropped 17 lbs. He suggested I try for 10 more before my next visit. Hoping I can manage that and maybe a bit more!!

Hi Friends,
I am having a great visit with my kids. The dogs are together for the firs time since DS took his sweet German Shepherd. They are like little kids, they are so excited!! They run and play and crash for naps and are up and running around the yard again. It is fun to watch them have so much fun! It will be sad Sunday when they have to part again. ;-)

Pat glad folks are appreciative! Sorry you don't get offers of help!!

Gail sorry for the unkind words. Hope you will come join us again soon. You are loved and cared about here.

Dear friends

I decided to take a break from Spark for a bit. I got really burned by a Sparker in a private email several days ago ,,,,not anybody on this team..and when I am bullied I just retreat and lick my wounds. This mean spirited note hit me when I was particularly vulnerable. I hope to have a total shoulder replacement in the near future, and Monday I found out I will also be having cataract surgery on both eyes. The docs will coordinate the two operations. All that I need is fixable and not life threatening but I'm concerned about putting drops in my eyes, and disconcerted about a shoulder recovery which will take months. Well, it is what it is.

Thanks to those of you who have sent me goodies and comments on my spark page.

Gail

After we went to breakfast this morning with our Wed. group, DH had to get his hearing aides checked and on the way home we stopped at one of my favorite thrift stores and I found a little black dress for myself. Fits perfectly and looks great and even the length is perfect. Now I have a nice dress for special occasions for under $10!

DG yes, people are noticing and offering up their thanks to Vickie & I and telling us how nice things look. I would rather they volunteered to help but thanks are welcome also! I wish I didn't have to watch every bite-even DH remarks that he can't believe how hard it is for me to drop weight as I never seem to sit still during the day. I don't eat nearly like I did when I was younger but I still struggle with weight issues.

Sandy so happy you had a good Easter and everyone had a wonderful time with lots of happy memories to share with each other. It is great you are able to look in on your aunt and keep tabs on her. I know it has to mean a lot to her to know you are close in case she needs you.

I was up early to get DH off to coffee and donuts and I headed out for my walk. By the time I was done, it was time to grab a bite and then I was off to another finance committee meeting. I got home from that about 11:30 and took time to read the daily paper. I often don't get to that until evening. I have to get the minutes typed up today as there is a board meeting (preliminary to prepare for the actual one the following Wed) tomorrow so everyone needs the minutes. I don't like being rushed but....it is what it is.

We got a coupon for a free movie from Dish and it is going to expire on the 9th so guess we will take the time this afternoon to use it.

Hello! It is partly cloudy here today. Sometimes the sun is shinning and sometimes now. It is dreary now and I'd like to go back to bed. ;-) Too many short nights.

Pat you are amazing at your garden work. I would think you'd never have to worry about what you put in your mouth!! Seems like you should burn it off!! Sorry you ran out of plants at home before you were done. Do many tell you they appreciate your hard work? I imagine the gardens to always look so lovely! It would be sad if no one told you how pretty or that they appreciate it. You spend lots of hours on them.
I am hoping we don't get too warm too quickly either!!

Sandy so glad your Easter dinner turned out so well! When we had my DFIL and both my parents here, we heard a lot of stories of their childhoods I had never heard before too. One would tell something and it would remind one of the others about something. It was a wonderful time. Just 4 months thought. Wish it could have been longer.
Glad you are going to check on your Aunt so often. What a joy you will be to her. Glad she is independent.

Gail you are missed! Hope you are ok.

Hope Everyone has a great day!!

We had a wonderful day. There were a lot of laughs and some tears but, there were many stories told. Some stories that my cousin had not even known about. The dinner came out wonderful. DH was a very big help and was very good. Even my Aunt noticed and said something to me. My cousin leaves Tuesday to go home. Which means it will be the first night my Aunt will be a lone. So. I am going to go over and have dinner with her. I try to check on her every other day as she is like I am very independent.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

DG how great that you are going to get a visit for 4 days from DS. Happy you get to see your family quite often. I got to talk to my sons today. Bothe were working yesterday so glad we had a chance to chat.
I had a full day working in the gardens-park and home. I got the beds in front of the clubhouse all trimmed up and pulled the weeds there and then pulled all the pansies in the bed in the circle in front of the clubhouse and that bed is now planted with Mexican heather. I have replanted my flower tower and another pot but ran out of plants before I got all done at home.
Weather is getting very warm down here-to be in the mid to upper 80's all week.

Well, I haven't been getting notices of posts on the team! Glad I came looking so too much time hasn't passed!

Pat I would change tax preparers too. They sure charge a lot. Mine went up this year too. Still like having the back up in case of an audit but it is expensive.
Nice to have the Florida room clean. Agree the dust is awful and having a large dog brings in more than used too when it is muddy outside.

Sandy hope you had a lovely day yesterday with your Aunt, Cousin and DH. What a lovely way to celebrate her birthday and his life!

Lots of personal business stuff done today. Seems like there is always something that has to be done. DS is coming home this week for 4 days. Will be so good to see him again. I know it could be longer but 10 weeks seems like a long time too. ;-)

Hugs to all!

I think our accountant kept charging us like he was when he did all of our business taxes as that was a bit more complicated but no longer have that to worry about. I could do them myself but with tax aide about 2 miles from us and it is free, I just let them do it and file electronically for us.
I have that Florida room scrubbed from top to bottom and all that dust/dirt is gone for at least a day or two. The water was black where I washed the dust off the walls. It is covered with the siding like we have on the outside of our house so it grabs the road dust that comes in the windows and it has windows on 3 sides-it is all window!
We played cards with our friends this afternoon and the ladies won both games. Feel really sorry for the guys-they are either poor players or just not very lucky!!

Good Morning Friends,
Seems I can't stay caught up with everything these days! ;-) But at least I am well and am working on that forever "to do" list. ;-)

Pat I wish I had a pool available to me. I did aerobic water exercises some 25 yrs ago and boy did the inches come off! I still remember some of the exercises. I had been doing aerobic dance classes before them so didn't think the switch would help much! We did them year round as they covered the pool and heated it.

Lisa hope your allergies are better. The pollen is so think here it is making all the cars look terribly dirty! Time to get mine washed. I have heard it isn't good for the finish anyone know if that is true?

Kimberley welcome to the team! Lovely name! Hope you come back and chat often!

Gail the PBS special sounds interesting. There seems to be so much more cancer now than before. My cousin passed this last week and she had just turned 50. Never knew she had cancer until a routine check up and it was already a stage 4! She lived a yr and a half longer than the yr they gave her. She will be missed and her parents are taking it very hard.
Thankfully my tax man doesn't charge much and then I don't have to worry about an audit as he would represent me. One less thing to worry about!! ;-)
Thanks for the joke! I am sending it on to my sons! We had a accident of that sort here in our state on a major highway this last week. One was killed, amazingly the truck driver was not, but closed down the whole road as the bridge fell. Our friends that came for the 4 days visit had crossed it just 2 hrs earlier! So glad they got an early start on their trip!!

Nana no one tried any April Fools jokes on me yesterday! That's a first in many a year! ;-)

Happy Easter to All!!

Ole and Sven were taking a vacation in Sven's new camper. As usual, they'd become lost and were wandering around a strange town trying to find the highway. Sven was just starting down a grade to go under a bridge when he slams on the brakes.

Ole: Vat da heck you do dat for, Sven?

Sven: Dat sign dere says "Low Bridge. No Vehicles Over Twelve Feet High." Dis here camper is t'irteen feet!

Ole: Cripes almighty Sven, dere ain't no cops around. Yust hit da gas pedal and go for it!

Wow, that's a big bill for tax prep! I work in a tax office and often think we charge a lot but for one that easy our bill is much less. I wonder sometimes why some of them don't just do their own online. It would be much cheaper; I guess they like the comfort of knowing that it's done right.

Didn't get in a walk tonight; was windy and colder and I ate too much sugar the last couple days so am really tired.

Gail we had to let our accountant "go" also. We were spending over $300 and never owed anything and took the standard deduction so now we use AARP tax aide and it costs us nothing!
Lisa hope your weather settles down and you get to feeling better soon.

Taking a day off from cleaning today-had our breakfast group with only 7 today and tried a different restaurant and it was delicious. We plan to return next week. After we left there I stopped at Aldi's for some fruit and then a quick stop at the bank before returning home.
Friends arrived at 12:30 and out to lunch with them-went light with a salad as we have a block party to go to at 5 this evening. Way too much scheduled for today but it keeps me moving. DH & I even managed to fit in a nice walk!

Good Morning:

Boy, all of you are so active and busy. I'm still a slug. I was a zombie yesterday because I got so little sleep the night before. Didn't even read. I watched a great documentary of PBS though...CANCER, THE EMPEROR OF ALL DISEASES. They spoke about the history of the treatment of cancer starting way back to the Egyptians, and went all the way up to the 20th century when great strides were made. I didn't watch the whole thing because I was falling asleep, so I recorded it. The original reason I started to watch was because, in large part, they were featuring the strides made by Dr. Sidney Farber, one of the pioneers in cancer research. As it happens, his granddaughter is a very sweet and kind lady I know.

Will be getting back tax refunds from the state and federal government....not quite as much as I had hoped for but, hey, it's something. After tax season, late April early May, I'm going to look for a new tax accountant. The one I have is good and I like him personally, but the firm charges way to much. They have all sorts of varied and credentialed professionals at their disposal, but I don't need any of that. I have very straight forward tax preparation, and, as I have disposed of almost everything, fewer and fewer "in kind"charitable donations such as books, household items, clothes, collectibles, etc.

Enjoy the day.

I am taking the Vionic Walkabout Challenge. I am adding lots of flowers to my garden this year. I am going to walk more since we should be having less rain. I am also adding more time to my walking and upping the pace.

Our weather has been up and down for the last 2 months. (Probably part of the reason I can't shake this crud that I've got.) It was 80 today but will be in the 50s and 60s the rest of the week. I finally got out after work and walked with my dog. He was pretty excited; he has been begging me to go for a week but I just haven't felt up to it and didn't think the wind would help my sinuses.
Looking forward to getting in more riding this summer than we did last; we have horses and a Harley and love to get out on both.

My routine changes only in that I do more gardening in the spring and go swimming once the weather warms up - we keep our pool covered during the colder weather.
I managed to finish up the mulching at home today so that is one job done for another year. I worked some more on the Florida room after that and it is 3/4 done. I would have liked to finish today but my back said NOOOOOO! Hopefully I can finish it up tomorrow. Since I needed to get off my feet, I typed the minutes of our finance meeting from last Wed and that job is now done also. Slowly but surely I am marking things off my to-do list!

I do change routines but not necessarily just because of the seasons.

Sandy so glad you were able to be there for your Aunt. What a blessing and how kind of you take her out to eat. It is a good think his daughter is there for her. Hugs!! to you both! How sweet of your DH to leave you flowers. Praying things work out on that issue.

A lovely day here and woke up early. Maybe I am finally catching up on my rest!! Woo hoo!!

Thank you everyone for all the goodies and messages. I did get to say good-bye to my Uncle. He was still at the house when I got there. I was very Thankful for that. It was closer for me. I had to stay strong for my Aunt to help her through this. My and I were looking at the calendar and realized that yesterday was the same day that my Mom passed 12 yrs ago. It was so weird. I had had a dream just the other day of all them being together again. He was 98 yrs old. He would of been 99 on May 30th. I was very close to him and very close to my Aunt. We were able to everything together and taken careful. My Uncle's daughter came in yesterday. So, I was glad that my Aunt wasn't alone. I took her out to get a bite to eat after they came and got my Uncle as she hadn't eaten. It also gave us time to talk. We laughed at some of the funny things that my Uncle did and the time he took me fishing. And how he was coping out women for DH's son. DH is taking my Uncle's passing pretty hard. He was really close to him. He left flowers for me at the front door. He also called me a couple of time to check on me. There will be no funeral that was his wishes.

So, Thank you again. Have a wonderful week.
