Sandy very sorry to hear about your uncle. Sending prayers and hugs to you and your family.

DG so happy you are getting some help and direction to get things cleared out of the office so you can reclaim your room. It is wonderful to have willing friends to help. Sounds like a great visit.

Gail good for you for doing that PT as it really is a must after surgery so best to get in the habit before you do anything.

I had a productive day. Up for my walk (waited till after 8 as we had a unusually cool morning (47)). After that, I got busy on my back garden and ran out of mulch so tomorrow I will go for more. I know I can finish it in 30-45 minutes and then just have a side bed to weed and mulch and that will be thru for the spring. I took a break and did a few pieces of ironing after that as my back needed to straighten out before starting on the Florida room. I have it half done now. Again more bending and climbing up to wipe down the walls so I only did that for about an hour. I am finding if I don't push myself to finish something all in one setting I don't ache afterwards. I will work on it some more tomorrow and hopefully finish it on Wed. I even pitched a wicker shelving I had out there as it was "shedding",
We took a bag of clothing and the octagon table I had used in the family room to the thrift store so more out of here. Feels good to get getting things organized again as it has been up in the air since Dec.
We grabbed a bite of lunch while out, went to Kohls and I bought myself a new iron as mine is leaving spots on our clothes so time for it to go bye-bye. We also stopped at the grocery store and by the time all that was finished it was suddenly 4 pm. I paid some bills and read my daily paper and it was 5 and time to finally chill for the day.
Looking like another full week and then the following week we are expecting our GD and her DH for 3 days. Looking forward to that. That is pushing me to get things done before they arrive on the 10th.

Hello All!! Happy Monday!! Looks like our cloud cover might lift although the report is more rain! I am not going to complain!! It is so good to have rain before our long hot, dry summer!
DD made sticky buns from scratch for our breakfast yesterday. They are always delicious and our company always feels so special that she makes them for them. Glad there are only 2 left and will be gone today! Sticky buns that is not the company!! LOL The company left yesterday and are missed!! ;-)

Gail is is a real blessing to have help. My kids will come in a couple weeks and help me with some other things in his office that they want or will know what to do with. It will be wonderful to have a room that can be used again. This is a slow process but so worth it when finished! I so appreciate your walk ahead of me to give me home and encouragement that I too can have my home in order and it will be a place of comfort and peace. ;-)

Sandy you are in my thoughts and prayers! Hugs!!
Hope Everyone has a lovely day!!

Good Morning:

It's 36 right now but is supposed to climb to 57. They are predicting a cloudy day, so if I get myself out of the house I'll go to the mall and walk around to get some exercise. Same forecast for tomorrow with sunny skies. I'll try to get out and walk outdoors.

I've been a good girl and have been doing my PT. Got to get into the habit, because following surgery it is a MUST. It's getting harder for me to dress and that has me down a bit.

Haven't read my book in a couple of days so I'm hoping to get to it today.

Anyone have special plans this week? I'm going to a friend's 80th birthday gathering on April 3.

Sending you all good wishes for a bright week.

Gail

DG: So glad you're getting help from friends regarding the office stuff. I had a professor from the University of Wisconsin help me with my father-in-law's archival materials. Couldn't have done it without him.

Pat: Sounds like the Palm Sunday meal was quite a success. Glad you enjoyed it. How is Bill doing these days, better?

Sandy: Glad you are finding some time to yourself. Take care, dear friend.

Nan: Yeah, I actually get some belly laughs from Ole and Lena. Glad you enjoy them.

Hello Everyone! What a wonderful weekend I have had with long time friends. Got much done with things I just didn't know what to do with. We visited with other friends and 3 of my children and saw some local sights. We sure fit a lot into 4 days and I am exhausted but glad to have some Spark time too.

Sandy I am so sorry things are so bad at home. Praying you have strength and peace. Is the window fixed on the truck yet?

Gail glad your Dr visit went so well and you got good answers in your home health searches. Great to have such good insurance.
Your Ole jokes are too funny!! ;-) Thanks for the chuckles!!
Friends helped with some things in my DH's office that i just didn't know enough about to know what to do with them. Just knowing something and giving me some ideas has helped a lot. We tossed some stuff and they took a chair we had purchased from them many years ago. Now it will be in their "antique" guest room and the wife is thrilled to have it back as it was the captain's chair from their first set of furniture they purchased after they married, when they were still college students. ;-) They volunteered to come again to help more. In the mean time I have a list of things to do in the office. I am so glad to have a direction now. ;-) We also had some fun and lots of laughter and saw some local sights.

Pat glad you had a good trip and got to see your friends and made it back home safely. My friends crossed a bridge on their way here and 2 hrs later an accident happened that caused the bridge to collapse and one driver killed. So thankful they decided to leave early!

Think I will head to bed and be sure and be rested for tomorrow.
Hugs to all!

Good Morning:

It's cloudy today and it is supposed to rain. The good news it's now 31F and is supposed to get up to 50.

Going to lunch with my sil and daughter today.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

Gail

---------------------------

Ole died. So Lena went to the local paper to put a notice in the obituaries. The gentleman at the counter, after offering his condolences, asked Lena what she would like to say about Ole.

Lena replied, "You yust put 'Ole died'."

The gentleman, somewhat perplexed, said, "That's it? Just 'Ole died?' Surely, there must be something more you'd like to say about Ole. If its money you're concerned about, the first five words are free. We must say something more."

So Lena pondered for a few minutes and finally said, "O.K. You put 'Ole died. Boat for sale.' "

So, I heard about the truck. They did find that problem but, they thought they had fixed it. But, found that the sealer that they use is not strong enough so they are going to send it out to another place that they use that specialize in sealing of windshields. For now I have a rental from the Dealer. They are going to call me on Monday and let me know when it will be ready.

DH is willing to work and wants to work. He came by today and took me to brunch with his son. DS is his son but, DS feels more like mine only because we are so close. DH is also helping his sponsor too. He didn't have a drink at brunch and hasn't had one since his 3 day drinking. His sponsor is getting him some angry management also. I am doing nothing at this time except taking care of me. There is someone that is interested in me and I have told them that it is sweet but, I am just not interested in anyone or even a relationship at this time. He is a very good friend and I would rather leave it that way. I just don't want to loose a good friendship. He seems to understand and knows what I am going through as he has been there for me.

Any ways I am having a really nice weekend just relaxing and watching old movies. Hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend.

Our community boat club had scheduled the annual poke run for today but it was so cold and nasty that they cancelled the boat part! We woke to only 47 this morning and a very brisk breeze so it would have been brutal out there on the water. Some brave souls went and retrieved the cards which had already been placed at various points on the lake and we all met at the clubhouse at 11 to draw our hands and lunch was at noon as planned. They had purchased subs from Subway so had to go ahead with the function. Sorry to say we did not have a good hand.

Sandy happy that DH's sponsor was willing to take him in and that he is continuing to work for you for now. I guess if you don't sell, that you are looking for someone to replace him? I am sorry that he just cannot get a handle on things.

Gail it is a good thing to weigh out all your options. Bill had his shoulder done almost 2 years ago. We have a friend who has had both of his done and one had to be redone. He is his own worst enemy! I hope you can work it out where you can stay home and not have to go to rehab for a few weeks. It seems the first month is the hardest part and where you need the most help.

We are having a Palm Sunday brunch tomorrow sponsored by our social club. Never a dull moment here.

Gail we could stay overnight with each other but this time we had to get back to take care of our furbabies since we are dogsitting and din't want to impose on our friends too much who cared for both of the Abbies for us. Normally we take our Abbie with us to play with their Reba but wasn't sure how little Abby would fare so thought it best not to tempt fate.

Good Morning:

Well, I went to see the orthopedic surgeon about my left shoulder yesterday. Except for the severe arthritis in my left shoulder I am in good health. But, I have poor range of motion and pain and it's getting worse. This doctor only does an outpatient procedure whereby he cleans up bone fragments and "debris". This procedure requires a short recovery, and can alleviate the pain. It could also give me a bit more range of motion. One problem is it doesn't work for everyone and could have to be repeated in the future. I'm going to see the orthopedic surgeon who does full shoulder replacements April 13. I'm leaning to this as a more permanent solution which will give me a significantly greater range of motion. The recovery period is LONG...5-6 months...and I'll need help. My thought is I am in good health now and can tolerate such a surgery, and, since I live alone, I need to be more independent now and in the future.

Had a pretty good food day yesterday and have today's meals planned out and prepared. I think that's the key for me. Tomorrow I'm going to lunch at Biaggi's with my daughter and sil. They always have good healthy choices with fish, seafood and veggies, so that will work.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Gail

Pat: So much driving would be too much for me, unless I was priming myself for a road trip in one direction. Something about a 5 hour round trip would be exhausting. Glad you had fun and next year it's there turn to drive. Could they put you and Bill up in the future? Could you put them up?

Sandy: Darling I hope everything works out well for you with your DH and the business. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. BTW, the son that lives with you, is that your son or his?

DG: OK, what tasks have you set up for the weekend? Anything with family?

Nan and Val: Thinking of you and hope your are in good spirits.

Gail - DH is going down to California for a little while. His sponsor would like to see us give it a chance. He ask me if I would and I said I am too tired of the ups and downs. He said he understood. Right now he is staying with his sponsor but, still working for me. His sponsor is working with him. His family hasn't called him and he really wants to see them as he misses them. His son has reach out to them and they are not returning his calls either. That is pretty sad. At 3 of the 5 kids have a problem with drinking. Only one of the 3 has a handle on it. DH is very scared of loosing me I know that as I am the only one that has stayed around or put up with him. I come from a alcoholic family. My Father was and he was very abusive and nasty when he would drink. So, I have dealt with this type of behavior. DH had been really good up to this point. He just all of a sudden started drinking the last 3 days and went crazy. Even told his son that he hated him. Sorry, So no he is not here at this time. His sponsor has taken him in to help and take him to meetings.

Lisa - Binge eating is a disorder. It something that is done in private and can't be helped. I had friend that did it. She loved to eat but, then hated herself for it too. It really sad.

Pat - glad you had a good time with your friends.

Val - How is your computer doing?

Nan - Always good to hear from you.

I did some running around and then came home and fixed dinner. I am doing good and so is DS. The business has been busy. But, I still might sell it. I do have someone interest in but, it has to be for the right price.

Hope that everyone has a great weekend!

Road trip behind us. It is a 2 hour trip to our friend's home so I spent 4 hours today driving and we visited from 11 to 2:30 so spent more time driving than visiting but it sure made for a long day for me. We had an enjoyable visit and played some cards and went to lunch so a good day.
We ran into rain half way home which made it a little more tense as traffic was heavy but we made it safely home. The rain has now passed on to the east coast and the cold front it moving in and it will be 51 in the morning and 47 predicted for Sun. morning. Not used to it being this cold this late in the year.
Glad we got to visit with our friends, but sure wish we lived closer. Next year it is their turn to come visit us!

Ole, Sven and Lars die in a tragic Lutefisk accident. They are met by God on the stairway to heaven.

God says, "There are 3,000 steps to heaven. It's very serious up there. I'll tell you a joke on each 1,000th step you reach. If you laugh you go to hell."

So they start walking and reach to the first 1,000th step. God tells a joke, Lars laughs out loud and goes straight to hell. Ole and Sven look at each other nervously.

On the 2,000th step God tells another joke, Sven tries his best but laughs and goes to straight to hell.

On the 3,000th step God tells the last and best joke, Ole doesn't laugh and proceeds to the gate.

Suddenly, Ole bursts out laughing hysterically. God asks, "What are you laughing about?".

Ole replies, "Oh dat's funny. I yust got da first yoke!".

Any thoughts from anyone on the idea that binge eating is a medical disorder? Been seeing headlines popping up here and there suggesting that.

Good Morning:

Got an appointment this morning with an OS. I learned on Wednesday that this doctor doesn't do shoulder replacements, so I'll have to see another. None-the-less, my internist didn't want me to cancel the appointment because this OS can probably answer my questions and refer me to one of his colleagues who does replacements.

My bad. Yesterday I ate some things that I should have stayed clear of. It was like an overwhelming obsession. OK, it's over and today is a new day. Will plan out my meals this morning.

Finally, for those of you who didn't hear, our Badgers won the game yesterday against UNC and I'm delighted. My son called last night and told me he was rooting for the Badgers. I guess he was caught a bit because he went to UW for his undergraduate and medical school training, but he did his residency at Chapel Hill and practices in Charlotte.

G.

Pat: Take it easy on the road trip. Long trips can take a lot out of you. Will you be coming home the same day or will you spend the night or weekend?
Sounds like you got a good deal on those end tables and that with the clean-up of the Florida room everything is coming together.

Sandy: I'm a bit in the dark. Now that you spoke with DH's sponsor, does that mean that DH is staying?

Sandy so sorry about all of this happening in your life, but happy you are getting support from his sponsor. I might imagine that his family is tired of this also. Sometimes tough love is all that will work to make someone wake up to see their problem and sometimes nothing will. Will be praying for all of you.
I worked on cleaning the Florida room today-got the inside wall washed and moved everything away on it and we got the tv off the wall in our family room and it is now mounted on the stand I bought last Sat. I moved pictures around-one from Fl. room to family room where tv was, one from family room to the living room and the one in the living room was moved to where I took the one down in the Fl room!
We also went and bought 2 new end tables for the family room. I found 2 small ones (13" wide) in oak and they match our wood in our fireplace. Excited to start getting it all together-this has been in flux since before Christmas!
We are going on a road trip tomorrow to visit friends about 2+ hours south of us. I am not looking forward to so much driving but it is our year to visit them. We trade off every year.

Thank you everyone. I talked to DH sponsor and he came over and sat down with DH for a long time last night and again today. It seemed to help. He went on a 3 day drinking binge. He is really depressed and misses his family and feels bad about the money situation. Plus not helping out. I told him I understand but, he can't not take out on us. It is not our fault and we didn't do anything. I am suffering with another migraine today so, I am taking it easy. His sponsor is great and really sweet. He came right over and could see what I was dealing with and controlled the situation really quickly. I got no help from DH's family this time . I tried calling them for help and I still have not received any calls back from any of them. It is pretty sad.

Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend.

Val: My insurance is the best; 60 visits of home care and 120 days of rehab/year. These can be doubled with a physician's referral.

So sorry your computer is on the fritz. UGH! emoticon

Gail, will your insurance pay for any in-home care? If you could get a nurse or a skilled care giver to come in and do some things for you for a while, maybe you could have the surgery and not need to go to a rehab center. Some insurance plans will pay for that and some won't, so it's worth at least asking.

Sandy, I'm so very sorry that things have fallen apart with your DH. You've tried so hard to work things out and stay together but sometimes people don't want to help themselves or love you (and himself) enough to try, too. I'm sorry that this will mean that you have to sell your business after all you've put into it. I have a friend who is in a very similar situation, but so far she has not been able to make the decision you have made. I was going to send you a private message about this, but right now I can't get to Spark Mail. My computer is a mess right now. emoticon

I hope that all of you are having a wonderful week. emoticon

Oh, Sandy: I'm so sorry for you. You've been run down for a long time now and I know your DH hasn't helped you much. On the contrary, his drinking and spending evidently exacerbated your situation. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Well, they finally, rather they think they figure out what it was. It all came from the main office and they need to change one thing on the account. It only took them coming out 10 times and 20 different people to figure it out. It was the last one that figure it out and didn't give up. She also found a nick in our line out at the box. She fixed that too. That happen from the guy that came out on Friday for our neighbor.

Sorry I am not writing much but, DH is back drinking again and is very bitter. I am going to sell the business as I just can't do it and my health is not too good at this time. I have tried with DH with it is not working and I really would like to move on with my life. DH has a serious problem with a hater toward women. He is Portuguese and they treat their women rally poorly and they love to drink. DH blames me for everything that has gone wrong in his life instead of taking responsibility for his own life . He continues to run up credit cards instead of trying to pay it down. On others he has all together quit paying on them. I am thankful we are NOT married and nothing is in his name. I am sorry everyone I have tired and I am too tired. He would leave. So, if I sell the business and get a job he will have to leave. As he has no reason to stay here. I don't want to call the Police due to our son and I don't want it to get ugly or for things to get worse.

Wishing you all my love. Thank you for listening.

Happy Hump Day!!
Company coming tomorrow and staying through Sunday. Not sure if I will be able to get here much. So if you miss me that is why. Getting some more things done! :-)

Pat glad you got your walk in anyway. We are expecting thunderstorms tonight.
We saw geese flying over the weekend. they were actually flying west. I got tickled at that!! I hope they will eventually go north! ;-) Reminded me of your "snow bird" friends!
You are a sweet friend to take a neighbor to the vet with her dog.

Sandy so sorry about your cable. How frustrating it must be! Maybe I will meet you in the laundry room. That is where I am spending much of my day today. ;-)

Gail how blessed to have such a repairman. Glad Sears called you but sorry the part isn't in!
Congrats on keeping away from the sugar and gluten! Sometimes there are benefits to not so much sun. But then again there are benefits to not so much cold. There is always something to desire. ;-)

Better run! Still much to do!!
Hugs to all!

Sandy we find that the cable company in our area is not reliable. Most everyone who had them in our community has switched in the past year or so because of that. Do you have any other options for your service? I have had my DSL thru my phone company and in 9 years have only had 2 issues. One was when my box went bad and they came out the next day and repaired it. The other issue was on their end and somehow a switch got flipped and they fixed it within a couple of hours. I sure hope you can get this resolved soon as I know it is really frustrating.
Gail glad you are communicating with the tech from Sears and hopefully before long the issue will be resolved. That is what our oldest grandson does! He was ranked in the top 5 techs in the state of MO for Sears.
We started the day on the cool side 61. We had 8 of us go to breakfast this morning and went to a different restaurant today. Our one friend wanted to try it before they head back north.
This afternoon I took our friend to our vet. Her shih-Tzu has been coughing and has a runny nose so she wanted to get her checked out before heading back north. She got a shot, antibiotics and cough pills! Hopefully she will be feeling better in a couple of days.

Between breakfast and that I managed to get in my walk and attend a finance committee meeting.

Good Morning:

Well, all you lucky ladies have sun; not I. That's a problem here in WI, not too much sun till the end of May/early June. Oh, yes, there are sunny days, but it's not as much as you in the south have.

Sears contacted me and told me the part for my gas range hasn't come in yet. Tomorrow's appointment is cancelled. I contacted the repairman (he gave me his cell number, bless him) and he will follow up. Sears is supposed to contact me to let me know when the order is supposed to come through.

As I mentioned, I'm going to see the OS Friday to discuss shoulder replacement. Well, this morning I called around a bit to see what services are available in the community that will allow me to remain in my home. I don't want to go to a rehab facility even though my insurance will cover it. Just taking it a day at a time.

I'm delighted I've kept away from gluten and refined sugar for several days now. Don't think it will be a problem...I hope not. Going to pick up a rotisserie chicken from the supermarket today; I try to get one when they're on sale.

Wishing you all a happy day,

Gail

Oh, Sandy, that is so frustrating. Guess customer service has gone out the window with these big companies. On rare occasions you can find someone like the range repairman I got from Sears.

Lisa: What's leftovers? LOL If I make a batch of something I need to immediately freeze it in portions or I nibble away at it till it's gone...usually in one day.

Did laundry most of the day and then on the phone all day with the cable company. There was an outage in the area and would not do anything about our problem till the outage was fixed. They are figuring that it will fix my problem. Well it hasn't. It was very frustrating. And of course they weren't going to be able to fix the outage till 6:30 or 8 PM tonight. The Supervisor I spoke to was to call me back after 6:30 PM to see if the problem was fix and of course they never called back. So I will spend the day call them to set up appoint for them to come out tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

We woke to a misty day-wasn't expecting that. I had to delay my walk a bit and then decided to brave the rain and go anyhow. It was very light and didn't even get wet, just damp.
Took Abbie to the groomer today. We had company and played some cards before heading to our RV luncheon. We had 17 come today. Nice visit with everyone. Most of them will be heading back north soon.
Another early start to our day tomorrow and then I have a meeting so.....no end in sight this week.

Good Morning!
It is another lovely sunny day here. Already 68 so looks like it could be a pretty warm day. We are having to be careful we don't dress baby too warmly these days. ;-)

Sandy so glad they are taking care of the truck issues. Great on the post! Wish we could find young folks to help out here. They are all too busy with their computer games. Allowances are given too easily and the kids don't have to work for them, sadly. Adult life is going to be hard for them in the future.

Gail so glad you are seeing such good results with no sugar and gluten free. Sorry it is so hard to get dressed! I am in Texas and no riding mower here. DD has decided she will take over the lawn mowing as it bothers my allergies and causes a miserable day for me. It is good exercise and I love being outside so I will miss it. But that does give me time to get some more things done! Thanks for another Ole joke!

Lisa will take a look at the leftover site. Compost piles are most difficult here due to fire ants.

Hope Everyone has a great day!

Good Morning:

Well, it's in the low 20s this morning. The weatherman promises it will climb to the 30s by this afternoon. Yeah!

Yesterday I got calls for 2 medical appointments. One was for PT. I was on a waiting list and was called straight away when someone cancelled. The second was for the OS...he had a spot at 9am Friday. Boy, that was quick. My last email to my internist for a referral was yesterday and the same day I got a call for the Friday appointment. I think someone must have cancelled because you don't usually get in that quick to see a specialist. In the meantime, I've been doing the PT stretches and have cut out sugar and gluten, and haven't had to take ibuprofen. My range of motion is also a bit better and it doesn't hurt so much when I stretch. Still is a pain in the butt to get dressed.

G.

DG: Do you have a rider mower? Also, where do you live?

Sandy: Goodness, sure hope you get the TV thing fixed once and for all.

Pat: Well, you sure had a productive day despite the rain. Sorry, but I can't feel too bad for you going straight to summer. You must be lovin' it.

Lisa: Here's another Ole and Lena joke for you:

The judge had just awarded a divorce to Lena, who had charged non-support. He said to Ole, "I have decided to give your wife $800 a month for support."

"Vell, dat's fine, Judge," said Ole. "And vunce in a while I'll try ta chip in a few bucks myself."

Thank you everyone. We are very happy that they are going to take of it. Well it rained all day today. DH found a kid to paint the post that we install which is saving us money and I don't have to buy new post. We are having problems again with our internet but, we think it has to do with the fact that the day after we had the internet guy out our neighbor had the same cable people out and he was in the same box. everything was working great. Then the next day it all went wacky. So, now I have to call them again. emoticon

Hope everyone is having a good start to their week. We have been busy with the business.

Hello Friends,
Pat sorry you don't have a Spring this year. We have gotten to Spring and it is high 70s and low 80s. Loved the sunshine today. Glad you got the sealing done. Seems like we go from one big job to another doesn't it?
Glad you had a productive day despite the rain. ;-)

Gail yes and the grass seems to have just gone crazy in the last half week of warmth and sunshine. It is going to be quite hard to mow as it is very thick now. Didn't get to mow to night as I had hoped had folks drop by the house and before I knew it the time was gone.

Going to hit the hay early tonight!

We woke to rain this morning. Weatherman had said it wouldn't start till about 10 am but it started during the night and lasted till after 1 this afternoon. That nixed me walking early so slept in as I felt a bit of extra rest would not hurt me.
Bill & I got busy and cleaned house this morning after breakfast. I also did 2 loads of laundry, we got the tv stand I got on Sat. put back together, I paid some bills, did a quick run thru of the Sunday papers and even watched a tv show we had recorded and fixed a roast for our dinner. I feel like it was a very productive day.

Good Morning:

I awoke to snow this morning. The lawns, streets and trees are all covered and the gusts of wind are blowing the snow as it falls. Definitely a day to stay put indoors. Our weather has been quite mild so this comes as a surprise.

I've been doing my PT stretches and I'm seeing a bit of improvement. No more pain and a bit more to reach with my left arm. I emailed my internist and he thinks I should speak with an OS to get an idea of where I should go from here. He also mentioned he had it in his notes to bring up surgery in my next visit. Well, it's time to explore my options.

Read and watched TV yesterday. PBS had some interesting programs. One was an operation during WWII whereby the British put some German generals in a fancy estate, treated them like guests and monitored their conversations. The Germans were provided access to newspapers, radio programs, etc. to put them at ease and let them know what was going on. The generals revealed great secret information when they spoke amongst themselves and many British lives were saved. For one thing, the Brits couldn't figure out how the Germans could hit their targets so accurately in the dark at night. Turns out they did it using radio waves. Well, with that tidbit the Brits started to scramble radio waves and that put an end to that. Some German pilots, thinking they were landing in Germany actually wound up landing in the UK. They did the same thing with the soldiers they captured and got a great insight as to the thoughts and attitudes of the rank and file as well as the atrocities that the Germans were perpetrating . During the war crimes trials after the war, none of the damning evidence they had obtained in the bugging was revealed because the Brits didn't want the soviets to know their techniques for acquiring this intelligence.

Going to try to finish my book today, THE KILLING FLOOR, by Lee Child. I read very fast, but if the mystery is very intense I can't stick with it all day. His books are like that.

Now, as for the Ole and Lena jokes, I suspect they were mostly written by Swedes. LOL There is a rivalry between those two groups you know. Here in Wisconsin we have mostly Norwegians, but Minnesota and the Dakotas got mostly Swedes. The jokes are often very funny and it's great to read through them, especially if you need a good chuckle.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Gail

Pat: Hey, if you find you have nothing to do one day and can't sit still you are welcome to come and beautify my yard. LOL I have trees and shrubs and spring/summer perennials but some more color would be lovely.

Sandy: Glad the dealership is doing right by you.

DG: Mowing already! It will be a month or more before we even think of that. You have quite a bit to mow. Do you garden and have fruit trees?

Val: Were you able to sleep when you cut out the coffee? How did your days go. You had a lot to do and seemed eager to pack a lot into each day. Any friends or relatives around who might be able to help you?

Lisa and Nan: What are your plans this week?

Sandy so happy that the dealership did the honorable and right thing by you. I agree that word of mouth advertising gives a business more bang for their buck than anything they pay for.

We have gone straight from winter into summer-no spring. I normally love Mar and Apr but we are already seeing temps in the high 80's and that isn't good as we should be in the mid 70's! Oh well, it is what it is.

I did finish the sealing of the concrete edging and that is a relief. emoticon

Lena goes to the doctor and complains that her husband Ole is losing interest in (Vell ya know). The doctor gives her a pill, but warns her that it is still experimental and tells her to slip it into some of Ole's mashed potatoes at dinner.

About a week later, Lena is back at the doctor.

Lena says, "Doc, da pill verked great! I put it in da potatoes like you said! It wasn't five minutes, and Ole jumps up, rakes all da food and dishes on da floor, grabs me, rips all my clothes off, and ravages me right there on da table!"

The doctor says, "I'm sorry, we didn't realize the pill was that strong. The foundation will be glad to pay for any damages."

"Naah," Lena says, "Dat's okay. Ve aren't going back ta dat restaurant anyvay."

Sandy, I'm also very glad that the dealership is going to do the right thing by you, and especially that the person who tried to screw you is in trouble. I'm not at all sure that it would have been legal for them to have changed your interest rate (I think that was the problem) after you'd signed the paperwork. But even if it would have been legal, it's a dirty rotten trick to play on a customer. And I'll tell you something, when things like this happen to me I go out of my way to tell a LOT of people about my experience. If a business does wrong by me, I makes sure that everyone I know is aware of it. And if a business fixes a significant problem like what this guy was trying to do to you, I make sure that everyone I know is aware of that, too. This is how we can encourage businesses to operate with good practices, by using the power of our voices. Businesses can pay a lot of money for advertising that they hope a lot of people will see, but they get the most bang for their buck by taking advantage of good word of mouth advertising, and they can only get that by operating ethically and making their customers happy. Okay, down off my soap box now. emoticon

I haven't slept well the last couple of nights because I drank coffee too late in the day on both of the last 2 days. Now I've got my days off and I'm going to stay completely away from coffee today so that I can be sure to sleep well tonight. This afternoon I'm going to watch the NASCAR race that's being run in Fontana, California, clean the cat boxes, and take out the trash. Oh, I need to bring in laundry I did on Wednesday or Thursday, too. And the license plate and registration for my new used car came in the mail yesterday so I need to go put the plate on my car. Those are really all of the things I have to get done today, and they could really happen tomorrow if I decide I'm too tired to do them today. Tomorrow I have to mail a package, refill some prescriptions, pay a couple of bills and make a trip to Wal Mart. Then it's back to work again on Tuesday.

Gail, are you feeling better about things now, or are you still beating yourself up for having a bad day? I hope that you're being kinder to yourself than you were a few days ago. You've been through so much in recent years and you really do need to give yourself a break now and then. Pat and DG, are you having some nicer weather now that spring is finally here? I know I was really happy to see winter end earlier than usual this year. I'm so glad that our winter here wasn't as cold as what some of the country has been dealing with. I'm just getting too old for that these days. emoticon

I'm sure I have more that I should say, but I'm tired and I can't think of what it would be at the moment. I hope that you're all having a really great weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

Hurray I am here early today. LOL Well not by choice, the dogs don't seem to know it is a morning we can sleep a bit later so their schedule doesn't change and I am up sooner than I had wanted to be. ;-)

Pat didn't realize DH#1 was disabled as well as passed at a young age. Mercy you had your hands full! I have a Dear Aunt that was widowed 3 times!! I don't even want to think about that!
Congrats on the yard sale find and now being able to move your tv to the room where you want it!! What kind of picture would you like to hang where the tv used to be? I have a ocean scene in my bedroom, an actual photo my son took at the beach when we were there 4 yrs ago. (He is a professional stock photographer and sells his pics on the internet.) In the living room I have a black smith barn photo that I purchased for my Dad when I was in Jr High. He was so surprised by it when he first saw it in the store with me. He said it could be him standing outside his Dad's smithy and the old swimming hole was just past that large tree!! I saved my baby sitting money and bought it for him that Christmas! ;-)

Sandy glad the dealership is making it right! I would think it would be very bad publicity for them if they didn't fix it! Builds loyalty if they do things right and listen to their customers. Hurray!! Now you don't have to spend time trying to find another!! Hope it is a good truck for many years to come!

Coffee is ready, anyone want a cup? It is Vanilla Nut! Hope Everyone has a good Lord's day!!

So, I took the truck in and talked the finance guy. He explained about the APR on the financing which was just a happen at the same time we were having problems with the salesman. Dan, the finance guy, listened to what we had to say and talked to his boss, who said lets fix it. When we went over to the Service dept. and looked up what was done before there was nothing there about fixing. So, now they are going to fix. The service guy asked us a lot of questions about where the water was coming in possible. We explained everything to him and the mold smell. He said he will take care of all of that for us and make sure it is fixed right. So, We are just dealing with the finance guy now only. He was not happy with the way things ware handled nor was his boss. I pretty much gave it to them and now things are being taken care of and the salesperson is in trouble.

I went to the post office and the store. We also got some brunch too. Now I am relaxing at home.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Sandy I do hope you will be able to return the truck. Sometimes once you sign that contract then you are stuck. I just hope it is a reputable deal and that is nervy of your salesman to not put his lunch aside to help you for a few minutes. Good luck.

Gail I hope things have gone better for you today. Some days you step in it and come out smelling like a rose and other days, well, you know what I mean! I was in a tizzy this week about something and hopefully it is all resolved now but kept me from having a good night's sleep one night!

DG it seems you too are a busy lady. I know what you mean about doing what 2 used to. DH #1 was disabled for 9 yrs and I did it all then besides working full time and going to night school to get my degree. Now DH #2 isn't able to do much so I am still doing pretty much everything. Between them-I was on my own but younger and it didn't seem so hard to keep up and work but now it takes longer and seems to be a lot more work. I don't quibble when I know it is something I can't do and I hire it done!

I SCORED today on my yard sale hunt. We changed things in our family room and still have a tv hanging on the wall behind our sofa because DH can't find the stand for it so I can't take it down to set it in the Florida room. I have been looking into purchasing a stand to mount it on but wasn't wanting to spend as much as they are. Well, today I found one at a yard sale. I got it for $30!!! The man told me he paid $350 for it and he wanted $50 and I offered him $30 and he accepted. I looked it up online when I got home and it retailed for $400 so SCORE a big win for me and now I can get that tv off the wall and out where I want it. Of course, now I am on the hunt for a picture to hang there!

Hello Friends!
Sorry I am been MIA again! It is such a busy time right now. 4 different sets of company were supposed to come and 2 had to cancel and then another rescheduled for dinner tonight. ;-)
Gail thanks for coming to check on me! All is well thanks!! Still a long list to do today. I am "fighting" hard to not be over whelmed. The Lord knows what I can handle and I am just trying to juggle and do all that 2 of us used to do. With the rain and warmer weather it is now time to start mowing the yard again and I live on a 1/4 acre so mowing takes me a full morning each week. Sorry not complaining just explaining the "to do" list. ;-)

Pat your bench sounds lovely! I agree Chipotle is not on my favorite list. I am not sure what folks are so impressed by it. ;-) We seem to be doing a restaurant review this post! I have found Texas Roadhouse to be different at different locations. Some I like and some are too noise and draw the wrong crowds like you found. Some have louder music and different types of music too. I don't like to toss the peanut shells on the floor and every one finds that funny! ;-) Guess being a Mom it just seems like a lot of unnecessary work! ;-)
Hope you had a nice dinner last night and that the blackberry cobbler wasn't too over done. I have defrosting the freezer (in the garage) on the to do list for June this year! I will need it to be hot to get all that ice out of there without freezing to death. LOL I will sort through food then too.

Sandy did the cable problem get solved? Sounds like you might have!! Hope it keeps working well. Oh they can cause such headaches!
Oh so sorry you had to take the truck back but I agree with you! I wouldn't want to be treated that way either! Hope you find a better truck at a better price quickly.

Val hope your knees are feeling better! How is your car are you getting more used to it? DS#2 left his Mustang here since his move and said I could drive it when I wanted to. It is a manual transmission and I learned to drive on one so that is no problem. It is all the pictures and dials on the turn signal stick and the windshield wiper stick that confuse me! I wish they had never changed from words! Aye, aye, aye!!

Gail you are right, the dogs are a lot of work. Especially this last few days, the 17 yr old Sheltie is not doing well. The Vet would put her down but I just don't want to do that. So I carry her out to potty and watch her like a hawk as she is confused about where she is and can't find her way back to the house. Last night she went to the neighbors front door not mine. I have to chuckle as how difficult she makes it for herself. Our door was open, had the light on and was so much closer than the meander she took to the neighbors. But such is life. She has watched over me and been a great companion I can certainly care for her for a little while. I do think she won't be with us much longer. That was why I got the puppy last summer. I don't think I will get another dog for a pal for him. One at a time is plenty!
I have had my share of flopped dinners! I am so thankful DD loves to cook and I am happy to do the clean up after! Nice that neither of us has to do it all! ;-)
Gail how long did it take you to do all you wanted to do at your house? I have such a long to do list I wonder if I will ever get it all done. So happy for you that your Grand daughter loved all you have done at your house. That must make you feel happy and proud of your efforts!
Thankfully DS has had his dog since January. She is a good dog but the 2 big "puppies" (as each are less than a yr old) were sure full of energy. With all the rain we have had this Spring they would have been crazy inside the house or would have been mud balls when they came in after being out very long at all. DS's dog has gotten used to him and loves his girlfriend as does she love the dog. That is a good thing if they hope to marry! Both "pups" still need quite a bit of training but I can't do much until it isn't so muddy here and we can really go for walks.

Nana - you snuck in while I was typing! ;-) Hope you have a great weekend too! ;-)

Ok, once again I think I am caught up to date with the team's post! ;-) I hope to exercise and get some more done from my to do list, today! I am glad I have dinner with friends to look forward to. We have known one another for a very long time and it is always nice to visit with folks that knew my DH well.

Blessings to all and hope you all have a wonder weekend!

Good Morning:

Well, nothing horrible happened yesterday, but it was just one of those days. Before the concert last night I stopped for coffee. When I went to the ladies room I discovered that I lost an earring I really like and that I had spilled coffee all over my white fancy sweater. No, it wasn't expensive; something I got at a thrift shop, but I really liked it. As for the sweater, I'm confident the coffee stain will most likely come out in the wash.

I got an email from France yesterday from a PhD candidate who wants my permission to translate my father-in-law's publications from the 1920s. Of course, I agreed. My fil would have wanted to help this man with his educational pursuits. I just told him to let me know what he needs from me. A signed and notarized statement perhaps?

Gail

Sandy: So sorry about the truck. I don't blame you one bit for taking it back. As for the bank and the interest rate, if you and they already signed papers I'm sure it is a legal document and binding. Too bad for them.

Pat: I very rarely throw food away and shudder at the thought. Too many years in poverty.

DG: How goes it? When will you be returning the dogs to your son? Ever think of getting one for yourself?

Val: Still cleaning through things?

Well, the truck is going back. What we thought was fixed was not fixed. And when we called about it and tried to talk to the guy that sold us the Truck he basically said "I'm busy eating my lunch and I don't have time. And you will have to pay for this to be fixed." Then after that I get a call telling me that the APR that I was, which was 3.99%, was wrong that it is 4.99% and I need to come in and sign different papers. With that I was done with the whole deal. Told DH that he needs to get everything out of the truck as we are going to take it back. I just don't like to be treated the way I was. So, we will find another one some place else.

Otherwise it was a good day and I did get things done. Gail, I don't really fall asleep and just get into a deep mediation. I get pretty go at it. Well, tomorrow I have to go to the store and post office. It is suppose to rain tomorrow. it has been raining on and off today.

Hope that everyone has a great weekend.

Gail sorry things didn't work as planned. Hopefully your oven thermostat is ok. Do you have an oven thermometer so you can check it? I am working on cleaning out our freezers as we have way too much food in there for 2 people and it needs to be used up or I am going to have to pitch it! Well, this afternoon I pulled out a frozen blackberry cobbler to bake as we are going to dinner at friends and I thought this would be a great way to use it up as it isn't too large and Bill hates blackberry anything. The crust burnt on the outside edges so will have to dip from the middle but I still plan to take it!

This has been a rather laid back day. I was up by 6:30 and out to walk by 7. Bill & his buddies went to the emoticon shop about 8:30. Bob says he only has 1 more apple fritter before he heads back home. emoticon
I did a second lap with Abbie after the guys left. She enjoys her morning walk. We had sun for about 5 minutes and then the fog rolled in and it was with us till almost 10 this morning. I got busy and fertilized all of the main palms on common ground after my walk and used almost one of my containers but hoping that will help them.
Bill got home about the same time as I did and I got him busy on cutting the grass/sod from the concrete edging and I got out the can of sealer from last year. I had about 1/3 of a can left so I used that up today. I got half of the east side of our house done and then moved to the west side as Bill was busy cleaning the grass away on the other end there. I got the edging on the bed in the middle of our yard done and I got about 1/2 of the west side of the house done. I will finish those 2 halves and Bill can work on cleaning the sod away from the bed on the back side of the house. It will likely be next week before we get back on it as tomorrow is yard sale day and Sunday is church. We are to get some rain next week so will have to play it by ear.
I haven't accomplished much since that - had to relax my back so have watched some tv and knocked a few of those recorded shows off the list. I also got the last 2 days of newspapers read and cut out the coupons I thought I might use!
We are invited to eat dinner with Bob & Ellie this evening. He is making homemade chicken and dumplings. The blackberry cobbler will be our contribution to the meal. I am trying to use up some of the "food stuff" we have in our freezers. Way too much food in there for 2 people!!
Bob & Ellie are trying to use up what they have as they head back north on the 30th.

Good Morning:

I had a friend for dinner last night and what a disaster! I'm usually a very good cook, but since Vic died a couple of years ago I've made a few unbelievably bad dishes. Yesterday I put a whole chicken and two potatoes in the oven and baked it at 350 for 1 1/2 hours. Neither browned and the chicken didn't even looked cooked through. I quickly used my convection oven at a higher heat and by the time we were ready to eat the chicken had browned a bit, was cooked through and was passable. I thought I'd fix some frozen veggies...various colored peppers and onions. BAD CHOICE. I think the only thing they might be good for is an omelet. I quickly put together a salad. Well, at least I didn't mess up the dessert...cantaloupe. Last week I made a hind quarter of baked chicken and it was great. Don't understand what happened. Anything like this ever happen to you?

Going to a concert tonight and that's all I have planned for today.

Hope you are all having better weather.

Gail

Sandy: You fall asleep when you meditate. I cannot keep awake when I listen to a recorded book!

Pat: Sounds like your dinner was terribly disappointing yesterday. Sounds like it was very unpleasant. We have a Burger/Bar here near me that has good food. Going there at noon is fine, but Vic and I went once at night after a concert and it was AWFUL. It was unbelievably loud, the music was blasting and the beer was flowing. Will never go there again at night.

Gail sorry the Perform didn't help you at all. It alleviates the pain long enough for Bill to get to sleep. When Bill had his shoulder surgery, he slept in the recliner for nearly a month and I had to help him do everything for about a month. You might need to go to rehab for a couple of weeks till you get self sufficient at some tasks that are essential.

I worked on the park gardens this morning and this afternoon met up with friends and we did some looking at thrift stores and met some of our ILL friends for an early dinner. Sorry to say we were terribly disappointed in Texas Roadhouse. Too cold, too noisy, had a group in the booth behind us who were obnoxious (loud and likely imbibed a few before arriving) and friends med. rare steaks were med. well when they arrived.

We are getting rain now-much needed as it has been hot and dry.

Gail - I do mediate from time to time. When the boys are not around. Mostly at night when they go to bed I am able to. I use to be really good at it. I had a friend that I would do it with and he would laugh as I would go pretty good that he would have to wake me. HA! He said he wish he could do that. When I took nursing we had a class and I did the same thing. That was embarrassing. Good thing I didn't snore or anything. HA! emoticon

I had the cable guy out today. So that took up my whole day waiting for them to come out. Of course they went through the same thing and check the lines and couldn't find anything wrong. But, this guy said I am going to up grade you to different boxes and see if that will help and stop the problem. The only problem he did fine was in the Master bedroom and that box was giving off electricity. Whatever that means. The guys says it shouldn't make a difference but, changing the boxes and Modem might just solve the problem. So far the internet is a lot faster than it was. And we are not getting pixels on the TV so far. Did get a load of laundry done as DH need some shirts for tomorrow. Got a little chilly here. We are excepting rain for the weekend.

Hope everyone a wonderful weekend!

Thanks everyone for your support. The PT gave me some new exercises and told me that I should not try to push myself to the point of pain. It's not a case of no pain/no gain.

As for shoulder replacement, the PT suggested I make an appointment with the OS who specializes in shoulder replacement. Besides this shoulder I'm in very good shape healthwise. I have excellent insurance, Medicare and Unity, so that's not a problem. But I do want to stay home. The insurance will cover a home health aide, I'm sure. The thing of it is I hear it takes about 5 months before you're completely healed. We'll see.

The food was better yesterday, though not perfect. It was a whole lot better than the day before. No binging. I stopped and got some hot and sour soup for lunch and that really hit the spot. Today I'll make a a lentil soup.

My granddaughter stopped by yesterday to see the "new" house. She lives in Chicago now and doesn't get back to Madison often. Well, she was blown away and really loved everything. I'm so glad. I love it too. The chairs I ordered should be here in about a month. It will be great.

Gail

Val: So sorry you're having problems with your knees. Do you take anything for the pain?

Pat: I tried Perform and didn't like it at all. It didn't help. Got to go for something else. The PT said that with arthritis there are peaks and valley's. It doesn't stay the same. I'm going to go back to cutting out gluten and sugar. Going off didn't help my weight or my well-being.

Sandy: So glad you found some time for yourself and finally got your hair cut. Sounds like you got a lot done yesterday. BTW, do you ever meditate? That's something I've dabbled with but have to get into it more.

DG: I can see you smiling when you speak of the pups, but they are a lot of work, aren't they. See, much as I want a dog or two, I'm not prepared to walk them in the horrible weather, never being able to sleep in, and cleaning up after them every day. My life is so uncomplicated now and I love it.

Gail, you have nothing to feel guilty about. We all have our ups and downs, and you've gotten a lot farther than I have so far, so just try to give yourself a break once in a while. You've been through a lot in recent years and I think that everyone understands when you have a down day or two (or three...)...except for yourself. You're doing great and all of your hard work is going to pay off sooner or later. If not this week, then maybe next week. Or next month. Or whenever. For now, here's a big hug for you. emoticon emoticon

We've finally gotten some rain this evening, and it's about darn time. My knees have really been bugging me for a couple of days, so maybe now they'll calm down a bit and let me have some peace. I hope that things are going really well for all of you wonderful gals out there. Have a fabulous rest of the week.

There was much rejoicing!

Gail - Please don't feel a shame or guilty. It happens to all of us every once in a while. Please hang in there. It will get better. If you had shoulder surgery couldn't you stay with your daughter for a while? Or her with you.

I did some work on the books today and made a roast. I went through some more boxes to clean out. Worked in our garage today to get things cleaned out. Well, I have the cable guys coming out again. We are still having the same problems but worse with the cable and internet. I have know idea if they are going to figure this out or not. I am about ready to go back to the other cable network that we had. We only have a few choices. I won't do Direct TV do the weather we have here. I guess we will see what happens tomorrow.

Have a great evening everyone.

I have been busy all day but haven't accomplished much. Wed is breakfast day and I was up by 6:15 and did a short walk before doing last night's dishes and putting a few curls in my hair and we were off by 7:15. On our way home, we stopped at Lowe's and I picked up 2 concrete pavers to place the new bench on. It is now placed and ready to be used!

Our monthly meeting was at 10 so I didn't have a lot of time to waste before heading to that. I didn't get home till almost 12:30 and then got a couple of cards ready and into the mail. We were going to lunch with friends at 1:30. We went to Chipotle-1st time. In my book it isn't a place I would want to go to often-not a lot of good choices for me and a bit pricey - at least to me.

I have a lot of yard work I need to do but too hot out there right now so hoping I have the energy to go out later this evening.

Hello Dear Friends,
Pat so glad you enjoyed the dinner!!

Sandy thankfully I have made progress this week. With the rain and 8 muddy doggie feet to spread the mud (even with wiping their feet) it just makes more dust than we've had for a long time. So it is a constant battle to keep things tidy! ;-) Thanks for being willing to come help!

Gail please don't feel guilty and shame. None of us are perfect, we are human and always make mistakes and bad choices. That is actually why Jesus came because He knew we were imperfect and couldn't be united with God the Father with out someone paying that debt as the wages of sin is death. When we accept Christ as our redeemer He takes that guilt and shame and gives us His strength to helps us do better and when we slip and fall again He forgives us. No need to carry that shame and guilt any longer. So please go to your therapy and get some help for your shoulder. The therapist may fuss a little but if you say we are all imperfect and goof up they can't argue as they too know they mess up! Hugs and hope you keep taking one step forward and if you take some steps backward then don't give up and keep moving back ward but
be determined to learn from the experiences and move forward again. Hugs!! and More Hugs!!!

Ok off to exercise and get some more things done around here! ;-)
