Val you don't normally get much snow do you? Glad it didn't hang around too long. I hope you and your mom also had some fun and not all work. Enjoy your last couple of days off.

We got 10 inches of snow yesterday! 4 in the morning that melted off by the afternoon, and then 6 more in the evening and overnight. There was still quite a bit of snow on the ground this morning so we didn't go out to do anything until about 11:00 when it had at least melted off the parking lot and the roads. It got down to 19 degrees last night but luckily it has warmed back up to 39 degrees this afternoon. Man alive, I'm tired of winter. emoticon

Mom is going to leave and drive back home tomorrow morning. We've had a nice visit and gotten a lot done, and now Daddy needs her more than I do. He doesn't really do that well when she's not at home. It's not that he can't take care of himself or anything like that, it's mostly just that his emotional well being suffers. We've gotten a lot done while she's been here. We've thrown away a lot of junk and organized the stuff that's staying, so hopefully moving will be easier this summer.

I'll be going back to work on Tuesday so I'll use the rest of my weekend to rest up. I hope that the rest of you are having a fantastic weekend. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

DG we have to sign up for the party by the month of our birth and then they ask for volunteers to decorate the table for their month and it is to go along with the month-like this year Dec was about angels. November was pilgrims, since Aug (my birth month) doesn't have any big holidays, the person decorating chose to just go with Rock & Roll this year. Another year they did a Lucille Ball theme since she had an Aug birthday and we had someone to dress up like her. It is always a lot of fun and a lot of work goes into getting ready for the party.
Sandy happy that they are paying for the truck without delay. That is always good and if you eventually decide to replace it, you will have the $$$.
Winter just does not want to leave us-we were supposed to get to 79 today (or so the weatherman said mid week) but we never got past 65 and it has rained since about 11 so cool and damp. It made me tired and I ended up taking a 90 min. nap!
I was up early and went to several yard sales with friends while Bill went for coffee and donuts with the guys. There were 5 of them today and they seem to enjoy the ritual.
I still have not gotten the rose bush planted but have high hopes that I will soon.

Hello Dear Friends!
We have had winter all week! Snow and/or ice every day but one. Still snow and ice on the ground now but it is melting. Maybe ice on the roads early tomorrow morning so will see about going to church. We are enjoying winter while we have it! Tomorrow starts "Spring" again. Then next week they tell us we will have rain almost every day!! Sure praying it is so!! ;-)
DD and I have gotten quite a bit of house cleaning done today. We 2 dogs they keep us busy when it is muddy. We try to keep a large towel at the back door for them to walk in on and then we stop them and wipe their feet but it doesn't do the complete job! Sometimes they come in too fast and 60 lbs at a fast run in hard for us to catch! LOL

Pat the monthly birthday party sounds like fun! Does someone do the decorating?
Sorry about your fall! So good you weren't hurt more. It seems so easy to break a hip and that would have been awful!

Sandy congrats to DH for selling the car so successfully! Sorry your truck has to be totaled but better than them trying to fix it and finding out it never can run well.
Thanks for checking on me. It has been a busy week! I did get the friend's quilt done. Called to tell them and the wife is down with her back so she wants me to wait to bring it until she feels better and is up to a visit. I am good with that but thought they might want the quilt for the cold weather. Evidently not! ;-)

Gail it is nice you enjoy reading so much. Helps you fill those long days of yucky weather! Hope Spring comes to you soon!! When will daffodils, crocuses and hyacinths begin to bloom in your area? Is it usually March or April? Easter is only 5 weeks away! That is amazing!
I have thought of getting audio books for long road trips. Wouldn't be good if they made me sleepy!! ;-)
Congrats on the 5 fruits and veggies and getting the water too!! Way to go!! Good idea about the salad. I agree about salads in winter so usually go with a vegetable soup to get the veggies.

Lisa so glad your cat is better. Hope she continues to improve. My Sheltie is almost 17 yrs old and her health is failing. She isn't in pain either but just getting old and feeble.
I too am looking forward to fresh veggies from the garden! Last Sunday before *winter* hit we found a piece of asparagus in the garden so added it to an omelet! ;-) Love it when the asparagus comes in!!

Val nice you have had such a good visit with your Mom and a productive one too. Sorry you need a new car but praying you will find a good one that will service you well and for a long time and not be too pricey!
Wonderful that you got a replacement car already!! What color is it? I dread the day I need to replace my car!

Hope Everyone has a good Lord's Day!! Blessings to All!

Well, we got a good deal on the truck and we got the check. I will pick up the mail and then then deposit the check tomorrow. DH is taking me to brunch tomorrow. Things are starting to pick up with business. Things are getting better.

Pat - DH is just like your DH. The only way DH cooks is if DS helps him otherwise he will take me out.

Vali - I am so glad that you are having a good time with your Mom. Congrats! on your New used car. I glad you got a new one it sounded like it was time.

Gail - You have been doing good. emoticon

DG - How are you doing?

Copperpenny - I think it is wonderful that you make all those clothes for the children.

LLREED - I love salads also. You are getting so bad weather were you are I hope it gets better soon.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Val so happy you found a car and hope you love your Honda. We had an Odyssey and loved it. It didn't get the greatest gas mileage in town so that pushed us to buy a Prius and we love getting about 48 MPG in tow vs the 18-20 we were getting. I bet you do really good with the Civic. That van got 26 on trips which was great but that wasn't the main use so......enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Oh, was it one of the cars on recall because of the airbags? Check that out with your dealer.
Glad you and mom have gotten so much done. Sounds like you will be ready to move in a few months. Did you find any apartments you like?
Gail good job on getting in those fruits and veggies. I am limited to 2 fruits a day but pushing the veggies-do well some days and others not so good. After a couple of days of anti-inflammatory drugs I am doing good.
We have been overcast today and never broke above 63 but with the wind from the north it didn't feel very warm. Hoping the weatherman got it right and we get into the 80's next week. Time to get back to more normal temps!

I eat salads all year, too, but get tired of them sometimes and have to get me a head of cauliflower and/or broccoli. I'm trying to get the SO to eat more veggies but he doesn't like most of them and the others are too hard for him to chew without his bottom teeth. He's a pain.

Looking forward to fresh veggies from the garden.

I love salads all year long and I've been eating a lot of them recently. I just have to be careful about how much iceburg lettuce I eat because sometimes it gives me diarrhea. I try to mostly use cut up hearts of romaine for my salads and that seems to work out okay.

Today Mom and I went to the Honda dealership and I bought a used Honda Civic. They get better gas mileage than my Volvo and they cost a lot less to maintain. It's a 2012 model with about 36,000 miles on it and it was a leased vehicle so it's only had one previous owner. No accidents. Hopefully it will work out well.

Mom and I have been working hard to go through all of my stuff and either organize things or throw them away. We've also taken quite a bit of stuff to Goodwill. All of this work should make it much easier to move out of here this summer. My life is finally starting to fall into place...more or less... emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

LLREED:

I LOVE salads. In summer it's not a problem, but in winter who wants to eat cold things? Here's what I do. I fix a huge salad in the morning and let it sit on the counter so that by the time I'm ready for it, it's room temperature. Most importantly, it's already made so I can get right to it. Today I had some for lunch and the remainder for dinner: 2C lettuce; 1 Roma tomatoe, 7 fresh mushrooms, 3 mini peppers, 6 green olives. It came to a total of 4 veggie servings. In the morning I had an apple and 1/2 banana, so that makes 6 servings. Really works for me.

Yeah, I'm like that with audio, too. emoticon with the veggies! I'm trying to do that, too but it's kind of hard sometimes. I've been craving sugar and carbs for a week but the more freggies I eat, the less I crave other stuff. Just need to keep fresh produce around.

Yesterday I read one book and started another. In the evening I watched some TV. I'm thinking of going down to basic cable since I only watch a little TV in the evening and it's almost always the PBS or CBS. No use shelling out big bucks for something I don't use. Now that I have an HD radio I can get classical music all day without advertising and interruptions. I used to use the TV classical music channel but don't even use that any more. Any of you just have basic cable?

Yesterday I started the goal of consuming a minimum of 5 fruits and veggies/ day and it went well. I got in 6 servings. Still, my appetite is raging. Can't seem to get a grip. Any suggestions?

Gail

Sandy: Sorry to learn your truck will be totaled. If you can work things out with this employee it would really be good.

Val: Bummer that you'll have to get a new car. Do they know what caused the problem? Would it be worth it to replace the engine? If it only has 50,000 miles on it, it might be worth it.

Pat: How is your ankle? You'll probably need to stay off your feet for a few days. As for reading, I'm sure you are aware that there are audio books you can get from the library. Have you ever tried it? I can't seem to use them because withing 5 minutes they put me to sleep! LOL

I've been having a really great time with my mom here and we've really been accomplishing a lot as far as cleaning and throwing away stuff I don't need goes. And we've been having a really great time together, too.

Unfortunately I found out today that I'm going to have to buy a new car. (Or, more accurately, a new used car.) The car I've got is a 2007 (I think, maybe 2011) Volvo with less than 50,000 miles on it...and it's paid for. But the head gasket is broken, which means that the coolant and the oil are mixing, which will quickly destroy my engine. emoticon So tomorrow Mom and I are going to go to the Volvo dealership to look for another used car. I don't know that I necessarily want another Volvo (they get terrible gas mileage) but I do feel like I can probably get a better trade in value from them even though they know that my car has this problem, just as sort of a reward for loyalty. (I've bought several cars from them already.)

I really, really hate owing money and this stupid car is paid for, but I do need one that won't die on me in a few weeks, which this one absolutely will do. emoticon At least we caught it before it did that. My credit cards are almost paid off and I actually have some money in savings, so at least I'm not in as bad a shape as I was when I had to buy this car...

So that's the state of my world today. I hope that the rest of you have been having a really great week. Hopefully I'll feel more chatty next week when my apartment is tidy and I've got a fully working vehicle and my mom has gone home. Have a great weekend...and stay warm. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy the only way DH cooks is by taking me out!! That is his idea of fixing me a meal. I wish he did like to cook. Sorry about the truck but great that your worker is willing to use his own vehicle. We used to pay expenses for our workers when they used their vehicle for our business.

Gail glad you are able to stay in and enjoy reading. I am not enjoying it much with the eye issues-reading just isn't the fun it used to be and I hate that. I have to make sure I sit right and have the light coming in the windows just so so that I can read the newspapers these days. I guess I need to check another book out and read it on my tablet but now is the busy time in the gardens so guess maybe that will happen when the weather gets really hot.

I am feeling better today after my fall last evening-I am thankful I didn't sprain or break my ankle and I am just sore where I twisted as I was going down and then I hit the side of the golf cart pretty hard. DH swears he didn't release the brake but it lurched backwards just as I was stepping up to get in and that really threw me off balance-hence the fall.

We were cooler today but I still got out and limped around the park this morning. I got my floors steam mopped and our sheets washed and back on the bed before 11 when friends arrived. We had lunch with them and then played cards this afternoon. The guys finally managed to win 2 out of 3 games.

Hoping to work in the park tomorrow and get more done in the gardens-I had 2 helpers who worked and cleaned one long bed today-that is a relief. We still have 5 more beds to do so it isn't over yet. I am getting the new palm installed next Tues so will be happy to have it in the ground. My major goal is to get all the beds ready so they can be mulched before the weather gets so hot. I hate for our maint. men to have to spread mulch when it is 90+.

Well, just got word that they are totally the truck. So, now we are out of a truck. We are not sure if we are going to get another one or not as our New worker said that he can use his if we fill his tank. Which we would. It would be a lot less of an expressive on us and save us a lot of money.

Gail - Thank you. Yes, it would be nice if I had dinner fixed for me like that more often. but, that won't happen.

Hope that everyone has a great weekend.

Thanks for the shout-out, Gail. I agree about the weather; I don't think I'll ever warm up. I used to hate the heat, but was cold pretty much all last summer and freezing ever since. Staying home and reading sounds good to me.

I've rediscovered a website www.mercola.com/ and have really enjoyed a lot of the information there. Thinking about ordering his book. Only problem is: the more I read about how bad sugar and flour are, the more I crave both.

Update on the cat: she seems to be getting better; she's finally out from under the buffet and has been drinking and finally ate a little today. Still a little wobbly, but doesn't seem to be in any pain.

By Jimminy the weather sucks. So glad to be cozy inside reading. I started a Beaton mystery from the Agatha Raisin series yesterday, DEATH OF AN ENGLISHMAN. It's a quick read so I should finish it today and start the next Jo Nesbo mystery, THE SNOWMAN.

Hope you all stay warm and safe.

Gail

Sandy: How great that your husband sold the car so quickly. Also very nice that DH and DS made dinner. Bet you wish they did that more often.

Pat: You are the social butterfly! Two get-togethers in one day!

DG: So glad the zinc works for you. It's great when we find something like that.

Val: Where are you? Mom visiting?

Nan: You snowed in?

Lisa: Stop by and tell us what's happening with you.

Picked up the mail and went to the store and the bank. DH and DS fixed dinner while I was out running around. Still waiting on word about the Truck on whether they can fix it or not. DH put his car on Craigslist yesterday and sold it in 15 minutes after putting it on. He never drives it and it just sits in the garage. So, he figured it was better to sell it and get the money and pay a few bills. We will just share my car and we have the trucks. It is back to the rain today. It only got to 50 today.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

We are down in the 60's today with a misty rain during midday but it has cleared up now and sun is shining.
We had breakfast and 18 showed up today. We didn't get home till about 9 so got out for my walk and then started in on projects I had on my to-do list for today. Vickie & I got 2 of the new climbing roses planted, DH helped me clean house-he ran the vacuum, I got things dusted, etc, laundry is done again, and let Abbie play for about 15 min with another furry friend.
We have the annual birthday party this evening. It is always fun. The tables are decorated with a theme for each month and cake and ice cream is served. Everyone sits at the table of their birth month so everyone is visiting with people they might not normally sit by.

Hello all!! We finally got snow today. LOL it is already melted and gone but at least I got to watch it fall! So pretty!!

Pat sorry DH fell and hurt himself but glad it wasn't any worse. So nice you have someone dependable to hire to help with your own plants. Your thrift store finds sound great!!

Sandy glad your mail is safe and will be safer once the new box is installed. Hope the truck is fixed well.

Gail so glad you enjoy your new surroundings and they bring you peace and joy. How kind of the repairman to fix the tables and the sofa.
Wonderful that the chicken soup helped!!
There are store brands but the name brand is Cold-eeze. That is about all it is, is zinc. Zinc absorbs better through the mouth than swallowing zinc tablets. Used at first symptoms of a cold it will often knock it out. It lesses symptoms other wise. My Aunt's Physician's Assistant told her about them and we have used them ever since.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Gail happy that your furniture is now fixed and you are happy with it all. It has to be so nice to have all your space empty of all the clutter and filled with items that you like-makes a big difference-at least to me-I can't stand too much clutter. Less is more in my book.
Hope you are feeling better. I am sure the chicken soup was as good as medicine from the dr. As a kid I always got Campbell's chicken noodle soup when ill!
Sand it is great your truck is now in the shop and they have started work on it. You might be surprised how quickly they get it done-they don't like to keep vehicles any length of time as that isn't making them $$. Happy you have a nice rental to use till it is fixed.
Bill's thumb is a bit swollen today and is quite sore as is his whole body from the fall. I am thankful he didn't break his hip again. He sort of slid down the house which helped to break his fall somewhat-he hurt the thumb when he put his hand out to catch himself and got cut hitting my plants!!
I am sore today-guess I worked too hard and too long yesterday but it will pass. I will just keep moving - muscles I hadn't used for awhile got used! I walked early this morning and it was misting off and on and we never did see the sun till late afternoon and then only for a few minutes. It rained fairly stead from 11 - 4. I did get my weed-n-feed spread on my yard as I knew the rain was coming. I wanted to let it water the fertilizer in so I didn't have to use the sprinklers. One more thing I can cross off my list.
My friend, Ruthie & her DH came about 11 and we went to several thrift stores where I found a ceramic butterfly house and a shepherd's hook. Nice additions for the park gardens and spent under $10.

Yesterday the repairman from the furniture store came and put the levelers on the tables. They are perfect now. While he was here I mentioned the missing shoe on the front sofa leg. Well, he had one in the truck that was the exact same thing as the other three and he put it on for me without charge. Nice man. Now everything is perfect and I'm a real happy camper.

Still bone-chilling cold here so I'm staying in. Got to say, it's a pleasure now that I have my serene surroundings.

Gail

DG: I never heard of the zinc tablets, but the chicken soup did very well.

Penny: It's awful that mail is getting stolen. I guess Social Security came to the conclusion that it was safer for retirees to have direct deposit and that seems to work well. Like Pat, all off my income is direct deposit, as is my tax refund.

Pat: So sorry to hear that Bill fell and that he won't be able to help you in the future. Let's face it we do what we've got to do, and if it means asking for assistance so be it. My new friend has a set up whereby a friend calls her every morning just to make sure she's OK. It's a good idea and I'm thinking of doing that.

Sandy: Try to take things in stride. Difficulties keep coming up at you at every turn and it's got to be so hard. Sometimes even the slightest inconveniences seem unduly burdensome. I'm pulling for you.

Well, I called our local Post Office and we are now having to pick up our mail at the post office till the mail box is fixed. The HOA has 10 to 12 days to get it fixed. They are thinking about moving it down to the end of the cul-de-sac and away from the main entrance of our street. I think that is better as it is too easy right now for someone to watch people get their mail. So, with that said I am having to go get the mail at the Post Office every other day. It is just not close for me to go and get the mail everyday.

The truck is in the shop being fixed and it looks like that is going to take a while. As DH drove it down to be fix and there is something wrong when you turn. So, it sounds like it is going to take a while. But, at least we have a nice rental truck.

Hoping that this week goes well.

It is sad that some people have nothing better to do than steal from others but that is the society we live in. I try to have everything go in by direct deposit-means the crooks won't get any $$ from us! I know some people want that check in the hand but in this day and age it makes the most sense to just let it be deposited for you.
We are enjoying extremely nice weather-hit 82 yesterday and about 80 today but looking for it to cool down a bit after tomorrow but back into the mid 70's by the weekend. I spend my day working outside. I got the west side of our house all trimmed, pruned, weeded, etc. I had a huge pile for our maintenance men to pick up, filled 2 large trash bags and hauled off 3 buckets myself! I also trimmed the shrubs in front of the clubhouse so I am making small gains on all that needs to be done for spring. I will continue to work back and forth between our home and the park's gardens and hoping I can recruit some more help as there is lots of pruning that needs to be done.
DH fell today while trying to help me and has hurt his thumb and has scratches on his hand, arm, and leg. I can see now that he just is not going to be able to help me going forward. We did ask one of the maintenance men to trim our crepe myrtle for us-I can't reach high enough to get the top and DH just can't stand on a ladder or the golf cart so will pay him to do this after hours.
I had a long to-do list today and got most of it done. I will continue doing what I can each day and hopefully I will get things done before the really hot weather arrives.

St Louis, 35 miles from us, has had a lot of mail boxes broken into. A lot of refund checks have been taken. Things just seem to be going from one bad thing to another.

Finished & dropped off the little dresses going to Africa. We ended up with 100. Next shipment will go in Aug. By that time we shold have made more & some little boy shorts also. Sure am getting my stash of fabric used up1

The weather here in Madison has be bone-chilling and I'm fending off a cold right now. There's a pot of chicken soup on the stove. I went out yesterday and I couldn't warm up for hours after I came home. I had a Penney's rewards card for $20 that I wanted to use before tomorrow when it expires. I found 2 sofa pillows and was glad about that. I so rarely shop that I'm always floored by the price of things. These were $60 but on half price sale, so I only paid $10 and change after the coupon.

Need to go to the bank and the library and will go out briefly today. Then it's back to home sweet home.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

Lisa so glad kitty is better today!! Hope she continues to improve and rapidly! My puppy is enjoying the sleet in the yard and the cold weather. He goes out and runs around and comes in and is exhausted and naps and then wants out again! He has huge paws to wipe and isn't very fond of it but 4 huge paws track in mud .. it goes everywhere! Guess it's a good thing we missed the vet; Pooky is up and moving this morning. She made it to the litter box, crawled in and peed over the top onto the floor. Bless her heart; she'd rather explode than go on the floor but her aim isn't very good. Then she crawled under the buffet and hasn't come back out. I think she may have fallen and just needs some time to heal.

Sandy sorry you have yet another problem! Hope you can get your mail easily!

Lisa so sorry about your cat! Sorry you missed the Vet too. Hope kitty is ok this morning and the Vet knows a good and easy solution.

It is sleeting here and schools are closed for the day! My DS and Ddil didn't go into work as they have to drive on bridges and over passes and so my precious DGS will not be with me today. I think I will enjoy a day of sewing and get some other things done around here! ;-)

The week hasn't started out too good here. Was up at 1 am with my cat who suddenly can't get up. She can move everything, but can't stand. She was breathing very hard and was soaked from her chin down so I know that she had been stressed for awhile. I got her in a box and got her quieted down but couldn't sleep so I was up for a couple hours. Called the vet this morning and he said he could see her after church, 9:30 - 9:45. Got there at 9:50 and he had been there and gone; waited until 9:45, sorry I missed you. So now I'm stuck with a cat who can't move and won't drink anything, she's got to be thirsty by now, until tomorrow. She seems to settle for awhile and quiet down but then starts to try to move and cry again. She's always been pretty talkative, so it doesn't really bother me until she starts flopping around. I just feel so bad for her, my stomach is churning.

I didn't get any exercise done and ate way too much. Hope the rest of the week is better!

So, DH went out to get the mail today and found out from a neighbor that our mail boxes had been broken into late Friday night early Saturday. Ours happen to be one of the boxes. What started out as a good week has ended as a bad one. Luckily we had gotten our mail out on Friday but, one of our neighbors was excepting a check and he hadn't picked up his mail in a couple of days. So, we didn't get mail service on Saturday and I am not sure how this is going to work with our mail. I am going to call the Post office on Monday to find out or go in.

Hope everyone has a great week. This is a new week and it will be a better one for me. emoticon

Hello Friends,
It is cold and getting colder now. We are expecting ice pellets or snow before rush hour tomorrow. I am glad we are tucked in for a few days. We learned today that our closest lake is at 9 feet below normal instead of the 11 feet it had been. Good news but still not enough gain to get us through the long hot summer. We need all the moisture we have predicted this week! We will just snuggle in and be warm! ;-)
DD cut our daffodils and hyacinths and brought them inside since they would have frozen outside tonight. Woo Hoo!! They smell so wonderful and are so very pretty! Reminds me of Easter!! Must have lived somewhere in my life where hyacinths bloomed at Easter time. lol

Sandy hope things go well with fixing or replacing the truck. So thankful you have a rental so it isn't hindering the work.

Gail learn from the mistakes in eating. Learn what are trigger foods that make you want more of the wrong things. Even our mistakes can lead us to better eating and the desired weight loss. Don't beat yourself up over it, that just makes you feel more defeated! We can do this!

Lisa glad you have joined us! Hope you will jump into conversations and let us get to know you better!

Pat have heard fitbits are good but easily lost! Will have to check them out. Glad you get so many steps in each day. I don't have a clue how many I get. I do know I plan to exercise tomorrow each time I get cold. It warms me up and burns calories too! ;-)

Blessings to you all!

DG I wear a FitBit. I have had it over 2 years and put it on when I get up and take it off when I go to bed. It helps to make me aware when I am not moving enough. However, it doesn't seem to count when I am working in the gardens-I think I need to be swinging my arms more and that doesn't work when pruning and pulling weeds! I try to get at least 50,000 steps in each week and love it if I hit 70,000.
When I woke up about 7:30 it was already 52 out there so I decided I could walk before heading to church - didn't get a really long walk but got in 5K. I will go get the rest of my steps after the race is over. Hard to believe after the freezing temperatures of mid week we are in the 80's today!
I have been planning my to-do list for the coming week. Think it is going to keep me busy for more than a week!!
Sandy hope you can get your truck repaired but if not then hoping you can find a good replacement.
Gail I know what you mean about fighting with the food. I allowed myself to eat more carbs than I had been eating and now I seem to be craving things again so trying to get back on track-haven't gained but haven't lost anything at all in Feb. I go to see my dr. in Apr so would like to go in and show a decent loss of 20+ lbs since early in Dec.

Thank you everyone. It looks like things are on there way. we are hoping to hear something by Monday. Thing are starting to pick up for us. We are not even sure if they can fix it or not yet. It has been a great working truck for us so far. We had a nice rain storm come through yesterday. We are to get more rain later in the week and possibly snow in our Mountains, which we really need. The nights have been cool about 32 for the low and the afternoons are about in the high 50's.

Hope that everyone has had a nice weekend.

Pat the plants sound beautiful! We are supposed to get snow or ice pellets late tomorrow night through early Monday morning. DD and I have decided if it looks like it's really going to happen tomorrow afternoon, we will cut the hyacinths and daffodil blossoms and bring them inside where we can still enjoy them for a few days.
Glad you got so warm today and got so many steps in. Do you wear a pedometer? If so what kind do you use?

Off to do dishes for the last time today, I hope! ;-)

DG my geraniums are blooming beautifully as are the pansies and a couple weeks ago one of my crepe myrtles got mixed up and was blooming! Our area is not compatible for tulips, crocus or hyacinths. I do miss them. I received my new climbing roses that I ordered last fall but it has been too cold to plant them. I am hoping to get them planted this week. I guess I will get busy pruning and trimming also. Time to get things whipped into shape!!

We started out cool (45) this morning but got up to 70 this afternoon. I got in over 12K steps today. Felt good to be out there walking again.

Hope everyone is staying warm and safe.

Hello Friends! It began as a dreary day but the clouds have blown away and we have beautiful blue skies at the moment! Tomorrow we are supposed to get snow!! 90% chance!! Thanks to you all that "blew" so hard and pushed it our way!! ;-) I so enjoy watching it snow and it happens so rarely here, we make it a holiday. Besides no one knows how to drive in it or if they do the other nutty drivers take them out! So just better to stay home! ;-) Sometimes mail is not even delivered but the post office will tell you it will be! ;-)

Val have a great visit with your Mom! Hope you get much accomplished! ;-) Hope you get lots of good sleep too! Praying your Mom makes it safely!

Sandy so sorry about the truck! What a blessing your driver wasn't in it!! Glad the insurance is paying easily and providing a rental!! Hope you migraine is gone now!!

Pat do you have flowers blooming or did we discuss this already? I love have the hyacinths blooming at my front door! They smell so lovely when we go in and out!

Gail congrats on the water!! It is hard to do but so healthy! I still have to work on it especially when the weather is cold! Summer I can get 12 glasses a day easily! ;-)

Sandy: So sorry for the truck mishap but very glad that the insurance company isn't giving you a hassle. Take care and be well.

Pat: The cold here has been bitter. Your temps sound like spring.

Having a very hard time with food this winter and am very down about it. The only good news is that for the last week or so I've managed 8 glasses of water a day. I'm at the point where I can get them down before sundown.

Sandy so sorry about the truck but glad your driver wasn't injured. Hope you can get this all resolved quickly so you aren't down that truck for long.
Val I do hope the next 2 days fly by for you and that your mom has no problem getting to you. I know you will be busy with her there to help get you organized and hope you are able to get caught up on your rest.
We started out cold this am (37) but got up to 55 this afternoon so it was not too bad out with the sun shining and no stiff breeze. I gave Abbie her bath this afternoon and she enjoyed getting air dried out in the sunshine. I also went for my walk this afternoon and fixed dinner for our friends who got back home this afternoon after being gone for a week to take her dad back home to PA. They are certainly happy to be back down south!

Today I am relaxing as I am getting over a migraine. Yesterday was not a good day for us. One of our trucks got hit by a dump truck. The dump truck driver was looking at the trees ahead of him he said and not paying attention to what was in front of him. So, now we are down a truck. My guy called the police and got a report taken on it and the driver admitted to the officer that it was his fault. So, we are go there. The lucky part is my guy wasn't in the truck at the time it happen. It wiped out the whole driver side and cracked the front window. DH is working today as the other guy needed the day off. So, until we talk to the company that hit our truck and find out what is going to happen the guys are going out together in one truck.

Hope that everyone stays warm, be safe and have a nice day!

Well 2 more days of work and then I'm off for a week. emoticon My mom is driving here on Monday, though I've asked her to double check the weather reports before she leaves. It might snow on Sunday or Monday and I'd rather have her wait till Tuesday to come if she'd have to drive through storms.

I had a halfway decent day at work today. Worked in the department that sometimes makes me want to cry...and didn't want to cry at all. Hooray! Now I just have to make it through the next two days and then I'm home free. A whole week off. Maybe I'll even get enough sleep and feel rested for a few days. It could happen. emoticon

I hope that you've all been having a really great week. I'm really tired tonight so I can't think of what else I had intended to say when I started typing this. Everybody have a great weekend. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Was up and busy today-Thursday is the day I do the sheets so they are washed, dried and back on the bed. I have more, but just like this set so....wash them weekly and put them right back on! I took a few minutes to read the newspaper and then got busy doing my ironing. We were expecting friends to arrive before lunch - they wanted us to go eat with them - they arrived about 11:45 and we went to a fish place near us. I had grilled chicken but everyone else enjoyed the fish. I brought home 1 piece of chicken and half of my potato so now have leftovers from last night and today and we are to go to a surprise birthday dinner tonight so guess I won't cook tomorrow! Eating out so much really makes dieting difficult but so far I have kept off the 15 lbs I lost since Jan but really need to get another 15 off so if we ever warm up I want to get in more exercise!
Gail, our bed is quite high and I have been thinking if we replace it I will need to make sure we get something lower as it was difficult for Bill after he broke his hip. So many things one has to think of but if we want to "age in place" we need to make sure things are in order so that we can.
We are extremely cold today and have to get thru the rest of today and tomorrow before we will warm up. It is to be in the 30's all the way to Miami!

I got everything done that I needed to do yesterday. Today it is raining and I am relaxing and doing laundry. Both boys are working so I have the house to my self.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
