Well, I am running around right now finishing up on last minute things that i have to do before my SIL shows up. She is do to arrive about 1pm and I have been up since 7pm doing cleaning and getting her room ready. Plus doing laundry. Just popping to say HI.

Gail - we have the same toilets and I have the same problem. LOL! I feel like a little kid on it.

Have a fun weekend! emoticon

Sandy emoticon free haircut. Doesn't get any better than that and it will be a blast being a model. I bet you have a great time. I think the Halloween door décor sounds very cute.
Gail I know what you mean about being short. Glad it isn't too tall for you and hopefully comfortable. I had suggested getting the higher ones when ours fail but DH said no way! Ours aren't that old so guess we won't be changing anytime soon! Dr. Oz says one should put a little stool under the feet anyhow- emoticon
We had a great time today at the yard sales. The 1st one opened the doors at 8 am and we arrived about 20 min before and got in line! Our NY friends arrived yesterday and we helped her find things for their 5th wheel. It came without anything in it so we did a good job of furnishing her with lots of things to cook with it. Better to pay a fraction of the cost of new and get items that are nearly new. She got 2 pie tins still with the original paperwork on them for $1 each. We had the back of their car loaded and found a nice wrought iron table and chairs with a glass top and she got that for $30. It needs spruced up with a coat of pain but the chairs had new covers on the seats so think it was a steal!
V & I got a steel table for the park-our resin one blew in one of the storms and broke so we will paint this one and the 2 chairs we already have to match and voila-a new set! $8 is a lot better than spending a lot more for new!
Wish you were here Gail, I mainly shop for the park but did pick up a top and a pr of shorts for 25 cents each and got weights to use to exercise in the pool for 50 cents! Last of the big spenders. To us, it is the thrill of the hunt!!!!

Went out with my Aunt yesterday and did some Antiquing. We had a great time. It did rain most of the day yesterday. But, it didn't matter as we just had a lot of fun. My Aunt bought me a really cute door ornament for Halloween. It's a Broom stick& Witches hat with a sign across it that reads "Broom rides for 5 cents" . We just had to laugh. I have it hanging on the door. DH just got back from getting his hair cut and the gal that cuts his hair has asked me to be her model in an up coming hair cutting show on Nov. 10th. I called her and told her I would do it. I think it would be fun. It is a free hair cut. You can't bet Free.

Hope that everyone has a great weekend. emoticon

Good Morning:

Had a great night's sleep and it was terrific. Got to tell you all something that will make you laugh. When I went to pick out new toilets the decorator suggested I get the ones that are a bit higher. She told me they were more comfortable than the standard and are easier on the knees, a consideration as people get older. No big deal; there wasn't much of a price differential. Anyway, I sat on both in the showroom and the standard seemed very low to me, so I got the slightly taller ones. Well, I'm short, 5'1 1/2"-5'2". Yesterday I used the powder room toilet and noticed that though my toes and the ball of my foot hit the ground, my heals didn't. LOL It's fine, but it just struck me funny. I HATE being short. There is tons of storage in my home but so much of it is useless because it is too high, even with a step stool. UGH!

G

Pat: I wish I could go with you to those garage sales. I haven't been to one in years. Don't think I'd get anything, but it's fun to look.

Gail I think before long Vickie & I both are going to have to hand in our trowels. She continues to have back issues and is going for therapy 2x a week and each time her back is out so....her days of doing much are numbered. My PMR is up and down so not sure how much longer I can do this either. I have gotten $$ put in the budget for some help so hoping we can manage with that and some help from our maint. men.
Today after our walk we worked for about 2 1/2 hours to get the last of the shrubs planted that we bought yesterday. We had the assistance of one of the maint. men. He dug all the holes and did the really heavy work but it still wore us out.
Wish we were completely done but we aren't but we can slack off and rest up for a few days before doing more.
We went grocery shopping this afternoon and ran a few other errands before finally calling it a day at 3:30. Gotta get a little rest-tomorrow is fun stuff-a couple of really great community yard sales!!

Nan - It is always good to hear from you. The leave hear are turning and falling. The colors are so beautiful this time of year.

Gail - I do love to entertain. I think I got that from my Mom, my Aunt & Grandma. Three great ladies in my life. My Aunt is always showing me new recipes. My son did get the job with Total Wine and he may have a job with Guitar Center also. The job right now at Total wine is a seasonal job but, the one at Guitar Center is not. So, if he gets the job at Guitar Center he will take that too. I'm really happy for him.

It was a beautiful day yesterday. The sun was out after we had a little rain in the morning. I had a few things that I had to do. But, did enjoy the day. Today I just have a few more things to do and I am all ready for the first around of company.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. emoticon

It's just past 3:30 and I'm up because I'm stuffed up. With the workmen here there is a lot of dust and my allergy isn't taking too kindly to it.

Yesterday the plumber installed the tub in the main bath, and the toilet in the powder room. Now I don't have to run up and down the stairs every time i need to use the bathroom. Still no sinks until the carpenter gets the vanity tops in. Just have to wash in the kitchen until then. The carpenter tells me it will be into November before the cabinetry is done. Ah well, patience.

The drywaller came yesterday and said the job was very easy, much easier than he had envisioned. I hope that translates to lower costs. He's coming next week to make the 5 fixes.

Sending you all a hug,

Gail

Pat: I need some new shrubs. Would love to have you and Vicki come plant them for me. LOL

I emailed Val yesterday and she is having a hard time with her pinky...it hurts a lot. It's very tedious for her to type with one hand, so it may be a while until she can post again.

Sandy: You entertain so much it's got to be hard preparing, especially when you are running a business. Go easy on yourself. Did your son hear anything back from the job interviews?

Sheryl, DG and Nan, what are you up to this weekend?

A full day but a lot accomplished and I am loving our cooler weather-no a/c necessary. I walked at 7:15 and then after breakfast, I got my ironing caught up. and then it was off to the dentist for my cleaning. Vickie & I caught up with each other when I returned and we got the park's truck and off we went. We did stop to meet our DH's at Olive Garden for lunch-$5 for soup and salad thru Friday. Then off we went to get the shrubs. By the time we made it back here it was after 3 and we were both worn out! We dropped off the shrubs and tomorrow morning we will plant.

Gail - I am doing fine. I just really tired and trying to get ready for my SIL to arrive this weekend. Then I have friends that just told us that they are going to come up Dec. 5 - 8th. It is also getting close to the end of the month again. So, it is time to do the books. There is just not enough time in a day to get everything done that I need to do. HA! I think I am just running on fumes right now.

So, today my plans are to start the books, go to the store and pay the taxes on the business. I have already cleaned the glass front to the fire place, the glass top tables, done a load of wash, colored my hair, dusted, empty and refilled the dishwasher and cleaned the mirror in the Master bath room this morning. I have been up since about 7am. I went to bed last night at about 6:30 pm I was just so tired.

Sounds like everyone is busy. I did get a goodie from Val and I sent her a message back but, haven't heard back anything.

Just so that everyone knows the Halloween Challenge is for Autumn. I think next year I will just call it the Autumn Challenge so more people will join in and put a little twist to it.

I hope that everyone is having a good week. Sorry that I have not been so lively lately just have been so busy here at home. emoticon

Good Morning:

I had a WONDERFUL night's sleep. No cramps, no waking up in the middle of the night, no nightmares...nothing but a good sleep. I got to thinking last night and I'm wondering if the cramps were due to straining my muscles. Do you recall I mentioned how I had to run well over a mile at the Minneapolis airport to catch my connecting flight? Well, the next day when I went to the gym I rode the recumbent bike for 20 minutes at level 7. Since I hadn't exercised in a long while that was probably just too much. I recall that my muscles burned a bit during the exercise, but with some effort I was able to do it, barely breaking a sweat. In the past I've always done level 6...sometimes level 5...sometimes starting at 5 going to 6 and then doing a few minutes at 7, but never a full 20 minutes at 7. I guess I did more than I could deal with and paid the price. I've just a trace of soreness this morning; nothing hardly worth mentioning.

The bedrooms are all done and today my goal is to organize one of the closets. Doesn't sound like much, but it's a big deal because I cannot reach the top shelves without a step stool so I've got to go slowly. I may just empty out the upper shelf and store things in the basement. That's where I kept gift wrap, bows, gift boxes and bags, and sewing notions.

Sending you all a hug,

Gail

Sandy: How are you doing?

Val: I hope you're OK.

Gail-Bill is always low on potassium and has to take prescription strength potassium but I also get him to eat raisins, apricots and bananas. (He is about burnt out on the bananas as I was making him eat 1 a day!). Other good sources are salmon, kidney beans, and dark leafy greens. Of course there are more but those are some of the best.
Try putting a bar of soap at the foot of your bed under your bottom sheet. I hear that helps some people-not sure why but a couple of friends swear by it! Can't hurt and you can always use the soap.
Yes, I finished it but won't get the other 2 done so will have to check them out again.

Pat: So nice that someone bought your breakfast. What a treat. I haven't read Lisa Jackson but will look her up. Did you finish the book that was due today/

Sandy: I used a heating pad off and on today and that helped. Though I haven't had another cramp I'm still sore from the last spasm. I.ve been up since 1:45am because it felt like another was about to come on. I did manage a nap but don't think I'll be able to stay awake too much longer.

Val: What's happening? Are you OK?

All the toilet fixtures came this morning and the carpenter stopped by. Some of the plumbing should go in this week or next, and the carpenter says that all the cabinet doors, etc. should be ready and installed by the second week of November. If I'm lucky, everything will be done before Thanksgiving.

G.

Gail I have been reading books by Lisa Jackson. She writes murder mystery novels and has series so I am trying to read a series but have gotten them out of order due to availability at the local library. I am just thankful I can borrow them and not have to purchase them.

I had planned to walk this morning but when I woke a little after 6 the rain was pouring down so reset the alarm and didn't get up until 7:15. We go to breakfast at 8 on Wednesdays and today we had 14 and next week expect 2 more couples to be back. The snowbirds are returning! An even nicer surprise, our breakfast was free! I look after one couple's home while they are up north in the summer so they thanked us by paying for our breakfast. Nice surprise.
We had our 1st monthly board meeting this morning so spent the rest of the morning attending that. We are a resident owned community and operate like a small city. We have a board that is elected by the people to conduct the business of the community. A very good meeting today and a lot accomplished.
Vickie & I are working on getting the front of the manager's home redone. Old shrubs have been removed and the beds cleaned, new edging has been installed and now we are adding new soil and tomorrow plan to purchase the new shrubs and plant on Friday as it has cooled down some. We are looking forward to getting this project completed.

Gail - I Get that once in a while myself and I eat bananas. A warm bath helps some times. But other than that I can't think of anything else.

GOT - Welcome back to the Team. It is nice when you put up something that hasn't been up in a while but, looks new again.

Pat - Glad you able to get one of the books read. Hope you are able to get through at least one more before you have to turn the back in.

Today it is raining and very cold. DH is taking our son to look at 2 Colleges today when he gets home. It is a light day. I am doing the wash, dusting, books, clean the kitchen and bath room.

Hope everyone has a nice week.

Two nights ago I got a cramp in the inside of my thigh. I rarely get cramps but when I do they hurt like the dickens. I got up and walked around and it eased up, but it's been tender in that spot since. The cramps seem to come when I stretch. Anyway, here I am in the middle of the night, up and about because I feel a cramp coming on. I got bananas the other day and have had at least 1/2 banana ...a good source of potassium. Yesterday I had 1 1/2. Any remedies?

Well, I got good new yesterday. The plumber stopped by and told me the fixtures were in. They will be delivering them today. I think he'll get started this week or next. With the arrival of a new tub the drywall and tile can go in the bathroom. His first operation will be to install the toilet in the powder room so I don't have to run upstairs during the day. Actually, cleaning up after the carpeting was completed yesterday is quite a chore. I need to clean out and organize the bedroom closets and one chest. Two of the four bedrooms are done and there is only a closet in one room and a chest in another that need to be put in order. The downstairs is another matter. I need about 5 items to be put in the basement. These are cabinets and bookcases. (Yes, I still have bookcases.)

I went off track with my food yesterday and am not happy about that, but on the bright side, I did get in lots of fruits and veggies. I find it a big help to prepare things in advance first thing in the morning. Yesterday I prepared my fruit/milk shake, my salad, some fruit, and squash.

G.

Pat I know what it's like to rush to get borrowed books read before the deadline. I go into overdrive when that happens. What are you reading? I started Billy Straight by Jonathan Kellerman a few days ago, but haven't picked it up since.

GOT: Bet those curtains look great.

I got out for my walk this morning before the heat got too bad. We were expecting company so I got the kitchen mopped since I didn't get it done yesterday. Then since I knew my e-book was going to be due tomorrow, I spent the rest of the morning reading, reading, reading and still didn't get it done before company arrived. We spent the afternoon playing Hand & Foot and when everyone left about 5, I got right back to reading and now I am finished! What a relief. I didn't want the library to zap it away from me before I got it done. I have 2 more checked out and know I am not going to get them read before they come due. I will start one and hopefully be able to check it back out if no one has put a hold on it.
A busy week this week so hopefully I can get it all done.

I just put my curtains up from last year. I am trying very hard to keep the furnace from running. We are getting some warmer weather so this is a nice break.

I haven't been on here in awhile. I will try to make more of an effort to be more involved.

Good morning:

Just got back from PT. Didn't exercise because I wanted to get home before the carpet guys left. The carpeting looks lovely. Now the task of putting things back where they belong and moving stuff to the basement.

It's mild but rainy here today, but nothing will dampen my spirits...until the bills come rolling in. LOL

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Pat: I really need to discipline myself and do the PT exercises and cardio. Perhaps when everything is in order I'll get down to brass tacks.

Sandy: Your curtains sound beautiful. You see you have talent to decorate. I'm hopeless.

Gail - I posted once but, it looks like it got double posted. I have no idea how that happen. So, that is weird. Glad that your carpeting is in and it looks nice.

Bought New curtains for the front room since I hadn't put anything in that window yet. They are Aqua., Turq. and brown horizontal strip. The brown strip is thin ad the other 2 colors are larger. It matches the room really well. I had them up before the boys got home ad they really like it. I was hopping that DH did as he is not one who likes curtains. They are not really thick curtains. Will try to take a picture ad post it.

Hope everyone has a mice evening.

Another beautiful start to another warm day. Started out at 73 this morning and a high of 87. We have had a lot of wind today-looking for the cold front to arrive tomorrow morning and bring us some rain. Looks like after it passes we will cool down a bit and maybe get down into the 50's at night. That will make me happy as we will be able to open the windows and turn off the a/c.

I walked about 7:30 and did some weeding up front before coming home. It is never ending but hopefully things will slow down when the cooler weather arrives. The maint man has gotten he irrigation installed in the bed by the manager's house and now the edging blocks have to be installed and a load of good dirt put in there and then Vickie & I will be able to go purchase the plants and get that job finished. Looking forward to getting it done. Bill & Sonny walked about 8.

We did a load of laundry today, cleaned house, and I made potato salad, deviled eggs and baked beans. Bill ran the vacuum and started the laundry for me. I dusted and washed the windows in the family room. I pretty much got it all done except for mopping the kitchen. I will do that tomorrow. I even baked a Dutch apple cake. I had some apples I wanted to use up. We invited Vickie & Sonny to come for supper and we grilled a couple of skewers of shrimp for the three of them (I don't eat shrimp) and made onion burgers. Turned out really good. It was the 1st time Bill used his grill that we got about 18 mo ago!! Vickie & Sonny have one like it so she showed him how it works. It heats with infrared and cooked it all really fast. Think now maybe he will use it more. The only thing left was some potato salad and cake.

I have been trying to get my book read this afternoon. I just have one more day to go and have 13 more chapters so need to get back to reading!!! I will see how much I can read tonight and have to read tomorrow morning as Don & Lin are to come in the afternoon to play cards.

Gail it sounds like things are moving right along on your home. It will be awesome once it is done. A whole new home without moving!

Sandy I hope you got everything done before the rain hit.

Nan sounds like you had a nice time with family.

Have an awesome week everyone.

Good Evening:

Did any of you have problems posting today? I wrote a long posting and it would not take. I finally shut down my computer and restarted it. By then I had lost the posting.

Well, surprise, surprise, surprise. Early this morning the doorbell rang and it was the guys who install the carpet. I thought this would be held up because the drywaller isn't coming for another couple of weeks. Long story short, they carpeted the steps, the upstairs hall and two bedrooms. Tomorrow they return to do the other two bedrooms. It looks really nice, and if I knew how to post pictures I'd show you. Maybe someone will show me. After tomorrow there will just be the bathrooms, the lighting, and the cupboard and vanity doors. My house looks so big...unreal!

My food has been good again today but I haven't exercised and I'm too tired to do it now. Tomorrow I have PT so I'll be at the gym and hope to get on the bike.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Boys are out playing Golf before the storm hits. We are excepting the storms to hit around 3 or 4 today and they are suppose to be heavy. I have some cleaning to do and some running around to do too.

Hope that everyone has a great week.

Sandy sounds like a fun time to go antiquing with your aunt. I used to have a lot of antiques in our home back in STL. They have mostly been handed down to our kids and I don't plan to add more here-we are the only antiques now!!!!
Gail so happy you made it home safely but what a trip. Flying used to be fun but they have taken the fun out of it for me. I am glad we don't have to do much anymore. Shame but I would rather drive than fly anymore and many years ago I loved it so much I worked for Delta!!!!
Sheryl hope you had a relaxing Sunday.
We slept in and then went to breakfast before church and this afternoon we played cards with Vickie & Sonny. By the time we came home the day was gone. Watching the Cards game now. Hopefully they can do better tonight than yesterday.

Sheryl - You are so right about the heirloom. Glad that you have the seeds. I will be looking for the plants come next year to plant.

Gail - So, glad that you made it home safe. Your home sounds really nice and cozy. Sorry to hear about your furnace. Hopefully it is a simple fix. As afar as your foyer I think once you get picture up and other things it will brighten up the area and make it feel a lot nicer. I just added a couple of pillows of a different color to the living room and in the den. In the Living room I added a aurq. blue color to the brown ones I had. It now makes the room pop. In the den I added a rust color to the tan. I learn if you just take 3 colors from a favorite painting, blanket or item in the room and use it in the room as an accent it will make a difference. So, if your walls and furniture are neutral you use the 3 accent colors to brig in color. I hope that makes sense.

Just relaxing today and do a few little things around the house. We are suppose to get rain all week. My SIL come in next Sunday and I hoping that we have some nice weather while she is here. But, it is not looking like it. Planning to go out with my Aunt this week to do some Antiquing.

Hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Your home makeover sounds beautiful, Gail as does your trip. Too bad about the furnace, but I truly believe they are not supposed to last anymore. My mother had a refrigerator she bought when I was 3. It was handed down to me when I married and we used it for about 3 years. They are now said to last 10 years. Since we know better why are we accepting this shoddy work?

Good Morning:

Well, my daughter picked me up from the airport last night after another full and harried day of travel. We were late leaving San Francisco because the air was cleared of all flights with the president's arrival in San Francisco. This meant that I had to run through the Minneapolis airport a long distance to get to my connecting gate....#$#%$^$. This has happened every time coming and going in 3 of the 4 trips I've had this year! Good thing I'm able to run at long distances but this is getting old and it's very stressful. Aside from the flights, the trip was very good. Unfortunately, the food was exceptional... just about the very best I've ever had on a cruise. All the passengers seemed to be waddling by the end of the trip. The people at my dinner table were great. We were a match made in heaven and ranged from late 50s to early 90s. Besides me we had one retired teacher, one paralegal, on retired microbiologist and two electrical engineers. One of the three women was a sweet Russian lady, a retired engineer, who spoke little English. But we all worked hard to keep her in the loop and were very patient. Somehow, I remembered enough Russian to communicate with her...hey, it's been over 50 years since I studied Russian...and she was delighted. Since Vic died I usually go away to veg, and I did a fair bit of that on this trip. But I did go to 3 comedy shows on board and I laughed a lot. Nothing like laughter to cure you of whatever ails you, right? Comic relief was great. I also read a couple of books and enjoyed being outside in the fresh sea air. The weather was perfect throughout the trip. I've one more trip planned for December, Cancun, and then my traveling will dwindle to one or two trips a year. With my house fixed up I'll want to remain here and also, my budget will demand a bit of belt-tightening.

Well, I was very surprised when I got home. The floors were installed throughout the entire downstairs. The laminate looks and feels beautiful, just like wood. They also installed the tiling in the foyer, powder room and utility room. Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it but I'm not crazy about the foyer. The walls and floors are light and it looks strange. My daughter says I need some color in there, maybe an area rug. The foyer is huge...14x15! I had a bit of a scare last night when I discovered my internet and phone were not working. Then I thought that the workmen forgot to plug in the phone and internet connection. When I got up this morning I found that to be the case. Whew! My house is a mess and I'll start putting things in order today, but until the job is done there will be chaos here.

My furnace didn't turn on when the workmen were laying the floor and luckily, I left my daughter's number in case a decision was needed in my absence. She called the outfit that installed it and now it's fixed. I need to find out what the problem was. That's a 2 year old furnace and that shouldn't have happened. Ah, if it's not one thing it's another. Interesting though, I'm cool and not upset at all. Guess in my old age I'm putting things into perspective and not sweating the smaller stuff. The important thing is it's fixed and it should be under warranty. My daughter thinks they may have disconnected something this spring when they installed the new air conditioning. We'll see.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Sheryl sounds like things are improving for you. Glad you are doing well on your challenge. Those heirloom tomatoes sound wonderful.

Sandy hope that you have a great weekend.

Gail so happy to hear your cruise was good and I know you are looking forward to getting back to see those new floors. I bet they are beautiful.

I walked early this morning before the heat and then Vickie, Sonny, Bill & I headed out for some yard sales (our typical Saturday). Pickings weren't great today but got a wreath for spring and a ceramic birdhouse for the park. Also got a nice pair of shorts for Bill.

Now it is time to get off here and read more on my e-book as it will be due soon and I am only half done reading it.

Dim at the San francisco airport and will begin the first leg of the trip home in a few minutes. It was a good trip, made so much the better by the lovely people who were at my table for dinner each night. It will be god to get home to buckle down with my eating and exercise. Wishing you all a happy weekend.

Sheryl - I just love heirloom tomatoes. I didn't grow them this year but did last year and just loved them.

Pat - Glad to hear that Bill is doing better and has lost. I hope that his Crohn's gets under control soon. You take care and take it easy.

Gail - I so glad that the cruise has gone well for you and you have gotten plenty of rest. Good to hear that the flooring is in. I am sure it looks beautiful.

DG - How are you doing? It is getting close to due date.

Val - How is your arm doing since the case came off?

It is raining here today but, it is still beautiful with the rain drops on the spider the webs looking like little pearls. And the air is so clear afterwards. DH is out playing golf. I am finishing the laundry and doing a few things around the house.

Hope that everyone is having a nice weekend.

Gail it is good Bill lost weight-just not how he is doing it-the Crohn's is robbing him of a lot of his nutrients as food goes right thru when he is able to eat. I bought him size 32 shorts yesterday and they fit fine. I am hoping we can just get him stabilized. I should be so lucky to lose weight without trying, just don't want what he has!
I have taken it easy again today. I had Bill help do some pruning here at home as my butterfly bush was going thru the fence and hanging over our neighbor's yard so he got it trimmed so it is only on our side of the fence. I did manage to bathe Abbie. I am so thankful she is easy to bather.
I have been doing some ironing today-iron for 20-30 min and then read a couple chapters in my book. I have gotten about 3/4 of it done so should be able to finish it easily tomorrow. Bill did 2 loads of laundry for me so tonight it is a clean dog and a clean bed!!
We had fog this morning. It was 69 when I walked but this afternoon we topped out at 90 so it certainly has been hot out there!!
Hope all of you have something awesome planned for your weekend.

Hi Everyone:

I just got an email from the flooring store. The laminate is down and according to the decorator it looks great. So glad. It will be easy to care for.

This cruise has been relaxing and I'm rested. Boy, did I need that. Now I'm looking forward to coming home.

Sending you all hugs...

Pat: Hope you are feeling better and stay well. Glad to hear that Bill lost weight. That has to help him a lot.

Sheryl: Thanks for the clue-in on that website. I avoid processed foods like the plague. I don't usually do canned goods either any more. For years I've been using my own garden tomatoes for chili and pasta sauce.

Well, yesterday the boys helped me out by vacuuming the floors and then mopping the hardwoods for me. That helped me a lot as that is one less thing that I had to do. Today I have to go the store. I have already cleaned the kitchen and den area. Just have to dust and do a few things in the garage and I think I am ready for my SIL.

Hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Gail, I too am impressed with the Almond Milk. It is great for everything.

No cooking course, there is a challenge that happens every year in October, called October Unprocessed. If you google that you will see the rules and there are recipes. Basically it is to only eat what you can cook, no processed foods allowed. I have taken the challenge for several years now. It is not so hard for me as I do like to cook and prefer fresh to frozen, I never use anything canned.
I made an apple and pork stew last night, with pork, apple, carrots, leeks, barley. It was so good. I have enough left for another meal and froze a third. I used 3 country ribs we cut out of a loin ourselves for the pork, no fat, plus we would have normally eaten the 3 ribs each, so way down on the meat.

Gail-that stands for polymyalgia rheumatic. PMR is an inflammatory disorder that causes muscle pain and stiffness. The pain and stiffness often occur in your shoulders. Yep, that is where it gets me the worst, but If it gets really bad, I am stiff all over. Several years ago it was so bad I could barely dress myself. My medicine has kicked in and it is better today-still can't lift arm comfortably more than chest high but better than not being able to lift a glass of water!

Walked this morning and then handled some issues with the park's gardens, the president of the association and one of the maint. men. Got that resolved and then had to get ready to go to Young at Heart, a program for seniors at our church. Had a nice couple of hours there.

Our friends we went to Michigan to visit this summer arrived not long after I got back home from Bealls. Vickie & I went to their sale after the meeting. Bill needed new pants-he has lost so much weight his fall down!! I got him 2 new pair of shorts and 2 tank tops.

Hope all are having a good day.

Got a lot done yesterday. Had to meet a client at the warehouse yesterday to give them one of their signs to be installed in an area the we don't service. We are really busy today which is good. Have a lot to do to get ready for my SIL to come into town. She will be here a week from this Sunday. Today is cleaning day since I wasn't able to do it yesterday as I was busy running around doing other thing and I was so tired that I went to bed at 6:30pm. I go up at 7:30am this morning. So, I guess I needed the sleep.

Hope that everyone has a wonderful day.

As I said, this is going to be a busy week and now my PMR has reared it's ugly head again. I noticed my right arm was feeling sore yesterday evening and today I am having trouble lifting it above my waist. Not making doing things easy!! Even putting up Abbie's hair is a challenge. We went to breakfast with our group this morning but only 6 of us showed up. I drove and that was a challenge. I did walk but my arm hung like a limp rag. Vickie and I managed to get the stones I bought yesterday onto the rose bed-two of us with issues, her back has been bothering her and now my arm but WE DID IT! After that, I gave into the pain and took it easy and fell asleep watching the noon news! I slept for 2 hours. I decided I needed to give my arm a rest so didn't try to do anything else this afternoon. I have taken my prescription anti-inflammatory and hopefully by taking it for a week or two things will get better again.

Hello Friends. I have the grocery shopping done for the week and lunch is about ready so have some time to sit and hope to catch up with you all.

Gail hope your cruise continues to be relaxing. Although an ill passenger doesn't make it fun at least for his family.
Glad you have the spa pass! Sounds like it is wonderful for you!! I can imagine how you could blow the food/calorie budget on a cruise.
So glad things are getting done at your house!! By Thanksgiving it should all be done right? So that is about the time my Grandbaby is due!! We can count down together!! ;-)

Nan I too enjoy someone else's cruise!!! If I get to go to the beach I want to be on the beach not on a ship. ;-)

Frosty how did the yard sales go? Sounds like the first was a success!

Dear Friends:

Well, it's another lovely, sunny day. Now that we are headed back I'm kind of glad this will soon come to an end. I've been eating my way into oblivion. The food on this trip is exceptional and I've gone overboard.

I learned today that they are busy, busy putting the flooring down on my first floor. Can't wait to seed it. There's a lot more to be done but I just must be patient and wait for the drywaller and the bathroom fixtures.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Thank you everyone for the Birthday wishes. I had a wonderful day. We got good news on our sons ankle. The doctor said that the ankle is good that he needs more stretching exercises to break down the build up from not using it. So, that is good news.

I am off to do a few things and then I have some cleaning to do here at home.

Hope that everyone is having a great week. emoticon
