Happy Halloween Everyone

Had a great day-walked early, got 2 loads of laundry done, Abbie got a bath, friends arrived by 10 and we spent till 4 this afternoon running to thrift stores looking for items for their house. Had lunch at Sweet Tomato. Yard sales on tap for tomorrow morning. Gotta get out my yard clothes-51 early in the am and 71 for our high.

Happy Halloween Everyone! Hope that everyone has a great day. It is raining here and it's going to be 53 today. The low tonight is 40.

Our son is enrolled in school and starts in January. He is working at Total Wines right now but, that ends as of January. But, he got a call from Guitar Center and that would be not be a seasonally. So, if he gets that job then he will give a 2 weeks notices to Total Wines. The only reason is is that Guitar Center has benefits and they will work around his school schedule.

Hope that everyone is having a wonderful day and a great weekend!

Happy Friday!! So glad we will have friends to scrapbook with tonight and tomorrow. So looking forward to some girl time with friends I haven't seen in awhile! ;-) Last night I got the Grandbaby's quilt done! Now to get it washed and ready to *deliver*. Lol Due date is 2 weeks away! ;-)

Pat and Sheryl that is pretty cold for you isn't it? But guess if the orange crop is damaged by frost it does happen. It is cooler here and a good time to have soup!! We had dinner with a friend last night and she fixed taco soup. It was good even though a bit spicy with a halepenjo pepper in it. ;-)

Pat sorry DH had a rough night hope last night was better.

Nan LOL

Hope Everyone has a great weekend!

Love this weather and as a native Floridian I also love that we only have it a few days and it's gone. I am cold when it gets under 60. 55 tonight and in the high 40's tomorrow!
Happy Halloween, a good night for Trick or Treat!

Sandy so happy that DS is now starting his new job. Is he still going to go back to school too? Hard to believe tomorrow is Halloween.

DH had a rough night, hence I did also so a bit tired today. I did walk and then we went to the Thursday market at the fairgrounds and picked up some fresh veggies. The tomatoes were very good so hopefully everything is. I got cabbage to make vegetable soup for the weekend since we are supposed to get down into the upper 40's!

Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween

Morning Everyone!
Beautiful day here. Was 53 when I got up this morning! High supposed to be in the 70s today! Sure am loving it!! Now to get rid of the mosquitos! ;-)

Pat, thanks! Sorting pics was done years ago. Now to get them into albums. I have been quilting and crocheting instead! So glad I am able to have friends over this weekend to scrapbook! ;-) We used to do it once a month on a Saturday and every quarter we'd make a weekend of it. DD and I were both consultants for Creative Memories but the company struggled through 2 bankruptcies and have sold to someone else trying to make a go of it. It was sad as the company had been around for 20 yrs and made really good albums and supplies. (Sorry if I told you more than you wanted to know.) ;-)

Gail - Pat sure does find good poems doesn't she? So special to find them on my Spark Page.
Thanks Pat!

Sheryl glad to hear DH is doing so well!!

Nan have your leaves reached their peak of color yet? Ours are just beginning to change. They are usually best at Thanksgiving.

Hugs to all! Hope you have a great day!

DH is feeling much better today, swelling is going down.
Had to leave him alone for a while last night as I had signed up to lead a Ghost Tour for Main Street. It was great and a new area for me. Added value 22 minutes walking. Will post a blog with pics later this week

Sheryl glad to hear that DH came thru surgery well and now praying he has a speedy recovery. Anytime one is cut on it is sore for a bit. Hopefully every day will be a little better for him.
Sandy sorry about the migraine and praying it will get better soon. DH used to suffer from them but thankfully now one of his BP meds does double duty and keeps them at bay. Let them withhold it (as they occasionally have) when he is in the hospital he will start to get one immediately!
DG sounds like you are busy also but making progress on things you are wanting to get done. It is always a good feeling when one gets things taken care of. It sounds like a daunting task to me to get all those pics organized but it appears you enjoy it.
We had 18 out for breakfast today-our numbers seem to be growing every week. That is good but one can only visit with those close to you unless you get up and go around the table (Bill is our social butterfly so he does a lot of that!).
When we got home, we did a quick run thru the house, I dusted things and Bill ran the vacuum. I keep things picked up but with having the windows open, we do get a lot more dust!
After that, I got to work in the Florida room and have gotten all the windows in there washed on the inside. I was shocked at how black the paper towels were. I expected that on the outside but not inside! I guess more dust in there than I thought. I think next I will work on washing down the walls-they are all the same material as our vinyl siding-that is how they finished it off in there. Hence, I just wash it down and call it good! I hope my steam mop goes on sale soon as I do not want to get down on hands and knees to do the tile floor!!!
Vickie, Sonny, Don & Lin all came about 11:30 and we played Hand & Foot until after 3. The gals won 2 of the 3 games we played.
Have fit in a bit of gardening too-our maint. man removed some older plants for us and now we have more planting to do. It never ends but soon we will have the area down by our clubhouse finished.
Bill got an appointment with another gastroenterologist but it isn't until Nov. 20. Now we have to get his records from the one whose staff won't ever call us back! Guess that will be our task later this week or early next week. It is not going to give me much time to make a decision on picking his Part D plan but hopefully we can make it work.
Pat

Hello Friends,
LOL I had to go searching for you all again! Haven't gotten notices of your posts. Glad I thought about it today and didn't let it slide like I did last time. DD and I are making progress on some projects today. Grocery shopping, laundry, and dishes are done too!

Sandy sorry you had a migraine yesterday. Hope you feel better today! Glad to see you posted today and you rested so much yesterday!

Gail thank you! I hope I get a lot more done and those albums survive! If I don't get all the pics in albums I will at least have the pics in chronological order and the kids can journal their memories! ;-) I probably have 25 shoe boxes of pics from the year DH and i married until we got a digital camera. I keep trying to do the back log but it isn't easy with keeping up with everything else life throws at me. ;-) I have made over 30 albums in the 17 yrs I have been scrapbooking. I don't dare figure out how long I must live to get them all into albums! However many of those albums were for family too. So glad I made albums for my parents before the Lord called them home! They helped me get so much family history down. Some I didn't even know. Mom had pics of her Grandparents that had all died before she was born so I was glad to get information I didn't know.

Nan how fun to get together with friends! Have I shared here that both of my DDil's were my daughters best friends before her brothers got interested in them? We tease the boys that they need to the favor. :-) Not that DD wants 2 husbands either!! lol

Pat will go check out your blogs. Love to make gardens and to see them but sure don't like to keep them up! My first Ddil made a couple ponds with flowers around before she and DS married. One had a park bench by it and a trellis over the bench. It made a lovely place for romantic chats while they were courting.

Sheryl glad DH is progressing. So great to have each other to depend on.

Must run! Hugs to all!!

Sheryl - Glad to hear that DH is doing better.

Pat - You are as busy as ever.

Gail - Thank you. I did take it easy all day. I just slept most of the day. I did fix the boys something to eat. Then wet to lay down for a while.

Nan - it is always good to hear from you. Sounds like you had fun with the girls. Good to hear that DH is doing good.

DG - You are really busy these days. But, glad to here you are having fun too.

Well, today I am still taking it easy but, doing thing around the house. It is overcast today and we get a break in the rain for today but, it will be back tonight. Not much going on here.

Hope everyone has a great day!

My usual crazy busy day here but more getting done! Walked early, dog sat little Abby while her parents moved his Dad from a nursing home into a memory unit at another place that specializes in Alzheimer's patients. She is only about 7 lbs and a bit skittish but is getting better being with Abbie. They are hoping she will get more outgoing by staying with us. They didn't get her till about 6 this evening-we had left our house unlocked so they found us down at bonfire by the lake to let us know they had gotten her.
After my walk and breakfast, I got our car vacuumed out and washed. I had not gotten it done after our trip to Siesta Key so it really needed the sand removed. Vickie and I went to Lowes and Home Depot after that and we got the rock to fix the area where the electric lines were buried as the dirt was all over the bed and it really needed spruced back up. We also got a pot of pansies to drop in the urn by the office as the flowers were gone that was in it. We picked up 2 Shasta daisies and they are now planted in front of the pool area and lastly we wanted to get red fountain grass but could not find any except for tiny plants settled for another variety with long green leaves and white stripes. If it doesn't work out, we will plant it somewhere else later on and put in the grass we wanted!! Now we have to get a load of rock and finish up two more areas and the maintenance men will do that work for us!
We were pretty well worn out by the time we got done so went to our favorite Chinese restaurant - I brought half of my dinner home so won't have to cook tomorrow either. For less than $5 a meal we get 2 meals!
I also made banana muffins this morning as I had a banana going mushy and have been giving them out to friends and when we got back, I made a carrot cake to take to the bonfire and will be doling that out tomorrow. I like to bake, just don't need it here!!! emoticon
We had a nice turnout for the bonfire this evening-about 35-40. They always have hot dogs, someone brings baked beans and people bring whatever else they want to share. Someone brought a macaroni salad, another a tossed salad, there was a gluten free chocolate cake, my carrot cake and pumpkin bars. I wasn't very hungry so didn't eat much.
DG I have several blogs on my page with pics of different projects and I hope to get more posted of our Halloween décor. I recently put in pics of the work we did in front of the clubhouse.
Bill didn't call the dr today-we have asked folks who have gone to other gastro docs and this is one several really like. The one our dr recommended besides the one we have been seeing is not one that a couple folks have a warm fuzzy about so .....think we will at least go see what this one thinks. We had to go to 2 more urologist before Bill found one he liked. He actually liked the 2nd one but he did not do surgery so no sense in having one to check you and another to do surgery so we went with one who did it all!!!

Sheryl: I had no idea that your husband went in for hernia repair. So glad it went well and he's on the mend.

Sandy: Just rest today and do whatever you must to get rid of the migraine. I hope it passes quickly.

DG: What a wonderful legacy you are leaving for your family. I have vivid memories of my childhood and youth, but it's different when it's on paper or in an album, especially if you can share it with children and grandchildren.

Sheryl - So glad that everything went well in DH hernia repair.

Gail - How are you doing?

Pat - You sound busy as always. How are you and DH doing?

DG - You are keeping so busy before the baby.

I am not doing really anything today as I have one of my migraines and it is raining pretty good today. Our son goes to orientation for his job today at 6pm. He is so happy about that. He will be starting school in January.

Hope everyone's week is going well.

Happy Tuesday Everyone!! ;-) DD and I have a little guy with us today. He is 4 and we are keeping him as a friends regular baby sitter is out of town. He is sweet and loves our puppy! He wears him out and they both take good naps! ;-)
DD is baking pumpkin pie from scratch ... oh, they smell so good! ;-)

Sandy hope you didn't get too much rain. We are praying for rain today. It sure looks possible and it is predicted!

Pat you amaze me how much work you do in gardens. Have any pics to share? I like some gardening but not all the time. I am sure your place and the development are beautiful under your care. Humm.... rose bushes are still for sale in our area. Hope you find some!
I hope you find a good Dr soon too and one that doesn't have a terribly long waiting list!

Gail I have scrapbooked for 17 yrs and have loved photo albums since I was a young girl. I can sit for hours looking at pictures of my own or someone else's. ;-) I prefer to know the stories about the activities in the photos and who the people are. I do but memorabilia in the albums if I "traditionally" scrapbook. (Printed photos and empty albums I fill.) However I have learned to take photos of the memorabilia if I am making a digital scrapbook (digital pics put on "pages" on a computer screen and the book then printed and made into hard copy - sort of like a library book.) Sometimes I do my albums chronologically as the events in the pics happened or sometimes I do special event albums like my children's high school graduations or weddings. I am sure I will make an album just of the baby from birth as being the first there will be lots of pics of him/her. ;-) Which means each child after this one will have his/her own album (s) too. So I will put in pics and journal which will tell about the photos and relationship of the people in them.
My Mom loved to tell stories on herself and her family. After her home going I had an empty notebook and collected the stories from all the family that they remembered her telling. Then I wrote out the story as I remembered it or the other person if I didn't remember it. I collected old photos to go with the event or the time period and put them into chronological order. As they were old photos I scanned them into the computer and put them with the "right" story. Then will have the whole thing printed and copies made for as much of the family as wants to pay for a copy. I am hoping the young generation that may or may not remember Mom will get a glimpse into her life and love for her family and will know her that way. ;-) When my DH was sick I quit working on this project but hope to pic it up again before too long.
Sorry if I gave you way more answer than you wanted! ;-)
I will paint with at least my DD but if DS#1 and Ddil#1 want to come too I will not refuse! I hope it is done before the baby and Thanksgiving come.

Sheryl sorry your DH had to have surgery but glad it is done and went well. Hope he has a good and quick recovery!

Hope Everyone has a great day!

DG: I've heard of people doing scrapbooking. Do you put all sorts of momentos in the book and label them? Do you include photos? Will you be painting yourself or will your children be helping you?

Pat: One way to get a good doc is to ask one that you like and trust to recommend one he would go to if he had the problem. Hope you get things sorted out sooner rather than later.

Today was spent working on projects at home! I need to get my "stuff" caught up so I can concentrate of the fall/winter planting in the park. After my walk, I worked on my back garden-cleaned leaves out of the bed, pruned the roses, pulled weeds, etc. I hauled off 6 buckets full so it was quite a lot! While I was doing this, Bill worked some more in our Fl. room we use for storage/work area. He finally agreed to take the screen door to the dump so that is out of there. Before too long it is going to look nice in there (I just have to get the bowling ball project done and that will clean out one corner!). This afternoon I got my ironing done and did some research on climbing roses. We took out the 2 we had on the arbor in the circle in front of the clubhouse and now I need 2 new ones. Imagine my surprise when I found I can't get any till spring! This is prime planting season but none that I have found down here or online! We had a couple of friends drop in at different times so that took care of the rest of my day. I was late getting dinner started-we had cauliflower, sweet potato and a small slice of ham we split. I am not a big fan so I just eat a couple bites.
Gail, I gave them today to see if they called back-nothing so tomorrow will see if we can make arrangements with seeing another dr. Vickie & Sonny like their gastro doc so thinking we will see if he can get in to see him (only problem is he does not come to the hospital here in town-he goes to the one where we used to take Abbie when she was a therapy dog which is about 10 mi east of us). Only become a problem if Bill has to be hospitalized for something. He could not take care of a GI bleed like happened in May. Several folks we have talked to are not fond of their doc so wanting to find one who is liked-usually have a better relationship. I will keep you posted.
Pat

Hello Everyone!!
Doesn't look too busy of a week at this point! Weather is beautiful and tomorrow we have 40% of rain!! Hoping and praying! ;-)

Pat we know are so honored and are so thankful. DD and Aunt Izzy (her Spark username) were good friends before she and DS married. I am glad it hasn't harmed the friendship. DD says it is a way to keep a friend forever, when she becomes a SIL. ;-) Both her DBros married her friends! We tease the boys and say they need to return the favor! ;-)
You got a lot painted Friday! I still need to get more of the house painted. Will have to get to that!
If I plan on it maybe we will get more of that rain we need! ;-)
Agree it is so nice when the A/C doesn't need to come on!!

Sheryl you are right about kids not being taught to think of others and to be loving and kind as they would want to be treated. So very sad!

Sandy hope you got lots of cleaning and laundry done. Aunt Izzy doesn't enjoy doing laundry but I love it. She is letting me wash the baby's things the first time! I love the smell and folding all those little things. Then I will pack them in a suitcase to travel to their apartment. Such fun days!

Gail DD and I just hung out and had a lazy day on Saturday. I did some laundry and watched My Fair Lady and worked on the baby quilt! ;-) Hope you feel happier today!!

Hope Everyone has a wonderful week. This weekend DD and I are having a scrapbooking gathering at our house. Just friends getting together to work on their projects and have some girl time. ;-)

Hugs and Blessings to Everyone!

Sheryl: Now that the weekend is behind you please tell us how everything went.

Pat: Did you find a new doctor for Bill? Any chance the pharmaceutical company will give you his meds free or at a reduced copay?

Sandy: Hope you took the opportunity to rest a bit this weekend.

DG: What are you up to this week?

Val: Still thinking of you and hoping your pinky is improving.

Nan: Any plans with the girls this week for lunch? Do you all have a standing date for lunch every week or once a month?

Totally awesome weather down south-started out at 58 and a high of 81 but never needed the a/c which is great for the wallet. Went to breakfast and then to church. Played cards this afternoon with Vickie & Sonny. Rather a laid back but very enjoyable day.

School shootings are always devastating, parents are usually not doing their job to instill kindness. Bullying is rampart.

Gail, sorry you are arguing with you SIL, sometimes it is just too much time together.

DG what an honor to be there during the birth. We were with my son at the birth of his oldest daughter, my younger son at the birth of his only daughter, and DH's younger daughter when she had her twins. It is amazing to be there to see the precious baby moments after they arrive.
Sandy so sorry SIL is one of those folks who never listen and always know what is best for everyone else. Happy you can just let it pass right on by. No sense in losing sleep over folks like that.
Gail so sorry you and your sister are at odds at the moment. I pray that things will soon be set to right for you. I always say if it isn't life or death then it isn't important and I am sure you know that feeling. Sending you lots of emoticon
We took today as a "lazy day" and slept till 8:30. Felt good to get a little extra shuteye. I did my walk and after breakfast I painted a table and two chairs and a pedestal stand for a gazing ball. (I will use it for my bowling ball yard art).
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Please say prayers for the young people that were shot here in Washington. We 3 in serious condition with gunshot wounds to their heads. When will this stop.

Gail - I am sorry that you had a fight with your sister.

My SIL has left and now I am relaxing. I did get a lecture before she left in how to cook, clean and feed the household. Which made me and the boys laugh as all I did was cook and clean the whole time she was here. She also told me that our son need to get a job and stop being lazy. It is hard to explain to this women when she really doesn't listen. So, I just let it go in one ear and out the other.

Today I am planning not to do anything at all except relax and watch a little TV.

I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Saturday Everyone!! Hard to believe we are in the last week of October already!! This tie next week we will be in Nov!!

Gail I know what you mean about the state of our country. It is so sad. Wish folks could see and understand since praying and reading the Bible was taken out of public schools it hasn't benefited our country but look at the decline!! There is no standard of right and wrong anymore.
Sorry you had words with your Sister. No one can hurt me as much or as quickly as my Sister and she doesn't seem to understand that. Hugs to you!!

Sandy sorry your visit didn't go well with your SIL. It is so hard when you try so much and it doesn't make the visitor happy. You are right, you have a clean house now and some quiet days so hope they are enjoyable with your DH.

Pat, So true ... this baby is going to be the delight of my life. ;-) DD and I have been invited to the birthing center to wait in the family room during the birth. I have some activities packed and ready to go so I have something to do while I wait! I should take some letters to write too. ;-) I imagine I will take my computer ... that keeps me busy for along while! ;-)
Missing your flu shot might be a blessing in disguise. Did you see John Hopkins report that the flu shot is likely to cause Alzheimers? It just came out recently.
Sorry you are still waiting for the alternative medication for Bill. Smart move to get his records and find a new Dr. Praying the new Dr will have wisdom or puts effort into making sure the insurance will cover the necessary medication.

Off to do laundry and dishes and get the day rolling on a positive note! ;-)

Hugs and blessings to all!

It is scary-do not challenge anyone these days-you may end up shot. We just had a shooting on I-95-a road rage incident and the highway is shut down at the moment. You are right-it is like we are going to he!! in a handbasket. Of course, the news does not report the good things either.
Sandy so sorry things didn't go so well with SIL this time. Glad to hear you are in good shape and ahead of the game for month end.
Gail I just know you will be happy to have your washer and dryer back in service. Sounds like every day more is being accomplished. Do you expect it to be done by Thanksgiving?
DG sounds like things are moving along on your front. Not long till baby will be here. I know that will send you over the moon.
I had another full day but quite a bit accomplished-got in my walk, deadheaded the rest of the roses up front, gave Abbie a bath, Bill & I got the shrubs on the west side of our house trimmed and he used the chainsaw to cut off one of the shrubs that didn't look good and the area looks much better now.
We ran some errands this afternoon with Vickie & Sonny and had a late lunch at Sweet Tomato. We did a W-Mart stop and I managed to get behind a lady who just could not make up her mind-yes she wanted an item, no take it off, add this, take that off, no put it back on and she must have only had 6-8 items! If I had not put all my items on the counter I would have changed lanes! Vickie was in the express so got thru in a heartbeat and watched all this unfold. If I hadn't been in a hurry it would have been comical. Our hubbies were out sitting in the car and it gets a tad warm yet in the afternoon!
We tried to get our flu shots at CVS after that BUT they said we would have to wait 30-45 min so opted to not do that. Guess we will try again next week.
I did not get a call from the gastro docs office as promised so thinking next week we may just go get his records and start over with another doc. I need answers so I can make a decision on his Part D. This has been 7 weeks of waiting so think they should have figured out something by now. We need a Plan B since we can't afford the medicine doc wanted to put him on.
Bill is doing fairly good at the moment-still has issues but nothing like it was back in the summer. The steroids have gotten the flare in remission I am assuming or at least tamed things down.
Hope all of you have a great weekend.

When will all this evil stop? I just heard there was a shooting at a high school in Washington state. Every day it's something else: beheadings one day, riots another day, bombings, war-ravaged lands, chemical warfare, horrific diseases....and so it goes.

In the past there were bad times and good times. We had reprieves. Now there is only bad news, and the news seems to get worse with each passing day. God help us.

Gail

Hello Ladies,
It is a pretty day here. Love the blue skies and cooler temps.

Pat hope your toes do well and what a good excuse to get new shoes! ;-)

Gail I understand the no painting then. So sorry! DH and I used to refinish furniture but I don't have the energy for that anymore. I might start with something new but not to strip and get down to bare wood and start over or no reupholstering chairs or sofas!!
So sorry about DD's dog. Is this the one you were caring for while DD was away?

Sandy sorry it is getting cold in your area. I only like the cold if it is snowing and we can all stay home and make it into a holiday!

Sheryl glad you are feeling great!!

Well, it has been interesting to say the less to have my SIL here. We really didn't do anything as she wanted to go shopping at the Mall. We finally took her to the Seattle underground tour. That didn't go well at all. She is leaving at 10 am to go home. I feel really sorry for her as she is a very unhappy person.

But, on a good note the house is really clean and the Refig is full. I am ahead of the game with the books this months. And I am in good spirit even though I have had not much sleep as both DH and SIL both snore. HA! emoticon

Gail - I am so glad that the house is coming together and will be done soon. I am sure you are happy about that. Sorry to to hear about your daughter dog. I know that must of been very hard.

Sheryl - How are you doing?

Pat - I am sure glad that everything went well with the podiatrist. How is DH?

DG - Glad you were able to get away for a while as it looks like you have been really busy.

Our weather has changed to wet and cold. We are do for another big storm this weekend. Hope everyone has a very wonderful weekend.

Pat: Glad the visit with the podiatrist went without pain. I have a bunion on my left foot and would like to have it taken care of one of these days. It's not too bad, but it's hard to get shoes that fit, since one foot is normal and the other needs more room to be comfortable.

DG: No, dear, I don't paint. For one thing I'm short (5' 1 1/2"); for another, I have limited range of motion of my left arm because I have bone on bone arthritis in my left shoulder. This complete indoor house painting was the first in 37 years. The walls were clean and unmarred, but I was tired of the color. It was a neutral cream color throughout. I still have neutral walls or soft pastels, except for the kitchen which has a lighter tan color with no tinge of yellow.

Sheryl: Tomorrow's the last day of you project. How are things going? Has it been a great success?

Sandy: Hope you enjoyed your sil's visit. What have you been doing the past couple of days?

Nan & Vali: We miss you.

If you read my blog yesterday you know it was a difficult day. My daughter's dog had to be put down...old age caught up with him. Abner was over 16 years old. My food was TERRIBLE. Later in the evening I went upstairs and checked my email. My credit card account had been used fraudulently. I am getting a new card tomorrow. What a hassle!

The plumber is coming today to reinstall the washer and dryer. emoticon
Besides that I'll settle down with a new book, James Lee Burke's LIGHT OF THE WORLD.

Enjoy the day,

G.

I don't think any of us like using the Laundromat! I had to do it when we traveled and did a couple loads this summer on our trip but would not want to have to do it for all my washing!

Today was my visit with the podiatrist and now that is behind me. The laser didn't hurt but you felt heat. I had 3 treatments today and will go again in 6 months and then after 12 months, I will go once a month for the next year. Have to pitch all my old shoes and use a special spray on ones I keep.

I gave Abbie a trim this afternoon and DH also got one. He worked on cleaning the seats on the golf cart and I finished up my ironing and made some phone calls. The dr's office is dragging their feet on figuring out a medicine for him (that we can afford!) so I called again and we will see if anyone calls me back tomorrow. I am tired of waiting-it has been over 6 weeks since we were in to see the dr and he is to go off the steroid he is on on Mon so need to have something figured out! I also need to make a decision on his Part D insurance and the medicine he is put on could make a big difference.

Hope all of you have had a great day.

Pat

Morning Friends!! Hurray I got notice of a team post today!!
Looks like rain here! Praying we get lots! Don't even mind getting wet on our luncheon date with friends!! ;-) Our area lakes (drinking water source) are so dry you can walk from one side to the other and not have muddy feet. They look like pasture land not lake bottoms!! Scary!! This is the 7th yr of drought.

Sandy hope DS's appointment goes well. Hope you have had a good visit with DSil. Time passes too quickly when having a good time!

Gail having access to the utility even if the washer is running is a great blessing!! No more waiting for something to finish before you can do something else that is needed to be done! Did I mention having to have the hot water heater replaced at my house? The guest bathroom sink faucet wouldn't work afterwards. DS figured out yesterday to check the aerator. It was clogged with debris and sure enough it works now!! So nice for guests to be able to wash their hands in the same bathroom. !!!
Glad you were able to rake leaves! Do you do any of the painting? I like it a little bit but not whole rooms. ;-) DD and Ddil love to paint and that sure is a blessing to me!

Sheryl glad I am not the only one that does like to use a laundromat! Glad you have new machines in your home again.

Have a great day Everyone!!

Good Morning:

My plumber is a genius. He put another water source in my utility room. That means the water going out of the washing machine will have its own way into the sewer; it won't have to empty into the sink. I will be able to use the sink independently. Why is that such a big deal? Well, I'm having a cabinet installed around the new utility sink. That won't be in for a few weeks. The way it's set up now, I will be able to do laundry again some time next week. As soon as the drywaller is done and the area behind the washer is painted, the plumber will be able to put the washer and dryer back in place. WOO HOO!.

I raked a little yesterday. It was so beautiful and it was good to be in the outdoors and get a bit of exercise. Hope today is another beautiful autumn day.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Hello All!!! I am glad to be back. Not sure what is happening to my notices when there is a post here? Will have to see what I can do about it. ;-) Another busy day here and lots accomplished too. After the hot water heater was replaced the guest bathroom faucet wouldn't work. Someone suggested to DS to take the cap off the end of the spigot and to see if it was clogged. Sure enough it was and after cleaning it we have a working faucet again!! Woo Hoo! The simple things huh!! ;-) Also got some errands taken care off that were causing some stress!! Once home I even got 2 bags sorted through in DH's office!! That is a big deal!!

Pat thanks for the welcome back!! Sounds like your arm is doing much better if you can use some weights in the pool! I did water aerobics for a few years when my children were younger. I was surprised how many inches I lost. The resistance from the water really helped. Wish I had access to a pool now.

Gail there are so many details aren't there? So far it sounds like so much has fallen into place so well. I pray it continues that way for you!! Yes, I am saving a bundle with the help of my children and their Dad would be so proud of them. That is exactly what he taught them to do.

Sandy how sweet of you to cater to your SIL's wishes but to take her to family owned businesses and not national chain stores she can find anywhere. If you have too much rain you could sure blow some westward to me!! ;-)

emoticon Sheryl

Pat you have had quite a busy day. Sorry you and Bill had a sleepless night last night. Hope it is better tonight. Sounds like a great shopping trip.

Well it is about bedtime so will say good night to all!! Hope to see you again tomorrow, which is shaping up into another busy day. DD and I are having lunch with another mother/daughter team. Tomorrow evening is our tatting class which is just friends and we use a DVD for instruction. We enjoy learning and working together. I go but am working on the quilt for my Grandbaby. That has to have priority now. Baby is due in 3 weeks. ;-)

We supposedly got down to 59 last night and a high of 81 today so thinking we may be able to turn the a/c off tonight and try it without it again. It did feel cooler outside this morning than inside but guess it wasn't going to run when it was cooler out there!! I got up and did some of my ironing before we went to breakfast. I started while Bill got his shower and since we were up early and I didn't walk, I was able to get it about 1/2 done.

I had good intentions to finish up when we got home but didn't get a good night's sleep so it didn't happen. Bill had a bout of acid reflux about 12:30 and that woke me up. Then his bi-pap machine was making a loud noise which didn't make it easy to go back to sleep and he wanted to point towards my back and it blew cold air on me and he didn't get the mask seated correctly and that let it make noise so I guess I pi$$ed him off when I asked him to adjust it so he slept in the family room most of the night!! I did get about 3 hours of good sleep before he made a bathroom run and was a bit noisy (think he was still ticked off and wanted to wake me up)! He did come back to bed but then at 6 the alarm went off so.....not a good night for either one of us. Bet we sleep well tonight.

We had 15 come to breakfast this morning. We have told people not to arrive before 8 but some left the park by 7:30! They just have to wait on us because I am tired of them going earlier and earlier! They did that before. We started it at 8 and by the time the end of the year arrived, we were back to almost 7 am! Nope, refuse to do it this winter. I get up early all summer to walk so not going to give in this time.

After breakfast we ran by church over in Tavares to drop off our peanut butter. They were having a drive for the food pantry and we forgot to take it on Sunday and today was the last day to donate. I also wanted to look up the location of the podiatrist I am going to tomorrow. It is right next door to the church!! Easy for me to find. I am finally going to get the pinpointe laser on my nails. I have 2 that grow so thick and rough that they catch on my socks so going to hopefully get that solved. It may take up to a year and several treatments but I would like to be able to polish my nails again!!

We stopped at the mall on the way home as I had coupons for a free trial size bottle of lotion or body wash and I like them for travel and Free is Free! Regular price is $5 so it saves me buying them and I usually get 2 coupons a month. I share and give Vickie one since she isn't getting them. I got Bill some new cologne and because I got it, I got another item up to $14 free so got my big bottle of cologne I like and then if I bought a big bottle of body wash, I got the matching lotion free so felt like I got a deal. Vickie bought 2 candles and got her cologne free. She said she will use them for gifts at Christmas.

The guys had a couple of those mailers from the car dealers so we stopped at Toyota and they got their 5 golden dollar coins and then we went to W-Mart where a Lakeland dealer was holding a tent sale and picked up a $5 W-Mart card. I wonder when these dealers are going to wise up-seniors have time and we will go take their $$$$! I guess it is worth their while or they wouldn't do it. I think we are up to $25 in the last 3 weeks. Going to keep track and see how much money we can rack up!!

I read the newspaper and some of my magazines this afternoon as I was just too tired to do much. Bill went to the clubhouse to see who the ambulance came in for this morning. Once of our friends it seems and he was having issues with his heart so...will check on how he is doing tomorrow. Of course, Bill slept most of the afternoon and he wonders why I am grumpy when I don't get my sleep at night-I rarely take a nap because I don't sleep well at night if I do.

Later this afternoon Vickie and I went to the pool. Working with those weights should help my bat wings to tighten up over time (at least I am hoping it helps!). Gail in the winter sometimes one of the ladies leads a class but we don't have anything official. I just remember the routines I did when I did go to classes. Went for several years.

Pat

Well, they got i about 5 holes of golf when it started to rain and they had to stop playing. SIL was frozen. She is not use to our weather. To use it is not that cold. But, she is use to Calif. and being in the 90's all the time. It is suppose to really come down today. We are going to try to go out and do something. My SIL just want to shop and not really site see. HA! So, I am trying to take her to local family owe business.

Sorry this is so short but, have to get ready. Hope everyone's week is going good. emoticon

Good Morning:

The drywaller came yesterday and we visited a bit while he worked. Such a nice young man.
From what the drywaller said, I expected the carpenter to stop by yesterday to put in the backing for the grab bars for the shower/tub. Got to try to reach him today. I don't think he'll be out here for another week or two. All the tradesmen out here are backed up a couple of weeks.
The tiler can't do anything till the grab bar backings are installed and won't be coming until next week or the week after. After the tiler, the carpenter will install the vanity and then the plumber will install the stool and sink. When that's all done they'll start work on the master bath.

My food has been awful, just awful. Yesterday I read a book by Carolyn Hart, DEAD MAN'S ISLAND. It was very good; well written and fast pacing. Any of you hear of her?

Will try to get to the gym today and need to run a few errands.

Take care everyone,

Gail

DG: Sounds like you've been busy but very happy the past few weeks. How fortunate you are to have your family help you paint and take care of home repairs. Vic used to do everything, but now I'm left to my own devices. Let me tell you, you are saving a bundle.

Pat: It sounds like you do water aerobics. Does your community have classes?

Sandy: So glad your SIL is with you. Sounds like you'll get to do some fun things while she is visiting.

Val: Thinking of you and hoping you are on the mend.

Nan: Do you get Trick or Treat kiddies in your area? There are few little ones where I live.

emoticon Daddy's Girl - you have been missed. I am glad it was because you were having great adventures with family and friends. Sounds like a wonderful time and even better you got a lot of "chores" done at your house. How sweet of all your kids to come and pitch in.

Sandy it sounds like the visit is going well with S-I-L. Hope they had good weather to go play golf. Did your son land the new job?

Val I hope the pinky is getting better and soon you will be back with us.

Gail it sounds like things are coming together and soon you will be able to get the house all put back together. I know it seems like it has been going on forever but this has been a major renovation so I think it has fallen into place rather well.

I did my usual walk and after a bite of breakfast, I decided to get busy in the gardens. I had 2 new plants I wanted to get planted and it was overcast so a nice morning to get my hands dirty! I worked in the park gardens for a couple of hours and then home and did a bit here. I didn't near get done but at least made some progress. I really need to get my place whipped into shape so I can work more in the park.
After a short break for lunch, Vickie and I hit the pool for a couple of hours. Heaven! We used our new pool weights and if I continue to use them regularly I will develop some arm muscles for sure. Quite a difference than the smaller ones I have been using. Hope my arms aren't sore tomorrow!!

Hello Dear Friends! I got busy and then trying to catch up with SP and I somehow lost notice of this team and would think about it and then when email box was empty I would go off to other things and not remember to look for this team again. Today I remembered!! I have missed you!! I do wonder about my brain!! lol I have seriously been told in grief counseling that losing memory is part of grief and I am glad I know that. I told my DC I thought I was getting Alzhemiers!! We are all more at ease about it now!!

Well, DD and I went out of town 3 week ends ago already. That was when I first was missing from the team. We had a good time we had. We have known those friends for 21 yrs and they are the family of my first Ddil. It was fun being together again too. It has been a long time. The next weekend we were painting the outside of my house. All my kids came!! Even DS in training and 5 hrs away! What a joy to see him!! Then it looked rainy so we went to plan B list of things to do. I didn't want to waste all that help!! ;-) After lunch it looked nice so we did paint the outside too, most of it anyway! Then Sunday evening DD and noticed the carpet was wet Upon further investigation we found the hot water heater was leaking! Thankfully it didn't gush! DS#1 and Ddil came and shut it off and emptied it and came back the next day to replace it and she and DD painted a bit more. Wed they had to come back and replace a joint that was leaking and DD and Ddil finished painting the garage door and front door. They look wonderful! Like old carriage house doors in a deep dark wood tone, but it is paint so it will last better!!
This last weekend an even longer time friend came for visit for 4 days. She and I met when our girls were just a yr old in our church nursery together. Our DHs were friends and we had our next babies near the same time. We would swap baby sitting. It so good to catch up with her. She retired from teaching at the end of May. She is enjoying traveling some on her own and some with DH on business trips as he hasn't retired yet! What fun it was to spend that time together just us 3 girls. Wish her oldest DD could have come too but she couldn't get time off.
So that is my life for the last 3 weeks!
Now we are down to 3 weeks and 2 days until Ddil #2 due date!! Have to finish up that baby quilt!! It isn't far from done!

Pat sorry about your arm! Hope it is feeling better now!! I will read on and see what I learn. ;-)
Glad you found some pants and tank tops for DH at the sale. When I lost my weight I my lost slip! Right down around my ankles!! I was so embarrassed but so glad I was home in my own bedroom! I had no notice it just dropped!! LOL
Love yard sales too. I don't go often but have found some great things for baby when a neighbor had one.
No I wouldn't want to lose weight through illness either but it would be nice to be able to lose it when I try! Ddil#1 has tried a eating plan called Trim Healthy Mama. It is going well for her. She told me to look it up on the internet but I haven't done it yet. ;-)

Sheryl glad you are enjoying your challenge. Ddil#1 told me she just learned to make almond milk and using what was strained off to make almond flour! Will have to try that too!! The apple pork stew sounds wonderful. DD is making homemade chicken noodle soup tonight but guess that wouldn't work for the challenge as she uses store bought noodles even though everything else is fresh. ;-)
So wish we could have a good garden here. It is so much work, our soil is so bad. A dark clay and the drought has made it very hard too.DH added so much to it over the years but it doesn't last long and we are back to the hard clay again. Great you can save seeds to grow your own from here on out.
Agree about the planned obsolesce of appliances!! Why do we accept it? No wonder we can never get a handle on our budgets!! Something always needs to be replaced!!
Food Day sounds like a good idea!!

Gail glad to see you are back home safely!!! Sounds like a wonderful trip! I agree laughter helps so much! I think that is why I am so refreshed after my girl friend's visit! We laughed so much this past weekend!! Hope you can get your house in order quickly! That will give you more peace!! Glad you figured out the internet issue!! I am not sure I would have thought of it!! So glad your DD called about the furnace issue!! Good for you for not to stress over it!! You go Girl!! ;-)
So glad things are going so well with your home remodel. It does take time and is going so much faster since you are hiring it done. DH and our 3 sons added 550 sq ft to the back of our home in 2006. It took a year but it is well worth it!! I know you will find smiles everywhere you look when it is all done.

Sandy guess your SIL is here now. Hope you have a great visit!! Yes it is just 3 weeks and 2 days to the due date! Ddil sees the midwife every week now. Seems time is going quickly even for her. ;-) She is still working full time. She and DS work at the same place so if she goes in to labor he can just get her in the car and off they will go. ;-)
Great idea on the way to find colors that go together!! Love that as I am always struggling to figure it out!!
Oooooohhhh!! Antiquing!! Hope you found some great stuff!! DH would do that with me our last 4 yrs and I heard stories about his childhood I had never heard before!! Love going still!!!
Glad your curtains are up and DH likes them!!

Hi Nana!! Our leaves aren't turning yet. Usually about Thanksgiving it is best!! How were yours?

Grammieoftwo I am a newbie to the team. I am expecting my first grand baby this side of Heaven in Nov. Hope you do post often again so we can get to know one another. This is a fun team!

Van hope you return soon and all is well!! You are missed!! Hugs!!

I think I am caught up again!! Sure hope I can stay caught up now!! Sorry I have been gone so long!! ;-)
Hugs and blessings to you all!!!

Good Morning:

The drywaller is here making repairs and tells me he will be finished by Thursday or Friday. The tiler will come on Friday to tile the main bathroom. Things are moving along.

Sandy and Pat, I never heard of the card games you play. Here in Wisconsin a lot of people play sheepshead, but I never learned it. Rummy, pinocle, canasta, poker, hearts, spades, casino...those are games I'm familiar with.

Hope you all have a happy day,

Gail

Gail we mostly play Hand & Foot. Occasionally some Pegs & Jokers.

Sandy glad your SIL made it in ok and sounds like some fun times. Enjoy.

We went to the flea market with Roger & Ruthie this morning. I only got fruit and veggies. Tomatoes, radishes, sweet potatoes and a watermelon. I am hoping the melon is as good as the sample one.
I spent part of the afternoon trying to call drs and didn't have much luck. No answer at one so left a message and no call back yet! The other I got put on hold and after 30 min I gave up! Spent several hours checking out Part D plans but can do nothing until I know what meds DH is going on. (That was one of the calls!) At least I have some ideas now of costs, etc. Not looking pretty!!
I went and voted today so have that taken care of. Also got my ability to download e-books taken care of. while I was at the library voting.
Got quite warm this afternoon and Abbie was miserable so a/c is back on.

Ah Gail, I have days like that, only I read. Not a big tv fan.

I have been busy getting prepared for Food Day which is October 25th each year! In our tri-county area we have a weeks worth of events which started Saturday with a Future Chefs cook off, yesterday we had a memory meal at a farm, it is a variation of a pot luck with each dish holding a memory for the person preparing it. Some wonderful stories were shared. We have events through next Sunday, so I will be erratic with posting, Thank you Gail for seeking me out!

Good Morning and Happy Monday:

I did manage to clear out part of a shelf in one of the bedroom closets, but other than that I did nothing yesterday besides making a pot of chili. All day I watched mysteries that I had recorded (Diagnosis Murder and Mc Bride). I never even got dressed. Did you ever have a day like that? I just wanted a real break from packing, moving, coordinating, calling tradesmen, unpacking, etc.

The weather here has been beautiful and the leaves are turning color. Too bad our fall is so short lived. It seems we have winter most of the year and only a few months of summer. Spring and fall last for a few weeks. If there is anything I miss about NY it's the seasons. Spring, summer and fall lasted longer than here.

Gail

Pat: What card games do you play?

Sandy: So glad your sil made in in safely. Enjoy your time with her. How long will she be staying?

Val: Thinking of you and hoping that pinky is on the mend.

Nan: What are your plans this week? Are you going to lunch with your friends?

Sheryl: We haven't heard much from you. Is everything all right?

Dusty: We haven't heard from you either. What's happening?

SIL made in. We are planning on doing some shopping and site seeing today. Then coming home and cooking dinner. We are going to have Salmon with a nice salad.

It is a little over case today. Excepting rain tonight.

Have a great week everyone!

I am loving this weather-we suffer thru the summer heat to get to this time of the year down here-we are in the mid 60's at night and low 80's by day. Hoping this will last thru mid Dec. We need something to compensate for over 100 days over 90 every year!!!
I walked about 7:30 and still needed a denim shirt over my tank top. However, I shed it before I made it home. We were off to church by 10. Had a bit of excitement as a gentleman had a major health issue and EMS had to be called so services were delayed until he was cared for and transported to the hospital. Not sure what happened to him but he has been ill and was in a wheelchair.
We had lunch with Vickie, Sonny and their daughter and her family at Outback and came back here to play cards. Guys won the 1st game, ladies the 2nd so decided on a rubber game and after only 2 hands, they conceded to us!!!!
Hope all of you have had a super Sunday.
Pat
