Hope everyone is enjoying a great weekend. I have gotten accomplished what I set out to do so I am a happy camper.
Walked early and by 8 Vicky & I was working in the park gardens and got 2 of them cleaned up and we were done by 10. It was predicted we would hit 93 this afternoon but feel like 107! Wanted to be inside before that happened!
When I got home DH & I got busy and got the house cleaned up as we expect company tomorrow afternoon and I did the ironing that I had from the last load of laundry so all is done and put away again.
I cut up a watermelon for our snacking later on and will make a BLT salad for supper in a bit.
Now to shower and relax for awhile.

Senior moment-was sure DH's dr appt. was today at 10:30. DUH, got there and it was yesterday emoticon It is now rescheduled for 9/11!
We walked early and I did 3 loads of laundry and got the ironing caught up-but added more this afternoon so....it is a never ending chore.
We had a bit of rain this afternoon but the bigger showers went to the west and south of us.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Heat is still around and just keeping me from wanting to do a lot outside-If I can't do it early, I don't work out there. Today it was walk before daylight and then off to breakfast - had 3 couples today. We are trying to find a restaurant for our winter group-hard to find a place that can handle 20-24 and keep us all together.
Vicky & I did a tour of the park and made a list of all the things we need to do and things for maintenance to do to get things back into shape for fall. Even riding around in the golf cart was hot and I can home all sticky & sweaty.

Good Afternoon:

Was up most of the night and I'll probably crash late this afternoon. I had a lot of pain in my left shoulder and arm, and even 3 ibuprofen didn't entirely do the trick. I'm just fine now and will be headed to the gym for heat therapy soon. I couldn't sleep in this morning because the carpenter came 8:30am to take measurements for all the cupboard and vanity doors.

Sandy: Thanks for getting that recipe chat going. I'm very surprised because many recipes use prepared foods: canned foods, cool whip, sugar free items, etc., and several recipes are desserts. The only prepared foods that I commonly use are canned tomatoes, mustard, catchup, and mayonnaise or salad dressing. I occasionally use canned fruit that only has its own juices, but that's about it. As for desserts, I eat a lot of fresh fruit. I can go through a cantaloup in 3 days and a seedless watermelon in about 5-6 days. I also try to get in berries, pineapple, and other fruits in season. Sugar from fruit has as many calories as refined sugar in desserts, but it metabolizes differently and the fruit is very good for you.

Wishing you all a great Thursday,

Gail

Finished the booked , so far, still have to add the rest of the month and then send them out. Next month starts the New prices. We raised our prices up to meet our competitors as we were lower than all of then. Now we are the same as all of them across the board especial our biggest competitor. And he is not doing to well right now.

My son finished cleaning all the flyer boxes yesterday and put them away in the garage. Now they are ready to be reused again. And he sweep up the front yard for me too.

So, don't hate me but, I have finished my Christmas shopping.

Pat - The Post for the recipes can be as many as you want. Gail suggest it and I thought it would be fun to have a Team post of just Recipes since we are from all over the place to see what each of us cook. so, you can put as many recipes as you would like on there.

Gail - emoticon to you for the suggest.

Dusty - How are you doing?

Val - Glad that you are liking your job.

I hope that everyone has had a good week.

Good Evening:

As you may know I get my hair done at J C Penny's every month. I just found out a few months ago that if you spend a certain amount of money they give you a $10 gift toward the purchase of any retail items. Well, I had one I had to use by Aug. 31 and another by Sept. 30. So...Monday, when I got my hair done I shopped around. Got a pair of beautiful dressy black slacks on sale and also picked up some backs for stud earrings. My total expenditure for these items was $1.04. Not too shabby.

Today I selected the paint for the rest of the house and all the window treatments. Also decided to have my island painted the same color as the cupboards, and will put the same light tile for the powder room and utility room in my very large foyer. (14x15). When the guys came to measure yesterday they said that they could lay the laminate and tiles right over the existing flooring on the first floor. The real bear is the main bath on the second floor. Since some of the tiles cracked they must remove all, and since they were set in cement, it's going to cost a lot. I'm hoping that what I'm saving by not having to pull up the flooring on the first floor will cover the additional charges for the demolition on the second floor.

The thing that's left is choosing the light fixtures and hardware. I guess we'll do that next week. The painter will start on Sept. 3rd so will be great.

Wishing you all sweet dreams,

Gail

Val, I do pretty much all of my "gardening" for food in pots. We have big pots for our tomatoes, pineapples, even have a cantaloupe growing in one at the moment. I think you would enjoy have some "fresh" food that you grew yourself. Nothing like a home grown tomato.
Sandy happy you are getting caught up on everything. Will have to think about the recipes to put on the new site. Are you wanting our go-to things we make over and over again?
It was a busy morning-up early and got in my walk and a few weeds screamed at me so I just had to oblige them and now they are no longer around to yell at me! emoticon When I got home I gave Abbie a bath and then folded the laundry Bill did yesterday while he sat out with her so she could dry. I also worked on my ironing some more and hopefully will finish it up tomorrow. I even did the pills for the coming week and by 10 am we were on our way to Clermont with V&S. The convection/toaster oven I bought at BJ's a couple weeks ago was not even large enough for a 12 in pizza (it said it was!) so took it back as that is worthless to me. We stopped at a couple of thrift stores and only found one cute birdhouse for the park.
We ate lunch at a restaurant called Cheesers. It is a locally owned business and we try to support them whenever we can. Enjoyed a nice 1/2 turkey sandwich and tomato Florentine soup. Nice meal at a reasonable price.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Wednesday.
Pat

Val - My garden isn't a very large one. Most of my garden now is in pots as at this house there is a lot of cement. What area I do have for planting I use for veggies. I love having that even if it they are in pots. It is therapy for me and relaxing. And the afterwards you get to enjoy what you have planted and for some reason everything taste better when you grow it. But, mostly just to see what you did every day out your window no matter how small your garden is well worth it because You did it.

Gail - I took your suggest about recipes and made a New post and sent out and e-mail to everyone.

Today I am finishing up on the books and wash today. Then my son and I have the flyer boxes to finish up. We are suppose to get rain this weekend so want to finish up and get the inside before the rain. Finally we have come to an end to the warm weather here after today. Looking forward to cooler weather from here on out.

Hope that everyone's week is going great.

I'm going to move next summer and I was thinking that I need to find an apartment without a yard so that I don't have to worry about taking care of it. But now I'm thinking that a place with a yard could be a good thing. I'd love to be able to grow tomatoes and lettuce and maybe even strawberries...

There was much rejoicing!

Come on down Val-I do need lessons. I just don't relax well emoticon However, it was a nice day so no complaints. Glad you are still enjoying relearning what you already know! I sure agree that home grown tomatoes are the best. In about 3 weeks I will be planting our fall ones. The ones I put out in the spring finally bit the dust but we do enjoy them so I will do a couple more for the fall/winter months.

Doggone it Pat, it's starting to look like I'm going to have to go to Florida so that I can teach you how to relax for a day. Seems like you might need lessons...oh, and also...I've never been to Florida... emoticon

Gail, I wish someone would go on vacation and ask m e to pick their tomatoes. The ones in most groceries are pretty worthless when you've eaten vine ripened a few times. I hope that you really enjoy them.

Sandy, it sounds like things are really going well for you right now. I'm glad that you're enjoying the way your yard looks. Having a place you enjoy coming home to is so important.

Today was the start of the second of my three weeks training in the blood bank. I'm really enjoying it, though today I was tired and felt yucky so I didn't feel like I did as well as I did last week. Hopefully I'll get a full night of sleep and feel better tomorrow. It's actually been kind of fun even though it can be frustrating at times. But blood bank is blood bank is blood bank. I'm not really learning anything totally new, I'm just learning how we do it at this hospital and getting back into it again.

I hope that everyone has a happy hump day. emoticon

Thanks everyone. Day is going good-didn't do nothing as I had planned. DH woke me early as it is coffee and donut day and he doesn't like to miss that so I went ahead and walked as it was beautiful out-76 and lower humidity. About 9:30 Vicky & I did our weekly shopping at W-Mart and Aldi. The ad for Publix expires on Wed so to get the BOGO items I had to do it today or tomorrow and tomorrow is busy soooo we went today. That took till almost noon.
This afternoon I did relax for an hour or so but then decided Abbie needed a haircut-the groomer didn't take enough off last time so I got the clippers out and went over her body and now it looks much better. We will have a talk about this when she goes next time and if she can't get it right, then guess I will go back to doing it!
There are about 16 of us going out to dinner at 4:30. Was only going to be 6 of us but someone opened their mouth and people are calling asking to go along so.....guess it is going to be a bigger party than we planned on but we will enjoy.
I haven' heard from Sheryl but saw somewhere on here she was or had been in the hospital.

Gail - I Think that is a great Idea. We should start a New Chat just for recipes.

Pat - Happy Birthday! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Nan - So glad that you got your New washer and that you are happy with it.

Dusty - How are all your projects going?

Sheryl - How are you doing?

Val - How's the New job?

Well, I finished with the mulch and the yard looks so much better. It is hard to believe that mulch will make such a difference. But, it does. The yard now looks finished. Now I just need to buy a couple bags of rocks for along the fence between the next door neighbor and us.

The New guy that we hired is working out really well. And I am happy about that as I got another call yesterday about one of our post that had fallen over. It was one that was put in by the driver we are getting rid of. He is not digging the holes deep enough for the post. This is not what we need. This is why we got rid of the last two. Any ways DH is going to talk with him and going to let him go after this week as the new guy will be ready to go.

Today, I have the wash to finish and floors to wash. My son is going to clean the flyer boxes and help me decorate for Halloween. I know it's a little ways a way but, I like to do it early as I love Halloween. I have started on the books for the end of the month and I am almost done with that.

Hope everyone is having a good week so far.

Good Morning:

The flooring people are coming around noon and in the late afternoon I have PT. Other than that I plan to read a book.

Food went well again yesterday. I'm making myself drink some water, unsweetened coffee or tea before and/or with meals. Also, making my lunch and snacks ahead of time and planning my dinner. My neighbor left town to care for her mother. Before she left she told me to pick her tomatoes. I had one for dinner last night and what a treat. Nothing like what you get in the store.

Gail

Nan: What kind of washing machine did you get? Do you like it? Is it a stackable?

Pat: Happy Birthday. Any special plans?

Val: How is your new assignment going? Are you done with training?

Dusty: Did you finish all the painting of the SS classroom?

Sheryl: We haven't heard from you. How is your food going? Are you doing any hiking?

Sandy: Any recipes you can share? You know, I bet it would be very interesting to see the staple recipes team members use. i bet they differ, depending on the regions where we live.

Back to the grind today-walk early (still 80 then) and then worked in the front flower beds-they are now cleaned up so hopefully they will stay that way for a couple of weeks. We got our confirmation for the condo so will be going to Siesta Key for Bill's birthday the end of Sept. Looking forward to that. This afternoon Vicky & I swam and it was raining-no thunder of lightning so we just stayed in the pool!!!
Taking a day off tomorrow-feel my b-day warrants a break in the routine!!!

We spend a lot of time over 100 degrees some summers, but this year I think we "only" got up to 97 or 99 one or two times. It's been a halfway decent summer instead of a blazing hot one. I really hope that doesn't mean that we're going to have a really cold winter...

Another beautiful day here but, were will heat up to the mid 80's for the next 4 days. It looks like we found another driver to replace the one we have. So far the new guy is working out.

Today we are just relaxing and cooking. Will do some cleaning. Monday it is back to the route. I have to get to Home Depot and pick up a few things and get to DMV for my son car. He need new plates and new license.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

lSheryl has been in the hospital. I am not sure if she is out yet or not. I think I saw a note about it on her page.
Val so happy you like the new tv.
Gail it sounds like before long everything is going to be just how you want it. I am sure it will be a big relief when it is all done. Do you think you will be a little lost then?
Sandy so happy you were able to enjoy the visit with your son's friend in spite of your migraine.
Dusty I am sorry your Washer took a hit but glad your new one will soon arrive. One sure can't manage without one very well.

Walked before daylight and home by 7:30. Then before 8 I headed up to work in the gardens. Vicky & I have all the little beds cleaned out in one area and I fertilized the roses and put Preen out again.
Vicky & I went to the pool about 10:30 and before we knew it, it was 12:30! We had it all to ourselves so got in a good workout.
We have heard thunder this afternoon but no rain here so guess I have to go out and water later on. I do not like to be outside when it is thundering. Dangerous! Hopefully we are going to cool down early next week. Another day of high temps.

Well, we all had a great time yesterday. Even with my migraine which I keep from everyone till the kids left. We picked up my sons friend at 2pm from the airport and then went and got a bite to eat. The the two of them went to check out the school my son's friend is going to go to. Then my son took him to his hotel where they hung out. I was in bed early. Today I have some errors to run that I didn't get to yesterday and some cleaning.

Dusty - I hear you on time running short. There is just not ever enough time.

Vali - I just love the Flat screen TVs. They don't take up so much room like the old ones did.

Gail - Having my son home is really nice.

Pat - How did DH's Doctors appt. go?

Sheryl - How is that Project coming?

Nan - What are you up to this weekend?

I hope that everyone has a great weekend! emoticon

The new TV is a flat screen. I think they may all be flat screens these days. It's absolutely wonderful. The old TV started losing its picture several months ago and it had gotten so bad that I was watching most things on about 6 vertical inches at the middle of the screen. (I've been mostly listen to things on the TV for a while but now I can actually read what's on the screen if I need to. emoticon

Gail, I'm so pleased to hear you talk about finally being able to make the choices and do the things that will make your house a comfortable home for you to live in. It sounds to me like you're getting a lot closer to that simplicity you've been wanting for so long. I'm vey happy for you. emoticon

I guess I'd better shut the computer down and get myself to bed. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday.

There was much rejoicing!

Good Evening:

Yesterday I signed the contract with the painter, and today the plumber stopped and showed me the costs for the new plumbing I ordered. I get about a 30% discount off the showroom price since he is getting it under his name, so that's quite a savings. The cabinet maker is coming tomorrow morning and he will show me the prices for the cupboard and vanity doors, the kitchen crown molding and the new cabinet in the utility room. I'm holding my breath as I have no idea what the costs will be. The biggest expenditure will undoubtedly be for the flooring. UGH! Well, it is what it is. I've got two fair size checks coming from the last two auctions so that will help. (Yes, my stuff is still selling on auctions, though there isn't too much left.)

I had a birthday lunch for my friend Ann this afternoon: mini peppers stuffed with homemade hummus, deviled eggs, fresh salad, crustless spinach quiche, potato salad, steamed carrots and rotisserie chicken. They really enjoyed it and so did I. Got to admit the potato salad and chicken came from the supermarket. The rest I did. With everything that is going on I just didn't have it in me to do it all from scratch.

My food is still horrible, but at least my diet includes a lot of super foods: almond milk, coconut or olive oil, avocado, broccoli, fish, lean meat, beans and legumes, etc.

Wishing you all sweet dreams,

Gail

Pat: I haven't been to the movies in years. The last time I went it was a disaster. I thought I was going to see a comedy and it turned out to be a horrible story of the treatment and deaths of people in a concentration camp during WWII. (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas)

Sandy: So sweet of you to host your son's friend. it sounds so great that your son is with you.

Dusty: What a lot of work you are undertaking. Forgive my ignorance, but what is an SS room?

Val: How do you like the new TV? Is it a flat screen? What kinds of things do you watch?
I bet you watch the car races, right?

Sheryl and Nan: Where are you? What are you up to?

Boy, Dusty you are one busy lady. I bet the room looks great now after all you have done.

Vali - So glad that you were finally able to get your TV. My son is going back to school but, he is also working with me when he is not in school. He may even get a part-time job at night. But, he first has to get his leg better as he can't walk very fast or up and down stairs very well. So, he is in PT.

Pat - I hope that DH's appt. goes well on Friday.

Today my sons friend comes into town to look at a school here. We are going to pick him up at the airport and drop him off at the school. The he will be coming over for dinner later. He is only here for one day. I am going to run some errors and start on the books.

Hope that everyone has a wonderful day.

SS room primed on Tuesday...have to purchase paint now and again this is a large room
hoping we won't have to spend a lot for this and hoping to get it done within the week so we can get back to our own kitchen door and then indoor painting at our house before SS starts.

Dusty it seems like you are staying quite busy. Did you get your SS room (?'s) painted. Did you get help or were you doing it all by yourself. Homemade pico sounds delicious, but I want some tortilla chips with it so..... emoticon try not to indulge very often. I find I am bad - if it is in the house, it calls my name-EAT ME, EAT ME! so the only way I can cope is to just not have things to tempt me.
Val I am excited for you that you finally got your new tv. emoticon emoticon I guess to you it is big but it would be an issue here-DH's eye dr said we should get an even larger one next time we replace ours and we have a 42"! I asked if we could take a tax deduction since he "ordered it". He just laughed at me. However, with his eye issues I guess it is necessary so he can enjoy it.
Today is "play day" after working hard the past 3 days. Went to breakfast and going to a movie about noon. We haven't gone to a movie theatre in ages so hopefully it is worth the $$$. Plan to eat lunch first so all the popcorn, etc isn't tempting.
Have a great day.

I'm still in the same job, just adding the last department to my training at this site. In the blood bank I will be testing people's blood for their blood type and for any unexpected blood type antibodies that might cause them to have a bad reaction when they receive blood. I also crossmatch various parts of units of blood to set up for them to (hopefully) not have bad reactions to. I've mostly been working in hematology, where I count blood cells and look at blood slides under the microscope. That's actually my favorite part of my job but I've been getting pretty bored for a while so it's going to be really nice to be able to work in all of the departments again. I feel like Piniocchio...I'm a real tech now, I'm a real tech now! (Or almost, anyway.)

I finally got my fanny to Best Buy and bought a TV today. And you guys all thought it would never happen... emoticon It's 24 inches, which is actually larger than the 19 to 22 inches I had planned on buying, but much smaller than most of the TVs they had for sale. It hardly took me any time to set it up and it's really light so it won't destroy my dresser the way another one started to do. (Not the one I just threw away, but the one before it which is in my extra room and may not work anymore.) I got one that has a DVD player included in it so I won't have to watch the nothing that's on the TV all the time. Little Kitty's going to miss sleeping on the old TV, but she still has the cable box to lie on and destroy. emoticon emoticon

Gail, I'm really glad that you're going to be able to get your house made over to your liking. After all that you've been through and all of the work that you've putting into making it a nice place for you to live out the rest of your days, you deserve to have it be exactly the way you want it to be. I hope that you have many joyous days ahead of you there, with no more stress at all. emoticon

Sandy, I'm glad that things seem to be going better for your son. I know I keep asking, but I'm old and I forget...is he going to be going to school or just working with you in your business? I know that you must be thrilled to have him back with you, especially since you could tell that he wasn't happy where he was. Moms just don't like that. emoticon

Pat, my 80 degrees with "high" humidity has been fabulous but I know that where you are 80 degrees with real humidity must be absolutely miserable. I'll try to send you some of my weather if you'll promise to try not to send yours back with it. emoticon

Well I'd best eat some dinner and then not stay up past midnight tonight. This might be a good time to try to get into some new habits...I hope that you all have a wonderful Thursday.

There was much rejoicing!

Hello Everyone,
checking back in. I am doing some cleaning today. My caseworker is coming tomorrow and I want it to look good when she comes. Working on some 3 month goals to do before Thanksgiving. Hoping to be able to save enough money for Erin and Maddie plane tickets to come and see me and Chris and Caitlin for Thanksgiving and also save enough for the Women's Retreat at my church in October so lots to save for. But both will be a lot of fun! Sunday we are having our annual picnic at church to rededicate the fellowship hall. It was the area the youth were meeting but moved them upstairs so we could have the fellowship hall for things like this. So happy to see what they have got done.

pat- Sounds like your perm is nice! I have naturally curly hair so I have a perm all the time! lol It is nice to just wash it and put some gel in it and go . Sometimes I use mouse too. Hope you find out something from doctor for your husband.

Val- Hope you have a good time with your new job. I did volunteer work for one of my internships in college at the Red Cross and we had a blood bank but I just checked people in. It is great when people donate blood. I have tiny veins and take a lot of medications so I can't donate. I wish I could. We had a lot of people donate for my dad when he was dying of a rare blood disorder and we have all tired to give blood back.

Sandy- So glad things are going so well with your son! Hope his PT continues to go well.

Gail- Glad you have got so much professional help for your house! I am sure it will look great when you finish!

Dusty- Fresh pico sounds great! That is wonderful you have a garden to work in! I live in an apt so I don't have anywhere to grow anything and have never been able to keep even a house plant alive so sure I would not be able to do what you do! lol

Hope everyone has a great day! :)

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Val a change is always good and a new challenge will help to keep your brain sharp! I enjoyed my month of working as it was good to give myself a new challenge. I hope you stay enthused about this and all goes well in training.

Sandy Glad your son is being such a big help to you and is doing well in PT. How long will he be doing PT? Sounds like some wonderful meals being prepared. Right now it is just too stinking hot to think about going outside to grill down here!!!

Gail I am so happy to hear you decided to get some professional help as it seems that has helped you deal with making these choices. I bet it is all going to be lovely when you are finished. You are going to feel like you have a brand new home. It will be wonderful for you to "age in place" in your own home.

DH has had some ups and downs since Sat but I guess that is going to be the "new norm" for him. He has to see the gastro doc next Fri. so going to pin him down and get some answers or we are changing docs and we still might do that!!!

We are experiencing the hottest weather of the summer today and tomorrow. I have been getting up by 6 am so I can walk very early and it is still 80! I have been limiting my work in the gardens but making a little progress every day and get inside by 9:30 -10 and still feel like I have worked for a full day! My PMR is doing better-trying to only take medicine for it every other day now.

Pat

Val - I am so excited for you about your new job. It sounds like you are too.

Pat - Your hair, I am sure, looks wonderful. How is DH doing?

Sheryl - How is the landscape project going?

Gail - How is did it go with picking out the paint and the fixtures? Yes, my son has been a big help to me and he is much happier now that he is home. His PT is going well too.

Well, I got the front area mulch and it looks so much better. Even my son said it changes the whole look of the front entrance. Now, I just have to do the back. That will only take about 3 bags as that is much smaller. Today I have to do a few errors ad go down the Market and pick out some fresh Salmon for tonight's dinner. Also, have some cleaning to do too. Weather here has been a little humid than hot but, yesterday we did get a nice breeze. Today is overcast and a little cooler. You can feel the change in the season. Starting to get the house ready for the winter. Hard to believe.

Hope that everyone is having a great week.

Gail (and everyone), there are different sizes of containers that you can buy in packs of 5 or 6. I like to cook something in my slow cooker and then freeze it in individual serving sizes. In my previous apartment I had a huge freezer but the one in this apartment is just tiny, so I can't do that right now. emoticon

For the next 3 or4 weeks I'll be training to work in the blood bank, which is the first department I ever worked in but also one that I haven't worked in for several years. I'm excited! I'll be a real tech again! I'm also a little bit nervous...and I have to go to work at 8:00 in the morning on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until my training is finished. I'll be training on my normal shift on Thursdays and Fridays, and then on Saturdays I'll be working my normal schedule in my main department. I hope this only takes 3 weeks because getting up at 5:00 or 5:30 in the morning is NOT something that I have missed. emoticon

It seems like we may have seen our final days with temperatures in the 90's...last month! emoticon It hasn't been terribly hot this summer, though it has been miserably humid at times. That's okay. The humidity is good for our skin and hair (even though it feels awful) and the rain is really good for New Mexico in general. I've only heard of small, easily contained fires in the state this summer, and that's a darn nice change. emoticon I hope the cooler summer isn't a sign that we're going to have a super cold winter, but for me that would definitely be better than the summers we usually have here.

I'd better get to bed so that I can get up at 5:30 again tomorrow. emoticon I hope you all have a happy Hump Day.

There was much rejoicing!

Hello Everyone! A friend from my San Antonio Sparkers group posted this and thought I would share with all of you! I too am trying to get back on track! Very motivating! emoticon

Like many of you, I have slipped back into some less-than-healthy habits over the summer. I was looking for some ideas to "get my spark back", and I came across a great spark article called "25 Ways to Get Back on Track Today". Here are the ideas they listed:

1. Try a short workout. Even five minutes is better than nothing. For ideas browse our video library or workout generator.

2. Try a new recipe. Cooking healthy foods can be fun and it never has to be bland.

3. Eat a healthy breakfast. Your morning meal sets the stage for the rest of your day, so start if off right! Get lots of breakfast ideas here.

4. Drink your water. Try to aim for 8 cups each day and you’ll feel the difference!

5. Look at Motivational SparkPages. Seeing how others overcome similar struggles and obstacles can be a great source of motivation.

6. Track your food today. No matter how it adds up, you’ll learn from it.

7. Update your SparkPage. It’s a visual way to track your ups and downs, but also your progress.

8. Share your goals. Whether you post them on the Message Boards or share them with a friend, you’ll be more accountable.

9. Exercise for 10 minutes. Jump rope, march in place, or do some crunches. Small amounts do add up to something big!

10. Find a buddy. Get support from friends, whether you need someone to listen or a mentor to give you ideas and encouragement.

11. Take a walk. Don’t worry about how long or far you go—just get out there!

12. Create a motivational collage. Include pictures of your goal and reasons why you want to get there.

13. Go shopping for some healthy foods. Use this shopping list for ideas.

14. Check the nutrition facts before you go out to eat. That way, you can make an informed choice.

15. Ride your bike. Even a leisurely ride has benefits for your body and mind.

16. Work in the yard. Gardening and yard work is a great way to add activity to your day.

17. Take the stairs. Even if this is the only thing you do all day, you’ll feel stronger for it.

18. Rack up those SparkPoints! You earn them for every healthy task you do on the site—talk about motivating! Aim for a certain milestone, such as 100 points, and then reward yourself with a SparkGoodie!

19. Listen to an inspirational song. Better yet, make a playlist of them so you can turn to it whenever you need a boost.

20. Re-start your SparkPeople program. Sometimes it’s easier to get back on track when you have a clean slate.

21. Measure your portions. It’s a simple way to learn how much you’re eating.

22. Eat a piece of fruit. Even if 5-9 servings of fruit and vegetables sounds impossible to you, one is doable.

23. Slow down during meals. You’ll be less likely to overeat and more likely to enjoy your meal.

24. Play! What kids call “play,” we often call “exercise.” Play a sport, a game, or use the playground equipment to bring the fun back into fitness.

25. Learn something new. Sometimes simply taking a quiz or reading an article about nutrition, fitness, or health can change your mindset and get you back on track.

Another hot one down here. Early morning walk, bathed Abbie, did some work in the park gardens and sprayed my weeds in the rocks around my house as too hard to pull the little ones out. Then set up an appointment to get my hair done this afternoon. I have a totally different look-got a perm-1st time in about 8 yrs!! Love it, will be easy to do, wash it and them run fingers thru it and let it air dry. Did some errands afterwards and by the time I got home it was 4:30.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Always good to have it in portions, and also very good to plan ahead.

Meeting with the decorator today to pick paint and vanity counters.

Gail -The other suggest that I thought of was doing portion, I use to do this. And started back doing it again. I fix myself little containers of healthy snack. Then when I got a craving I would grab one of those. We have wild blackberry brushes back of our house so I go out back and pick them and throw on ice cream or with a cereal in the morning or snack.

My son started PT yesterday. He is happy about that and is feeling better about things. He and I are fixing diner together every night. We really enjoy it. Working in the warehouse today with my son. Then running errors.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Gail I find I do best if I plan my food ahead. When I leave things to chance, then I am much more apt to stray. I try to keep lots of fresh fruit and veggies ready to snack on. Don't forget to drink your water too.
It was up and at em today. We are to be extremely hot all week so have to do outside "chores" early. Got my walk in before 8 and after a quick bite to eat I headed up to the long white fence to finish my weeding along it. Luckily the greater part of what I needed to do was in the shade so it wasn't too bad. emoticon
I got busy at home after I emptied my buckets of weeds and filled up two more! I had to prune my ornamental sweet potato again. Seems it needs it about every two weeks right now. Then I headed to my flower bed in the back and worked on it. The dollar weed was trying to take over so had to pull all of that out and trim my roses and get all the other weeds too!!!
By the time I finished, I was dripping and was glad to come in and take a shower. I was cutting out coupons when Vicky called about 10:30 and asked if I wanted to go to the pool so headed down there when I finished and we spent about 90 minutes in the pool. Got a good workout and kept cool! We had it all to ourselves so it was great. emoticon
This afternoon I "attacked" the upper part of the hutch on the end I did the base last week and now it is nice and neat. I have 3 pr of glasses to donate to the Lions Club to give to others and 2 old cell phones to donate to be used for abused women. No sense in those things just laying in there not being used. I filled up a trash can with stuff that I had crammed in and now no longer feel it is necessary to hang onto. Why do we do this to ourselves???? I now open my mail daily and pitch things immediately. Sure saves a lot of work later on! emoticon
Hope you ladies had a marvelous Monday. Mine was productive but not exhausting!

Gail - the only suggest that I can think of is just to keep busy. Then you are not thinking about the food.

Cleaning day. My son has a friend that is coming into town to check out a school this week. Only here for a day. Alec starts PT today has been doing it on his own.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Good Morning:

Have been having a terrible time with my food since Friday, though it is getting a bit better day by day. Would appreciate any hints or suggestions you might have for coping. Planning on reading a book today.

Church this morning and then to lunch with Vicky & Sonny at Olive Garden-soup & salad. We played some cards when we got home and then just relaxed. Back to the grind tomorrow.

We have had showers that came in about noon. I did walk early and worked in my yard after that. DH has had a bit of a setback today so taking it easy and keeping an eye on him this afternoon. I think it might have been the BBQ ribs he ate yesterday evening. If things straighten out will cross that off his list of things he can eat. Guess it will all be trail and error until we find out what sets him off.

Rainy and windy here today. Makes me tired. Hope everyone is well.

A day at a time and I will reach my goal. I am not perfect but I will forgive myself for the mistakes I make. Life is full of choices and sometimes we don't always make the best ones but that's what makes us human.
