After working for the past month it sure seemed strange to not have to go in today. I did go into go over things with Sharon as I wanted to be sure she understood my notes. Think I left her in good shape.
Have to take DH for his fitting of his dentures this afternoon. Have been thinking we might get rain from the ? off the coast. They aren't calling it a tropical depression yet. The sky looked really strange this morning when I walked. Guess the next 2-3 days are going to be iffy weather-wise = not sure what way this could go. Weather man isn't sure if it will come in or turn and go out to sea.

emoticon Good Morning!
I had a terrific day yesterday. I cut away the dead evergreens that died this past winter...orange evergreens are dead Fred.
My rib didn't like me using emoticon the loppers...I guess. Planning to transplant a rhodo there and some shade loving plants: Lady's Mantle, wild ginger, etc.

I also picked up a 3 tiered bird bath fountain that I need to re-finish.
I am working on getting outside to enjoy a bit of every Summer Day we have. Last night was so clear for emoticon star gazing too! Have a great day today!

I know what you mean Val! I have alcholics in my family too and was married to a alcoholic. But I have learned not to say anything to them about it because I love them and wish they could get sober but if I say anything it is just a big fight so I avoid it and just dont' say anything plus they are adults an can drink if they want to. It is their health not mine. I may drink a drink if I am out with someone who is drinking but that is only every 6 months if that. I would rather drink tea or diet pepsi diet dr pepper or just water. I rarily drink alchol. I have never had a problem with it mainly because I have relatives that do and I just learned from their lives and I was always trying to get my ex husband to get treatment and he never would and was abusive too so I just finally divorce him and don't talk to him anymore. He will just be verbally abusive and cuss me out if I don't do what he wants to it is better for me to not talk to him. Some people who drink can handle it and some people can't and get mean and abusve with it like my ex. My other relatives just drink at home and they are not hurting anyone with it. People will only stop when they want to stop and get the help. I worked for a year and half with alcholics and drug addicts in a outpatient mental health clinic and some people we just had to stop helping because they refused to do what we ask of them which was to stay on their meds and give up the alchol and drugs. It is not easy for people to stop drinking or doing drugs. I have never had a problem with either one. Glad you had fun!

There's nothing wrong with drinking for most people, but when I was in college I was drinking beer (which I don't even like) with the intention of getting drunk. My family has alcoholics on both sides a couple of generations back and I saw myself starting down the same road. So I keep a little bit of wine for cooking and mostly just stay away from alcohol. A couple of times a year is one thing...every weekend is quite another. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Glad you had so much fun with your friends in celebrating your birthday! And there is nothing wrong with drinking! glad you had fun! It is your 50th! you should have some drinks and have fun! So sorry your kitty is not feeling good! hope they are able to find a medication they can give your ktty to make it feel better! My daughters cat was doing that and she gave him medicine twice but finally had to put him to sleep because she could not afford the surgery he needed but he was really old too. But they got another kitten who fits in well with the other two cats and 4 dogs they have! She loves animals and so does her roommate and my granddaughter!

Have a good night!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I had a great time last night with my friends. Got tipsy enough to feel good and have fun without getting drunk enough to feel bad this morning...and someone else drove, so I didn't have to worry about that, either. emoticon

My big plan for the rest of this week off is to clean and rearrange my bedroom. That's not going to be nearly as much work as cleaning one room has been for Gail, but it's still going to be a big job. Hopefully with a week to get it all done I'll be able to accomplish something good in there.

But first things first...Kitty Luna has to go to the vet. Until she gets treated for her urinary tract infection I have to hold off on putting new sheets and blanket and comforter on the bed. Poor kitty. She got antibiotics a little over a month ago but I wasn't able to make it to her follow up 2 weeks later. I didn't make a replacement appointment because she seemed to be feeling much better, but now her infection seems to be back so I need to make sure that it's really taken care of this time. Then after she's gotten her shot and I can be sure that she's not going to ruin a 3rd comforter I'll finish with that room by putting new sheets, a new blanket and a new comforter on the bed. That will be a nice way to start my first day back to work, with everything clean and fresh. emoticon

I hope the rest of you have had a fabulous weekend. Try to start your new week out with a smile. emoticon

Hello Everyone!

I know what you mean Nan! Where has all of June gone! Can't believe it is almost the 4th of July! I don't do anything for the 4th anymore. It does get really loud around my apt complex with fireworks but I have not seen most of the kids that were here so I think they have all moved out so it may be quieter this year.

It was raining this morning about the time I would have got on the bus for church so I didn't got today. I don't like walking in the rain but it stopped and dryed off. I have another child support check that came into the child support division Thursday but it takes two business days to get it on my debit card so hopefully tomorrow! I was scrambling looking for something to eat and did find some red beans I can put on to cook. So funny because somehow I got a package that is all in Spanish and I can't speak Spanish! lol But I still know how to make them without having the directions! I love red beans! I like it with cornbread too but out of milk and butter so would not make very good cornbread without milk and butter so I will just eat them with ketchup! I know I am weird but I do live red beans with ketchup too! emoticon

I am going to make a list today of things I need to do tomorrow! I think I am just going to take it easy today too. Then Mon and Tues I don't have appointments so I can get some things done then too.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Val - Happy Birthday emoticon

Sorry everyone I have been so busy with end of the month books. Plus we have been really busy as the 4th of July is next weekend and everyone is getting orders in now. I had the guys get kids to take with them on Friday as we were so busy that they would of been out till dark if they had gone out a lone. The problem here is the traffic. It is worse than Los Angeles, CA. The Hwy's here are being re-vamp as they are out dated.

Any ways, it sounds like everyone is busy. Hope everyone has a great week.

Dusty you really hit "paydirt" and got quite the bargain. At the price of cauliflower at the store you will really reap the benefits when the plants are ready to eat.

Val I hope you had an awesome birthday celebration and not suffering today because of too much liquor. What are your plans for the coming week???

Gail there is rain predicted daily but it has been missing us. I am wondering if the storm brewing out in the Atlantic will bring more widespread rain. I am hoping it does.

Had a nice dinner last night with Vicky & Sonny and sent some leftovers home with them. I also took meals over to a couple here in our community with health issues and there was still enough left for our lunch today. Guess I thought I was feeding an army!

Dusty: Your garden will be wonderful. That's something I miss, but not having full range of motion in my left shoulder I can't hack it any more.

Darla: Enjoy church.

Pat: Sounds like you could use a good rain. Anything in the forecast?

Sheryl: Where are you? We haven't seen you in a while. Everything OK?

Nan: Any special plans today?

Val: So how was your Birthday Celebration? Did you get smashed on margaritas?

Yesterday was difficult for me. I was eating everything in sight...nerves getting to me when I'm so ambivalent in picking flooring. For the first time in ages I really felt like a turtle sundae or chocolate and coffee ice cream. I had neither in the house, and in fact, I don't have anything "bad" in the house. Boy, was I ever tempted to get my butt over to the supermarket. But I didn't. I did think it would be good to make a soup, so I soaked some black beans. This morning I made a soup I found on the internet. Delicious, healthy, and very low in calories...just like I like my soups. If you like I'll share the recipe with you. Also, I'd like some recipes that meet that criteria if you have some on hand.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone,

Gail

A nursery near me has huge golden pepper plants emoticon and cauliflower, tomatoes, emoticon etc for...pardon the pun...dirt cheap...$4 for 6 cauliflower and 2 peppers! You might want to check out and see what yours has. These plants are 6 times larger than those I already have in the ground. June just seems to have flew by this year!
Well of course after days of rain being forecast and not a drop fell... the rain emoticon came while we were out visiting our grandson...so now my laundry is rinsing on the clothesline emoticon

Hello Everyone!

Thank you Gail and Pat for your encouraging understanding words. I just got real overwhelmed yesterday and feel better today. I didn't go to weight watchers and slept in and got up at noon and just laid on the coach and watched TV. I just needed some time to do nothing. If I don't take a day like that and do too much during the week is when I get overwhelmed and start crying. I just had to put my foot down with the housing recovery support specialist Friday. There is just no reason for me to see her and the caseworker. I have other people I see that are taking care of things for me and I don't need a bunch of people trying to do the same thing. It is just too much for me. So today I just rested! I made some beef stronganoff from hamburger helper tonight for supper and now just watching Suze Orman then 48 hours.

Tomorrow I am going to get up and go to Sunday School and Church. It always helps a lot to do that and gets me through the week to see my friends at church.

I just get tired easy with all I have to do. I wish I had a car that would help a lot. I will just have to save for it.

I feel much more rested today than I did yesterday! I just have to have a day of doing absolutely nothing sometimes. It is the only way I can get refueled to keep up with the rest of the week. This next week I only see my counselor and my housing casweworker and that is all so I will have several other days this week I can rest and maybe have the energy to get some cleaning done on my apt.

Hope everyone has a great evening and Sunday tomorrow!

Darla

Dusty, in my experience hanging laundry on the line is one of the few things that will actually cause it to rain. Washing your car is one of the others. I wish I had a yard so I could try it out. It might rain on Monday and/or Tuesday. I'll believe it if I see it.

Tonight is my birthday celebration with my friends from work. I'm going to eat Mexican food and drink margaritas. I'll really need to get back on track on Monday but I think it's okay to go a little crazy once or twice a year. I hope you all have a great weekend. emoticon

Dusty-rain is missing us too. It is hitting all around us but nothing here for the last 5 days. With the heat we really do need some rain. I am having to water every night.
Vicky & Sonny arrived home this afternoon and I have dinner in the oven and invited them over to eat about 5.
We went to a couple of yard sales this morning but not much out there. Down here the really good ones don't start until fall. I did some gardening when I got back but got pretty hot out there. I just cannot handle being out there when it gets so hot so gave up and came home. Of course, then I worked in the kitchen for over an hour!

Darla hope things fall into place so you don't need so many visits with all the drs and aides. I know we have a number of them for Bill but they don't consume us or take all day. I luckily can plan around them and accomplish other things too.

Good Morning:

Today Travis will come for Vic's gun cabinet and a few other things. The cabinet is heavy so his dad is helping him move it. On July 9th someone is coming for 3 very large bookcases, one of which is in the back bedroom where the gun cabinet is. I'm in the process of getting the hospice volunteers to come for a large desk made up of two file cabinets topped with a refinished wooden board. With all that out that room will just have a few barristers bookcases. There is another large item that I will be donating to hospice, a large entertainment center. With that out of the way I'll have another room freed up, with only my reading chair, a computer, computer desk and chair. I plan to have my bedroom, two guest rooms and an office upstairs. I'll need to pick up a bed for one of the guest rooms and that should do it.

I can feel the stress I've been under with the way my food has been going. I'm eating too much, though it is all healthy stuff. Got to get a grip; this is not good. Any tips how you stop yourself from mindless eating when you are not hungry? Maybe you don't have that problem.

Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Gail

Darla: I feel for you. I know what it's like to be overwhelmed. That's the reason I've been going away every few months. I'm close to the end of my journey, but for almost two years it's been quite a ride getting rid of Vic's things. As you indicated in your posts it appears to me that you are forever meeting with doctors, social workers and other support staff. It's easy to see how you just want some peace. It must be difficult trying to get a grip on things. Hope things turn out better for you.

Hello Everyone!

emoticon Val! I hope you had a great birthday and got to hear from your parents! It is a headache to have to buy new things but also fun to have something new and get rid of the old! I will be 50 in November! So happy 50th Birthday! We still have lots more years to have some fun!

Pat- So glad to hear your husband is doing better! At least that is one appointment you wont' have to go back to for a while! hope after Monday you can get some rest! That is pretty crazy that hearing aids are so high! I hope you find some cheaper ones that will last a long time.

I had a knock on my door today and it was one of the case workers I had only met with once and I had just woke up so I didn't let her in. I had changed my phone number and forgot to give it to her so now she has it and she wanted me to check on the Medicaid and after a very long phone call to two different people I finally found out I don't qualify anymore for that since my ex husband is paying the back child support. So now I won't qualify for anyone to come in and help me. I had another recovery support specialist that was coming to see me from housing and I had already told her it was too much for her and the case worker to come and just too much for me today that I told her I did not want to see her. after I hung up talking to her I just started crying! I just am so overwhelmed with all the people I have to see each week and busy on the weekends too that after that I finally just laid down to take a nap and woke up just in time for my daughter to call me. There is really nothing I can do to cut back on seeing people or doing things but like it much better when I have a day I don't do anything! It just gets real overwhelming sometimes! So the rest of the night I am just going to fix me some supper and just relax. hopefully telling the recovery support specialist the secone time that I don't want to see her will be enough. She is not qualitifed to doing anything but resources but she keeps acting like the caseworker and it is just too much for me. She proubly wont' tell her boss that way so I may have to talk to him myself. That is one person I can cut out seeing whether he likes it or not.

Well hope everyone has a good night!

Darla

Good Evening:

Oh my, the AC installation didn't come a day too soon. It got hot and uncomfortable today. I went to the gym, ran some errands and stopped in at Aldi's. They had blueberries for 99 cents a pint...limit 6...and cantaloupe for 99 cents each. Yum. I took 6 pints of blueberries and froze 5 of them.

I was really sleepy this afternoon and when I sat in my "reading" chair I fell asleep. MMM, so good.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Gail

Pat: Glad Bill's numbers improved.

emoticon Val. Do hope you were able to get the phone call from your parents. So aggravating isn't it when electronics do not work. I too hate replacing things but often we must. We have talked to 3 different companies about hearing aides and all are telling us that 3 years is about the life of any of them. For the absurd prices on a pair one would think they should last longer than that. A pair can run from $3,000 to $12,000! Spending that kind of $$ is not in the budget every 3 or so years! At least we have bought another year by fixing this one so have time to do more research and see if we can find any that have more quality built into them.
Gail have you considered tile for you kitchen? You can even get tile that looks like wood and lots of options on the colors. Just a thought? Hope you had a relaxing time after you errands reading.

At last, some good news. DH's hemoglobin has climbed to 11.3 in the last month. Dr. was quite happy about that and he won't have to return for 3 mo. Until he got above 10 he wanted to check him monthly.
Today was my last day of work. Sharon got in yesterday BUT she went to Urgent Care as soon as they go in. She has a very bad upper respiratory infection. If she isn't better Mon. I may have to cover for her still. I got everything I wanted to get accomplished done. I plan to go in Mon. morning to go over everything with her.

Good Morning

Well, I'm all set for the hot weather. The AC was installed yesterday so I'm good to go. Also yesterday Travis told me I did well on the last auction. With all that I've been getting from the sale of Vic's things I've been able to go away and still have enough for the new AC, the new flooring, and painting. I've still a few auctions to go and some bookcases that I'm selling, so the end is in sight.

I thought about wood floors but the truth is I don't think light wood would be good for the kitchen. My cabinets are very dark and light wood just doesn't look good. The kitchen faces north, so I don't get any sun and a dark floor would make the kitchen look darker yet. I need light colors for the floor and walls, especially here in WI where the winter and gloomy weather go on and on. My counter tops are light with subtle light, medium and dark strands.

Today is beautiful, so the plan is to run some errands, go to the gym and read on the back porch. Woo Hoo!

Sending you all hugs.

Gail

Pat, I'm sorry that your DH is still having so much trouble and having to have every test known to man trying to get a real diagnosis. I hope someone figures something out soon...

Gail, good luck with trying to find the right shade for your floors. I know that too dark can be depressing sometimes. I had to buy a new comforter today and I was not entirely thrilled with the selection available where I was but didn't want to make any more stops on my way home. The one I got is black and gray and white. Probably going to show cat hair pretty badly, but it will be better than the one that I threw out because one of my cats peed on it. emoticon You just can't clean that fully enough to keep her from smelling it and peeing again in the same spot. I'm going to have to take her back to the vet tomorrow or next week to find out if she's got another urinary tract infection. Poor kitty. I'm not going to put the new one on until after kitty's been to the vet, don't want this one getting messed up, too...

In 3 hours and 20 minutes I'll be 50. I'm pretty much okay with that, though my little 5 year old inner self still thinks it's a really big number. emoticon I know that my parents are going to try to call me sometime during the day to wish me a happy birthday. I've been having trouble with my phone not ringing and my answering machine not letting me hear incoming calls so who knows how that's really going to work...After I talk to them I need to go to Best Buy to see about buying a new television. One of the ones that I have has been making a strange noise sometimes when it's off, and the one in my bedroom is really tiny and has developed lines running across a couple of inches of the upper half of the screen. I don't watch much TV, but this is getting to be ridiculous! Sometimes you just have to get over it and spend a little bit of money for your quality of life. (But it still bugs the heck out of me to have to buy something I've already got...)

Earlier there was one mosquito in my kitchen, which was making Little Kitty crazy. I had one mosquito get into the apartment last year, too. I can't figure out where they come from because there are never any standing pools of water anywhere hear my apartment. That kind of thing just really doesn't happen much in Albuquerque. I hope I'll only have the one again this year, guess we'll just have to wait and see. I hope you all have a fabulous Friday to celebrate my birthday. emoticon emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

FINALLY we got the results of DH's test and guess what-still inconclusive - so now more bloodwork, and another endoscopy. This time dr will go down even further and take more biopsies. He is thinking it could be Crohn's Disease and he wants to rule that out. I still think it is IBS!!
We also went to a different Audibel store and liked the personnel there much better and their price to fix the hearing aide was about $50 less. So now it is on the way to Minneapolis for repair at their factory.
Tomorrow is my last day of work. Not sure if I am happy but I do know I will get more rest! I will have to go in late as DH has to see the oncologist at 9. Never a dull moment when married to Humpty Dumpty-always patching him up!!!

Hello Everyone,
Well I was going to go to the start of the Women's Bible Study last night and laid on the coach and fell asleep! When I woke up it was too late to go so I will try again next week. They picked me up at 1105 for my appointment with my counselor at 100pm so I got there about 12 and waited for hour to see my counselor. It was a great session and he gave me some things to do to write down everything I do each day and it will be a long list! I am busy every day! Got back home just now at 330 pm so glad I am back at a reasonable time with the van. We got a little rain on the way but it was all clear and sunshine and beautiful day when I got out!

Gail I am sure you will make the right decision for yourself! It is your home so I am sure it will look great no matter what you do!

Pat I know the dentist is expensive. I can either save and buy the partials myself or wait until jan when my insurance gives me another $1000 dollars which would cover the dentures and still leave me a little for some other dental work. I will just have to see how it goes and see if my ex husband keeps paying the back child support. He has never been consistent with it.

Sandy- Glad everything is going so well with you! I know you miss your BIL when he goes back home! Glad things are going well for you!

Hope everyone has a good night and good day tomorrow!

Darla

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Good Morning:

The HVAC men are coming today to install my new AC. I've been very lucky because it's been cool in the evenings (60s) so I've been able to cool the house down. For the most part it hasn't been too hot during the day, (mostly in the high 70s-low 80s) and with the windows closed and the shades drawn it's been comfortable. That said, it's supposed to get hot for the weekend starting tomorrow, so it's all in good time.

I'm still not 100% on the flooring for the first floor. In case you're wondering why I'm anguishing so, it's because of a past experience. Many years ago I bought a new sofa. It was really lovely. But as soon as it was delivered and placed in the family room I panicked. It was all wrong. Without even removing the plastic covering I hightailed it to the furniture store and asked if I could return it. They were so gracious and reassuring. They came and got it and a few weeks later I returned with a sample of my carpeting and bought a new sofa that was a good fit. Well, you can't do that with flooring, can you? Especially the kitchen. I have very dark oak cabinetry and stainless appliances. My counter tops are light with strains of warm colors and light and dark specks. The counter tops have both warm and cool coloring. I can't change the fixed things so it's crucial I get the right floor for the kitchen. The problem is I have found something close, but I'm afraid it may be a little too dark. I want/need a bright kitchen. I don't want to feel that I'm living in a cave.

Well, enough said....

Wishing you all a really good day,

Gail

Darla glad you were able to get there in a reasonable amount of time. You are right it is so expensive to see the dentist. My DH had to get new dentures-he can't remember when he got his uppers-before we married so over 25 yrs ago! His lowers are about 6 or 7 yrs old and they were the low end ones and they are simply worn out-can't be relined anymore sooooo we had to bite the bullet and hopefully by July 10 he will have his new teeth. Luckily they offer 24 mo same as cash so it won't be so hard on the budget.
Gail I have often thought I would like a Murphy bed in our spare bedroom. It is very small only 10x12 so not a lot of room to put one in and I am not even sure if they can get one in with the way our door and hallway is. I may look into it more WHEN we get some other things paid off. Right now we only have a twin sofa in there. If we have company that needs a bigger bed, our sofa in the living room makes into a queen bed. Living in a mobile home has some disadvantages and this is one of them. Our bedroom is huge-the whole back of the house! It is 12x24 with a built in closet and bathroom out of that space but still huge and a tiny spare bedroom.
I am glad you have worked thru your funk. We always say we are in a "snit". It sounds like now you have a plan that things will progress and I can just bet you are enjoying sitting and reading and relaxing! Sounds good to me.
Val-you too seem to have made decisions about your life and now working on reaching your goals. I know you would like to get it all done while you are on vacation but since you have till next year, the pressure is off. Seems we are all trying to get rid of "stuff" we don't use or need. I managed to clean out 2 cabinets that serve as dividers between my living room and family room. I now have 4 empty shelves that I hope I do not fill back up!!! My next "challenge is to clean out my built in hutch in the dining room. It covers the whole 12 feet of the dining room so it is going to be done in stages but by the end of July or early Aug since I will be gone for a couple of weeks in July, it is going to be nice and neat and hopefully some empty shelves there too!!!!
Today was my next to last day working. I am doing the month end stuff and tidying up things in preparation for Sharon's return. I am making sure my notes make sense, etc. I believe have things pretty well covered and she will not be overwhelmed upon her return. There are some things that I am not authorized to do so she will have to deal with those but I have paid all the bills for the month, deposited all the monies received, balanced the bank stmts, shown homes, done the payroll, taken care of all the phone calls, and even did an annual project where a report has to be distributed to all the residents before June 30! It was good to challenge my skills and prove I am still capable of doing these things but it also has shown me I have no desire to return to full time employment. I will always be happy to step in if she wants to go on vacation but that is it!
This afternoon we ran some errands and took Bill's hearing aide to the shop. It is just out of warranty and now it isn't working and will cost $350 to get it fixed. Not too impressed with these more expensive ones. His old ones lasted for about 6 years and were still working when he got these!! For $3,000 one would expect it to last a bit more than 27 months!!!
Tomorrow we finally will get the results of his pill camera test. I guess if we had not kept calling we might never have gotten the results! An appointment should have been set up at the time the test was scheduled but it wasn't and I even asked the person who set up the test! Then, they dropped the ball again when we called for the results. It took 4 calls for them to tell us an appointment had to be scheduled-they kept saying a nurse would call!!!!!!
They are going to get an earful tomorrow about this.
OK off my soapbox. Hot down here-heat index of 102 today and hit 95 this afternoon. It was already 82 when I went for my walk at 6 am!

I did the same thing and decided to sign another year lease to try to go thru some things before thinking of moving anywhere but maybe next year although here I am close to wal mart and a lto of other places so I may just stay but definitely need to go thru things like you are ! you are motivating me! emoticon

Hello Everyone!

Gail- That's sounds like a great plan! That way you are prepared if you can't get up the stairs anymore! Wonderful idea with the bed and the shower! Glad you are feeling better!

Pat- I did make it pretty fast to and from the dentist yesterday. I left at 1230 and got back at 300. I only have $1000 a year I can use for my dental work with my insurance so I can only do so much but now that is it except for getting my dentures and I will have to come up with the money for that which is $700 that I don't have right now or wait until Jan to get the rest of it paid for with my insurance. I have a bone disease that was caused from genetics and my diabetes that is causing me to lose my teeth. So eventually I will lose all of htem but we are trying to hold onto as many as we can for as long as we can. I just need partials right now.

Well we had a big thunderstorm this morning and some flooding in my area but I can look ouit side and only see a puddle on the street nothing big. the ground has already soaked it all up! We got about 4 inches of rain! We sure needed it!

Well have to go fix me something to eat for a late lunch/supper. hope everyone has had a great day!

Darla

Gail, I'm so happy to hear that you're out of your funk. I could tell that you were really in one when you started talking about assisted living because I had never had any previous inkling that you might be anywhere near ready for one. It's good that you got some information about assisted living for when you actually need it. You've been through a heck of a lot over the last few years so I can understand how a funk could work its way in through one of your cracks and just get comfortable for a while. And I'm glad that you've been able to chase it away. emoticon

I've only gotten a little bit of what I want to get done on this vacation actually accomplished. Good thing there's a second week to it. emoticon I've been getting rest and working on a few of the little projects I've broken this whole apartment cleaning into but I've only got so much energy to use at one time so I'm never going to be able to get everything done that I want to do in one day. Oh well, one step at a time. Gail is my example of what can be done if I just do what I can do each day. I know that eventually I will get it all done. In reality I've actually got one year to get everything cleaned up, not just two weeks because I just went ahead and signed a new one year lease. In May I realized that I just wasn't going to be able to get things organized and move by the middle of next month so I made the decision to stay in this apartment for one more year so that I can organize all of my stuff and either throw away or donate as much of it as I can. (I just don't really have that much that I could sell.) I feel better about everything now that I've taken the burden of getting everything tidied up over my vacation off of my shoulders.

I hope that everyone has been having a great week.

There was much rejoicing!

Dear Friends:

I finally came out of my funk yesterday and do realize clearly that a move to a retirement continuum is just not for me at this stage in my life. I'm going to get my home re-floored, and with all of the furniture gone there will be a good deal of empty space. I think I'll get a Murphy Bed, and have it on the first floor. I've seen many and they are really beautiful. If the time comes when I cannot negotiate the steps up to the second floor I'll have a place to stay on the first floor. I'm also thinking of installing a stall shower on the first floor for such an eventuality. There should be room if I knock out part of the powder room wall and have the shower put in the adjacent utility room. There's plenty of space and the plumbing is already there from the toilet and washing machine.

I had a glorious day yesterday sitting on my back porch reading. If the weather is good I'll try to get out there again today. I have some errands to run.

Sending you all many hugs and thanking you for all your support.

Gail

Gail, feel free to go on all you like. That's a part of what we're here for.

I haven't been sleeping well since last week so I'm really tired today and have not accomplished any of the things I want to get done. But I don't have to go back to work until 2 weeks from today so I'm sure I can manage something before I have to go back...

I think for now I'm just going to concentrate on eating my dinner and getting to bed early so that I (hopefully) won't feel so darn groggy all day tomorrow. I hope you all have a fantastic Wednesday. emoticon

Darla hope the cleaning went well and you got there and back in a minimum amount of time. I have to go every 4 mo for my cleaning and don't enjoy it but have improved things in my mouth and if I can keep things healthy in there then it is worth the price. Luckily they only charge $65 for my cleaning so it is manageable. Part of this is my fault for neglecting my teeth for several years (I went once a year, but that just wasn't enough!). Now I am paying the price.
Gail it sounds like this is something you simply are not ready for so I would put it on hold and maybe continue to check out alternatives for "down the road" so you will have the hard work done WHEN and IF you want/need to make a move. My dad lived on his own till he was 97! He did well till the last year or so and finally admitted he needed help which is when I stepped in.
I have done chores around home today after my walk. I helped Bill deliver the paper on our water quality to the residents and we are down to about 25 to go. Had to stop as even riding in the golf cart to deliver them we were dripping!
Today in our monthly bonfire by the lake and I volunteered to make the baked beans so I got them mixed up and into the crock pot this morning. I also made a batch of brownies for dessert for everyone. I am trying to get these items used up and out of my pantry. I used to make a lot more desserts for activities for the community but backed off this year. I should have things used up by fall and then will not purchase more unless I plan to bake for an event. We have a 4th of July dinner so will use up something else then!!!
The heat has really moved in and staying in after 11 has become my main focus. I am looking forward to some cooler temps in a few weeks. (Please don't get hot up north!!!)

Hello Everyone!

I am just waiting for the van to pick me up to take me to my dentist appointment to get my bottem teeth cleaned. That will take most of the afternoon and not sure when I will get home. Hopefully they are not busy today with the van so I get there and back quick. I set my alarm wrong yesterday and had it set on pm instead of am so it went off like it was suppose to today! I am glad !

Gail you have to do what is right for you no matter what that is! I like living by myself just fine too! I have lived alone the last 14 years since my kids have grown up and left home. And I don't mind. I am like you if I have my computer, tv and books then I am a happy camper! I think if you can live on your own as long as possible then that is great! My aunt who will be 88 in August still lives by herself in her house and she is doing good1 And all my other uncles and aunts live alone too who are in their 80's . I think it is different now. If you can live on your own and like that then that is what you should do! Good luck no matter what you decide!

hope everyone has a great week!

Darla

I definitely understand where you are coming from.

Our families are looking for ways to make it easier for us, however,
they do not realize most of us are content.

Also sometimes just being in different living conditions, with all sorts
of people in different stages of their lives, can be be very depressing.

I myself feel if we can live and stay where we were happy, is still the best.

Naturally all to their own, Nan

Good Morning:

Well, the senior campus I visited was very expensive but also very nice. The campus has independent living apartments, an assisted living facility, and a skilled nursing home. There are all sorts of facilities, groups, and activities, and the apartments have nice finishes: granite counters, stainless appliances, wood floor in living room, etc, BUT the people that I saw about were older and infirm. I mentioned this to the marketing person who was showing me around. She said the ones that were like me were out and about. I just don't know. I think I'm too young and too fit for this right now. She was really touting the activities and interest groups, but what my family and friends don't understand is that I'm happy in my own skin and am not looking for companionship or a way to pass time. I love being by myself. Give me a sunny spot with a nice view, some books, my computer and TV and I'm a happy camper. I don't enjoy social activities much any more, though I'm always up for a good conversation, dealing with people on a one to one basis and cultivating or maintaining meaningful relationships. I think being a caregiver for someone who needed so much care for so long took its toll on me. Add to that that my life has been so intense getting rid of Vic's stuff the past couple of years and it's understandable that I just want to be alone with few, if any, responsibilities to anyone but myself. My life has essentially been on hold for so long and I'm emotionally exhausted.

Sorry for going on like this and thank you all for your patience with me.

Gail

Gail I would look into all the senior living in your area-I know there are some down here I would not consider and others have lots of activities for their residents. We have one that is right on the lake and offers so much, but it is rather pricey. However, when one does pass away, the family gets the $$ back when the unit is resold. There are lots of options and you need to explore them all.
My great aunt moved into a senior living sponsored by the Presbyterian church in Bradenton, FL. When she first moved in, she lived in her own small apartment and got her meals in a cafeteria setting. They also offered larger units for couples and even duplexes on the gounds, then she moved into the assisted living part when she turned 102! Then she went to an area where the meals were served to the residents. At last, she was in the area where it was more like a nursing home as she fell and broke her hip and wasn't able to get around. But they accommodated her needs as they changed. I stayed with her overnite and they had a unit for guests that could be rented which was nice and we were able to purchase a meal there to share with her. So many things to explore but you don't have to rush so you can take your time and look and see if there is something out there that will suit you.
Darla sorry you missed your appointment. I find here the dr's frown on that and will charge a person if you don't give them 24 hours notice without it is an emergency. It keeps one accountable and helps the dr's manage their time also. Down here the dr's are booked solid so it can be hard to get a new appointment. I hope you invest in a new alarm clock if yours isn't working.
I was up before 6 to walk and at my desk at work by 8! Just 2 more days and I will be back to being "retired". It was a full day even though I didn't think it was going to be. I have some checks from residents that never arrived so was busy making calls about that. Then I had some people come in wanting to look at homes so had to take them around to see places that are for sale. Seems every day is a new challenge. However, I am enjoying it now that I pretty much know the system and where everything is.
We met our friends, Don & Lin for a late lunch as she had a dr's appointment at 3:30 and they will be heading north in the morning. They will be returning in September so it will roll around before we know it. We checked out the new Goodwill store on the way home and I picked up a pr of Bermuda shorts.
Have a lot I want to get done tomorrow so need to get my to-do list made up!

Sorry you feel so depressed about it Gail. But it can be a good thing! You would not have the hassle of a house and all that goes with that plus you would make new friends and have people to talk to all the time and they always have activities that are fun to do! I worked in a nursing home for a year and we always had lots of activities for to people and had people come in to speak and do things with the residents. And Senior living is much better than a nursing home! I hope you liked the one you toured.

I didn't make it to see my psychiatrist. I had forgot to call for ride in the van and set my alarm to get up in time to catch the bus and my alarm did not go off. I think my alarm clock is broke so I called them and canceled and they sent me to a nurse on the phone to call in my refills and didn't get her but left a voice mail twice. So hopefully she will get those called in and then I can cal back Thursday to reschedule. I think my regular psychiatrist Dr. King will be back from maternity leave by then and I would much rather see her.

I just got up so I have to fix me something to eat and get awake. I went back to sleep after I made the call this morning and just crashed. I have so much I do that when I do finally get the time to rest I usually end up sleeping a lot to catch up on my sleep.

Hope everyone had a good day!

Good Morning:

I have an appointment this morning to take a tour of a senior community downtown. Also, last night a friend suggested I look into one in a neighboring community about 3-4 miles away. I just went on the website of the second one and I thought to myself, the facility looks beautiful and it is new, but the people are really old and infirm. I'm nowhere near that. Well, maybe it was just the people in the pictures; I'll have to see for myself. Truthfully, it's very depressing.

I'm in a funk right now....

wow Dusty and Pat! You both grow some great food! I could never grow anything! lol I just don't have a green thumb and it always dies! My Dad could grow things really well but I never could. We had a garden one year when I was growing up but Dad had a hard time getting my brothers to help in it. I helped a lot but it was too hard for just me and him so we didn't do it again the next year.

Gail- Hope you get your floor fixed so you can relax again. I am sure it is frustrating. I have lived in rent houses that were a lot of work as me and my kids would sometimes do work on the houses for the landlord to take some of the rent off. Now I live in a one bedroom apt and the maintenance men are great about fixing things. I owned a trailer with my ex husband when we first got married but only had a year and we were young and still teenagers and just didn't keep up with the payments like we should. We were way to young to be owning a trailer. Not sure what my parents were thinking co signing for that when we were only 17 and 18 when we married. That is the only thing I have owned. I never had the money to buy another house and now my kids are grown and on their own I don't need a house.

Hope everyone has a good Monday! I am going to see my psychiatrist today so it I will be a all day thing as it is all the way across town . have a great day!

Gail I mostly do flowers. We do a couple of pots of tomatoes to eat and Bill dabbles with other things. We have grown an avocado tree from a seed and it is huge but so far we have not gotten any avocados from it. We were told that by growing it from seed it could take 7-10 years and sometimes never! Hoping in a couple more years we will actually get some to eat. He has some potatoes planted now (3 plants) and some cantaloupe that are blooming. We grew a watermelon last summer. However, the birds got it before we did!!!
Sorry you are stressing out over your flooring. I finally gave up trying to match the laminate in my family room and hardwood in the dining room and put in tile!!! I hate carpet down here-the sand tracks in and gets in the carpet so only have it in the bedrooms. We mostly take our shoes off as we come in BUT occasionally we don't and then .....sand!!!

Darla glad things are going well for you. Hope your appointments all go good this week.

Dusty and Sandy. I gardened for years, and loved it. Do you freeze stuff?

Pat. You only do flowers, right?

My daughter went with me to look at flooring. We thought we had the first floor done but when we brought the samples home they didn't work. One problem was that the colors looked different. This is so stressful for me.

Happy Sunday Everyone!

So Happy I made it to Sunday School and church today and Brent was there today! I got a hug and was so happy to see him! I write him emails during the week and sometimes he responds back! He is a great friend and had not been to church for a while so I was happy to see him and sat by him. It was great to see my other friends too at church. One of the women and her husband was surprised at church with her husbands son and daughter in law and grandbaby! We had been praying for the baby because she was born real early and only weighed 1 lb 1 oz and 11 inches long! She has been in the incubator until Tues and her mom and Dad surprised the grandparents and church by bringing her! She is still hooked up to a lot of tubes but just so precious! We talked about Gen. 14 today which includes a lot ot King's names and was so proud of our preacher for saying the names right and reading that! I had read it many times but never understood it until today!

My sister in law called yesterday and my brother is feeling great! he said he had a lot more energy now! and he was too onery to go anywhere! lol Glad he is okay. My niece his daughter called too to find out how he was and get his number. Hope she calls him.

My kids are doing great! My daughter in law has a degree in Nuclear Medicine but has never been able to find a job so she is taking a computer coding class and doing great! she has had one job offer already and her Dad has offered her some freelance work. so hopefully this will work out better. she has 5 more weeks to got. Chris my son has been getting over time at work which is great! he is a physical Therapy aid and loves it! Erin my daughter started her 10 well almost 11 years now at the car dealership in Arizona and is the boss of the Service Dept for a year now! They just deicded last year that anyone who worked 10 years or more can have 3 weeks paid vacation so she is happy about that. ! She is taking off a week in July to stay home with Maddie so I know they will have fun like they always do!

Hope everyone had a great day! I have a busy week this week with appointments every day or something! Tomorrow I go see a different psychiatrist than mine. I don't like him very well but the next time my psychiatrist will be back from maternity leave so I am glad! I have seen her for several years now.

Well take care everyone!

Darla

Rain came much earlier today than predicted. I got out very early to work as it was to get to 94 and the humidity was going to make it feel a lot hotter. I got done what I wanted to in the park, but not at home. Our sprinklers were still running so had to wait on that and then the rain started. However, I have just come in from getting that done so now, all my pruning is done at home-at least for a couple of weeks. Things grow so quickly down here it is a never ending job.
I put on a big pot of vegetable beef soup-it is cooking away in the crockpot. I also put in a loaf of basic bread in the breadmaker. Will share all this with others. I am wanting to use up the flour that was left over from my bread baking at Christmas. I fear it won't be good if I store it too long. Think people are going to be gifted with bread soon!

Hello Everyone!

Sounds like everyone has had a busy day ! I have too! I actually did not go to sleep last night and was awake so I made ti to Weight Watchers today for the meeting. not so good on the scale but the meeting always helps and gives me motivation! Then I had a man in my group drop me off to get my hair cut. She cut it way too short but it will grow back and it was way way too long and I was having a hard time taking care of it so now it will be much easier! Then I walked over to the bank and got some money for the last payment on Maddie's daycare! Erin has done a great job of figuring it all out so I paid 4 weeks and my ex husband paid 3 weeks and she came up with the rest! So happy the money was there! Then I walked over to Wal Mart and got a 1.50 double cheeseburger from mcdonalds and then went shopping for a few things. I did buy me some really cute summer pjs that are shorts and a top that are purple and pink flowers! It was only 8.97 for the whole set! Then I got few groceries and came home and took a nap! My sister in law called me while I was in weight watchers and my brother is doing great and says he has so much more energy now since he had his heart operation! So happy ! he said he was too onery to die yet! lol my niece his daughter also called me and decided to call her Dad! Hope that conversation went well. They saw each other 3 years ago at my Mom's funeral after not seeing each other for about 20 years! I have tried to encourage the relationship but my niece is pretty stubborn! So I was happy she was calling him today! Maybe this woke her up since he did almost die. His son wont' have anything at all to do with him. hate that! My ex husband hit me and cheated on me but I still never kept my kids away from him and just left it up to them if they wanted a relationship with him or not. And they do talk to him on the phone ocassionally. They mostly talk to me and spend time with me. They don't have the money to go anywhere. Well I am going to make me a late supper as that cheeseburger is all I have had today. Hope everyone has a good night and great day tomorrow!

oh, today was my family reunion but I don't have a car so I was not able to go but m y cousin Glenda put pictures on my facebook page of the reunion! Sure was glad to see my older relatives looking so good in their late 80's! hopefully next year I will be able to go and have a car by then!

Have a good night!

Darla

Sandy glad to hear you are getting to enjoy your family. It is always nice to do that, even for short visits.

Dusty hope you get to feeling better soon. Good for DH for helping out.

Gail-please take care of yourself and get lots of rest. Maybe check in with the dr to see if there is anything that can be done to help you.

We did some work at home today-spent 2 hours trimming the shrubs in front of our house. It takes longer to put down sheets to catch the trimmings and then dump them and move again than the actual trimming. Sure got a workout doing all that. I would trim one side and DH the other and then I would pick up and do the finish work with my hand clippers. Cut them a bit short but they grow quickly so it isn't a problem. By the time we finished and hauled it all to the dumpster it was about 11. We wiped ourselves down with a cool cloth and then headed off to the library to return my book and to the store to pick up some cabbage so I can make vegetable beef soup tomorrow. I have some leftover roast so going to use that in the soup.

Hot and humid down here-WELCOME SUMMER!

Good Morning...
Thank you for the Teddy Bear Hug.
Today , I am gong to point and have dh plant my veggies in the garden...they are currently in pots due to my inactive state (rib cage injury) Yesterday I did hang the laundry on the clothesline. DH carried the wet laundry upstairs and outdoors to the clothesline for me.

Good Morning:

I awoke at 2am with the worst pain in my left arm. Lying on my back or side didn't help. Doing nothing didn't help. By 2:15 I was in such pain I took 3 ibuprofen. The pain barely abated, but it was just enough for me to get dressed and go to the gym. The hot tub is heat therapy for arthritis. After 15 minutes I felt much better. I went to the supermarket and picked up a bunch of things that wouldn't require me to cook or move much. Now I can move my arm, but it still hurts. I'll take two ibuprofen at 8-8:30 AM. What an experience!

Going to take it easy today and hope to get in a good long nap.

Enjoy the weekend.

Had a good day-work went well today. Just 3 more working days till I am done. I have a big project that is going to take most of one of those days so that is good. I discovered a problem today-it appears some checks are missing. I went thru the books today to see who had not paid their monthly fees and the president hadn't! Well he showed me where the bank cut the check on 5/23 but it never got to the office. I think possibly the same thing happened with some others too. I am wondering if the mail was lost OR if a substitute mailman put it in the wrong box!? Since so many people are gone if it was put in a box where no one is here, I won't know about it till they return!!! Guess next week I will call some other people to see about their checks. If they mailed them & I didn't receive them then we have a problem.
I finished my novel this afternoon. So glad as now I can drop it off at the library this weekend. I want to go to the store to get some cabbage and I am going to make a big pot of vegetable soup with some of that roast beef. I will share it with Bruce and Carol. I will also give some to Joe (the man who gave us the meat).
I plan to do yard work at home and some more in the park. I have a week to get things caught up before Vicky returns. I would hate for her to feel like she can't take a vacation and then have to come back and jump in immediately. She will have it all while we are gone for almost 3 weeks.
Pat

Val-Enjoy the 2 weeks off. Have some fun too.

Darla- glad to hear your brother is home. Hope his recovery is speedy.

Sandy-I bet you will be busy with B-I-L there but I also bet it will be a fun time.

Hello Everyone!
Well it is Friday the beginning of the weekend! I am sure those of you that work are happy it is Friday and looking forward to the weekend. I always like the weekend too!

Sandy- Thanks for asking about my brother. He is home and recovering! He has to be off of work for a few weeks and the have to learn to eat different but we all need to do that for our hearts! It really shook me up and I have cried a lot for some reason. I think it may be because he is not overweight and has never had any kind of major health problem and I have had a lot of health problems so it does scare me to that I could have a heart attack or stroke like my mom did. I do have a cardiologist appointment July 21 or 27 I wrote it down so I am anxious to have that appointment and see what he says about me.

I was just watching Ellen and she was showing a clip of a cameraman taking a video of a couple talking about their horse and they were in a barn and behind the cameraman was another horse that kept eating at his ear and neck and finally just ate on the back of his shirt! lol It was so funny! He was trying to make the film and be quiet but the horse wouldn't leave him alone! lol Animals are so funny!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Darla

Dusty - I'm sorry about your ear infection. I hope you start feeling better soon

Pat - I'm sorry glad that Bill is feeling better that is can help you around the the house a little.

Val - I'm glad that you are getting 2 weeks off you have been working so hard.

Darla - I hope that your brother is doing better. Proud of all that you have done.

Gail - You are a busy one. I hope that you get your A/C soon.

Sheryl - What are you up to?

Today we meet with my Cousin, Aunt and Uncle for dinner. We are still trying to get the extra truck in working order for BIL to take but, the old owner didn't do all the paperwork as I thought. So we have to get a special permit for him to drive it back to California, if we can get that. While we were trying to get it register the guys got a ticket for expired tags. The officer was really nice so didn't give them as large of a ticket as he could have or take the truck away.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Dusty, I'm so sorry to hear about your infection. That really stinks. emoticon Could you please try to send me some of your rain for my birthday? It would make me awfully happy. emoticon

2 more days of work and then I'm off for 2 weeks. emoticon Wish I could go visit my parents over my vacation, but the Southern Arizona heat almost killed me when I went there for my birthday a couple of years ago. I think I'll go visit them in the fall when it's not so doggone hot.

I really did a number on my right hand yesterday so I need to stop typing for now and go to bed, or at least rest it. I'll let you all know how Operation Tidy Apartment goes over the next two weeks. Everyone have a fabulous Friday. emoticon

Since I didn't have to work today, after my walk, I gave Abbie a bath and then I went to work in the park gardens for a couple of hours. With Vicky gone, it is all on me so trying to keep up is not easy but I made a lot of headway this morning. While I was gone, Bill did 2 loads of laundry for me and then worked on cleaning out our fountain. It had gotten all moldy in the water so he scraped all that off. Once it is all cleaned out, we will refill it and I will add some Clorox to the water in hopes it will keep it at bay, at least for a bit.
I sprayed the weeds in our rocks when I got home and then I called it quits for the day as it was noon and getting too hot to work outside. After a nice cooling shower, I got to watch the noon news as Bill put it on hold for me. Then I took a break this afternoon and read the newspapers, a magazine and several chapters in my novel. I only have 75 pages left so should easily finish it this weekend.
Gail, Bill has started helping more around the house now that he is feeling better. As far as paying the bills, his eyesight is not good enough for that. I even had him call the gastro doc to try to get the results. He has made 3 calls and still nothing. They keep saying they will call back. If we don't hear anything tomorrow then next week they are going to get a visit from a very irate wife of a patient!! This is unacceptable in my book. They did not schedule a follow up appointment and won't tell us anything. Well, they want to be paid for the test and the results should be given out to the patient. I want them because we plan to go north in about a month and IF he should have another GI bleed then I want to have the records with me. I learned the hard way when he had one in Ft. Meyers that one needs to have your medical records with you as the drs and hospital here weren't giving them answers so they had to run everything before they could treat him. If I have the records with me, then they have something to go on!
Our next trip is to Michigan - we are spending a week with our friends Betty & Boyd and I am praying it is cooler up there!! Then we have about a week to "kill" before my family reunion in ILL and then we will head home. All this depends on Bill's health of course.

Hello Again!

Dusty so sorry to hear that! That sounds so painful! Bless your heart! I hope they gave you some good medicine and you will feel better soon! I am sure those weeds weren't so great to pull! They have so much allergies in them! I have a tree in front of my apt and man when it starts blooming my allergies kick in! Sounds like you might have been allergic to something in some them! Feel better soon!

I made It pretty fast to and back from my dr office and had the woman on the way back got thru the drive thru so I could grab a diet dr pepper and something for lucnch well late supper I guess. So that was good! Glad to be back home and my daughter text me and she is working two extra hours today to try and get caught up on some things. There are only her and two other women in her service dept and one of them is on vacation for this week so it has been pretty crazy all week for Erin ! hopefully she got caught up some today.

Hope everyone had a good day!

Darla

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Good Morning everyone!

Gail so sorry you have to get a new air conditioner but you will be surprised how well the new ones work. I don't know if I said or not but I have a window unit in my living room and last summer it quit working and they had been in to fix it lots of times and I told them I needed a new one so they finally put in a new one last summer and man the difference! I can feel it all over my one bedroom apt now! It makes a huge difference to have a new unit!
Hope you are okay until then! That is great you have thinking of volunteering some places in your town! Everyone keeps telling me I need to do that but I Have so many doctor appointments and appointments with caseworkers that I just love it when I have a day I have nothing to do and can just read and realax and or watch tv or be on my computer! I have done a lot of work in churches I went to and enyed it but they seem to have everything covered in our church so I just enjoy going to the Women's bible studies, Womens activities Sunday School and church and all of that keeps me pretty busy!

I just got a new phone and have been playing on it especially the apps and found heart radio on it. It is so cool! You just put in the preferences to the kind of music you listen to and they will bring up the stations in your area to listen to! I had bought a small cd/radio but could never get any of the radio station in very good and kept looking for a Christian radio like KLOVE and they had it on there! So now it is very clear and on my phone so I can listen to it whenever I want! It has oldies , country , classical , jazz just about any kind of music you like to listen to. if you have a smart phone you will proully have it in your app store. the app is a big heart! So happy I can listen to my Christian music again! So up beat and keeps me going!

My daughter Erin calls me every day and my son calls me once a week sometimes more. He doesn't like to talk on the phone very much and my brothers don't either so I am glad my daughter calls me every day so I know someone is checking on me! I called every day and checked my Mom too while she was alive. my brothers werent' and she had my step dad but I still wanted to know myself she was okay . I know my daughter is like that about me too although I wish she would not worry about me so much. But that is what daughters do I worried about my mom too much too! I do go out to eat with my son occassionaly when he has time and sometimes my daughter in law comes and sometimes it is just me and Chris so that is fun. Chris lives here in San Antonio but Erin lives in Arizona so she has to cal me but I am glad she does since Chris don't as much. They both love me a lot! I raised both of them by myself since they were 2 and 3 years old! my ex husband was always with another women even when he was still married to me and I finally divorced him. And he was hitting me so it was better for me and for my kids for us to not be around him much and we still are not. They talk to him on the phone but they don't have the money to go see him or come see me. I either go see Erin or if I have the money I fly her and Maddie to see me. I need to try to get her to San Antonio sometime but don't know when.

Hope everyone has a Great Thursday! I see my counselor today and glad to be getting out of the apt today!

Darla

Good Morning:

Well, I need a new air conditioner, but I'm not upset. It was about time and I was going to call to get one when I returned from Iceland. The old one lasted 36 years and we never had maintenance on it. The new ones aren't built the way the old ones were and require maintenance every two years. But it should last about 20 years and be very much more efficient. The HVAC company has a few weeks backlog, but they moved me up and will install it next week since I don't have anything operational right now. I should be all right till then. The temps will go down to the 60s at night and get to the high 70s- low 80s this week and next.

I am almost done unpacking, doing a little at a time. Yesterday I deadheaded my outdoor plantings when the rain stopped and picked up the twigs and branches all over the yard. If there is some dry time today I'll weed a bit. Actually, I have very few weeds in my plantings because I have a lot of wood chips or rocks in the planting beds. Still it's a nuisance. Everything looks so good now and the lawn has never looked better...so lush with all the rain in the past couple of days. It's going to rain again today and there are scattered showers in the forecast for the next several days ahead. It will be a good time to sit down with a good book. Well, you know me; anytime is a good time to read. LOL Let's see if I can get my butt out of here once a day to the gym. That will be a challenge.

Hoping you all have a great Thursday.

Gail

Sandy: You know, it's really wonderful that your BIL comes so often and helps so much. Sounds like your and your DH really get on well with him. Very inspiring at a time when so many family members seem to be at odds with each other.

Pat: Do you always do all the bills? Is Bill able to handle some chores or responsibilities? Vic used to write the bills, mow, shovel, and fix things. But when he became ill absolutely everything was on me, and, in addition, I had to take him to medical appointments and do things he used to do. How is Bill doing these days? Is he a bit better? BTW, where is your next trip?

Dusty: SO SORRY YOU OVERDID IT. I THINK SO OFTEN WE DON'T WANT TO BE ILL AND SO WE OVEREXTEND OURSELVES, ONLY TO REGRESS. REST UP, DEAR FRIEND, AND BE GOOD TO YOURSELF.

Nan: What have you been up to? I meant to ask you, do you volunteer in your church or town? Once I get my house in order I'll be going back to volunteering, probably for hospice at their thrift shop. I might also go back to the ROAD TO RECOVERY program, driving cancer patients to their medical appointments.

Darla: It's great that Erin checks up on you. So good when somebody cares. Enjoy the parade on TV. I'm with you. Who needs crowds?

Val: Keep track and let us know your daily progress with the big clean up.

Hello everyone!
Dusty-Sure hope you get to feeling better soon! I know it is a lot of hard work to work in a garden hopefully you can take a break for while and get to feeling better.

Gail- Hope you can get a refund on your trip! Sorry it was not like you wanted it to be. Hopefully they will listen and refund your money some.

Val- sounds like you have some great plans for your birthday two weeks off! I need to do the same thing which I am working on with my apt too! Sounds like you will have a good time with your friends too! Hope you have a great two weeks off!

I am fixing to watch the River Parade and then the celebration at the Aladome for the Spurs! I am watching it all on TV! I was not about to try to go either place and fight those crowds! There are a lot of people along the river and the aladome holds 65,000 people! So it will be packed! Fun to watch on TV since this is their 5th championship! Then tomorrow they will all be going to their homes!

Well Erin will be callng me soon! I have such a sweet daughter for her to call me every day on her way home from work! She just likes to check on me! She is a sweetie!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Darla

Dusty those nasty little weeds call my name too. I try to ignore them but they just won't let me. I pull them and say, "Die, you little dastardly thing, just die and leave me alone".
Hope you continue to improve. I am sure you will if you can stay out of the gardens for a bit.

Valerie you vacation sounds like work, BUT it will all be so nice when it is done. Clutter drives me crazy. Dear DH thinks I pitch way too much but if I didn't, our house would be overflowing. Simple and minimal is my motto! Nice your friends are going to take you out. Dinner would be my preference over drinks!

Gail do you not have a/c or is it broken that you are sweltering in the heat? Seems it is either HOT or COLD and no welcome middle ground anymore. Hope you are able to get some of your money back. You go get them!

Sandy nice that DH's brother is there to visit and they got to go play golf today. I know it is nice to have a break from work, work, work. By the time I really get into the swing of things, Sharon is going to be back! Just 4 more working days for me!!

I did my early morning walk and then off to work by 8 and was busy till I came home at 12! I thought I might get out of there early but it was not to be. Oh well, I plan to use the $$ I make to pay for our gas for our trip in July.
I have done some of our personal bill paying this afternoon and balanced my checkbook! It was just too hot to go outside and work in the gardens. I will attempt that tomorrow.

emoticon I felt a little better on Sunday so I thought I would weed...bad idea...Monday I hurt and Tuesday I was even worse so today I am no going near the gardens or even outside as I KNOW I will think I can pick just a couple weeds and my body isn't being forgiving right now. Feeling very tired and can't take a deep breath as it keeps catching and then the pain

taking it easy...made a casserole, some cucumbers & sour cream, and tuna melts on Good Bye Gluten Bread, cleaned the kitchen up now going to take a nap.

Gail - glad that you are back.

Well, BIL got in yesterday. DH was able to go with me yesterday and was able to have the day off today as there was a lot work. So, DH and BIL went golfing today. good to have him relaxing for once. The business is starting to slow down a little but, Thursday and Friday's are still crazy. Friday we are meeting my cousin at the Red Robin with my Aunt and Uncle.

I was able to catch up on the books for the business yesterday and start on the end of the month invoices.

Hope that everyone's week is going good.
