Good Evening;

Well, I'm all packed and set to go. My sil is taking me to the airport tomorrow, and boy, do I need to get away.

The past few weeks I continued to work fast and furiously. I prepared for the auction that ended this evening. This past weekend I sold a vintage wagon to a man who came to service my furnace. (Nothing wrong with the furnace, just regular maintenance.) He came by with his wife and little boy and that child just loved sitting in the wagon and being pulled around.
I also went through photographs and had people come by to buy music scores. In between I continued to pack books that I am donating to the library, and music that I am selling on the auction. Today I gathered some broken gold bracelets and vintage watches and brought them to sell to the coin/jewelry store. Finally, the volunteer from hospice came and left with a carload of things. My home is clearing out.

I think I may have a furniture garage sale in May or early June. I've got shelving, bookcases, cabinets, file cabinets, at least one or two desks and vintage china cupboards. (My in-laws used to use china cupboards as bookcases.) If all this sounds exhausting, it is, not just from a physical standpoint but also from an emotional standpoint. Both my garbage and recycle bins are full...overflowing..a good indication of all that I've done in just the past two weeks.

Sending you all hugs and I'll try to stay in touch while I'm away.

Gail

Darla so sorry about this but better to find out now instead of later on. There are just too many people out there scamming folks. It is scary. I had a friend who met a guy who after a couple of dates she knew he was not right for her and she broke it off and then he started stalking her. He broke into her house, threatened her at her work, and many more things. She finally got a restraining order against him and managed to get him to quit all his harassment but it took her a long time so be careful and check these guys out if you don't know them,
It was another busy day down south. Up to walk and then after breakfast worked in another garden to prune the liriope. I got it half done and hope to finish it up tomorrow-I just didn't meet my goal of getting it all done by the 31st!
I had to stop to take Abbie to the groomer at 11 and then met up with Vicky and we went to do our shopping at W-Mart. I love that now they match other stores ads. I had CVS ad where you could buy one bottle of Whisk laundry detergent and you would get 2 free. I paid $3.97 for the one and had 2-$1.50 coupons so got the 3 for only 97 cents! I got other BOGO items and felt I saved quite a bit today.
By the time we got back home (we also stopped for lunch and a visit to Rural King) it was already 3:30. We got it all carted in and put away and then I headed off to pick up Abbie. She is shorter than I like but it grows out quickly so it will be fine.
It will be another full day tomorrow. Darla I seem to do best when I stay busy-it helps to keep me from eating emoticon

Thank you Darla I am doing very well. The Spring 5% challenge starts Saturday, I am excited to begin. I am curious what method do you all use for weight loss and exercise? I am a hiker and practice yoga. I cook Vegan 3 times a week and watch my sugar/carb intake.

Hello Everyone,
Well had a hard day yesterday when I talked to my son and found out he had done some research on Jeffrey and found out he had been scamming women and found almost an identlcal email to another woman that he first wrote to me and in it he was an only child both parents dead and wife dead and no daughter. with me both parents were dead, wife was dead but he had sister and daughgter. I had caught him in a few other lies too so my son wrote him and told him he was turning him into the police and I texted him and said don't text or call anymore and I was calling the police. I cried all night and slept all day and finally got up and got something to eat. I had several friends feeling it was a scam too. So I am just going to start focusing more on my church activities and weight watchers and saving for a car and brining my daughter and granddaughter down here this summer. I had a real good tearful onversation with my son and my daughter. I told them I felt like they really just wanted me with their dad and would never accept anyone else but both of them assured me they never wanted me back with their dad and wanted me to find someone else and my son said he would work harder and trying to see me and spend more times with me. They are such sweet good kids and I couldn't do without them. They are both very protective of me as much as I am of them. my ex husband was never there . We rarily see him. He goes years without contacting any of us and never goes to see my kids . So it is really just me and them but we have a lot of fun when we do get to spend time together. They are just grown up now and don't need me as much. Hard when they grow up and leave home!

Sandy- So happy your husband is doing so well and your business is going so well! You have worked really hard at that and I am glad it is all coming together for you! Great job!

Gail- Hope you get to feeling really good soon. Sorry you have felt so bad. Good you have got out and gone to library.

Pat- Hope your husband feels better soon. I don't know how you keep up with all you do every day! You have a lot more energy to do things than I do!

Hope everyone else is doing good. Have a good night!

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Sandy glad to hear that things are falling into place and your DH is doing good. I am sure it is a good feeling to work together and grown a business.
Gail good to hear you are feeling better. Hope you were able to get all your errands done.
We had rain pretty much all night and got about an inch. It quit about 6 am and we were able to head out to a few community yard sales with Vicky & Sonny. We both managed to find a few items but I think everyone had the same idea today-it was really crowded at both and hard to really see items because one could not get up to the tables!
It started to rain again about 11:30 (as we were at the last sale we planned to attend) and everyone was putting their wares up. Vicky did find a nice pr of shorts for one of her granddaughters for $1.
After eating a bite of lunch, we went over to their house to play cards since it was raining and not able to get out and do anything. The ladies won both games. After that it was home so DH could get a nap since he did not sleep well last night.

Hi Everyone! You all have been busy. Gail I hope you start feeling better soon. Pat, I am sure you will get your triglycerides back down. It has been usually weather this winter and cold. So I don't blame you for not going out some day to walk.

Well, DH has been doing really well and has caught on to the job very fast. He is sore and tired by the time he gets home. But, I have dinner waiting. He is much happier now. I also have my girlfriends son helping us on the weekends when he is home from school and then this summer he will help out more. I am still trying to get another driver but, that is not easy as I talk to each person. Took my SIL to the airport yesterday.Sad to see she go but knew she had to get home and take of business. BIL will be here soon so need to get ready. Trying now just to catch up on the things I need to as far as the house cleaning. My SIL helped a lot but, there is always something to do. I am hoping to get a few things on Ebay soon that I have laying around - Hopefully. It has been a long week as I had fires to put do to the old owner but, by the end of this week DH and I had did it and the Phone and E-mails got quite. It went back to business as usually. We changed the voice mail on the answer machine and just let them listen to the New voice message on the machine. I also talked to most of the Branch managers and they talked to their Agents which in turned helped.Plus the old owner finally has turned off his fax machine, put our number on his number and said the We are the New owners and so on. So, things are starting to look up and have finally turned a corner. emoticon

Well, I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend! I am going to see a friend play in a concert this weekend and just hang out with DH and watch the rain. Hugs and much love to you all. Thank you for all the support my Friends! emoticon emoticon

Hi:

Feeling better though not quite 100%. Have to go to the accountant's this morning to sign the tax forms and need to make a trip to the library. Will try to make the gym too; hope I'm up to it.

Have any of you ever been afraid to get on the scale? My clothes are fine, in fact, some fit better than they have in the past, but I haven't been on the scale for a few weeks and I'm afraid to get on. I've been away from gluten and sugar, except for the little gluten and sugar in salad dressing and mayo, but I don't use those every day and don't use much. It's the same as it has been since I went off.

Going back to bed now.

Cheers,

Gail

DH & I were both up by 7 am. I got out for my walk by 7:30 and he and Sonny took a spin around the park at 8 am. Started out a little cool and I had on a light jacket, but was feeling a bit warm by the time I got home a couple minutes after 9!

We had dr appointments at 9:30 so had to get our walk in early or forget it. Had a bite of breakfast and DH took Abbie out to do her thing and it was time to head out. We love our internist but it is always a long visit when one goes to see him. We didn't get out of the office until almost 11. He got held up at the hospital so that put him behind. There were 3 people ahead of us and then he spent about 30 min with us. He always takes his time and never rushes you so that means he is never on schedule! We know that and plan accordingly-I take a book to read and Bill dozes! My triglycerides had climbed above 150 so he said work on diet and exercise more (I have not been as good with my walking with the cold weather so hoping that is the reason). It was 167 so not horrible but I was down below 150 in Dec so want to get it back down! Otherwise all my labs were good. DH was another story! However we did get his potassium level up after the call last week. I guess feeding him the bananas, raisins and apricots did the trick. His TSH level was too low so he changed the strength of his levothyroxine but until the new meds arrive he said to keep taking the higher doseage pill. He is anemic so in addition to his iron he is already taking, he has to take B12 and get that rechecked in 2 weeks and if it isn't up then, he will get a shot. He also doubled the strength of his Effexor (nerve pill-I call it his chill pill!). Since DH has been having pain in his neck and head, he sent him for x-rays. Not sure if it is anything more than arthritis and not sure if there is anything that can be done. He can't take Celebrex or alleve because of his kidneys. For now he is taking Tylenol when it gets too bad. Just before we went north, it was hurting pretty bad and felt hot to the touch so he took one of his gout pills which is an anti-inflammatory and it did help but he is not to take them very often so haven't done that again.

We went to Lake Imaging when we left the dr's office and got the x-rays done so we didn't have to make another trip up there as we go right by the imaging center on our way from the dr.

It was after noon when we got back home. While I waited on DH, I had called Vicky to see about putting out the Easter decorations when I got back and she said she had already done it! That was nice, one less thing on my to do list. We do like to do a bit to decorate the park for the major holidays. We had time for a bite of lunch before our financial guy got here at 1. We needed to get some $$ to pay for our windows so he took care of the paperwork for that. The check should arrive well before the windows are installed!!

I finished cooking the roast and all the trimmings that I had started yesterday afternoon and that was our supper. It turned out fine even though I had partially cooked it yesterday and then put it in the refrigerator. We have enough for at least one more meal and possibly 2. Since DH is anemic, he is going to have to eat more meat-we watch his consumption because of his kidneys-such a fine line we have to deal with.

So far no rain here today but they say should have some later tonight-will see if that happens. It has been mild and think we hit about 76 this afternoon so have been able to open the windows and the doors and let the air flow thru.

Gail-Hope you caught the cold in time and don't get down. Soon it will be warm and a spring cold to me is worse than one in winter.

Darla- hope things go good for you at the sleep study and you find that things are improving. Glad to hear you are sleeping better now.

Val-I had let my hair go back to it's natural color and let the gray give me natural highlights but gave in and colored it for the GD's wedding so now I have to grow it out again! Never an easy decision is it.

Hello Everyone,
I am leaving in a little while to go to another sleep study this time with my new cpap machine and I am sure my sleep apnea has improved since I have been sleeping all night. I was staying up late at night and sleeping late in the day but since I met Jeffrey I have been going to bed early because he text me every morning before he goes to work so I hear the beep on my phone and he says Good Morning babe! nIce to wake up that way plus i get up and stay up so I am able to get things done during the day.

They will wake me up early tomorrow so when I get home off the bus then I can get some laundry done and work on getting my apt cleaned up tomorrow and Sunday.

Well I hope everyone has a good night and weekend! Happy Friday! emoticon

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Coming down with a cold so I need to stave it off. Going to drink lots of tea and take a benedryl.

Found out that since I didn't have my donations appraised I cannot claim all of them without inviting an audit from the IRS. Life is too short. It's not worth the aggravation. As it is I'm getting back a lot so.....

Catch you all later.

There is a mostly organic hair dye on the market now. I do not know if you can buy over the counter yet. My hairdresser who uses only organics was telling a patron about it while I was there getting a cut.
When I was in high school, I played with the color of my hair so much I had knots all over my scalp. the doctor told me how dangerous it was and I have not colored my hair since. Of course I am a product of the 60's and 70's so my thoughts always turn to natural and the least destructive path.

Even if I try this new hair dye I'll probably go back to more or less my natural color after that one starts to grow out. Dying it is a pain in the fanny but every 20 years or so I end up doing it. (Don't know if I'll still want to do it when I'm 70...) I've got one brunette kit to use whenever I'm really done being a redhead this time. emoticon

I don't know if I've told you guys that our awful boss left a few weeks ago, or that our interim boss is someone I've worked with before and is nice to have for now. It's been really nice having someone I like and respect to deal with right now. Sooner or later they'll give us another boss chosen by the company, but I'm really liking the situation right now. Well, other than the fact that the analyzer that I'm in charge of has been real pill since Sunday. Service has been at our lab every day except Tuesday, I think, and it's still not working full time. I'm going to have so much fun tomorrow and Friday...

Our temperature is supposed to get down to 42 degrees tonight. emoticon emoticon I hope that the rest of you are surviving this year's winter masquerading as spring. I think that some of you may still have some snow and I hope that it leaves you very soon. Really, when you start saying that spring has arrived, the polite thing would be to hide the darn snow, don't you think? Anyone who still has snow should come to New Mexico or Arizona until it finally melts off for good. I hope you all have a fabulous Friday. emoticon

I got out to walk by 8 am and it was a bit nippy out there. I managed to get in about 6K steps before coming home. I needed to get my shower and eat breakfast so I could take the car to Toyota at 10. They told me it would likely take 2 hours so I had Vicky come & pick me up and bring me home. It is only a couple miles from home and if it had been a nice day, I could have walked, but it was spitting rain off and on so opted to get a ride. I got my ironing caught up today and Bill did another load of laundry for me. I also cleaned up a concrete statue someone left in our carport while I was gone. It had mold on it so hoping that will work on cleaning it up so it can be painted. I haven't gone out to check it since it dried.
I was in the middle of cooking a roast when Sonny called and invited us to go to Outback. We had a nice dinner there - even better for them. They messed up Sonny's dinner so his was free!!! When we got back, they came in and we picked dates for our 2 mini trips. We will go for a couple days down near Sarasota to Myakka River State Park to do the skywalk and a boat ride on the lake to see all the alligators-they are abundant there. Then at the end of the month we will return to the Panhandle for 6-7 days. We will have some beach time hopefully on both trips.

Hello Everyone,
Val- Glad your kitty is feeling better. I understand about the hair color. I go to a beauty school to get mine done and it is $15 for hair color and $5 for them to cut it. It is students that do it but it is cheaper than going somewhere else. I use to try to color it myself but it never came out right so that's how I do it now.

Well I am leaving at 1 on the bus to go to the Rehabilitative center to meet with my counselor about finding me a part time job I can do. So I am excited about that. I was not real sure what Jeffrey did for a living because I was not familiar with a civil engineer but he works on infrastructures and makes a lot of money doing it. I am just poor and my kids are too! I just hope he wants to keep dating me now that he knows I am poor. Even if I worked full time as a social worker like I have in the past I still only make 2000 a month where with my disabitly and a part time job I make almost that too plus my back child support puts me over that even so I do really well on my own. But it is really nice having a sweet guy like Jeffrey in my life! I have prayed a lot about it and I think God has brought me a good Christian man that is very sweet!

my kids are doing good. my daughter and her boyfriend broke up and she is sad about that. But he lives in tx and her in Arizona just made it a hard relationship to have. So maybe she will someday meet someone in Arizona. She really wants to get married and have more kids.

Well hope everyone has a great day! Darla

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Val: If you can swing the cost of the new hair color go for it. The worst that could happen is that you go back to your old brand. The only thing to consider is that if you do like it will you be able to swing the costs every month to keep it up? Perhaps there is a shade in your current brand that approximates the more costly one.

Kitty is doing much better. She didn't barf this morning and I don't think she did it yesterday, either. emoticon This emoticon is pretty much what she looks like.

I belong to a team that I think is called crock pot cooking and recipes, something like that. I love some of their ideas. Did you know that you can make yogurt in your slow cooker? I've never tried it but I'm definitely going to.

I've really been agonizing over whether or not I should spend $25 to try a different kind of hair color that doesn't use ammonia and is supposed to be "3 dimensional color." I usually spend under $10 for hair color from Avon, which looks okay, but I'm kind of tired of coloring my hair and was planning on going back to being a brunette the next time I get dark roots. I'd kind of like to try this stuff but I'm tired of the dealing with the whole dye process. I guess I should be happy that I don't have any more pressing issues going on in my life than whether or not to stay a redhead for a while longer? emoticon

I'm going to be truly evil and tell you all that our low temperature overnight is going to be super cold, all the way down to 41 degrees! It's not getting too much warmer than that in the afternoons these days, and it's been quite a while since we got down to freezing and below. But I'm so, so happy that we're done with that part of winter and I wish that I could send all of you up north the spring weather we've been having. emoticon

I hope you're all having a great week. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Glad to be home and getting back into the swing here. Today was our usual Wed. breakfast group. We had 12 today and soon some will be going back north and we will quit the breakfasts until fall.
DH had to have blood drawn today so got that taken care of. Hate to go when we don't have an appointment. Took over an hour there!
I set up an appointment for the car tomorrow, Abbie for grooming on Mon and a luncheon date for Apr 3. Even gave Abbie a bath today and have been combing the mats out-Vicky didn't do a lot of brushing as she fought her.
Went to the grocery store and got the essentials so now we have something to eat.

Hello Everyone!
Pat- So happy you made it back home safe! I am sure the wedding was so much fun! I had a blast when my son got married 3 years ago on St. Patricks day. They have been together for 7 years now ! They dated for 4 years before they married!

Gail- Yes I am great! Thanks for asking! I am having a lot of fun getting to know my sweet Jeffrey! We met on a free dating online site called plenty of fish! He is a Civil Engineer with a Masters degree! Very smart! He is full blood German both of his parents were German and he grew up in Germany but lives here in San Antonio now. HIs parents were killed in a car wreck together about 25 years ago and he has a younger sister and a 16 year old daughter. His wife died of breast cancer 3 years ago and he has not dated since then. He is really sweet and romantic! He wakes me up every morning by texting me Good Morning Babe! and he calls me sweetie too! He is 49 yesterday so we are the same age. He is in Florida for two weeks on a business trip so I can't wait for him to be back so we can go on a real date! He is a sweetheart and a keeper!

I was so tired last night I went to bed early and glad I am finally getting a good nights sleep every night since I got my new cpap machine. Sure makes a difference to get a good nights sleep!

I have to go today to get my monthly shot and check my mail and get a copy of my SS award letter for my housing. Tomorrow I have an appointment with the Texas Rehablitiltative Services . They will be helping me find a part time job I can do that won't be too stressful for me. I am excited about that!

Sandy- So happy your dh is doing so well! That is so encouraging that he did the work to in recovery and is taking things just one day at at time. My ex husband was never willing to get any help for his alcoholism and he is still very verbaly abusive to me. So I just dont' talk to him. He drinks a lot and it has gotten worse over the years and he takes all his anger out on me so it is better for me to just not talk to him. He talks to my daughter and son sometimes on the phone but never goes to see them. I have done it all by myself. I am glad you do have a good husband and glad you business is going so well!

Hope everyone else has a great day!

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Well, I am finally going to get a day off. DH is going to work on his own tomorrow. I will get to sleep in a little. I do need to go to the warehouse to do some work. Then to the bank and hair cut. My SIL is leaving this weekend. My BIL is arriving on April 17th and is staying till April 27th. It will be a nice visit for the two of them.

I hope that everyone is having a great week. I will read more later as I am just tired out. Thank you everyone for the kind words about DH. He is happy to be home and is taking things one day at a time.

Home Sweet Home!!! Arrived about 5 today. However, think the cold weather is following us down and supposed to only be in the mid 60's tomorrow. Oh well, back to 80's by Sat so guess after the cold we had the past few days we can make it.
Care is unloaded and things all put up. 2nd load of laundry is in the washer. Abbie is home and was excited to see us but now letting us know she is not happy-she is sleeping behind the sofa!!!
Busy day tomorrow so off to bed I go.

The dish turned out very well. I overfilled my tagine and had a problem getting the lid off because the juices welded the cover onto the base when the tagine overflowed. Next time I"ll know better.

That sounds yummy Gail. I made African Spicy Peanut Sweet Potato Stew last night with Swiss Chard and no beans. Never understood the beans in it, plenty of protein without. It was delightful and vegan. My hubby hates the word vegan, so we just never mention it and he is fine.

Going to try a new dish today, chicken tagine. Wish me luck. LOL!

My friend Ann is coming over today and after lunch we'll pack up music. I'm on a high with all the progress made yesterday. Woo Hoo!

Will try to stop by later.

Hello Everyone,
Pat- So happy the wedding went well and you had so much fun with grankids! I love going to Arizona to see my granddaughter ! Grandkids are the best! and my mom and Dad had friends who lived in Merdian Miss and I was born in Mccomb miss but we only lived in Miss until I was 3 years old then my Dad was transferred with Sun Oil Company to Laverne Oklahoma a small town of 2000 people in the panhandle. We lived there from 3 until I was 14 when my Mom remarried. My Dad died when I was 11. But Laverne is always our home town for me and my brothers and my Mom and Dad both are buried there now. I go back for class reunions every 5 years!

Gail- My church does not have prayer groups. There are people who get together and do that but I participate in the bilble studies they have for the women and go to sunday school and church and that is about all I have time for! It keeps me busy and doing the women's actiivties they have every month!

my new caseworker called at 10 am this morning and I had only slept about 6 hours but I couldn't go back to sleep so it was good to get up. It rained really hard all day today. So that was nice! I couldn't go anywhere but it was nice to finally have some hard rain. I love the sound and smell of rain! We rarily get cold here and never get snow so I love it here! Everywhere I have lived has been cold ice and snow!

I didn't hear from my sweetie Jeffrey today but he had a big presentation to do so I know that took a lot out of him and I am sure he was tired when he came in from work. Hopefully will hear from him tomorrow since it is his 49th birthday tomorrow ! We are the same age until Nov when I turn 50 so that is nice to date someone my same age too. He calls me sweetie and babe and it has been a very long time since I had a man talk that sweet to me so I think he is a keeper but time will tell! I am in no hurry!

Well hope everyone has a wonderful day Tuesday! Darla

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Good Afternoon:

Went to the eye doctor this morning and was told that my vision is 99% with corrective lenses. He was very happy. Also, I have mild cataracts, so mild, in fact, that he said I have the eyes of a 50-55 year old. Not too shabby as I'll be 73 next month.

This afternoon my neighbor came over and helped me for 5 hours! More music scores were boxed, parts of the basement were put in order, and a lot of stuffed was set aside for Travis and for Hospice. There is too much to go into recycling but at least it's all in one area. Recycling will happen when I am away next month so my neighbor will put it out for me.

I was able to stave off the cold and am feeling better though not quite 100%. That benedryl and the netti pot really help.

Thanks Vicky and Sheryl for the early birthday greetings. Always so nice.

Vikki,
That is an issue, but mostly at night, they are brought in at night. My son & his wife had them too, but alligators kept coming up and grabbing them. they had to coop, the last problem was coyotes, yes they live in Florida, can you imagine?

Hi everyone! We're finally healthy at the same time and now busy catching up with life. It's sunny here, but bitter cold. We're eager to start outdoor projects, but it's still way too cold to do anything. We need to refinish our deck, my sweetie wants to install different closet doors in our bedroom, I want to get our flower beds in shape. Have any of you tried cold frame gardening? My DH suggested trying it, but from my internet research, it looks like it's meant for winter gardening. Tuna noodle casserole for dinner, then we have a discussion group meeting at church this evening.

Darla: Happy Birthday to your daughter and congratulations to you as a proud mom!

Gail: It's never too early or too late to celebrate your birthday!

Sheryl: We have a friend who decided she wanted to raise chickens. Her DH built a fancy coop, huge yard for the chickens and roosters, the whole nine yards. Then a fox and chicken hawk showed up. She has given up on them and only had a couple when we last visited them. She enjoyed the fresh eggs and bartering with them, but the glow of caring (and protecting) them dimmed.

Have a great evening!

Gail, Happy birthday, whenever it is. Now I have not forgotten to say it, lol.

Today is my egg pickup day. My cousin has a small free range chicken farm, with no antibiotics or GMO's. We meet her and deliver to a personal chef for his clients. I love to go out there to see the chickens, she has the kind that make the pretty green and blue eggs. Americana's I believe they are called. Of course I always get a few dozen for myself too. Nothing better.
I try to eat only fresh whole foods or items I process myself, I have been eating like this for years, just too much of it I guess.

Good Morning:

I went to dinner last night and it turned out to be a very early birthday dinner. My birthday isn't until the middle of next month, but I'll be gone so much in April that Ann thought it best to do it now. It was a lovely dinner in a Moroccan restaurant. I started feeling a cold late yesterday afternoon so I took some antihistamine with another dose before bed. Got to take another now. In a couple of hours I go for my annual eye appointment. Will stop briefly at the supermarket and then I'll work with my neighbor on packing up music scores. Travis will be here on Friday.

Take care, be well and do good things.

Gail

Nan: Where are you and what have you been up to? Haven't heard from you in several days.

Sandy: Boy, the former owner of your business sounds like a piece of work. I bet you can't wait to be over and done with him. Congrats on moving into the black. It's hard starting out in a business and most small businesses don't make a profit for quite a while.

Pat: Bet you are well on your way home. How was the wedding?

Val: So sorry to hear about kitty. Hope she isn't as ill as you imagine she might be.

Sheryl: What have you planned for today/

Darla: Do you participate in any prayer groups with your church?

Hello Everyone!
Sandy- So happy your husband is doing so well and back home! yeah! Glad you have some help with your business now. Sorry you are having so much trouble with the former owner.

Glad everyone else is doing good!

I got up and went to sunday school and church today then went out to eat with a friend from church and got home in time to get Jefery's text message. He left today to go to Miami Florida for a business trip for two weeks so I was happy to hear from him! He is such a sweet good man! We are going very slow and have emailed a lot and then progressed to text messages and talked on the phone twice. he really seems to care a lot about me and very interested in my life and all I have been thru. His parents died in a car wreck together and his wife died of breast cancer. He has one daughter who is 16 and he is German and has a very thick German accent so I had to ask him to repeat what he said on the phone a few times. But his English is very good and he is very very smart! He a Engineer. he is a keeper I think! I am happy!

Today was my daughter's 31st birthday! I can't believe it has been 31 years ago I had that beautiful sweet redcurly haired girl of mine! She is such a good swet person and a good mother! My son is 29 and my daughter in law is 26 and Erin's daughter is 6 my only grandchild. They are making me feel old! lol

Hope everyone has a good night! Darla

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Sandy, I'm so happy to hear that DH is home with you. I really hope that he is able to stay on the right path and that you two are able to stay together. You've been through so much together that it would really be a shame to let it all fall apart if he can't keep up with things after his time in rehab. I'm praying that things work out well for you guys. And good luck getting your new business in order. It's a lot of work but I know that you can do it.

One of my cats keeps waking me up every morning to the sound of her barfing on my bedroom floor. She even hacked up a hairball on the bed a couple of mornings ago but I was do darn tired that I didn't even wake up when she did that. If this doesn't stop really soon I'm going to have to take her to the vet. She was really my ex DH's cat and she's the one I'm a little bit allergic to, but she's really sweet and I took the responsibility of caring for her when XDH left. The thing that has me worried is that she's 10 years old and I can't afford to care for her if she's got something really serious like cancer going on. So I'm kind of afraid to find out what's going on, but soon I'm going to have no choice but to find out. Poor kitty. emoticon

I was so tired that I accomplished absolutely nothing today. So tomorrow I need to do laundry, pick up prescriptions, pay my electric bill and pick up a package at the post office. I think I need a few more days in my week...

There was much rejoicing!

I have been so busy putting out fires this past week and smoothing things over because of the old owner. I emailed the old owner, as he is out of town to ask him to Please put a message on his phone saying that he no longer owns the business and to refer all calls to to me. Plus to unplug his fax. Well, the email came back with a vacation e-mail response saying " you can now reach Dan at" and it was my New business e-mail. So, this is way people are still thinking is is the owner. It has been really crazy. Good news is that DH is home and he will be helping me now. He helped me on Saturday just on a couple of them. I am going to be hiring another guy. I have an interview with 2 guys on Tuesday. I my son's friend painting post out at the old owners place on Monday for me so they look really nice and better then before. The money is starting to come in. I finally got the books done thanks to my SIL and the New computer. Thanks to my friends and family that have been helping me I think I am finally getting a handle on it. I am calling the Attorney on Monday to talk to him about what is going on with the old owner as he is hurting the business as the customers are complaining. And they are right he should have on his Phone that he has sold the business and to please contact the New owners at.... But, he won't. So, now that customers are now told I own it and they are calling him and telling him off. They are all happy that I have taken it over as they were all about to leave and now they are staying.

Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement it has really helped. I am sorry I have not checked in as often as I should. I finally got some sleep last night. Slept till 8am this morning. It is sunny out but, a little cool but, I am so wiper out I can't even move. DH is just happy to home so we all are just spending time hanging out. My SIL went to the store yesterday and picked up some of DH's favorite foods and fixing it. She has been really helpful and sweet. I will really miss her when she leaves.

Well, everyone I enjoyed reading about everyone's adventures and stories about camping. It reminded me of college days and living on my own when I lived in California. Anyways, I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! Love to you all. And Big Hugs too!

It is too beautiful to stay indoors. I will be making something for the slow cooker so I can get outside!

Good Morning:

Just got up and it's already past 7am. Haven't slept this late in a while. I'll be going to dinner with my friend tonight. We're trying out a Middle Eastern restaurant. At home I'll be cooking up a bean and vegetable soup, most of which I'll freeze.

What are your plans for the day?

G.

lol That is a great story Val! It is amazing how we change from what our parents did when we grow up yet still have those great memories from when we were kids! I wish I had been brave enough to camp more with my kids but would have to have a air mattress to sleep on now which my son does take with him! lol You sound like you have great parents Val! I loved my Mom and Dad both so much. That is a great story!

Well I am proud of myself I actually got up and went to Weight Watchers today. I started in Jan but have not been following it or didn't think I was! I have only been 3 times today was ithe 3rd time. Lost 5 pounds the second time and only gained .8 today! I was happy it was not a lot! woo hoo! Now to get serious about it. Just need to go buy some fruits and veggies.

Hope everyone has a great night! Darla

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Okay, now you've done it...you have to hear the rest of the story about camping with my family when I was a kid...

I did enjoy it a great deal of the time, especially when I was 12 and younger, but it was always a big production. We would get started early on the day we were leaving home and we would pack everything in the van just so. If Daddy didn't approve of how we packed it, we were going to pack it all again. emoticon Then Mom would navigate with AAA guide books while Daddy drove a predetermined number of miles to wherever we were stopping for the night. Then we'd set up our camp site just so. The tent we had was bigger than just a 4 person tent and it had to be put up just exactly the way Daddy wanted it to be put up. In the morning we'd take the tent down exactly as Daddy specified, pack the van in the same manner, and drive the predetermined number of miles to the next spot where we would do it all over again. As we drove away, even from a gas station, we were all required to look carefully behind the van as we pulled away to make sure that we weren't leaving anything behind.

Camping trips were tightly controlled by my OCD dad, but they weren't as awful as I'm sure I've just made them sound. We went to a lot of great places and had a lot of fun. When we moved from upstate New York to New Mexico we traveled down the east coast and went to a lot of historically significant places, which was really cool. We also went to Yellowstone, the Continental Divide, White Sands, a lot of really interesting places. But by the time I was about 15 I'd had enough of the super tight structure of these trips and I didn't go on the last one when I was a senior in high school. While the rest of my family went on that one I stayed home because I couldn't get the time off from my job. (I'm sure I probably could have, or I could have just quit my fast food job, but I just did not want to go on that trip.)

As an adult I did a little bit of camping, mostly with some friends I worked with at a record store. One of the guys would go to this beautiful spot a couple of hours north of Albuquerque and stay there for a week. Some of us would go up there during the week and we'd have these great camping parties up there. But for me it was never nearly as structured as camping trips with my dad. I'd just throw my tent, some food and my violin in the back of my Chevette and drive up there. It was a lot more fun when it was more spontaneous, but eventually I got too old to sleep on the ground simply because of the discomfort. Now when I go on trips I always stay in a motel. Guess I'm just not the adventurous type anymore. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

I am actually with you now Gail I like a hotel! I tried camping one weekend with my kids and a group of other single mothers but it was tent and sleeping bag and I was in my 30s already and said never again! But my son and daughter in law like to go camping with their friends and just got back spending time camping with 7 of their friends for their Anniversary and had a lot of fun. My daughter use to go camping too until she had my granddaughter and has not tried with her. I grew up in the country on two acres of land but always lived in houses after we left Laverne in 1980 when my Mom remarried. and I always lived in houses with my kids but never in the country. I do love the quiet of the country and just being on the land . I guess I am a country girl at heart but still like modern conveniences now like hotels! emoticon

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

My idea of camping is a local motel. LOL I guess I'm just a city girl. My husband and I took the kids camping a couple of times but it just isn't my cup of tea. My son-in-law LOVES camping and only does primitive camping (tent and sleeping bag). He loves to go in the dead of winter. Go figure.

Your family sounds like my Mom and Dad when I was growing up until he died when I was 11 . We went on camping trips in our little scotty trailer and it was so much fun! I have a lot of good memories with my mom and Dad and 3 brothers on those camping trips! We would also loan the camper out to people in town we knew and they would always but a state sticker on the back to where the trailer had been so that was fun to look at all the state stickers and then when my girlfriends would come over and spend the night we would sleep in the trailer so we could have out privacy and talk about what we wanted without my brothers listening in! lol We also lived 18 hour drive away from my grandparents on my mom's side and even further from my dad s dad and step mom. But every year we made it both places but spent more time with my moms parents and that 18 hour drive with 4 kids in the car got a little crazy sometimes! lol I only had two kids to travel with fighting with each other so I don't know how my Mom and Dad were able to handle all 4 of us fighting! lol My Mom remarried when I was 14 but my step dad never did anything but sit around and watch tv. My mom was never happy and I tried ot get her to leave lots a times and she finally did in 2005 and me and my brothers got to spend the end of her life with her until she passed away in 2011. She was always a lot more fun away from my step dad. I took my mom on lots of trips just me and her and sometimes my kids with us. I am so glad I had that time with her since she got where she coudnlt travel at the end of her life. Lots of great memories too! emoticon

When I was a kid we went on a lot of camping trips as a family. We'd pack everything into our Chevy cargo van (with hideous carpet on the floor, walls and ceiling in the back) and travel on back roads, almost never on a state highway and never, ever on an interstate. We would go to little attractions that looked interesting in small towns we drove through (museums, mine tours, things like that) and almost every day we would stop at some little place in some little town for ice cream. Lots of good memories from those days. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Hello everyone!
Hope everyone is having a great day today! It is sunny and warm again today but suppose to be in the 60's tomorrow and sunday with rain but we really need the rain the lakes are really low here.

Chris my son called me yesterday and they had a blast on their camping trip they went on for their Anniversary! He had 9 people there all together just friends and they had a lot of fun! They have always included family or friends with them on their wedding and anniversaries. Even at their wedding they didn't go on a honeymoon and just hung out with family and friends! They are a great couple. They dated for 4 years before getting married and have been married for 3 years now so they are doing great!

My daughter broke up with her boyfriend so she is sad and not handling it very well. She is such a sweet good girl I wish she could find someone to marry. Hopefully someday! She enjoys her job and has a lot of fun with Maddie doing things!

I am still reading on my book Hidden Riches by Nora Roberts. It is a thick book so it will take me a while to finish it. I mostly read a chapter before I go to bed at night.

Sheryl- That sounds like a lot of fun! I am sure you will enjoy eating there!

Hope everyone has a great night! Darla

Gail, wish you could join me too. We have a wonderful time.

Tonight we are going to Palm Beach Gardens Supper Club owned by one of Slow Food's Snail of Approval Chefs and board member. He is hosting a guest chef, also a Snail of Approval Awardee for Vegan night at the Supper Club. I am not a vegan, but a great fan of Chef Alison's and I am very excited to be able to make the trip.

Hello Everyone!

I had a problem with my toilet not working and the maintence fixed that and my sinks were stopped up in my kitchen again and it is a new maintence man and he looked underneath my sinks and a pipe was busted! The other maintence men kept telling me it was my fault for draining the hamburger meat in the colander when it was there fault they had broke the pipe! So now it is fixed and hopefully it won't get stopped up again!

I have been to Flagstaff Arizona and to the Grand Canyon in high school and then two year ago my daughter and granddaughter and I rode the Polar Express train and that was fun. The mountains were so pretty!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Nan: I've two trips planned for April. I'll be going back to Cancun early in the month and will go to Santa Fe, NM for a long weekend late in the month.

I had a beautiful hike yesterday, the waterlily's weren't blooming yet, but we saw many native plants blooming. We followed an off the track trail through the piney woods and when we came out on the main trail a beautiful lobelia blooming in all it's glory. Hiking is such a perfect way to get in exercise!

Hello Everyone!

Well there are just some nights I can take all of medicine and still be awake all night and last night was one but I have watched some good TV shows and wrote some emails to friends so it was not wasted.

I watched Joyce Myer today and she is a Christain speaker and she was just sharing the David and Goliath story of the bible and how we all have Goliaths in our lives and things we can change whether it is our anger, losing weight. finances or addictions. She said not to try and tackle them all at once which is what I try to do! She was talking about how it is just tackling one thing one Goliath at a time and making progress because if we are making progress it is good! I thought that was great! I did join Weight Watchers but I have not been consistent with the meetings or sticking to it like I should but I am going to starting today! Just one day at a time!

Sandy- I have never start4ed my own business but I am sure it is hard work and I know once you get it where you want it will run smoother for you! Keep up the good work!

Gail- You are doing such a great job of getting rid of things! I need to go thru my one bedroom apt and just throw some things away. I don't really have anything that anyone would want . I have a lot of room in my apt but still would like to get rid of some things and then save some money to buy a car and buy some new furniture but that will be a while.

Nan- It is warm weather here but we are expecting rain sat and sun. Today is the first day of Spring! Yah! Maybe we all will start getting warmer weather!

Hope everyone has a great day!!! emoticon

Good Morning:

Well, it snowed again yesterday but it was warm enough that it didn't stick. I never left the house; instead I relaxed and read about half of a new James Lee Burke book that I started. It was good.

I decided to make stuffed cabbage yesterday and found that there was meat left over so I made mini meat loaves. Big mistake; they came out hard as rocks and were only edible smothered with Katsup. The stuffed cabbage was fine. Today I'm thinking of making a red lentil soup. Wish me luck.

Well, once again I didn't think I did well on the last auction, but surprise, surprise I did fine. Travis will come by tomorrow morning and take more things for upcoming auctions. I've got about 7 boxes of music scores in the living room all ready to go. There are still things in the basement...tools, new in packaging...and more photographic items in the back bedroom. I'm getting there, ladies, I'm getting there.

My arthritis has been acting up since I returned from my trip in February and I'm sure the weather must have something to do with it. Today I want to get over to the gym to get heat therapy.

Wishing you all a happy day,

Gail

Pat: Safe travels.

Sandy: I bet you can't wait to get everything resolved. Starting your own business entails a lot of responsibility, hard work and flexibility, not to mention patience and a sense of humor, no?

Hello everyone,
We are having nice weather here until this weekend it is suppose to rain but still be warm. I have not done much this week. I had no appointments or anything so it has been a nice relaxing week. Started reading a book called Hidden Riches by Nora Roberts. I really like her books she is a romance mystery writer. Someone always falls in love in her book but they are aslo in danger of some bad person hurting them. It is real exciting read. She is a good author.

Hope everyone has a good night! Darla

Only worked a few hours today as I am putting out fires right and left due to the old owner. Thank goodness I have only lost one office and one agent. The office I lost didn't give us a lot of business. So, I have a friend's son that is coming over on Friday to work on the storage unit and clean it up and organize it. Plus I need him to pull the signs for the office that I lost too.
I'll just be happy when I have everything organized, cleaned up and working right. I also put a ad in for hiring another installer/driver. I have gotten several really good guys so far. I asked of guys 30yrs + with clean driving records.

Hope everyone's week so far is going good.

Hi everyone! It's raining today, might turn to freezing rain/snow by tonight. Spring IS coming though, birds are happy, we can see the ground again in places, it's good. My sweetie is doing well, I'm still recovering but I exercised 40 minutes this morning (felt more like survival than exercise). I haven't gotten much else done except get our dinner baked so we can eat early and get to choir on time. It'll be the first time this month that both of us shows up for rehearsal!

Pat: I get those kind of emails all the time! Do NOT open them, even if they seem weird, someone's phishing! Delete them. I hope you're enjoying a good trip!

Have a great evening!

I had the weirdest thing happen today. I got an e-mail from DAD! It came thru with the message of How are things going? in the subject and it showed it was from tom091411@yahoo. There was no message in the body of the e-mail. I know I should not have opened it but it was just too weird! It has gone to my span folder so hope I don't get a virus from it! I wonder who has gotten his e-mail and managed to send me a message. It felt so strange but like Dad was coming back to check up on us.
Eerie.

We were up early (6:30) so Bill could go down for his coffee and donut and I got the bed pulled apart and did the dishes from last night before heading out for my walk. When I got back home, Bill had started the laundry while I was gone and he decided he would walk a round with me so we both walked another round but he didn't do all the side streets.

Dan (president of RO) came by right after we got back and he went with me and Frank (Maint. man) to see all that I want the maint. guys to do. That took nearly 45 min to go over everything and make a few decisions on things but think we have a plan now. I am so happy all of them are willing to work with me on the things I want to do to improve the looks here in the park.

Once that was done it was back home to work on some things here. We had gotten our Visa bill so I matched it up and took care of setting up that payment. I had called for Bill's mandatory distribution from his IRA on Fri and it came yesterday so got that ready to deposit. More packing, gave Abbie a bath, stopped to visit with Betty & Boyd when they stopped as they were walking around the park. When they left, we took time to watch the noon news after making our bed. Laundry was done so now we have clean sheets for tonight and clean towels for our shower in the morning.

Golf cart place called & said our cart was done so gave them our CC # and they delivered it this afternoon about 3. About 1:30 I headed out to fill the car with gas, go to the bank and deposit a check, and picked up lunch at Wendys. Bill stayed home as we didn't know when they would deliver the cart. I like Wendy's fish sandwich and they only have them during lent. I was a little put out-paid to get cheese on it and they didn't put it on but I was home by the time I found out so wasn't going back. They will hear about it if I go back for another one before they are out of season!

Vicky & Barb were up working in the flowers so after I got the car over here and vacuumed it out and cleaned the windows, I went up to help them for a little while. We are actually making progress and the front is all weeded and I only have 2 more liriope to trim up there! They are going to have to wait until I get back home. The maint. guys are going to start putting out fresh mulch while I am gone so maybe they can get it all done before it gets so gosh darned hot.

It was almost 5 by the time I got home. We got the hanging stuff and shoes loaded into the car. Will have to put the medicine, cooler, and bag with all the other stuff in in the morning. I have Abbie packed and she has been all brushed out so Vicky & Sonny will get her after breakfast tomorrow. I will leave all her stuff in the kitchen for them to take when they get her. Sure I am forgetting something but guess we will just have to do without it or make a trip to Wally World!!!

Not sure how much time I will have while on this trip but will try to check in when I can as I am taking my tablet.

Pat

Hello Everyone!
It has been sunny and warm here today and a pretty day! We are having nice weather until the weekend then it is suppose to rain again. my daughter was on her way to a parent teacher conference they have several times a year. My granddaughter is doing so well in school and does not get into trouble at all so proud of her! She is a sweetheart! She is in Kindergarden this year!

Well I got a long email from Jefferey the man I am talking to right now and it was so good but sad too. He lost his parents in a car wreck about 25 years and ago and then his wife died of breast cancer 3 years ago. He is a Christain and goes to church every sunday so I was happy to hear that. Seems like a pretty nice man! I am happy to find a nice one for a change! Seems like I always end up with the ones that are not nice which is why I have never remarried but still want to. So we will see how it goes but was happy to read all about him in his email today!

Well I am fixing to make some pork chops and busches baked beans for supper. Hope everyone had a great day! Darla

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Hi everyone! It's sunny here and we've enjoyed the sunshine. I'm still not 100% recovered, my sweetie is doing well but his leg is still swollen (thanks for prayers for him!). I picked up groceries today and made cookies for our college GS, but that's been it. I know this is temporary and I'll get my energy back soon, it's just a bother.

Have a good evening!

Good Morning:

Had a traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner last night with my friend, Ann. Her sister, Susie, has lots of ailments and was a no show. I sent Ann home with a goodie bag for Susie. Those two are among my very closest friends and I have known them for decades.

Well, three floor to ceiling metal cabinets made it out of my house yesterday. Two of the cabinets were back to back in the middle of the room. OMG...the room they were in looks so much bigger! The guys that took them also brought two floor to ceiling bookcases (one from that room and another from the basement) to the garage. They didn't charge me so I tipped them. It was very hard work.

It's going to get up to the 40s today and even if it is only for a day, hey, that's better than nothing.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Hello Everyone,
I am doing pretty good. I have not got much done the last few days just relaxing and watching TV. I kept hearing a noise before I woke up today that sounded like someone knocking on my door but when I went to look no one was there. So about 200 when I got up and around and ate lunch I heard it again and thought someone was in my patio area and opend the door to look out and saw my neighbor who is married moving things out and he said he was on his last load. I was so happy! He has made a lot of sexual comments to me since I have been living here the last few years and I complained to the office but they never did anything about it. So I was very happy he was moving out!

Today is my son and daughter in laws 3rd wedding Anniversary but they have been together for 7 years.! They get along so well that I think they will make it a long time together! They are a cute couple. they had gone out of town to camp out for the weekend and I didn't try to call because I was not sure if they were back or not. I will try tomorrow. I am so proud of them staying together so long when I am divorced from this Dad. I hope they stay married forever!

I met someone on Plenty of fish a dating online site but it is still new we have only emailed and exchanged regular emails and phone numbers today so we will see how it goes. I have dated two other men in Oklahoma that turned out to be pretty good men so I know there are good men on there. This man is a widow and has kids but not sure how many . We have just started talking. So we will see how it goes. I am in no hurry.

Hope everyone had a good St. Patrick's Day! Both of my kids love St. Patricks Day which is why Chris got married on St Patricks Day! I do think the Daily name is Irish but not sure since it is my ex husbands name and not sure of family history on that side. My maiden name was Youngbllood and my Dad was part Native American and my Mom was white. But I look white not Native American . I do have real red skin though like my Dad had.

Well hope everyone has a good day Tuesday! Darla

Vicky - I'll keep your DH in my prayers and hope that the swelling will go down with PT. I hope that you start to feel better so.

Pat - You are a busy one.

Nan - Nice of you to pop in.

Darla - How are you doing?

Gail - Are you feeling better?

Today we a busy and a little frustrating day. I have an Agent that is a problem. Rather most of the office is. The Office Manager called me today and said that they just might go with another sign post company. I get a lot of busy from them and that would be fine as this one agent has a habit of sending me the wrong address all the time and then says it wasn't pulled. Then I go out there and it isn't there as I just pulled it the day before. Then I get a call and it is a different address. I explained this to the Office Manager and informed him that I just took over the business. I nicely said if he wanted to go with the other company that is fine but he will need to give me a list of the agents and give me time to pull them all. Then they can come pick them up. As I said I don't get a lot of business from the office probably only 6 a month if that. I only have maybe 4 for this month. so, losing them is not a big deal. The rest of the day went well and it was a real nice day. We are expecting rain starting Wednesday.

I hope that everyone had a great start to there week.

Happy St. Patrick's Day All

We were up by a few min after 7 as had to be at Quest at 8. We both had appointments this morning as we have to go to the dr next Fri. He likes it done a week early but had to figure out how to fit it in before we left so it was today or tomorrow and Bill loves his coffee and donut on Tues so...that left Mon! We were surprised that it wasn't packed like it usually is on a Mon. I guess some of the snowbirds are leaving already???

After we got out of there, we headed to McDonald's as Bill was craving an egg mcmuffin. I don't care for them so I had their bagel, egg and bacon sandwich. After that it was home for the rest of the day.

I had to take money down to Sharon in case the maint. men get a chance to work on mulching the beds while I am gone and I picked up last months financials which I reviewed late this afternoon & e-mailed a question on one of our CD's. I noticed one is up for renewal next month and we haven't discussed this so....thought someone best get to checking rates before Apr!When I left the office, I headed up front to work on more pruning of the liriope plants. I now know that the entry island is ready as is all the beds in the area of the Brittany sign. I didn't quite get thru with all the beds on the right side as you enter but hoping to get to that tomorrow and the roses on the other side of the road also. I doubt they will get to any more than what is already ready. If I get it ready too soon and they don't get to it, just have to weed again just before they spread the mulch. I had to quit when the rain moved in about 10:30.

After I got home, I cleaned up and got busy on our packing. I had to iron some items I wanted to take so also got the ironing caught up. I still have some odds and ends to pack but some can't go in till the last minute.

I quit a little after noon and sat down to watch the news. We ate leftover pasta casserole after watching the news. That got that and a few left over mashed potatoes out of the refrigerator.

I was just getting ready to start another project when Lin called to see if we were home. I managed to get finished cutting out my coupons before they arrived. We visited for a little while to get caught up on what we all had been doing and then started playing some Hand & Foot. We called to see if Vicky & Sonny wanted to play but he was in a meeting so they popped in when we were about finished with the first hand and we just dealt them in for the last 2. The gals ended up winning both games we played. Everyone headed home a little before 5.

We have had rain all afternoon and quite a lot of thunder which isn't making Abbie too happy. However, it has gone on long enough that she has finally given up trying to stay on my lap. Guess it is going to stay with us till sometime tomorrow morning. Won't complain as we really need it-Sonny said the lake was down 2" from his last reading just a few days ago.

I fixed a ham steak, green beans and fried some sweet potatoes for our supper. I have just about used up all the veggies I had so that is good. We have an orange and a few apples left so will see what we can do with them tomorrow. Abbie loved the green beans and the sweet potato. I peel and slice them and partially cook them by boiling and then fry in a little butter and sprinkle a bit of brown sugar on them to get them to crisp on the outside.

Hopefully the rain will clear out tomorrow as I want to do a little more work in the gardens and give Abbie a bath. Also want to clean out the car and then get it mostly packed by evening.

I am hoping we don't get into a lot of spring break traffic. Traveling thru the week I am hoping the roads won't be too bad. Still not sure how we will go up.

Hi everyone! Thanks for your good wishes for my sweetie and me. His fever broke Saturday evening, he began eating again and he feels pretty good. I never had a fever, but I felt crummy. We both stayed home yesterday and took it easy. I feel he's doing well, but I keep taking his temperature just in case.

The not so good news is that his right leg is swollen and red. He is a cancer survivor, melanoma was found on his foot two years ago, and he had two surgeries to stop it. Cancer survivors usually have lymph glands removed in the process and swelling occurs because the lympathic fluid pools in the limbs once the glands are gone. Long story. Short version is that with time and physical therapy, his leg looked normal again in December 2012. Now it doesn't again. We went to the doctor today to make sure it's not a bacterial skin infection and the doctor confirmed it is not. This is a great relief, but my DH still has a swollen leg. We're doing all of the PT stuff he had to do after his surgery and hoping that the leg swelling subsides soon.

If it's not one thing, it's another, huh? I did get my exercise in today by cleaning the house and that's my productivity for the day! I dropped a couple of pounds since last week - gee, I wonder why? emoticon We splurged and went to our favorite coffee shop for an outrageous latte for me and a chai tea for him. It's been quite the week for us!

Darla, hugs for your loss and your aunt's.

Waving hi to everyone, I'm not up to chatting too much yet, but it's good to catch up with you on the threads.

Have a good evening!
