Gail - Glad you are staying in. I see you are getting another round of cold weather. I feel for you. Saying prayers for all of you.

Pat - MY SIL is staying till March 19th. DH is suppose to be coming home April 2nd. So, she will come back up then. He is really doing go and the Doctor thinks the work will do him good.

THEADMIRAL - Be safe and be careful when you are out walking. Yes, come warm up I feel for you and the farmers and others as all that snow has to go somewhere. Last year when it happened it wasn't good. Be safe.

Darla - Glad you got the results of your tests and everything is being adjusted and you are being put on New Meds. That is good news as at least now you know.

Val - Always good to hear from you. How is the job going?

Sheryl - You are so lucky to have 80 degree. While the rest of us are having 40 degree and lower.

Well, they are talking snow for Sunday and Monday. Right now it feels like it - it is cold or rather feels cold. It is only to get up to 48 tomorrow and the low is 36. My SIL is going run some errors while I am at work tomorrow. I am going to stop by the grocery store and pick up some meds after work tomorrow. SIL & I are going to stay in this weekend and watch movies with a couple of the girls. I am pretty sore and tired. The girls are cooking for me this weekend which is really nice. Speaking of cooking, the guy came and worked on the oven today. It was a manufacture defect. There is a wire that is encased in plastic so it won't get damaged when you heat the oven. But, when you clean your oven it gets really hot. When that happened it caused the plastic around the wire to spilt and shut down the oven. Unfortunately he had to order the part but, was able to fix it in the meantime so that I can us it. He will be back out on March 6th to replace it with the new part. He told SIL that when I go to clean the oven again that it shouldn't happen again with this new part.

So, does anyone have any special plans for the weekend?

Made some comfort food this morning to counter the bitter cold we've been having. I posted it on my blog if you are interested in making a mushroom and cheese crustless quiche.

Sheryl I miss those 80's! We have had rain the past 2 days and had to turn the heat back on but sorry everyone we are to be back in the 80's this weekend.
Gail I am glad you can stay inside and not have to get out in those freezing temps. I am hoping that it warms up by the middle of March as we are coming to MO for our GD's wedding the 22nd.
Darla so glad that the dr has prescribed a different machine that I hope will help you sleep better. I know my DH has a bi-pap machine that he sleeps with. His is an older version (had it about 4 years) and he is hoping one of the days that it fails and he can get an updated version as they are smaller and quieter than his!
Sandy glad that the new business is going so well. I know it helps to stay busy. Seems you and your S-I-L are enjoying each others company. So nice you get along so well. Is she staying several weeks with you this time?
The cold and rain has kept me inside the past couple of days but hopefully by the weekend I can get back into my walking routine. Tomorrow we are going to visit friends in St. Petersburg. They bought a condo this spring and we want to go see them and check it out. They didn't get down till Jan and have been busy getting it all furnished, etc.
Stay warm everyone and be careful when out and about.
Pat

Hi everyone! We had a mini-blizzard last night, snow and lots of wind caused white-outs. The sun is out, but it's still breezy and bitterly cold. I walked with Leslie this morning and then made chicken soup. It's a lot of work, but I think it'll be worthwhile with all of that chicken meat and fresh vegetables in it, plus I have chicken stock for another recipe as well. We're going to Hope College's women's basketball tournament tonight, we hope they keep winning since they have been the entire season.

Pat - Thanks for the tips on rose care! We have a small rose bush that I hope survives the winter, all things considered.

Gail - Yay for exercise! Good that your accountant now has to figure out how to maximize your 2013 donations.

Darla - WOW, so glad that your sleep study doctor is taking action to help you sleep well at night! It CAN be tiring to have so many doctor appointments - hang in there.

SRivers - You had a busy, full day yesterday. Thanks for prayers regarding the severe winter. I guess my fear is when it does warm up, all of this snow will cause flooding and possible problems for the farmers here.

Sheryl - emoticon 80's?

Have a good afternoon and evening!

Good Morning:

I had to go out yesterday and let me tell you it was brutal. We are going through a cold spell now. At present it's 5 F but the wind chill makes it feel like -15 F. The weatherman says it's going to get worse and stay very cold for several days. I'm not going out unless I have to.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

Didn't work as long today. We had 9 installs and we got them all done quickly. They were all close to each other and not so spread out. I was able to come home and take a shower and clean up before SIL got back and do a few things. We then went and had a bite to eat. it was another beautiful day today. It was 53 today. But, they are talking snow for this weekend. If it snows Monday I won't be working.

My prayers are with all of you in the Midwest and East. You have been dealing with such cold weather this year and so much snow. It just keeps coming. I just hope you all get a break soon.

Have a great day everyone!

Hello Everyone Again,
Went to see my sleep study dr for the results of my sleep study and he said my sleep apnea is severe. I stopped breathing 225 times during the night and 57 of those were for 10 seconds or more. I knew I woke myself up not breathing sometimes even on the cpap machine. So he is ordering me a new machine that is not constant air like my old machine is and it will work if I have a cold or something to kind of breathe like I breathe so I am excited! Now between the new med for my Diabetic Neuropathy and this I hope to be able to sleep all night every night and finally get where I am not so tired during the day. Have to get out again tomorrow to see my psychiatrist and get my monthly shot for my Bipolar and hopefully just be able to rest this weekend except for doing laundry and going to church! So tired of drs and other appts. Hope everyone has a good night!

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Good Afternoon:

Well, I just got back from the accountant's and thankfully all that is behind me...let him worry. I have a strong suspicion that I will not be able to claim all my donations for 2013 but it remains to be seen. Whatever it is, it is. Nothing to do about it now.

Went to exercise and now it's time to sit back with a book. Tomorrow morning a neighbor is coming to help me pack things for donations or sale, and the library truck is coming to pick up 11 boxes of books. Friday morning Travis is supposed to come.

It is so sunny but cold as all get out with wind chills down to -35 to -45. Going to kick back with a book and drink some hot tea.

Enjoy the evening.

Rose growers, in particular, are strong advocates for using Epsom salts. They claim it not only makes the foliage greener and more lush, it produces more canes and more roses. The recommendation for applying to existing rose bushes, is to either mix ½ cup of Epsom salts into the soil around the rose bush and water well or dissolve ½ cup of the salts in water and use to water the rose bush. Do this in the spring, just as the bids are beginning to open.

For ongoing rose care, mix 1 tbsp of Epsom salts per gallon of water and apply as a foliar spray. You may need several gallons of water for larger rose bushes and climbers.

A word of caution: Epsom salts sprayed on leaves can cause leaf scorch. Do not over use and do not spray on hot, sunny days.

I only use about 1/3 cup on my roses 2 to 3 times a year-especially after I prune them to encourage new growth. I had always used it on my palm trees, but last year a master gardener told me to add to the soil after pruning and it did an amazing job.
The Epsom salts is made up of magnesium sulfate and you can buy palm fertilizer and if you read the label, voila same thing and the Epsom salt is a lot less expensive.

I had wanted to get it applied to the roses after pruning but I didn't get it done and today it has rained all day so hopefully I can get it applied tomorrow as Fri we won't be home. If not, I will just have to do it this weekend!

Hope this solves the mystery. It can also be dissolved and used on your house plants to feed them in case any of you would like to do that.

Pat

Hi everyone! It's cold and breezy here, the new snow is blowing around a lot. I worked out with a cardio video and then rode the stationary bike, then picked up some groceries before lunch time. I'm pretty sore, so I'm taking it easy today. We'll have large salads and leftover pea soup for dinner before going to choir practice.

It sounds like everyone is really, really busy! I hope everything goes well for you'all today! Have a great afternoon and evening!

So what is the purpose of putting Epsom salts on palms? I have a feeling one would put them on roses for similar reasons, but maybe I just need to wait for Pat to tell me why she does it. emoticon

Hello Everyone!
I am not a gardner either but that does sound interesting! Every plant I have ever had dies because I either water it too much or not enough so I gave up on plants a long time ago! I admire anyone who can keep them alive!

Well we went from 73 degrees here yesterday to 43 degrees today and it has rained! But it is really cold out there. I have to get out in a little while to go see my sleep study Dr. to get the results of my sleep study and I think I am going to need my coat! Tomorrow it is suppose to be back in the 70's and I have to be gone all day to see my psychiatrist and get my monthly shot so at least it will be nice tomorrow.

So nice to wake up to a clean apt today! I still have laundry to do but it is a long ways to walk to the laundry mat and just too cold today to do it so I will wait until tomorrow or Friday when I don't have anything to do.

Going to eat leftover Chinese food for lunch! Hope everyone has a great day! Darla

We use epsom salts on palms all the time. Palms are a type of grass. Never heard of it with roses either. But, you learn something everyday.

I've never heard of putting Epsom salts on roses. (I'm not much of a gardener so I'm sure there are a lot of things I've never heard of...) What is the purpose of that? Curious non gardening minds want to know. emoticon

Up and at it early again-Bill didn't want to miss coffee and donuts! He joked he would go and spring Sonny from the hospital and then take him back. =-O I got up and got out to walk early. It was nice out - about 63 which meant I had to put on my denim shirt but I was getting warm by the time I got home.

DH was here when I got back. I got my breakfast and then we were off to Wal-Mart and Aldi by 9 am. I got the weed n feed for the yard and will get it on this week. The weeds are really sprouting so want to try to wipe them out. I got the larger bag and will spread half now and the rest in about 3 months.

We were back home before 10 and got everything unloaded and put up and then headed up front so I could prune the roses. DH & Abbie went up with me and he visited with several of the guys who came by while I worked.

Let me tell you that was exciting. There was a wasp nest built in one of the roses and when I cut that branch off and stacked it for the maint. guys to pick up they got a "little" angry! Well, I had to quit pruning in that are or risk getting stung. I moved to the roses by Mark Rd. and Frank (maint. man) came and sprayed the wasp. I finished the area I was working on and then went back and did the rest of the other area. Glad to have that job done. Now I need to weed the one area and then get the Epsom salts on the roses. I have to get some rose fertilizer to encourage blooming and the roses will be done for now. Slowly but surely I am getting things done for spring.

I got done about noon so we decided to have a BLT for lunch. After we got that ready, we watched the noon news and we were both really tired. I managed to read the paper and by that time it was almost 2. We were both so tired we opted for a nap and by the time I woke up it was after 5! I could not believe I slept for 3 hours. I guess our company really wiped us out. DHl said he heard my cell ring while we were napping (didn't wake me!). I checked and saw it was Ellie-she was calling to let us know she had dropped Bob off and was at home. I am glad they made it home safely and in good time.

I got our supper going - baked potatoes in microwave and burgers on the grill. While everything cooked, I gave Abbie a bath. I decided I best get it done today since rain is predicted for tomorrow. I had planned to do it earlier but that didn't work out since I slept the afternoon away!!!

Vicky said Sonny was a tiny bit better today. She is still not feeling great. She is pretty sure she just has a bad cold. We are trying to keep up with them but also keep our distance. Sure do not want DH getting sick.

We sat outside after supper and let Abbie air dry. It was a busy place-had several people stop by to chat. Paul-our neighbor across the street-was flying his helicopter and that intrigued Abbie. We enjoy watching him fly his planes and copters. He belongs to a club up in Ocala.

Well, Spend part of the morning on the phone trying to get the Oven fixed or someone to come out. Went through all the question and all the list of things to do. When the gal said they will send someone out on Thursday morning. Then Talked with my Phone company to add a extra line for the business and that took a little while. Then it was off to take care of the trucks registration . Since I am going to sell them I don't have to register them so that is good. Then went to the bank and took care of some business there. Then my SIL & I got a bite then went Antiquing for a little while. We had a really nice day. The sun was out for the first time in a while. It only got up to 48 degree today. My SIL was freezing. She is use to California weather. We found a few nice things and then had a nice piece of homemade pie and tea afterwards. Then we headed home. We are now just relaxing and watching a little TV and having some tea. I will be back at work tomorrow. SIL will see DH tomorrow and have him sign a few papers and talk with the doctors.

Have a great rest of the week everyone. emoticon

Hello Everyone,
Well it feels great to have my apt cleaned up! My caseworker and I were having some disagreements to his boss came out today and I ask for a female caseworker. So he will be setting me up with her. After I get a job I won't be on housing anymore at all and paying my own rent plus having extra money coming in and just getting out and having other people to talk to and not being bored to death at home. My ex husband started paying the back child support again and I got a check today! I was so happy to have some money for food and my medications. I still need to work on decluttering my apt but at least it is clean now. I had one of those nights where I took my medications to sleep but layed in bed for two hours and couldn't go to sleep so just got up and cleaned and watched TV. By the time my caseworker and his boss got here I was exhausted. So just resting the rest of the night and watching TV. I had not been putting my feet up and cleaned off my footstool so I could prop up my legs and feet. We have a cold front coming in tonight and the high is only going to be 43 tomorrow and rain! I have to get out to go see the dr for my results of my sleep study but other than that going there and coming back home. I did remember to call the van this time so I will have a ride there and back and not have to ride the bus.. Hope everyone has a good night!

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Hi everyone! We have light snow falling today and it's cold, OF course! I walked a mile with Leslie, jumped rope for three minutes emoticon and did a circuit training video. I helped my sweetie get postcards finished and out the door for a ministry outreach our church is coordinating. I have some ironing waiting for me plus I need to review my lesson for the munchkins on Sunday morning. Tonight we're having Applebee leftovers with brown rice and vegetable yet to be named.

Darla - I'm so glad you're feeling well enough to bless your apartment before today's caseworker's appointment! The women's gathering at your church sounds like fun!

SRivers - I like to get the house cleaning DONE, the laundry I do a bit every day. You've been pretty busy! I hope you and SIL have a lot of fun.

Frosty - I'm glad your friends are making good time on the road. We always time our drive through Atlanta outside of its rush hours. The only place worse is the Washington DC area where we lived for over 20 years - horrid driving there! You've been Very Busy getting your place back to normal after visitors. As far as doctors and blood works, I guess we just require more "maintenance" as we age, eh? Are Vicky and Sonny retirees? I hope they get some answers soon about Sonny's condition.

Have a great afternoon and evening!

Our friends were up a little after 5 and I got up about 5:45 (tried to stay out of their way while they got showers, etc.) and got the coffee perking for them. They didn't want a big breakfast so it was bagels and cereal. While they ate, we visited for the last time and then they were on their way by 6:30. Bill went down to the clubhouse and got them ice for their cooler just before they left so they should be good on that front. They wanted to get thru Atlanta in the middle of the day so they should have easily made it by early afternoon. The plan was to get to at least Chattanooga or further if traffic wasn't bad and then on to St. James tomorrow but they wanted to go by St. Charles and drop off some tomatoes so it will be late by the time they get home. Bob has a dr's appointment in Jefferson City on Thur so they couldn't linger long. He is really hoping to get a place to rent for 4 mo next winter. (just got a call & they are west of Nashville so should be home easily tomorrow-they have made excellent time!)

The morning started out with a bit of sunshine but it quickly changed to some clouds and it has been overcast all the rest of today and it rained a little after noon. It is 71 out there but damp so it feels cooler. I have on long sleeves and Bill got out his jeans. I managed to get out there and walk about 7 and it was nicer then than it is now.

I have been doing laundry - got their bed stuff & towels washed and dried before 10. Bill went back to bed after they left and slept till about 10. We pulled our sheets off after he got up and now need to put them back on our bed. I had bought a new mattress pad before they arrived so I used it on our sofa bed as that mattress isn't the greatest so now it is on our bed which is what I really bought it for. Will find out how it feels tonight.

I have the house all put back (we had to put the coffee table out in the Fl room to open the sofa and we just left it in a bed while they were here. I got the dishes put away that were in the dishwasher and did the breakfast dishes, did what ironing I had from yesterday and we both got our showers-all this before noon.

I did fall asleep while watching the noon news and got about an hour nap. Roger & Ruthie dropped by just before 2 as she had to have blood drawn. We ended up going to a late lunch with them and grabbing an ice cream cone at Mc Donald's afterwards. They headed on home about 5. Seems our visits anymore center on someone coming this way to see a dr or have blood drawn!!

Guess we will hit the bed early tonight and hope to get caught up on some of our sleep!!! I took some food over to Vicky before lunch-she had come home to try to get a nap as she spent 8 hrs at the ER. Sonny didn't get into a room until midnight and she came on home about 10:30. She went back early this morning to see what was being done. He got into a room about midnight and is on oxygen, being given breathing treatments. IV antibiotics and steroids. Just got off the phone with Vicky and she said the pulmonary dr told him he isn't getting out anytime soon! They are running all kinds of tests on him to see if anything else is going on. His immune system isn't as good as it could be-he had radiation last year and it is still compromised.
Please keep him and Vicky in your prayers (she isn't feeling good either so she will likely be the next one ill).

Had a great day today even though it rained all day. But, came home to my new oven not working. I turned the oven on to clean it today and when I got home it was on and then it just went out. Did everything I could think of to figure out what happen and it hasn't come back on. So, I have a call in to have it checked out.

Pat - I hope that Sonny is doing better. I will keep him in my prayers.

Looks like Monday must be cleaning and Laundry day. As that is also my day too. As soon as I got home I started in with the help of my SIL. I fixed Stew yesterday so we are going to have left overs. Tomorrow I am going to be at home doing paper work and reg. the trucks and making calls and Mailing off my taxes to my tax gal. Then my SIL and I are going to go have some fun. Dan, the old owner said he wouldn't mind doing it so I could get caught up on the paper work before it gets to bad.

Have a great week everyone!

Hello Everyone!

So good to hear from all of you and you are so busy today! I am busy too! I am just working on my apt and getting my dishes done in the kitchen and my living room picked up for my caseworker coming tomorrow. I have a friend from church April who has Autism and she just got a dog Gracie who is her Service Dog and it has changed her life so much! She is getting out and going places on the bus more and just goes everywhere with Gracie and it has really brought her out of her shell and she is doing great! t has been amazing to watch!

Vikki- My church does not have the video of the services. It is a small church but my son's church does and I like his preacher too. So I need to just ask my son how to get the videos from his church to watch when I don't make it. The beginning of March the women are having a time together in the church to play games and have some fun! I am looking forward to that!

Glad everyone is staying busy! Take care of yourselves! Darla

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Hi everyone! It's a west Michigan day with clouds, snow, bursts of sunshine, breezy, cold. emoticon I got my exercise by setting a timer and cleaning the entire house. My sweetie dodged as I darted, and he wondered how doing housecleaning could cause so much sweat! emoticon I'm doing laundry and making an enchilada bake with kale and sweet potato for dinner. Sounded intriguing, so I'm trying it.

Darla - I'm good at shutting off alarms, I set two of them, sometimes three! If you enjoy church, does your church record its services? The larger churches will even video their services in real time so I can "join" them (I'll do that if I'm too sick for church). I hope you hear from DARS soon!

Frosty - You had a busy, full weekend with your friends! My BIL and his wife rent a house in Florida for four months after Christmas time, they're golfers. I couldn't stand to be away from my own house for that long. It sounds like you had quite the downpour yesterday! What is Sonny's condition that he's back in the hospital?

SRivers - I'm so glad you had a fun weekend! It's so encouraging that your business is doing well!

Gail - I'm glad you enjoyed some DD time yesterday. I can be a loner, so I'm thankful for my DH and my church family who keep me connected. As far as taxes, I believe there ARE limitations on donation amounts, so I hope your accountant helps clear that up. We live in west Michigan and get the Lake effect, so I'm always appreciative of bursts of sun during the winter months.

Sheryl - Yay for new strength and toning! emoticon

Dusty - Such a busy lady! All of that plus caring for your GS! You must be a good gardener, did you buy cherry blossom trees? They can be tricky, I think. We used to live in the Washington DC area where, of course, there are hundreds of cherry blossom trees that bloom in late March. They are watched carefully by the National Park Service arborists.

Time to check the laundry - have a great afternoon and evening!

A busy day today, several loads of laundry, a stop at the gym and time with grandson. Then a lot of filing papers to complete. I purchased some cherry blossoms to brighten our home...so lovely and light...a welcome sight to gaze upon.

Good Morning:

I had a lovely brunch with my daughter yesterday. It's probably good for me to get out more, but it's an uphill battle. I think I worked so hard, so furiously, all my life, and then things got more stressful yet after I retired and was the sole caregiver for my DH for 4 years. Though physically able, I'm totally sapped of mental energy to go out and do more. Movies, theater, and other kinds of entertainment don't have any allure for me. I'm not lonely at all, and in fact, love being by myself. Sounds crazy, huh?

Right now I'm focusing on getting the taxes done and have to work through some loose ends. It's something I go through every year and I hate it. At this point it's not clear that I will be able to claim all my donations; I'm waiting to hear from the accountant.

It's been cold but sunny here in Wisconsin and sitting in the light and sun by a window has been so comforting and relaxing. Most days I only go out when I have to. Hope all of you are safe and sound. With all the terrible weather that has been effecting many parts of the country, it's been quite a winter.

G.

Sandy: You sound so upbeat and it's wonderful that your business is taking off and you enjoy it.

Pat, Pat: Darling, you might think about slowing down a bit. You seem to always take on so much what with gardening for your community, entertaining, etc. Be gentle with yourself.

Sheryl: How is your exercise program going? Do you have more energy? Is your muscle tone improving? It takes a while before things kick in.

Well, It sounds like everyone has been busy. I have had a busy weekend with my SIL. We did see DH and he is doing really good. Friday night SIL and I went to a concert downtown as a friend of DH's plays in a band and they were opening for "English Beat". It was a lot of fun and it was great to hear our friends band play. He was really happy to see me and glad to hear about DH. We didn't get home till 2 am on Saturday. So, we were pretty tired the next day. Sunday we got a little snow so we stayed in and I made stew.

Business is doing really good. The old owner said he as not seen it this busy. Which is a good thing. Monday I have post to pull which means no pay but, that is OK. It will give me time to run and get the trucks register.

I will try to check in more often, in the mean time I hope that all of you have a wonderful week.

Another beautiful day in sunny Florida (that is until the rains came about 3:30!). I was off for my walk by 7:30-after making coffee for our company! Ellie walked Abbie a short ways and Bill & Bob sat out in the carport while we walked.

We were off to get breakfast by 9 am and went to a Rae Rae's-a new local restaurant. We had to wait about 15 min for a table. However, it was worth the wait. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We all got something different. After we ate, we headed to Markets of Marion. They wanted to take home some oranges and tomatoes so we got that taken care of. I picked up a couple of peppers for Bill and some turnips. We like to snack on both of them.

We got back home about 11:30 and they took our golf cart and got some pictures of here to show friends and family. Bob is trying to get a deal set up to rent in here for 4 mo this coming winter. He has one he is really interested in and will likely take it IF the guy renting it this winter doesn't return next year. The one he thought he would rent didn't work out-the lady wasn't being reasonable so......

About 1:30 we went out to lunch - Bob wanted to take the couple who took us out on their pontoon out to eat. We went to 441 Diner and all had great food even if we weren't really too hungry but had set this up earlier and actually it worked out for the best as we got back home about 3:30 just as it started to rain. We had quite a downpour here-think we got about 3/4 of an inch and a lot of wind. It blew so hard it blew into our Florida room under our front porch. It even blew under our carport and misted in our back door! A couple of my hanging baskets on shepard's hooks blew over too.

We started watching the Daytona 500 and of course our rain went east and it has been rained out. We are waiting to see if they are going to race in a few minutes. Looks like now it is going to start in a few minutes.

Will send Ellie & Bob on their way back to St. James in the morning-think they are not looking forward to that cold weather. They should be home by Tues. eve. He has a dr appt. on Thur so can't dally too long.

Keep our friend, Sonny, in your prayers, he is back in the ER and supposedly they are going to readmit him.

Hello Everyone,
It is a beautiful sunny day today too. I am just working on my apt and getting it cleaned up. My caseworker is coming out tues to inspect it so just trying to get it all done. I didn't make it to church today. I set my alarm and turned it off and guess I fell back to sleep just laying there and when I woke up it was too late. I hate I missed it. I am excited about going thru dars to get a part time job! I am hoping they can find something good for me. I should hear from the counselor sometime this week. I have a lot of dr appts again this week.

Val- I hope you lunch went well with your friends! That is great you are being such a good friend to your friend with Cancer. That has to be so hard on her and even you as her friend. I had a cancer scare and they found something in both breasts but after more tests they found it was okay until next year so I was happy. Glad you boss has resigned too! hopefully you will get a better boss in there!

Gail - So great you found a bargain with your clothes! So happy you have lost the weight and are in smaller sizes now. That is wonderful!

Pat- I understand what you mean about company! If I have company or just go visit my daughter I am ready to come back home and get back to my own routine. It wears you out! Glad they found a house to rent. You are super busy! I don't know how you worked and did al of that when you were working!

Sheryl- Good that you are exercising! I need to do that myelf~!

Vikki- Glad you had a great day at church and going out to eat too! That is always fun! Glad you are having good weather!

Hope everyone has a good night! Darla

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Hi everyone! It's sunny and beautiful today, but still cold and breezy. We had a great morning in worship, ate out and I chose a healthy entrée (yay me), watched Michigan State lose and we're relaxing this afternoon. No exercise today because I still have some discomfort.

Gail - Good bargain hunting yesterday! I'm Vikki.

Val - I hope you have a good visit with your friend and that others come to cheer her as well.

Darla - I'm glad you were able to sleep better!

Frosty- You've really been busy with your friends! Such fun things to do, but I feel the same way with company or when we're visiting someone, I just want to get back into my own routine life. I guess they're snowbirds and not moving to your area on a permanent basis? Lot of Michiganders are snowbirds during the winter. I think we keep Florida well populated then!

Sheryl - I'm the same way if I don't keep up with my exercise during the week. emoticon emoticon

Been busy with our company and checking in quickly before going to sleep. Hard to do much on here with company so I wait till I go to bed and then too tired to do much!
We had friends take them out on their pontoon boat and they had a nice time on the water. Bob has a pontoon back in MO and they both enjoy fishing. We saw 2 gators which was exciting to them. They have been looking at homes and have found one they would like to rent next winter. They want to rent 1 winter to see if they like it down here before looking for one to buy.
I have enjoyed them but will be glad to get back to our "routine". I have been cooking off and on. We have gone out twice to eat. However, we are going to breakfast and maybe dinner tomorrow as Bob wants to take our friends out for dinner for taking them out on their pontoon.

I am glad the new medicine is helping you Darla. Now I will be praying you can find a job that will use your skills. I am thankful I no longer have to work. Wonder now how I ever had time to work!!

Val how wonderful that your "bad" boss is leaving. Hoping whoever they hire to replace her is much nicer. Nothing better than outlasting a "pill" of a boss!!!

Gail glad you found some clothes you like. Isn't it wonderful to look for smaller sizes. If we don't quit eating so much, I am going to wish I hadn't gotten rid of my old clothes!

Beautiful day today. I was sure glad of that because I had to drive out to see one of my foster kids. It takes 45 minutes to an hour. I had to cancel last weather because they live in a rural area & the road there were bad.

Hello Everyone!
Glad so many of you remembered Robby Benson like I did. He acutally has had 4 open heart surgeries due to a heart defect he was born with the first one at 28 and that kind of ruined his career as a actor at least because of the ins they have to have on them. But his book is all about that and his wife stays on top of his health! I was happy too Val to hear he had not got into drugs or something like that. it was a good interview.

Glad to hear so many of you are having good weather. I have been too. we have had 70 and even 80 degree weather but suppose to have two days back in the 40's this week. Crazy weather! I do feel sorry for all of you who have had bad weather. I use to live in Oklahoma and even the panhandle of Texas and the winters are really bad I have lived in San Antonio for two and half years and do really like the weather except for the allergies in the air! I have gotten use to them some now but cedar is really high and I am allergic to that if it is too high

I have been sleeping really good the last few night so feeling pretty good now ;. I am working on my apt tonight and watching Suze Orman at 8 pm . I love her segment Can I afford this and I am just shocked at the prices people will pay for things! I guess I just have never had that kind of money and it just surprises me that people would spend that kind of money on basically nothing! I can usually tell when she will deny someone ! she is a tough woman!

I am going thru a rehab center that has professional people who help me get a job that I can do with my disabilities so I am excited about that. I had done something similar to that in Okla one time but the job they found me was doing line work that anyone could do and didn't consider my education at all. So hopefully they will find something I can use my education for. Hope everyone has a good night!

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

I used to have the biggest crush on Robby Benson. It's good to know that he didn't burn out and ruin his life with drugs the way so many actors have.

I'm not doing much today. Tomorrow is the day that I'm meeting my friend for coffee and pie, and I'm hoping that some of her other former coworkers that I contacted will show up, too. A number of other people have expressed a desire to go with us, but most of them don't actually show up when I invite them to join us. I'm really hoping that doing it on a Sunday will get more people to meet up with us. I don't mind at all when it's just me and my friend, but I feel like it would be really good for her to see more people than just me once in a while. I would have tried to do this today if I'd kept in mind that the Daytona 500 is tomorrow, but it's just not nearly as important to me as it was when my late DH was alive so I can live with only being able to see the beginning of the race.

Other than that, just trying to get lots of rest before I have to go back to work. My friend Stephanie told me that our horrible boss has resigned emoticon so I'll only have to deal with her for one more week after I go back to work. Hopefully the company won't be able to find us another boss as bad as this one to replace her...

I hope that the rest of you are having a really great weekend. Hopefully those of you who have been snowed in are thawing out. Just remember, spring is on the way...sometime...

Good afternoon:

One thing I've learned about myself is that it is best to have some healthy snacks ready. Raw veggies and fruit that are washed and cut up, hummus and tea are best. Today I wanted to be sure I got in some cooked veggies, so I washed and cut up broccoli and sweet potato.

With the weight loss my winter things are too big and I look like a clown. Yesterday I went into Walmart to pick up a kitchen step stool and happened to pass a rack of ladies sweat pants. I found a pair that fit well and were so comfortable so I took two pairs. Realizing that my winter tops that fit were few and far between, after Walmart, I pushed myself to look for some soft, warm winter tops and made my way to Savers. I found a couple and also got a couple of other things including a Vera Wang jacket, a very dressy skirt that is long on one side and shorter on the other, a winter hat and some bras. (I hate to shop, but as long as I was trying on somethings I figured I might as well try on a few more and get it over with. That's much better than having to go out another day.) They gave me a 20% discount because I donated things to them so all in all I did very well.

Travis came yesterday and left with a van load of things to sell. Music scores and photographic equipment, cameras and accessories are mostly what he took. There is another auction next week so he won't be coming again till next Friday.

Enjoy the weekend everyone,

Darla; I remember Robby Benson but from other movies/TV shows. Good to hear that he is doing well.

Sheryl: It's a bright sunny day here and though the temperatures are in the 20s, as long as the sun shines I'm a happy camper.

THE ADMIRAL: What is your first name? I don't recall ever knowing it. On the matter of weather I find I too like four seasons, though it would be great if our longest season, WINTER, could be pared down to 4 months a year! LOL

Hi everyone, it's a little cloudy with blue sky and sunshine today, the wind has diminished, but the cold is back. I've exercised and I think I need a rest day from it, starting to feel weak when I exercise instead of gaining strength. We have no plans today except enjoy being home, probably catch up with my remaining Olympics recordings. We loved watching the final women's figure skating last night.

Darla - I vaguely remember Robby Benson, but not as the voice of the Beast. It's nice to read that not all actors are self-centered and self-destructive in their lives.

Sheryl - I can understand why you love Florida, but for me, it's just not natural to not have a real winter with real snow. Yes, it's not always pleasant, but neither are hurricanes and high humidity, so I guess we're both blessed to live where we are! emoticon

I do not remember him, but what an inspiration he must be to those around him and a testament to "never give up."

It is a beautiful Saturday here, as usual, off to a meeting this morning, but really thinking about how lucky I am to be born in Florida, hardly ever putting up with the awful weather that occurs in the northern states every year.

Hello Everyone,
Not sure how many of you remember Robby Benson a actor in the 70's . He had several movies but had not heard much about him over the years except he was the voice of the Beast in Beauty and the Beast. I had his picture all over my walls from Tiger Beat Magazine when I was a teenager! Oprah;s network which is OWN she has a show called Where are they now which follows up on guest and actors and actresses no one has heard about in a long time. Well tonight she had Robby Benson and it was such a good interview! He is a college professor and producer now and had 4 open heart surgeries from a heart defect he has that he was born with. He has wrote a book called I am not dead... yet! He said people will see him and say I thought you were dead! I want to get his book and read it! He is still a good looking gray haired man now! He has been married to his wife since they were very young! It was fun to watch!

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

A wonderful day today, I see that some areas are getting a break in the cold weather, but the Detroit area is under siege.
We have had a fairly hot day today, not enough to turn on the a/c though thank goodness. We look forward to winter so we can open our windows and get those lower electric bills.

Hi everyone! We have yucky weather again - snow, rain, strong wind. It's a good day to stay inside. I walked with Leslie this morning and ventured out for a milk run, I'm glad I don't have to deal with that wind again for the rest of the day! Doing laundry this afternoon and reading. Tonight we'll have the rest of the split pea soup I made, side salad and possibly my multi-grain bread. We'll probably watch the recorded Olympics tonight, love missing those commercials.

Darla - I'm glad you're feeling better! I hope the test results next week help you with your sleeping patterns. I enjoy watching the Olympic skaters as well, I feel like crying with them when they're disappointed.

Gail - I agree with Val. I learned the hard way to not click on strange emails, even if it's a friend's name as the sender. I did it once at work years ago, and my PC immediately melted down. Grrr. When in doubt, throw it out!

Val - I follow FLYLady for keeping my clutter under control. She said one thing that really helped me when I needed to downsize our clutter - if it doesn't make you smile, throw it away, donate it, get rid of it. It's so nice that you're ministering to someone fighting cancer!

Frosty - I'm glad your company made it all right, it sounds like it's a "working" trip for them since they're house hunting, but you're making it fun for everyone.

Nan - I'm enjoying the Olympics too, but I always feel bad for the ones who don't succeed. These people work and practice beyond anything I'm capable of and I admire them.

Have a good afternoon and evening, all!

Hello Everyone,
I saw my nurse practioner today and they still had not sent over the results for my nerve conductivity test like they said they would but she prescribed me a med that I take at night and it should help with the pain and just the restless of my sleep from me tossing and turning all night with my legs hurting. She said it would get worse not better and affect my stomach too which is proubly why I feel nauseated a lot . I forgot to tell her that part. She was in a hurry because they close at 12 or suppose to but I was done as 1145 and she still had 3 more patients to see. She said my lungs did sound good and they did a oxygen test and it was good even thought I lose my breathe pretty easy just from doing anything. The medication is prescribed for seizures and Parkinson's too but I don't have parkinsons and I have never had a seizure but use to black out sometimes and not know where I was at but I have not had one of those for a lot of years so hopefully they are gone;. She said to stop taking the med I take at night to sleep because it could interact with this new med and this new med is suppose to help me sleep too. I don't have much money until I get my ss check on the third and the pharmacy called and the med is less than $2 ! So I was so happy my ins paid that much of it and it was a cheap med! So hopefully tom night I will start doing better. I can't go get it to day because I have other things I have to get done but will pick it up tomorrow and start taking it and hopefully get some relief. she said it would only get worse and affect my stomach too which may be why I keep having waves of nausea. She was in a hurry and I fogot to tell her about that. she did look at my feet and said they were okay but my ankles have been swelling a lot they just were not swelled today. Woudlnt you know! When you want to show the dr something then it suddenly is not there the day you see them! I do have some numbness and tingling in my right calf and foot but I am just going to keep walking and keep the circulation going as much as I can.

Thanks to all of you for the concern.; You are a great group of ladies! Darla

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Gail, I just went back and looked at the part of your post about the email from Amazon UK. We should all keep in mind that unless we are sure that we ordered something that's coming from the UK we should only be getting emails from amazon.com. Also, whether this same sort of thing happens to you or not, you should check your credit cards and bank account online at least once a week to make sure that nobody has charged things to you that you did not authorize. A few months ago someone hacked into (luckily) my smallest credit card and my bank account in the same week. Completely drained my bank account, but the bank restored my account because the 5 identical charges were so obviously not made by me. Just one more thing to have to worry about in this modern world...

There was much rejoicing!

Late but I will try to get a note off before I go to sleep. Our company didn't arrive yesterday as originally planned - they got into Leesburg about 9:30 and stayed up by the airport at the Hampton Inn. They didn't want to come in and bother us so late! Eleonora called about 6 to tell us what they were going to do and that they would get here about 9. I was up by 6:30 and got my kitchen and bathroom floors steamed clean. Then I headed out for my walk a few min after 7. As I was coming up Mark Rd. I thought that I saw her car and yes, it was. They were driving around the park as she wanted to show Bob the park. I came on home to make sure Bill was up before they arrived. He had gotten up and showered earlier and then went back to bed and dozed off!

We have had a busy day. They have looked at a couple of homes and didn't really care for either one of them. They will look more tomorrow while the office is open. We will let them use our golf cart and have at it!

We took them over to Apopka to The Catfish Place. They both really like fish so thought that was someplace different-we have had Eleonora to several around her and even to Catfish Johnnies in Lake Pan.

Eleonora and I went down to bingo at 6 but had no luck. I had gotten busy on supper while they were looking at homes. I made chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes, green beans, jello salad (raspberry jello with pineapple) and later we had strawberry shortcake. I even made the bisquick shortcake!

Eleonora and I went to Eustis this morning and got some fresh berries and other veggies. I plan to make them fresh BLT's for one lunch. They like fresh tomatoes. It was extremely busy today. Took me 15 min just to get in the lot and parked. I got lucky when I left as the guy in front of me backed out and I pulled right on thru and onto the main road and then out. I haven't seen it this busy in ages. Think the beautiful weather brought everyone out.

Sonny was supposed to take them out on their pontoon boat today but he was not feeling good-he gets worse at night-coughs pretty much all night. Vicky called the dr and he prescribed a breathing machine and he can take the treatments 4x a day. If this doesn't help, he may have to be hospitalized again.

Well, I best get some sleep-will likely be another busy day tomorrow. Beautiful weather today-84 for a high and we are sleeping with the windows open tonight!

Gail that is a phishing scam to get you to click on their link. If you know you didn't order anything and get anymore e-mails like this, just delete them. Always look at who sent it to you-usually the e-mail address won't be amazon-it will be some phony address they are using. Sometimes this is how you get a virus or a worm on your computer.

Gail, I'm so glad that you seem to have had such a nice time on your cruise. And I'm also glad that your ship doesn't appear to be one of the ones where everyone got sick. That wouldn't make for a very good vacation. emoticon

I just finished e-filing my federal and state taxes, really happy to have that out of the way. Next thing I have to do is clean my bathtub, which has gotten really filthy, and take a shower. Tomorrow I'm going to lunch with my favorite work friend and then I need to try to spend a significant portion of the rest of the week cleaning up my apartment. I've let it get very, very untidy since the last time I did a really thorough cleaning. I've got way too much stuff and I really should get rid of a lot of it but sometimes it's so hard to decide what I should give away or just throw away. I don't have to go back to work until Wednesday the 26th so I've got some time to work on it.

Tomorrow I'm going to have lunch with my favorite work friend and then I've arranged for a few of my coworkers to get together on Sunday for coffee and pie at Village Inn with our former coworker who has cancer. She and I get together almost every week for lunch or pie or whatever, but I wanted to do it on a day when more people could come so that she would get to see more of her former coworkers. A lot of people ask me about her, so I figured while I'm on vacation and I can do things on more than just a Monday we should try to get more people to be able to get together with her.

Anyway, that's about all that's going on around here. Pat, I hope that your son is able to start feeling better (or at least less bad) about the accident he was in. Darla, I'm really sorry about all of the pain you've been having because of your neuropathy and I hope that your doctor is able to help you to find some relief from some of it. Sandy, I hope that your DH continues doing really well with his treatment program and that you guys will be able to stay together after he finishes with it. You've been through so much together that it would really be a shame to have to break up because of his substance abuse problems. Hopefully the two of you can come up with some strategies to help keep him sober and help the two of you stay together.

I hope that you're all having a really great week. Time to go clean my really nasty bathtub...

There was much rejoicing!

thanks for the concern Gail! I am going to the dr again tomorrow to my regular dr and go over the results of the nerve conductivity test and see if there is a medication I can take that goes with all the other meds I take. I have a van thru my ins that picks me up and brings me home and I finally after all that walking the other day remembered to call them for the rest of my appts tthis month;. They pick me up at 10 and my appointment is at 11 and they close at 12 on Fridays. So hopefully the med he suggested will work with my other meds. I did feel good enough to work on my kitchen and get the dishes done so glad of that!

I have been watching the Olympics tonight and love the ice skaters! I tried that a few times when I was a lot younger but was never really balanced enough to do it! I could roller skate pretty good but have not even tried that since my kids were a lot younger. Now with my granddaughter I am going to have to get back in better shape to keep up with her! lol She keeps me going when I visit her! Hope everyone had a good night! Darla

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.

Good Evening:

Darla: So sorry you continue to have so many health problems. Hopefully the doctors will sort it all out. It's good you get a lot of joy from your church activities and have made friends.

Dusty: I envy you for having done your taxes. I've got a good start but.....

Sheryl: Your husband is a keeper. Not too many guys vacuum, mop up and cook. You are a real team. What a blessing.

Val: Sounds like you had a blast at the gem show and really enjoyed the visit with your folks.

Nan: On the cruise we didn't have a television channel that offered the Olympics, but every day the newsletter kept track of the number of medals each country had. Looked to me like Norway was the leader of the pack.

Sandy: Congratulations on closing the business deal. It sounds like your really enjoying it. Good for you! Hope your DH continues to improve.

Pat: So glad you enjoyed the cruise and got such pleasure from sitting on your balcony. I spent a few hours a day on mine and loved it. Pat, I'm very disturbed when I hear stories on identity theft and will follow through with your suggestion. In fact, I just might go down to the SS office and have them walk me through it. Thanks so much for the info.

On a related subject, I recently got an email supposedly from Amazon UK. The email said they would contact me when my order was shipped and they provided a link. I was at sea and never ordered anything. I emailed a reply and told them so...bad move. Now they have my email address. Upon careful examination of the the email the email somehow got to me without my email address. It must have been some sort of broadcast. I clicked on the link but nothing went through because the signal at sea is soooo slow. That was fortunate for me. Had I been successful I would have had a virus on my computer. UGH. My SIL told me never to open a link from anyone I don't know. Good advice.

Travis will be here tomorrow morning and I'll send him away with a van load of things for the next auction. Oh joy!

Sweet dreams everyone.

Gail

I did not sleep all night at the sleep study about 6 hours I think but it was 3 hours straight then I got up and went to the bathroom and it seemed like to took a long time to go back to sleep then they got me up at 5 am. to go home. I did remember to set up the van to pick me up this time and so that was nice. I came home and sleep some more and now getting ready to fix me something to eat. It was really cold in the room and I had to ask for a extra blanket. But slept good when I did sleep. I do think my machine needs adjusted and so did the dr I saw before the sleep study;. So I see him again on the 26th to get the result of the test and see if I need a new machine or just adjust the one I have.

It has been in the 70's and even 80 here and I finally climbed on a chair and turned on the air conditioner so it feels so much better in here! I am not hurting in my legs like I was so it is better . I do still feel nausea for some reason so hopefully I am not getting the flue or something. just going to work on my apt today now that I feel better after I eat something.

Gail- So happy to have you back and glad you enjoyed your time in Hawaii! That would be a fun place to visit. I have never been there. But it does look beautiful!

Vikki- Glad you had fun with the little kids! they are so cute when they are little like that and have such big imaginations! My granddaughter is 6 and she has a big imagination! She is a sweetie1

Sandy- Hope you have fun with you SIL and getting to visit your DH! glad you have some company and glad your business is going well!

pat- Glad you are having company too! I am sure you will enjoy that! Yes my daughter and I had already figured it it was proubly that my cpap machine needed to be adjustd and I need new equipment too. I see my regular Dr tom to go over the nerve test and I will give her the prescription for the new equipment that the sleep study dr wrote out for me. so many dr visitsbut they do stay on top of my health.

Hope everyone has a good day! :)

Taking every day as a gift from God and being so thankful for my kids and my very funny granddaughter! Each day is a new day and I am thankful for it.
