Sherri, that's the one I mean - Visionary Art!!! The museum where the outside is mosaic, mostly in mirrors!!!

I'm horrible at names, but I can tell you what it looks like and some of the major artworks inside. My favorite is the giant throne room installation, rendered in garbage covered in tin foil, created by a custodian. Just a fabulous and imaginative piece!!!

I had seen and read the editorial before it was posted here. One does have to call Trump on his "incivilities", shall we say, especially as he becomes more and more emboldened. It cannot simply be ignored. I am just waiting for the law to catch up with him. And then who will have the last laugh?

Keep in mind, too (sorry Sherri, not to give you further nightmares) Trump is also planning how to counteract a possible loss in 2020. He has already started to rumble if that were to occur. What scares me to death, if that eventuality should transpire, Trump will not go quietly into the good night. I discussed this very eventuality with a friend this weekend and he agrees it could happen that way.

And here I always marvelled at how smooth our transitions were: Unlike some foreign countries (and I have seen this behavior firsthand), we never had rioting in the streets, nor bloodshed, post elections.

Until now.

i had not heard of that museum. we actually have the visionary art museum. chicago has Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art

Americans are so uneducated. presidents dont get to claim the successes or falures of their first year as relates to overall USA. so obama inherited a terrible economy. its been getting better ever since. dow went from about 6k to about 24k under obama and down and then up a few thou under trump, but they think it was in spite of O and because of T. SMH. and what t has done is at the expense of a supremley high national debt from which i dont think we will ever recover.
his base sees the lies he tells and that he's doing stuff about them. (ie keeping "illegals" out - they arent illegal till they are either denied entry (which they are now - illegally - by not being allowed to ask for assylum) or sneak in (which they are being forced to with the way they are treated). they think they are better off with companies being allowed to pollute cause they are stupid enough to think that will bring jobs (or they own the companies and are happy). it goes on and on. as long as white men LOOK like they are winning, his base is stupid enough to be happy, as they can not see how it affects them. or the dont GAF - i've got my medicare, i dont care about my kids and grands.

it makes me more depressed...

Sigh. I don't even know where to begin. Great editorial and wonderful response. Yes, this is his 2020 strategy, but I'm not convinced the base he is playing to has the numbers he'll need to win 2020. And I thin his racist rants has lost more of his followers than he has gained. Of course, there are still those who only care that the economy is doing well and will just treat him as an ill-mannered boy and shake there heads.

No. Even here in Democratic Maryland, Dem-controlled gerrymandering is alive and well. My MAGA-bleeding neighbors are outraged that we are part of the northerly gerrymandered expansion of the 8th and thus, have Democratic representation because we are lumped with the inner DC suburbs. Without moving, we also have been in the 2nd, 3rd and 6th over the years.

The 7th (Cummings' district) is traditionally big chunks of largely African-American and very heavily Democratic (over 95%) Baltimore City. However, it extends outward into the GOP-controlled affluent burbs to the north, northeast and west, just enough to weaken the vote of those MAGA-leaning residents.

Here:

We are orange. Cummins is yellow. It's all awfully gerrymandered. The Dems strategy, broadly, is to weaken GOP holds in the outer suburbs by extending tentacles on the map, into very dense and highly Democratic urban areas. Local Republicans have been outraged about this, like forever.

Wonderfully written article - thank you for sharing that!!!

But yes, such a depressing state of things in this nation. I am constantly appalled by what is done by the current administration - and that our taxes are funding it somehow makes me feel responsible, despite the fact that I didn't vote for a single person making these decisions.

UGH.

(Baltimore also houses the Museum of Outsider Art, which is one of the most incredible, thought-provoking museums I've ever seen.)

Honestly, I hate to be right in this instance.

Remember what Trump had said, he could gun down someone in broad daylight on Fifth Avenue and no one would care. I think that's a fair estimation. Pointing out consistently that he is a liar, a misogynist, and a creep, means nothing to the folks who voted for him. They merely shrug and say so what? Anyone else, it would have been his/her downfall, but not him. He is truly the "teflon president". No one cares. Logic evades them. Until they see what happens to their healthcare, and gas prices skyrockets. Till then, well, good luck.

I am hoping that Leticia James in NY is quietly building her case as the new attorney general for the state.

For once, wouldn't it be nice, if the good guys win?

Nu's "Watch" is accurate, horrifying to say. He has a good chance for reelection.

All these goings-on remind me that Americans as a group are under educated and deeply delusional. I'm reminded of an old, daytime TV show with someone named Jerry who had been a mayor or some official of some city. I heard so much about the show and how appalling the "guests" were that, after a couple of years, I watched one day to find out what people were talking about. It was true, the guests and the reason for their having been selected, were appalling. Any sane, reasonable person would have preferred to keep their secrets, not flaunt them on national television. That was the least of it, however. What struck me was the studio audience, most visible and audible. Their derision for the "guests" was equal to or surpassed the ugliness of the latter. The audience clearly felt far above the guests. My takeaway is that they all were interchangeable, punctuated by the audience's self delusions. I hope I've been clear and that this makes sense.

P.S. Mark, Cummings is your rep, is he not?

The Senate is positively gleeful. As "robber barons" they have the biggest baddest robber baron of them all, that is allowing for all the things they ever wanted and prior could not have. It's Christmas every day in the White House.

The only way the Senate will turn 180 degrees is if there is IRREFUTABLE evidence (come on Nadler!) that "The Idiot In Chief" committed "high crimes and misdemeanors" as Nadler believes. If that is the case, the Senate would "possibly" come on board because not to would make them laughingstocks. Not because they would want to see him gone, but just as a question of their own self preservation.

Again, watch.

However, that would entail compassion for people hard stop - he has none.

he gets more notice with acting as his own racist self. he could still win again the same damn way he won the last election - eletoral college by states that represnt hundreds of thousands rather than the millions who dont want him. it will take the "did not vote" "dont like her" "not my preferred candidate" to get off their duff and vote for whomever is up.

this president doesnt care about dividing the country or making things worse. whats worse is over half the senate apparently agrees with him.

i am depressed.

A whole region is an a total uproar. Nothing more and nothing less. Accused of racism, justifiably, two weeks ago, our BIC (Bigot in Chief) doubles-down and becomes still more racist.

The irony is that as President he has the power to effectuate meaningful change for the residents of the City he rebukes and other similar places. However, that would entail compassion for people who have less, are of a different skin pigmentation and tend not to vote for Republicans. So he doubles down, because when he waffles even a little, Fox News eggs him on.

What is revealed is his utter hatred and disdain for persons of color. His bigotry could not be laid more bare. Even Archie held back with George and Wheezie. But no not our BIC.
Political scholars will look on all of this in wonderment, in decades to come.

Wow. And we have a hashtag too. #WeAreBaltimore
