Drills! Drills! Drills! from Cheeky Girls Productions is good for your basic drills. I would recommend it for drilling the basic moves so that you have them in your muscle memory and can move with them.

I also love Rachel Brice's Arm dvd and Serpentine dvd. They are higher level though so don't expect to make it through them completely the first time. If you are looking for a specific style I would have you go to the Cheeky Girl Production and the World Dance New York websites. Both production companies produce good quality dvds and most have a short youtube preview you can watch.

Dolphina was actually my very first belly dance teacher! I am a fitness professional and during one of my continue education conferences way back in the 1990's, she offered the Goddess Workout. I just had to take it - and it changed my life forever! I became totally addicted to belly dance - and now, it's my life!

A lot of the more serious dancers will probably turn up their noses at this suggestion, but if you want very basic and very simple, Veena & Neena and Dolphina are beginner (or out-of-practice) dancer friendly. You'll get a workout, but not a grueling one.

If you want to suffer and REALLY get a workout, Asharah and Rachel Brice's videos will have you hobbling around the house the next day, but they're a bit much to just jump in with.

I wouldn't mind at all, lol. although i might have to take a break from all exercise until my back heals. I'm working with my chiro, and sometimes i'm happy if i can stretch. but i'd still love the link. thanx.

Hi there,

I hope I don't come off as self promoting here, but if you're interested in advanced technique and patterns that you can use in your choreographies or to train with, I just released a brand new DVD (Advanced Techniques and Playful Patterns, Volume 1). It incorporates both earthy and airy movements and uses Saidi and Maksum rhythms for training. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send a preview link!

no, no, I do like it. I still rehearse the 1st 2 dances all the time. I just get frusterated trying 2 learn the last one. I like it all. I just don't think she breaks it down enough. and the shimmy drills are great.

Sorry you did not like it. I used the shimmy drills for months and months.

Reached my goal November 2009!

Weight Watchers worked for me and now I work for Weight Watchers.

It is a life style, not a life sentence.

Heart Beat of Belly Dance has some great shimmy drills and two very easy short choreographies.

I was wandering if anyone knows of a dvd with easy belly dancing drills and choreography dances for someone coming back into belly dance. some of Jillinas stuff is too complicated for someone just coming back into it.

would love the help. thanx.
