I'll join! I did find out from Michelle at the LJ Rec center that you can send the facts an email and they will put your race on their calendar but I didn't know that before. I now just go to ljfat.com and find them all! I'm happy about the Brazoria County Team!

You can get to the Brazoria County Group from my page. It should be one of the first teams posted! It aggravates me that The Facts doesn't keep tabs on what races are coming up. Wish they would add them to the calender or something so it would be easier to find the local ones. I'll make sure to make your run next year for sure!!

Also you can look on ljfat.com and there you can find the local races. We put ours on there. There were three from October to November in Lake Jackson. There was one on Surfsside in January, one in Angleton in February and then ours. West Columbia is thinking of having one. I guess the rest will show up on ljfat.

Hey...I live in outside of Brazoria! We looked into the Road Runners group but their website is locked out because the guy that ran it passed away and no one knows the password so it is not updated. It seems to me like most of them are very involved in LJFAT anyway. I'm a rookie runner and they are wayyyyy advanced for me. They are very nice though. Tell me about your team! I didn't see it! Gosh the weather WAS crazy! We stood under the pavilion until 6:15 while the lightning crashed and rain poured. I was praying, Lord, please don't let us get struck by lightning. Actually a truck on Hwy 36 did get struck and burned up! The rain let up and we started setting up right as the clock struck time for registration. We still got it all done and the race started on time. It was our first race. Went pretty well except for the fact that one of the fast runners turned a little dyslexic and did a u-turn around a right turn arrow sign and other fast runner just followed him. One guy was pretty upset and wanted his time fixed. Of course that couldn't be, but the rest of them laughed it off. After them no one else took a wrong turn and it turned out well. Because of that some that would not have had good enough times won so that was fun for them! I guess part of running a race is playing close attention to the route isn't it. The route was also marked on the pavement with huge arrows. Four of them approaching the turn they missed. Big arrows! 3ft long by 2 ft wide. The sad thing is they stepped on them all the way up to the sign and never looked at them. They all just followed the guy that misread the sign. I told that guy that from now on he needs to wear a sign on his back that says "don't follow me!"....haha

I'm in Lake Jackson. We have started to do more of the races around the area. Right now I'm training for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer....a lot of walking!! The weather was crazy Saturday morning. I am also the leader of the Brazoria County team...although it is quieter then this one is! But when you know of any other races, let me know so I can post them there too...or come join us!!

ahhh...wish you could have come! We did have a good turnout. 143 registered by end of registration, inspite of the crazy weather! Right before the race it was lightning and raining like crazy! But stopped in time for the race! Whew! It was our first race. I was told by someone in the know that for our area 125 is an average number for races. So I guess we did good! Runners and walkers alike seemed to have a good time and are asking us to do it again next year. Do you live close to us?

Exercising has sure been life changing for me! I have found myself to be race director of our first annual 5K Run/ Walk in Brazoria, TX. I invite everyone to come out and either walk or run this with us! It will be a historical run/walk past historic sites and across our old 1939 triple truss bridge that spans the Brazos River. There is a costume contest also for those interested. Following the race will be a full day of Heritage Day activities. You can find a registration form on www.brazoriahf.org Thanks all!
