I can't join in on putting away the fitness equipment. I have just got really involved in it and I am not able to step back at this time. I however think last month, I needed this badly, the scale was a real depression to myself.

wow we have 199 members now...when i joined we had 4..lol

but i noticed that when we get new members we only hear from most of them when they introduce themselves and then we never hear from them again.

maybe we need to do another...team appreciation day...where we motivate our teammates mica. or something... something to encourage our teammeates and let them know that this team is the right place for them to be.

its not as if they are just inactive to the whole spark site..they communicate with the other teams they are one but never take out the time to let us know that they are here with the slimming club as well... so maybe we should analize this team while tenietsha is gone and figure out how we can get much of our team mates to show slimming club faith.

just a suggestion.

i need to appoligize to this group. I haven't been much of a motivator lately. right now my health is such that just walking is pretty painful (lungs hurt) and I haven't been motivated to do much of anything around my house. as for the challenge i will have to start fresh with the next one because i'm not losing any weight. I am sorry for not motivating all of you like i did the last challenge Go red team!!! hehe i know that challenge is over but they are still a team to me. we all are I just fell off the wagon for a bit. my doctor said i have to not do anything until i see her on monday. But i wanted you all to know that you are all still special to me and i haven't given up. i just had to find other things to motivate me too. which i have updated my sparkpage so please tell me what you think.

Shawn:
Have you tried Stevia? It is a natural herb and it only takes a little, tiny bit. I get it at my local grocery store. The name brand is Stevita. You can also find it at health food stores and online.

I really like the taste. The key is to start with only 1/8 teaspoon and taste. Then add a tiny bit more until you know how much you like in your tea.

Stevia is only bitter if you use too much. At normal amounts it isn't bitter at all. Let me know if you like it.

Shawn625, the popping is from the fluid in your joints moving around. it is normal when you start using them more. however they should never be painful. if they are let your doctor know.

I just wanted you to know that I will only be able to get online once a day for a while due to the fact that my computer is in the shop and my BF uses his for work so I can only use it at night. I am going to do the challenge I wrote everything down so i can post it when I can. I will also be out of town from july 23 to july 27 for a family event so i wont have access to a computer. everything will be posted when i get back and I am doing the challenge to the end of july. I hope that everyone has a great time while I am gone. be safe and I will see you all in the next few days before i leave and then when i get back.

Sodium is the very worst for me, too! I have high blood pressure, so I watch it for that, but I have an ankle that will swell horribly if I take in too much sodium also. My kids tell me that it's not cool is your legs don't match!

The hardest thing I've ever had to do was to lower the amount of sodium I was consuming. I had no idea how much was in the foods I was eating! It's kind of gross when you think about it!

I'm retaining a lot of water so I'm trying to find ways to reduce my sodium but MAN it seems every recipe I use has high sodium!

If I can do it Nautica, so can you. I have never walked as much as I did this past week, and I realized that I am more motivated than I imagined I was. It does help that I have steps to my apartment that I can go up and down multiple times at 5 am and everyone is still sleeping and is oblivious.

Sounds like you are doing great! I agree that going on a 3 mile walk is the best feeling ever!

I know you guys are gonna start trying to encourage me to come if I don't post a few messages so I'm here! I've been working my buns off these past few days trying to get my apartment habitable. Talk about cardio! I walked 3 miles for the first time since my birth and it was amazing! I have a lot to lose, but I am gaining something I never thought I needed. SELF ESTEEM AND A WILLINGNESS TO GET OFF MY RUMP!

Do you think you might be building some muscle and that is offsetting some of your weight loss in the short term? I know that any gain is really upsetting when you've been working hard, but there has to be a reason. I truly believe that if you are following the Spark plan and logging in your foods, etc., that the losses will come, but maybe not when you expect it.

Are you drinking lots of water? If you don't drink the water, your body will begin to panic and store water for later. Trust me, if I don't drink at least 8 cups a day, my left ankle begins to noticably swell. Drink the water and I have a thinner ankle.

If I were you, I would go to the message boards and put in an urgent message under nutrition or needs help and let a Spark nutritionist weigh in on this as well. And let us know what he/she says.

(((((HUGS))))) Hang in there. It's going to get better!

I'm very upset. I weighed myself and I'm gaining weight. In the last week or two, I've gained back 14 of the 32 I lost. I don't know what the heck is going on. I've increased my activity and I've lowered my calorie intake. If anything, I'm on the low end of my range. I'm beside myself and don't know what to do.

Nautica is right, a knee brace could help a lot. If you find that you don't get enough relief, continue on a treadmill if that works for you. But, don't hurt yourself!

A friend of mine is a Physical Therapist and he swears that lots of his patients have been helped by taking Glucosamine and Chondroitin because it helps to support the cushioning cartiledge in the knees. I take a brand called Osteo Bi-Flex (triple strength) that I get at Wal-Mart. You only take 2 pills a day and over time, my knees have gotten stronger and less sore feeling on stairs, etc. Maybe that could help you over the long run. Only don't take it if you have a seafood allergy, as I think that the chondroitin part comes from seafood shells.

Keep thinking positive thoughts! Lots of us feel sore joints or muscles as we begin to move more. As you get stronger, the pain will go away. Before you know it, your blog posts will start, "I can remember how much my knees hurt when I was first starting out...."

With me waiting so late to sign them up a lot of things are full. I will try more of the local churches and see what they have. I had a baby March 30, which delayed me getting them signed up for anything. I did find one church that has a camp for 8-14, but it excludes my oldest. I am seeing if maybe he could volunteer at the church. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Are there anay youth church groups in the area? I don't know where you live but here in SC many churches have weekly or even daily activities for the teens. Maybe they could do some volunteer type work for elderly neighbors, etc.

Where I live, both the YMCA snd the Boys & Club have counselor in training type programs for kids too old to camp. They get out of the house, learn some leadership skills and still get to have the fun that comes with camp activities. It will look good on their college applications when that time comes, too.

There are not camps for kids over 13. I went to the YMCA and got a brochure to see what they offer. They have a traveling basketball team and then once August comes they will have football with the high school. One positive is that they have an interview at the Indians stadium.

lets not forget what tenietsha tells every one.... theres plenty of reasons women fluctuate throughout the month...look at all the possibilities before you go thinking you did wrong. i suggest asking tenietsha to help make a meal schedule and have her suggest your daily intake.... she did mines, and i have been losing weight every since, except during my mentrual im about 2 or 3 lbs heavier than usual.

I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on what a 15 and 14 year old could do for the summer. I took them around to put in job applications and they play at the pool and visit the library. But the are very board and call me at work all day. I want them to have some freedom but not too much. I am leary of letting them go too far from the house when I am not home. But now I feel as if we are stifling them.

What did your fiance say after he watched you clean your upholstery and note what had happened? It seems to me he has a LOT of responsibility in "fixing" it since he had put bleach in the bottle. Don't let it disrupt your weight loss progress...you are doing good and will continue to move forward to your goals!

Just your luck...guess what? My hubby is an auto detailer by trade. I will ask him if there is a fix for this...I remember him telling me one time about apolstry 'paint' which is like a dye. Perhaps he can tell me how to get it. Get back with ya 2nite.
