I have my bib for the HM paid for but I haven't trained much and I have been sick now into the New Year with a horrible cold so if you know of anyone that wants to do the HM but under someone's name I would be willing to sell it cheap and make the Drive to HB on Saturday to swap. I did the HM with the group last year.

Well, it's official. I changed my registration from the full to the half marathon, and just in time. Besides being sold out, they're about to lock down the registration info, so I got it done just in time.

For those wondering....I decided that I just won't be ready to do a full marathon again in a month. I haven't been able to get my training mileage up to where it should be for a full, so I made a decision to see if I could change to the half.

There's always next year for the bigger surfboard medal.

Good Morning Girls...

Sorry you missed registration Leah...after the crowd last year, I knew this year would be a sell out!!! I'm not running but I am going to try to be there to support my girls...I'm running the 13.1 Los Angeles on 1/10 and then the New Orleans on 2/28...

I know for sure Mary, Erica and Janey will be running San Francisco in July...again I'm not running but am planning on being there to cheer them on...I am running the Napa to Sonoma 1/2 the week before with Nancy...this should gear us up for Hood to Coast in August!!!

Kim, you will love the 1/2 marathon distance...it is just challenging enough to make you work for it but not as challenging as a full marathon!!! I have done 5 1/2s and have loved them all!!!

I started a meetup group for this team if you want to join so you can keep up with our races and other social meetups...

Happy New Year!!!

Hi Leah,
I was thinking of running the SFO and Long Beach HM but I wanted to wait to see how I do at Surf City. It will be my first HM. I've only done 10k's up until this point. Now I'm thinking maybe I should sign up now.....

Oh man, I just went to register and it is sold out!!! URGH! Oh well, that just means it wasn't meant to be. 3 events in 6 weeks might be too much on the family anyways! Good luck to everyone racing!!! Who is gonna run the San Francisco Half??? I am thinking about registering NOW! LOL!

This will be my first HM...I signed up a couple of days ago and already have my plane tickets! I love running down there. I used to live in Huntington Beach years ago. I live in Washington State now....I hope to meet all of you at the race.

I know what you mean about the surfboard medal - it is totally cool and I will want to wear it around for a day or so!

I'm doing a five day per week training program, and feeling good so far. I have an 18 mile run this weekend, my longest yet. Stay strong!!

I'm already registered for it.. Did it when I registered for Long Beach. Not sure what was in my head, but I'm set to the do the full for this one this time.

The course for the full goes further into the residential area than the half, going all of the way to Central Park. Still the majority of the course, both full and half are along PCH.

I guess, maybe I just need the bigger surfboard medal to add to my collection.

Welcome to the team, Leah!

Surf City Half is a loop on PCH with a jaunt up into a neighborhood along the way at about Mile 3 or 4. The neighborhood is hilly, mostly up and down. PCH itself is mostly rolling inclines with an ocean view. The Marathon course heads down to the boardwalk along the ocean.

There's good course support, a big expo - just a tad smaller than Long Beach, and several Sparkers there to work toward their CA Dreamin' Series Medal and others will be there for support.

There's also a race for free option by raising $500 for the Free Wheelchair Mission. If you sign up through the charity site, they hold a space in the race for you.

It's worth it for the extra bling, I think. I'll finish the series in San Fran this summer.

I am seriously contemplating doing this half! Had such a great time in Long Beach...why not? LOL!! Is the course mostly flat? Anything noteworthy? Fill a girl in!

I'm debating doing the Half again - just to get the cool long sleeve race shirt. I got mine dirty on the Grand Canyon Hike. LOL!
