I saw a girl fall right in front of me in green but I don't think it was on the bridge and she said she was fine. Sorry your friend was that hurt!

And sorry we missed you. Lots of us were there till late.

I don't know my official time, as it didn't matter to me in this race due to my AT pain. But I did something like 2:52 for the Half. It was my fourth and slowest by about 30 minutes.

But I am so happy I FINISHED!

How did everyone do? My time was slow due to my running partner's major fall on the bridge just past mile 4! She really tore up her knee, but she kept going. I'm going to post a picture of it this week. If you saw a girl in a bright green shirt with blood running down her leg, that was her!!

Denise - I too am getting really excited. Last week I was not so much but you are right with Robin just finishing her first, and Nancy next week and a whole bunch of Sparks in LB how can you not get pumped up? I had a great long run today and the weather was gorgeous so I am ready. Not going to break any records but I am content to just go and do it, however fast or slow it may be.

Can't wait to see all of you and meet a lot of you for the first time!

I'm late in joining the thread! Been lurking lately. But I'm back and super excited now that my runs have been back up to par lately.

I am definitely running LBHM next Sunday. I have been planning on not staying in LB Sat night, but am starting to change my mind. I would really like to join everyone on Saturday night for dinner. I need to see what DH is up to before committing to anything yet. I already told him I wasn't staying overnight in LB for the HM. I don't think it will be a problem, but I need to be considerate of his needs too. I do look forward to seeing you all at the Expo on Sat at least, and dinner may be possible even if I don't stay overnight.

Jackie, do you still have space available?

De

hey, they just added another pre-paid dinner option for people in the area Saturday night. $20 for your choice of several different restaurants on one street... details on the website.

Hope you all have enjoyable runs this weekend! Happy tapering!! 12 for me tomorrow, and I'll be testing out new shoes to see if they will be good for the 11th. ????? Cheers!

Jackie: you sound really pumped! Sorry to hear about the knee and foot pain - I'm thinkin' it's par for the course. My left knee started complaining about mile 13 this morning, and then some heel pain followed... I think I need new shoes (great time to break in a new pair, eh?), but I got it done!

Best of luck to everyone for the last few weeks of training!

Hey Patty!!!

Hope your run went well!!!

I did 20 last week and it was wonderful!!! This week I was scheduled to do 22...the first 10 were awesome...then I started to get some weird pains in my left foot and right knee/IT area and decided I was going to cut it short after about mile 14...I made it to 18 and then walked the last 1/2 mile!!! After an ice bath, I felt sooo much better!!! I figured I would try to get out for another few miles today and see how I felt!!!

I walk .75 miles, ran 4 and then walked another .75...I felt great...probably could have done another 2...during breakfast I started to get a weird feeling on the top of my foot and up my leg a little (maybe 2-3 inches above my ankle)...doesn't hurt to walk but is uncomfortable when I flex my foot!!! I'm icing it now and I'll see how it feels in the morning!!! All things considered...I feel pretty confident about completing the marathon!!!

Hope everyone had a great long run this weekend and is getting ready to taper!!!

Jackie!!!

I just made reservations to have dinner at "Buono's Authentic Pizzaria" on Saturday night. They're offering a deal for runners (I found it on the LB Marathon site), so we are going to take advantage of that.

My dh is 6'2" with a metabolism like a furnace, and so far he can never seem to get enough calories in him to fuel a whole marathon... I'm sure he will keep trying!

Cheers!

Hi runners! Thanks for putting up this thread, Jackie! I'll be there ready to (hopefully) complete my 3rd full this year... My dh and I will be staying in L.B. Saturday night and will make myself available to meet whoever whenever! I love getting together with fellow Spark members, and meeting some California Spark runners would be extra cool!!

I did 18 on Sunday (supposed to be Saturday, but I gave myself an extra day to get over the bug I got after Disneyland...), and will run 20 this weekend. Then it's taper time!

Stay healthy, train well and run strong!

I'll be there too. I'll be running my second full this time. I'm starting to get a bit anxious because my long runs haven't been going quite as well as I would have liked, but I did do 22 miles of the OC Marathon with a bleeding foot and still finished so logic tells me I should be fine. Race day the mind body due tend to function better.

Not sure if I'll be getting my race packet friday or saturday yet. If I do go Saturday it will likely be with kids in tow, but I'd love to hook up with anyone there.

I will be running the half on Sunday! Anthony has a swim meet the same weekend so I will most likely do packet pickup on Friday! At least his meet is in Seal Beach, so I will be close enough for lunch or dinner! I hope to see more of my teammates new and old!

I would love to meet up but will not be staying in Long Beach... looks like DH and I will be commuting in on Friday for packet pick-up and then Sunday for the race. A Friday night dinner would be great!

I'm doing the 1/2 and finishing my Dreamin' series, but I'm not feeling the excitement - yet!

I'll be there...running my first FULL!!! I am super excited and a little nervous!!! I'm going to be staying in Long Beach on Saturday and would love to get the team together for lunch or dinner!!!

I know people will be picking up race packets on Friday and Saturday but it would be really nice to meet as a team and get some non-sweaty photos!!! LOL!!!

I would also love to meet up after the race but since I'm running the full I'm not sure how many people will want to stick around!!!

After my experiences with this team for Long Beach, Surf City and San Francisco...I am sooo excited to see the team grow!!! Can't wait to meet some of you for the first time!!!

Just 26 more days!!! Wooo Hoooo!!!!
