Meant this to be posted yesterday... I logged my food, stayed within calories, and oh, btw, ran 20 miles! All in all a very good day!

Today, I ran 9 miles with my running partner. At the first mile, my shins were killing me but I was able to stretch them out and finish the run without pain. We ran along the beach- what a beautiful morning. emoticon

Today I blogged my frustration but ended on a positive note with how I can change things to make a difference in the next week. I am trying to focus on the positive changes that I'm making rather than the negative.

Great Job Ladies!!!

This is a great thread!!! I love hearing our daily victories, big and small!!!

I have been struggling with Friday night binges so I am proud of myself for planning my meals and snacks and feel confident I will have a successful night!!!

Also proud of myself for making every effort to help my aunt with business errands this week to lighten her load!!! She is hard to deal with so it take lots and lots of patience on my part to deal with her!!! I think running is helping me to deal with her!!!

Hope everyone had a successful day!!!

Today, even though I didn't want to crawl out of bed , I got up and went to a Spin class (trying for some cross training). It was tough but I stuck with it and I feel great now. What a way to start the morning.

With only a handful hours of sleep this morning and running super late, I STILL made it to my a.m. strength training class, even though I didn't want to!

I have no idea how I survived it, but I did. I'm so glad I went and I did feel tons better after the class, even though my eyes were about to shut on the way home.

Today I ran my first 5k race. I jogged the whole thing at my 12 minute mile pace. Having only run on the treadmill for training and completing the c25k program I was a little worried about maintaining my pace without the machine telling me how fast I was going. But I did it!! I finished the race at 38:04. My goal was to finish under 40 minutes. So... that is what I have done today to make me FEEL PROUD! :)

I absolutely HATE running! But, because today was such a nice day, I decided to go out running, and I went for 20 minutes for the 1st time (about 2 miles). Yay! I remember just last spring, I was struggling to run .25 miles. I'm proud that not only did I do an extra workout on a Sunday, which is usually my rest day, but also proud that the extra workout was running! :-D Ah, progress!

Jackie, emoticon ! I'm sorry to hear about your truck being vandalized again. And, all of the rest going on. It is not pleasant to deal with. Take heart, I do think the 401k will rebound...it won't be soon, and it will recover. Sometimes things aren't positive...plain and simple, there is evil in the world. I do hope moving your truck around and changing up the routine eliminates the vandalism.

Today, I'm proud that I kept my word to myself by going to the gym. I went to do upper body ST and get back into my ST routine slowly and surely. Well, I got on the treadmill...I really felt like I needed to run. I found out someone I know has cancer yesterday and it is quite sudden and doesn't have much time on this earth. It breaks my heart. His older kids are about the age of my older ones. Well, I just started with a walk and told myself after a half mile walk i would run and just see where it goes...I ended up running a 5k and felt sooo good. It just felt very freeing and I was happy that my hips were not hurting, which has been the problem since my third child. Anyway, I'm rambling...sorry.

I'm proud I ran a 5k. (condensed version) LOL.

Thanks Elsa... I really need my badge today!!!

Proud of myself for keeping a positive attitude even though things around me are very negative!!!

It seems like everything from my truck being vandalized to finding out a family member stabbed me in the back again to my calf injury of the last few weeks and the ongoing problem with my water heater and let's not talk about my poor dwindling 401K, are all working together to throw me off course but I'm not giving in!!!

I will stay positive even if it kills me!!!

Hi Everyone,

Happy Hum Day! Jackie, your time in the half-marathon was fantastic! My first was 2:32 and the 3 I did afterwards were actually slower. Not the way to do it for sure!

I am in a great mood today because I weighed in and I have lost 3 more pounds this week. That makes 8 for October and 26.5 since I joined SP. My running is starting to improve and I can go a lot further than 13 weeks ago that's for sure!

I hope you all have a great day. I know I will!

Hi Annie!!! Sorry for my late reply!!! I was running a little ole 1/2 marathon!!! LOL!!! You can add sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium to your tracker to see if you are getting enough minerals in your diet!!!

I completed my first 1/2 marathon in 2:18:46!!! I started strong but my calf started cramping at mile 6!!! I finished with a good time but not as fast as I would have liked!!!

I can't begin to list all the proud moments...they are better saved for a blog!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Hey Candi!!! Good luck with your training!!! November 15th is coming up pretty soon!!!

Thanks for the info...I have been reading everything available and getting lots of conflicting information!!! What I read about last night and tried this morning was drinking 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water!!! Not sure if that's what knocked the pain out or if it was all the other stuff I have been doing but it actually feels better right now!!!

I drink tons of water and track my electrolytes so I don't think that is the cause...it's more likely overuse and lack of stretching that started the problem!!!

I'm proud of myself for not giving up on myself or on my hope/dream for being able to race on Sunday!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Hi Everyone!

Jackie, I will be thinking of you next weekend and wishing you well. I ran the Sacramento Cowtown Half-Marathon last October (did the 5-K yesterday) and during the last half mile my right calf cramped up so bad that I barely was able to limp to the finish line. Then I had a massage right afterwards which I believe hurt it even more. I had to stop running for several weeks until it healed. (We won't talk about how many pounds I put on during that time!) I read up a lot about muscle cramps and no one seems to agree on what causes them but everyone thinks they know! There seems to be some consensus though that dehydration (not enough water in the days before or during the actual run) plays a big part. I think next time I am going to make sure I get enough electrolytes in the days before and during the run and see if I can keep it from happening again. I am trying to get fit enough to do the new Run the River Half-Marathon on November 15th. It goes from William Pond Park in Sacramento to Discovery Park along the American River Bike Trail. Should be a great run!

Check back with us and let us know how you do!

Good Afternoon Ladies!!!

Oh my goodness Elsa!!! You are amazing!!! I had no idea you would be riding for close to 8 hours!!! Kinda makes my little 2+ hours run seem like a walk in the park!!! LOL!!!

As for me, my calf cramped again on yesterday's run...it was supposed to be my last long run before the race and I barely made it to the first mile and had to walk home!!! Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed and frustrated!!!

I called my massage therapist was soon as I got home and she was able to see me yesterday!!! She told me I should be fine to run on Sunday and we worked out a treatment/training plan for the week!!! I am taking Arnica as well as 800 mg of Motrin 4 times a day, I added chewable calcium 2 times a day, I am using a Castor Oil pack twice a day and rubbing Traumeel into the area throughout the day!!! I saw the chiropractor last Monday and may go back Thursday if necessary!!!

I am proud of myself for keeping a positive attitude and staying in the solution instead of focusing on the problem!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Jackie!!!

Hi Everyone,

Jackie, I can believe that only less than 1% of the population has run a half marathon! That's really hard stuff and you can totally be proud of it. I can't imagine what it's like to have such an accomplishment meet! It must be euphoric to accomplish such an athletic run...myself, I would be proud even if it meant crawling over the finish line! You've mentioned all your preparations; you've worked hard for it and your efforts will be meet with high dividends!

Have you tried chiropractic and/or acupuncture for you calf? Both may really help with that calf...gosh, I can't imagine running with such pain. I've experienced cramps in the center of my stomach when riding long miles and it stops me to a crawl...sooo painful. I really hope it heals up for you before your magnificent run! Be sure to get someone to take lots of pics.

may your week go with ease meeting the business and training demands!

As for my century, I just returned from the event! I'm proud to say I finished. I did my best and am proud of it!

A century is a 100 miles and this one was routed at about 105 miles. This particular event is my first attempt at a century. It has no hills..a plus for a newbie such as myself, and it was well supported. I had no clue as to what to expect myself, and I'm certain it's never the same anyways. It had breaks and lunches planned for 30 milers, 60 milers (known as a metric), and 100 milers (century). I took the first break at 20 something miles. I would be stopping for lunch somewhere along the route. Unfortunately, I lost my route directions, but thought it would be okay since they spray painted arrows and messages on the street. So, I could just look down and follow the road. Well, at 50-ish i saw a note on the road that said lunch would be soon. I kept biking and somehow, I missed the lunch point. I stopped at 82 miles and cked with my husband who had been waiting for me for a couple of hours. He had back tracked my route to see if he could find me...he and my kids are my "Ride Support Team." lol. He was worried to not find me...but of course, I was ahead since I cycled beyond. I breaked at 92 miles and got a quick peanut butter and jelly sandwich for fuel and refilled water bottles, etc. I biked on encouraged that the end was near. To make a long story short, I missed the sign that pointed me to the direction of the end. I kept following the 100 arrows and started looping again. After several, not so nice calls to my DH, who really is amazingly loving, supportive, and patient, he found me! And I wasn't willing to have the car take me in, so he paced in front of me and I cycled at about 20 mph to the ck-in! In all I completed 112.98 miles and did it all by myself...well, a little help with my beautiful husband and the GPS in the end. lol! According to my bike's computer, I did it in 7hr 49 mins. and some secs.

I'm not the fastest by any means, and was a bit disappointed at first that my friends went on without me. They wanted to go at least 18 mph and I just couldn't sustain it. And, it all worked out for the best. I was able to do complete it and when I started this, I didn't even know if I would make it to the finish. My longest ride had been 58 miles to prepare for this event. I don't think I was the slowest either, and I know one thing, I have perseverance in a HUGE WAY! At the 82 something mark, my friends caught up to me because they took lunch break and other breaks. I realized that I bike 60 something miles without stopping...and I did parts of it at a really nice, quick pace! With everything going on in my life, I prepared the best I could. I showed up, fearing cold and rain, which was forecasted but not what I experienced. I learned to show up is half or more of the battle. And then, to just do my best without judgment!

I thought of Spark many times and all the friends I have on here and the support I get from all of you. I would cycle and tell myself I was doing it for me and all of the friends I have on Spark working hard to meet their individual goals the best they can. I thought of my mom fighting ovarian cancer and how much pain she went through and how often she probably wanted to quit and had...I told myself I wouldn't quit...and a part of me was doing it for her as well.

So, it's done and I've completed one of my goals for myself! And, I get the I "Rockin'" badge....and thanks, Jackie, I'll take the beautiful, Stellar badge as well. LOL How cute!

Thanks everyone for the support!
hugs

"Less then one-tenth of 1% of the world's population has ever dared to run a distance of a 1/2 marathon or greater."

Proud to be in that one-tenth of 1%...or a least I will be after next weekend!!!

Good Morning Ladies!!!

Elsa I never did ask you, but how long does it take to ride 100 miles???? I don't even have a concept of what it is your are going to be doing this weekend!!! I am super excited to read the details of your event!!! I'm sure you will be STELLAR!!! emoticon

My proud moment for today was dealing with some business paperwork early this morning to prepare myself for a meeting this afternoon!!! Instead of putting the meeting off and stressing and complaining about it for the next few days, I decided to get it over with today!!!

Seems with only 12 days until I run my 1/2 marathon things have been getting super crazy!!! Not only do have I injured my calf and need to adjust my taper/training plan but I found out there are two major deadlines I need to meet on some business in that time too!!!

I'm taking everything in stride and doing the best I can with what is in front of me today!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Jackie!!!

he everyone!

I got some short rides in this past weekend! 16 Saturday and 21 on Sun. I got to ride with a friend in Santa Rosa on Sunday. It was really nice and it seemed really short having a friend to chat with.

I'm proud at how much better I'm doing cycling up short inclines. I'm getting better and better going up..."love my hills!" lol. I felt really strong and am feeling rather confident about my century. It's on Oct 4....and I'm looking forward to it!

Jackie, you still maintain the badge...anyone running that many miles with a cramp in their calve deserves the "rockin" badge for sure. lol And, I'm working to get the badge come Saturday. lol

Well, I'm off to get a bunch of stuff done. I'm preparing car and have to get all my supplies ready for bike, etc.

Everyone have a great day!

Good Afternoon Ladies!!!

Thank you Elsa...I will wear my badge proudly until it is time to hand it to the next deserving CALI DREAMER, which I'm guess will be you in a few short day!!!

Elsa I am sooooo excited for you!!! Take it easy and enjoy your taper!!! You have earned and deserve it!!!

My proud moment for today was when I approached my street at 4.75 miles I did not turn and go home but finished my 7 mile tempo run!!! I had a cramp in my right calf and really wanted to call it a day but knew I would be kicking myself if I did, so I pushed on and finished with a great time and a sore calf!!! I have a bag of frozen peas stuck in my sock to keep it iced until I get home!!! LOL!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Candi, 5 miles is awesome! What a way to rebound!

Jackie, cool on the 12 miles. What an accomplishment! You are ready for your marathon...you've been preparing at such a steady pace with amazing dedication! okay, you get the "I Rock!" badge for the day!

Today, I rode 56.74 miles....and survived not getting hit/clipped by cars! I could use some serious venting on that topic! Like they own the road or something. Anyways, this is now my longest ride to date. My century is just a week and a half a way and i will not be riding come wedneseday to rest for the event. I soooo wanted to get to 60 miles...i could just see it. And, I ran out of time. So, I'm happy and I'm moving forward!

Everyone have a great week!

I'm feeling pretty good today. I ran with my running group on Saturday and finally was able to do 5 miles again.

I also spent all day yesterday being active mostly due to painting a new fence and re-painting some benches. Everything looks so nice!

Have a fantastic week everyone. Happy First Day of Fall too!

Elsa good for you staying focused and on track and taking care of your needs!!!

My proud moment for today was getting out for a 7 mile tempo run!!! Even though I didn't run as fast as I was supposed too, according to my training plan, it was still a good run!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Jackie, that's funny! Hope your upper body is holding out okay.

Okay, I'm proud today for getting a 32 mile ride in! And then making it to an important evening meeting. Those were two important things for me today...actually, it was my whole day, and they contributed to my physical, emotional, and spiritual well being.

hope everyone has had a great day!

Good Evening Everyone!!!

My proud moments from yesterday were getting both my mammogram and Barium enema (colon cancer screening) done!!! The prep really is worst than the test!!!

My proud moments for today were a nice 3 mile recover run this morning and yoga this evening after work...it's funny, I went to yoga instead of the gym because I didn't feel like doing upper body and what do you think the instructor focused on in tonights class...ARM BALANCES AND UPPER BODY WORK!!! LOL!!!

Hope everyone had a great day!!!

Yesterday's proudness is getting back out on my road bike even if it was a short ride. And, making a home made dinner rather than going out!

Good Morning Elsa!!!

Have you not seen the Biggest Loser??? I think that is the most inspiring show on television!!! The new season starts on Tuesday the 16th... if you haven't seen it before, I would highly recommend it!!!

My proud moment from yesterday was spending the day gong through my mother's things with my brother...we managed to get through one closet which filled up both our trucks with stuff we were taking!!! Also proud of myself for getting out to run before we started...I really think it put me in a better frame of mind!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Jackie, Thanks for sharing the BL song...I don't recall it. I can't get the link to work on my laptop...but I'm going to try it on another of our computers. I am looking forward to hearing it! I am going to print it out and take it with me for my century. It will encourage me. Great job on your training! You're really knocking those miles out!

I'm proud today for continuing my training and sticking with my eating. I really was tired and wanted to skip spin tonight. I rushed from work to daycare, picked up my little guy, and we headed straight to the Y. I'm proud for just getting myself there and doing it.
I also got sooo frustrated earlier. And I noticed I wanted to eat chocolate or anything...and as soon as I noticed what I was doing, I left the house without the chocolate. I just wanted a quick fix to make myself feel better in the instant. I'm soooo glad I didn't eat the sweets out of frustration. This is big step towards breaking my old habits!

Good Morning Ladies!!!

Here are my proud moments...

Proud of myself for running a STRONG 10 miles yesterday and allowing myself to re-fuel freely without worrying about the scale!!! Even though I think I overate somewhat yesterday, I am making the right adjustments!!!

Proud of myself for following my training plan and listening to my body this morning and will take an easy week this week…will re-adjust my calories accordingly and continue to stretch and prepare for my 10K on Sunday

Proud of myself for stopping at Whole Foods on my way to work to pick up a homeopathic treatment for my sore leg

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Good Morning Ladies!!!

Do any of you watch the Biggest Loser??? How inspirational is the opening song!!! Have you listened to the words and applied them to your life????

The Biggest Loser Theme Song : "Proud"
by Heather Small

I look into the window of my mind
Reflections of the fears I know I've left behind
I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same

What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?

Still so many answers I don't know
Realize that to question is how we grow
So I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same

What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?

We need a change
Do it today
I can feel my spirit rising
We need a change
So do it today
'Cause I can see a clear horizon

What have you done today to make you feel proud?
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
'Cause you could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
What have you done today
You could be so many people?
Just make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?

So let's all share our PROUD MOMENTS!!!
