Hey, that's good progress. I'm glad you're able to start doing a little more now and build up to more strenuous stuff as you heal more. So, what are you waiting for? Are you outside or on treadmill walking yet? LOL

another month before I'm free to do whatever my heart desires but I'm able to increase the walking now and do a few exercises with bands (no weights yet). Slowly but surely wins the race. lol Have a great day every one. emoticon

TRIATHALONS~ The base I live on have a challenge...do 10 in a year. At the moment I am doing them all indoors. They have treadmills and stationary bikes on the pool deck. So you swim 400 meters then you get out of the pool and get on the bike and ride 15 miles and then you go to the treadmill and run 3.1 miles! It is pretty nice. They have them outdoors every once in awhile but I haven't done one of them yet! I am still a little to self concious for that. LOL! I am working on it though! That is all I can do....I am taking HUGE steps forward and that is what is important!

wow! 40 pounds! way to go, Madisonsmom1202. I'm looking forward to this year. I foresee no problems this year and stepping up the exercise program this year asap. My doctor checkup this afternoon will let me know how long before I can go full tilt but looking forward to the effort.

It is well with my soul.

MADISONSMOM1202 - 40 pounds is fantastic! You should be very proud of that.

I've never looked into triathalons; now you have me curious. How did you get started in them? Do you have any advice for any on our team who might be interested in checking them out? Thanks for any advice you can share.

Hey there everyone. I am happy to report that I have lost 40lbs. I wanted it to be much more but I am happy with 40! It is a loss and not a gain. I have been struggling since November but I am stepping it up and ready to work hard this summer to loose some more. I have done 5 triathalons this year!! Plan on doing 12 total by Dec. I am also going to the gym tons more then I used to. It is a routine that I enjoy! I have gained friendships and knowledge that I would have never imagined possible. I love this website! I thank GOD for it! I am glad this team is becoming active again!

INVICTUSAC & BRIAN36 - Both of you are doing amazingly well and are real inspirations to me. I have to say I am worried about my ability to maintain without tracking when the time comes. It's good to hear that you've been able to do that -- gives me hope.

Good luck on your new goals too.

My last two goals before my anniversary are to run a sub-30 min. 5k which I am registered for this Saturday and to run my second half marathon which is scheduled for the 18th. This is just the ground work for my year 2 goal of running a full marathon. I have met my weightloss goal and have been successfully maintaining without tracking for 8 months, but I stick around because of all the great people here.

Think highly of yourself because the world takes you at your estimate.

Hey, everyone. Thanks for the reminder email. It's been awhile since I've used SparkPeople, but let me tell you, it's had a HUGE impact on my life.

When I joined, I weighed nearly 200 pounds. I was bummed because I felt uncomfortable in my body and was always a little conscious towards how other people viewed me. However, I figured that joining a well put-together site like this one could help me change things. SparkPeople had taught me to understand my daily calorie intake needs, what to look for in nutritional values, how much more water I should be getting, and what food I should eliminate from my diet!

After about three months here, I lost nearly 30 pounds and achieved my ideal weight of 175. Following that, I realized that I didn't need the website to track my daily food activities or look to others for encouragement. I drifted away from SparkPeople, but the lessons I had learned from it didn't leave me. My activities on this site had become so ingrained into my head that I could control my habits by myself.

Since then, I have lost even more weight (hovering around 160 currently), but more importantly, I've added tone and muscle to my form. I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life, and I'm currently engaged in a workout program that should have me in even better shape for summer!

Had it not been for SparkPeople, it would have taken me much longer to discover my own potential to strengthen my body, increase my health, and enhance my life!

To anyone still engaged in their personal health/fitness journeys, I wish you luck and remember: don't give up! If you stick with it, you really can achieve your goal!!!

What a success story you are, SPATULASARA! Thanks for stopping in and sharing that with us. You must feel fabulous. I checked out your SparkPage just now and love your progress pictures. The difference is just incredible -- you have an entirely new look.

Obviously, you've made SP work for you. Best wishes on your continued progress. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be in maintenance mode before you know it.

Hey all! I just received the sparkmail about our anniversary. Its so hard to believe its almost been a year!! I found Spark people on April 14th, 2008, and I'm still going strong. I'm not as active in the teams as I'd like to be, but I've made it a point to utilize everything Sparkpeople has to offer, especially the Nutrition Tracker.

Since starting on here last April, I've lost 85 pounds! Things have slowed down in the past few months due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances, so I won't reach my big goal of 100 pounds in a year, but I am perfectly happy with what I've accomplished just the same, and I will continue on my journey. I hope to lose another 25-30 pounds, and then start the maintenance program.

I hope everyone else has had a good experience here with sparkpeople. Here's to another year and many more!

You've certainly had a year and then some, Laura. I wish you all the best for the coming year -- after all, isn't our SparkPeople anniversary kind of like the New Year? Looking forward to continuing to help and support each other as we head into Year 2.

I can hardly believe that it's been a year already since I joined SP. The 16th is my exact anniversary date. I've gained information, stratagies, friends, and a better idea of who I am in this body. It's been an amazing year of growth for me, and I'm not talking about poundage. lol I've come to terms with losing my mom, MIL, and aunts all within a year of each other. I've dealt with my 3 surgeries, my daughter's surgery for cervical cancer and my husband's mid-life crisis. I'm so grateful that I've had a forum to be able to share and relieve my burden of cares with others that are in the same boat as I. If I hadn't chosen to join the SP family, I'm positive that I would weigh more and be in worse health than I was a year ago. I'm so grateful for all of my friends here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Laura emoticon

Hi Teammates! I haven't checked in here for a few days so just wanted to say hello. Good to see a couple more joining in on our chats. I like to hear everyone's successes as well as the difficulties as we near our anniversary. You never know who will read your post and how they might be helped or inspired by it...so thanks to all for sharing. It's what keeps us going I think.

p.s. HEAVEN78 - Congratulations on the baby! You sure had quite the year.

Dear Heaven78, no dieting just eat healthy foods and you can exercise. When I lost my baby fat with my daughter 29 years ago now, I joined a gym and the weight just fell off. I gained a lot of my weight when I had my gall bladder removed and then injured my back at work and was unable to move for a couple of years. Now that I'm older the weight just hangs around and it takes a lot of effort just to lose a pound. But I will do this, I will lose the weight that is causing so many health problems for me. You can do it too.

It is well with my soul.

This anniversary is a time of renewal for me. Shortly after joining SP, I became pregnant with my second child. Now, my son is 7 weeks old, and it's time to get back on track. I have about 20 pounds of "baby weight" to lose to be back at my pre-pregnancy weight, which is my first goal. No timeline to that as of yet, since I'm nursing, I have to keep reminding myself that I can't "diet".

Well, I plateau'd a few times, and really stalled around xmas....so I took some time off the work-out stuff. Am re-committing on Monday. STILL...I am VERY happy to say 30 lbs down, and I have maintained since xmas. I would not have been able to do it without Spark and the support I get here.

Thanks to all, WE can do IT !!

Montanagal1, I completely understand about the steady being a problem. for the first few months with sparks I rocketed and lost most of the 20lbs. I have been at a standstill since last October. Been steady alright, steady at 210. lol We just can't give up on ourselves because there is no one else going to be able to lose the weight for us, unfortunately. We are it. Keep the faith in yourself, you can and will lose this weight.

The surgery went well and I am healing (slower than I had hoped though). Went for a nice walk yesterday and hoping to do the same today. Maybe not as long as yesterday but a good walk still the same. I'm really hoping and working towards another 2 pound weight reduction by our anniversary. Keep moving and eat less.....lol......as my turtle would say, slow and steady wins the race.

Good to look back and see that, even though I didn't meet my weight loss goal (and no way is it going to happen by the anniv.) I've learned a lot and over all I am a much healthier person.

Only 4 weeks until our emoticon .

I should be able to shed a few pounds by then - that's my goal - but, they sure move off more slowly these days.

Let's go team!!! Whatever your short term goals are, I wish you the best of luck and am always happy to help if there is something I can do. For right now, I say..... push back from that computer and give us a 10 minute mini workout. C'mon, we can all do this. I will do some Wii Fit soon as I post this message & will be back to check on the rest of you later today. :-)

Even though it's been almost a year, I didn't really get active until December. So while I lost about 8 months, I have made up for that progress in the last 2. I'm glad for where I am at this time - and really looking forward to seeing how much change I can manifest within the next year!

I can't believe that it's been a year already. Time has flown by and I'm happy to say that I've lost weight this year. Usually every April I look in disgust at the scales and vow I'm going to lose weight this year. I'm going to be able to do the things I love that take a bit of physical endurance. Things like walking, hiking, riding my motorcycle, swimming across the lake. I might not be able to swim across the lake yet but I'm on the right track this year. I'm down 20 pounds, my blood pressure is under control, my cholesterol is now "average" (woohoo!) and I'm looking forward to being able to heal from this surgery and get out there and do more. I'm on hold now for awhile until this hernia surgery heals but I'm looking forward to riding my motorcycle this year again.

My anniversary goal is to reach the 35-pounds-lost mark. That would put me at 162. Still got a few to go to reach it, but I would be very proud to say that I had lost 35 pounds in a year. Whether or not I meet that goal, I am very proud that I have come as far as I have, and I know that SparkPeople has helped me change my life!

I can't believe its almost a year. I've only lost 20 lbs because I fell off the wagon a few times, but that is better than gaining 20 lbs. I did gain lots of friendships, knowledge, and tools to be successful. I LOVE SPARK! My goal is to stay on track 6 days a week until 4/15/09 (my 1 year).

I'm working on being a success story!

Huge Accomplishments:
June 2011- Done Girl Page of the Month

6/28/11- Done Girl of the Day!

I'm ready to lose this weight once and for all!!

I will reach my goal 1 pound at a time.

Hi teammates! We are just over a month away from our one-year anniversary on SparkPeople. I don't know about you; but this time has truly flown by in many respects. It's making me reflect back on the past year, how much I've changed in my life since joining SP, where I am towards achieving my goals, the new friends I've met, the healthier eating habits, and so on.

It also makes me take a hard look at myself and consider if additional healthy changes are needed, maybe it's time for some tweaking to improve my lifestyle even more and help reinforce & keep me on track. I've set a mini-goal to lose 3 pounds by my anniversary date (was supposed to hit that weight by mid-Feb).

What about you? Any special plans or goals in mind between now and our anniversary week?
