I LOVE my pedometer. It's like the American Express slogan..."Don't leave home without it". When you buy one, let me know how many steps you calculate your first day of wearing it!

I DO NOT recommend the Sportline GoWalking pedometers. These are the really inexpensive ones that you can purchase from Walmart for about $5-8. I went through 2, and they were both inaccurate.

Currently, I have a Life Fitness Active Step Pedometer. I paid between $20-25 (I cannot remember) for it. It tracks steps; aerobic steps; aerobic step minutes; miles; and calories burned. In addition, it stores information for the last seven days. Oh yes..It also give the time! You can carry it around your neck(not me), in your purse, or on your hip. It has a holder that clips onto your waist and you can slide the pedometer in and out for viewing. Since they are known for falling off the hip, it also comes with a safety strap that clips onto a belt loop or a waistband etc. It's larger than the GoWalking pedometer, so it may look bulky if you wear fitted cloths. I forgot to mention that it also counts steps when you have it in your pocket. My pedometer has become a staple in my wardrobe!

As I mentioned before, I use walkertracker.com. That site highly recommend the Omron pedometer. I went on a shopping spree to find it to no avail. So, I ended up with the Life Fitness Pedometer.

I am attaching a link to the product description of the Omron Pedometer. The one I own looks exactly like it, and it has the same product description.

I purchased mine from Walgreens or CVS, I cannot remember exactly which one.

Hope this helps.

I am addicted to wearing my pedometer. I was always curious to see how many steps that I took in an average day, so I purchased one about 3 years ago. To my surprise I found out that I was walking less than 1,000 steps per day. In the summer of last year, I decided to take walking more seriously and try to meet the recommended 10,000 steps per day. Boy is it hard when you have a sit down job. Almost a year later and the same sit down job, I walk at least 16,000 steps per day 4-5 days per week.

I hate that this site does not track steps. I use walkertracker.com to log my steps.

Well I know I haven't been great keeping in my calorie range but I have worked my but off.Walked like I haven't walked for ages and done exercises i haven't done for over 2 years now!! So why should I put on a pound!!!!! GGrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! emoticon
Lets hope that this weeks extra workouts ,walks and the adition of swimming will make a bigger difference.
I am hoping it is because my belt or indeed maybe my jeans are heavier than i thought(i have to use a scale in a shopping centre)I shall make sure to wear the same clothes every monday when i weigh myself.
Fingers crossed it'll be that!!!
Three cheers to us all for all our efforts! We are here after all!!!

i need to get a pedometer, they are easier now to set up and you can where them anywhere on your body now "i think". I think i saw one that works as a neclace type. weird, i wonder how it measures your foot steps in that position. anyhow that would sure explain 7 miles. if i measured how far my right foot went (while) sewing, i probably walked at least that (on one foot) (hahaha)

I wear a pedometer all day. Around 6:00 pm I walk until 7:30 or 7:45 pm. All together, I calculate at least 7 miles a day.

50 sit-ups a day?? I can barely do 10. I am MUCH better at crunches.

wow, 7 miles is alot of miles a day, how long does that take you. i will be walking a 3 mile "crop walk" for a charity in a couple of weeks. i'm not even sure i am ready for that. i do walk a little, and I do leg exercises every day of one form or another. also i sew in a factory so my right leg and ankle get lots of exercise as well as my right arm and shoulder. pulling material and turning it etc. i started doing situps last week 50 a day. i suppose sometime it might start to show in the scale

You must have gained muscle weight which is a GOOD thing. Another possibility may be the time of day that your are weighing yourself.

Although I am addicted to checking the scale, you should really go by how your cloths are fitting. If you have lost inches, I am sure that your body fat percentage has gone down and your muscles may have gotten bigger and stronger. Are you doing any strength training. I don't do much strength training, but I can see more definition in my legs since I started walking about 7 miles a day.

Keep at it and congrats on the inches lost.
