It was such a challenge when the kids where younger and it was just me since hubby was at work all day. Now the kids are in school (10 & 12) and hubby sold the business so he's retired and helps out a lot. I work out in the morning after I drop my youngest off at school. Do the house work and stuff during the day, spend a lot of time volunteering at the schools (PTA president and Treasurer at the other one), Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School teacher, etc. I always make sure I am there to help with homework and go to all sporting events. Yep, I am tired. But they are only young for such short time. Soon we will be wondering what to do with all that free time! Enjoy it and take at least 30 minutes a day to yourself. I also always take a bubble bath at night after kids are asleep...relaxes me so I can sleep!

It's very difficult. I am a single parent, I am in school full time, I work 30 hours a week, I have a nine year old son, he's in cub scouts, and he plays sports the entire year. My son also has ADHD, so dealing with homework, and keeping him focused is ALWAYS a challenge.

How do I do it? It's not healthy, but I get about 5-6 hours a sleep a night.

I don't have much free time when I'm not at work because my 1-1/2 year old demands alot of attention!! I usually get my exercise on my break at work (it's only 30 minutes a day, but it's better than nothing). Of course, if you're a stay at home mom, then that's hard because there is no break time. On the weekends or days off, I take my daughter for a walk and we go to the park - that way I get some exercise and she gets to expend some energy.

I agree, though, that's it's really hard with all the demands family places on you. Especially when you have more than one child at home! My husband and I work opposite shifts, so we're both living like single parents right now.

I have three little ones and I find myself working out with them. Ya, I know that it is not time for myself, but at least it is time to do something that I am choosing. My husband can tell when I need that away time just for me and he steps up his game, so I can relax. I also take time after the kids are in bed to take a short me time break before I move back into cleaning mode. That is what helps me with three, but adding another child would make it harder. Can I ask what age range you have. Mine are 1, 4, and 7.

Keep in mind that you are not in charge of EVERYTHING! Those dishes can wait or someone else can do them and the trash and fold laundry. Sometimes it won't be done exactly like you want, but it can be done. Put something in the crock pot for dinner and exercise while it is cooking, or for that matter in the oven to bake. Work on little bits of time 3 times a week. Try getting up 15 minutes earlier, dress only to work out and then walk! Do NOT do anything else, but moving out the door. If your getting up earlier, then it must be time only for you.

If you can dream it, you can do it!

This may sound weird, but honestly, I don't seem to be able to keep up with family and myself. How do you find time to just do for yourself? Between the house, the farm, 4 kids a husband and now extended family coming out for a visit, I can't seem to find me time.

Donn
