Thanks, Loverolls. Definitely good advice. Although I have to say, most of my clothes are baggy to begin with -- I buy them that way cause they're comfy on my fat self. LOL

Did you see Therominator's post below? She said in the Air Force they measure the same spot 3 times and average them together. That would tend to cut down on the human error factor.

Thanks again!

I struggle with too. My last weight-loss episode, I measured myself. I lost 10 lbs, but those measurments stayed the same! LOL, I know it was user error! Now I just go by my jeans size. Too tight, need to go up a size, too loose, need to go down a size. Oh, and my belt notches help too!

well i take the measuring tape and put it over the starting mark and pull lightly. It becomes tight and i hold that spot with my hand. I make sure that i can move it around so that it's not too tight and that's how i measure. I also do it in front of a mirror to make sure the tape is accurately around and not drooping down or up. (think hip measurements) I know what I wrote might sound a bit confusing. If so, let me know and I'll try to explain it better.

I've been in the Air Force for over 24 years and we have the same person measure us (for consistancy) and they measure us 3 times (at a time) then average out the measurements. You are right, this is very subjective, but what else can we do? Hope this helps!

Hi groupies. I just [re-]started my weightloss journey. Early on, I know I will drop pounds. But I know later on, I may want to rely more on the measuring tape for encouragement when the scale is being mean. LOL

To that end, I've ALWAYS wondered. . . When we're so squishy cause we're fat, how do we know if we've measured properly? When you're squishy, it's so easy to pull the tape a little tighter without even realizing it, resulting in what LOOKS like a loss of -nths of an inch, but which may NOT be. Does that make sense? It's also easy, if you haven't got someone to help you measure, to not measure in quite the same place as last time, resulting in either a false loss or false gain.

Just wondering if my team members had any advice on getting the best/most accurate measuring results. Thanks sweeties!

=)
