Tracking calories burned by strength training depends on how intense then how long you do you strength training for. Light intensity burns 4 calories a minute. Moderate intensity burns about 6 calories a minute. Heavy intensity burns about 9 calories a minute. I hope this helps you out.

I am in the right one it is just that I just now got on the ball to introduce myself. I have decided to change after seeing my pants getting tighter. UGH!! I have already changed a lot in my life, I just now need a support system since my husband is always gone due to his job. I am also trying to write a book about my journey to being healthy.

I use my heart rate monitor. I do not believe that the site calculates calories burned for strength training.

When I posted that I track my strength training calories by using my hear rate monitor to another team discussion, a community leader told me that using a heart rate monitor is inaccurate.

I continue to use mine because I can feel that I am really working or should I say struggling.

Hi GILLETTE2,

Are you referring to the SP Class of April 13-19, 2008? If so, I believe that you may already be a member because you must be a member before you can post a message. If you are referring to another group, I am afraid that I would need more information before I can attempt to give you an answer. Feel free to email me or leave me a comment on my page if you have any questions.

In the "Other Goals" that we can track on SP, there is a goal you can add for walking 10,000 steps a day. But when you actually track the goal, you just enter the amount of steps you did for that day, even if it wasn't 10,000.

Not sure if that was exactly what you were looking for but thought I'd mention it. It's a goal that I added for myself in SP.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths.

I was wondering about the daily calories as well. I am 5'11" and 160 pounds and I only want to loose 10 pounds. My daily caloric intake is between 1400 -1700. I thought this was kind of low...I guess it is because I would like to loose the weight by August.

Hmm.

I believe the calorie range comes from how much you weigh, how much you would like to weigh and when you hope to accomplish that goal.

My calorie range was in the 3K range. There's no way I can do 3K or come close when I'm drinking as much water as I do now and have as much fiber as I do now. I set my range to 1500-1800 and I can easily make that range although sometimes I come just short of it and just add a snack to boost my numbers up.

My calorie intake is supposed to be between 1750 and 2100! I weigh 305. Does that sound right? I didnt put the calories in there they was just automatically in there so where does it come from.

Thanks for the information on leisure walking. Although I don't feel like my job is too leisurely at times, I do a ton of walking on some days and I could add this. No?

Go to your start page, your weight tracker button thing is on there, push it and it takes you to your page to track your weight! I had that problem finding it last week too.

in regards to your question, POGLOVER, i guess you could keep track of the amount of steps you take in your journal or on your blog... or you can add a new exercise in your exercise tracker.

may I make a suggestion and see if it fits your question? if you go to your "my fitness" page, and browse through "walking/running" under "add cardio" and choose the speed you walk, example 21 minute mile (I would consider that "leisure walking") and then put the amount of time you walked. then it will calculate the calories burned based on your previous input (weight, etc). hope that works for you.

I guess my question is about the same. How do we track Leisure Walking. I can see where you can put how fast you walked a mile but I dont go by distance as in miles I just walk and I would like to have the option to put Leisure Walking 30 mins. Do you have that?

I track daily step counts with a pedometer. Is there a place on SparkPeople to log my daily progress?

Thanks!
