Of course you aren't the only one! I have that struggle every day. I think that when you get home from work or school, your brain is not fully engaged and you have the time to think about all the food you want to enjoy. One thing that I try to do is find something else I enjoy doing instead of eating (like Ninetendo Wii). I have found that if I do that and then go to bed on time, I can control the hunger and the cravings a little more.

I always want something sweet at the end of the day. I used to eat ice cream every night - reduced fat ice cream, but far too much of it!

I've been fighting the sweet craving by trying out different types of 100-calorie cookies, snacks, etc. They are working for me so far. I've had ice cream on a few evenings when I had some calories left over in my allotment, but I am measuring the portions now.

I am also a nighttime snacker. I get home from work around 6:30 most nights and try to eat supper as soon as I can. Because I am such a night owl, I tend to snack some evenings when I stay up too late. I am trying to get to bed earlier to feel better and avoid snacking. It is hard to do! emoticon

I wish I could close my kitchen but I have to walk through it to get to my bedroom and back through it to get to the bathroom - can't tell you how many times that fridge has beckoned me during my middle of the night potty runs! Its easier to say no to that though!

I want to thank everyone - there have been some fabulous suggestions and last week was better! Still have WAY to go though!!

I need to close my kitchen down at 7:30 and not go back in there unless it is for water or to put up dishes...I made this promiss a week ago and I stuck to it half the time...It is hard if you get home a right befor 7:30 on some nights so I guess I have to have an exception every once in a while.

I have a huge problem with evening snacking, especially in front of the tv. I definitely need help. Sometimes when I put my six yr old to bed I just stay upstairs so I don't have the urges to eat in front of the TV. I guess sleep works best for me so I won't be tempted!

my problem is defenely evening snacking! I have been trying to get creative with my snacks...I always have FF or lite popcorn, sugar free popsicles, lowfat cheese sticks (I eat one with a small apple, yummy & healthy), lowfat protien bars.....tea...
this way if I wanna snack, I won't "blow" my day. it's been working so far. I love tracking my meals on here that way I can see how many calories I've had & it helps me to weigh my options more.

A snack and a work-out!!

I do have the same problem though. The other day I just gave in and had fast food bc I was craving something unhealthy! If you do have a slip-up, don't let it ruin your motivation!!

I was the same way and now i go to the gym right after work. If I go home I end of staying there, so I don't even go home. then I eat a small meal afterwards. I feel so good from the workout that I don't feel like eating much, so I discipline myself. My weaknes is the weekends, but i found some articles on that issue and I am going to try them out this weekend. Alot of it willpower and disciplining myself. Good luck

Great article. Thanks Kara.

I was having a horrible time right after work. I would get home and while fixing dinner I would snack. Then I started making sure I have a snack around 3pm. I prefer high protein. It really seems to curb the hunger until I get dinner ready.

I stopped the evening eating by joining an eight o'clock swim fit. THEN I got a cold and didn't go to pool and guess what...I'm nibbling again! Back to pool soon.

I'm the same way! I get home from work and want a huge bowl of cheese filled pasta. Nothing like derailing a day's worth of work!

I get through the cravings by having an afternoon snack. I like to get Lunchable Jrs. They're the right size and I'm getting a sweets craving and cheese/protein craving out of the way. That way, I'm not starving when I get home.

I sailed through my first two weeks - but now the waters are getting rough! I do great with my food during the day - stay on plan - then I get home. I don't want anything but cheese and carbs - and the last two days I've over indulged!

Am I the only one? Do other people deal with this and what do they do? Am I doing something wrong? Please point me in the right direction!

Thanks
