I'm not a doctor or a nurse but I don't think those types of steroids will make you gain wait...it is the other kind. Somebody else might verify that for me.

Update: the doctor says I have an upper respiratory infection and gave me several prescriptions, one being for those evil antibiotics (he believes it is bacterial in nature).

He also wants me to take ONE dose of steroids tomorrow morning. I am hoping one dose won't plump me up (I've been reading the steroid horror stories).

Well, I am going to the doc today, so we'll see what happens. My ears hurt, so I sense antibiotics in my future (ick, ick, ick).

I've been told by more than one person that inhalers were being used to treat 'the funk'. I don't have asthma, but I sure am blocked up.

I went to the doctor and they put me on Advair and it has helped a lot. Your symptoms sounded just like mine.

Thanks for the reference, it was quite reassuring. I feel better about resting now, and I have been pushing the fluids.

Have you been to a doctor who has diagnosed this as bronchitis? If not, that would be a good idea, then ask him/her for recommendations regarding exercise.

Here's an article to read that will also help you decide on exercise:

I am dealing with a horrible case of bronchitis. I think this is due to allergies rather than a virus, because I don't have a fever or (abnormal) body aches. However, I have not done the exercising I'd hoped to this week (scheduling was a contributory issue).

If I DO exercise while still dealing with the bronchitis, will it worsen the bronchitis? The coughing and drainage have me living on Mucinex and Zyrtec. The only good thing is that it's raised my water intake.
