VESPA, you're doing great! Pat yourself on the back for all the things you did right, ESPECIALLY for reading and planning before you went to Red Robin, but also for coming back to the team, sharing your experience, and making an even better plan for "next time". That's what it's all about!

ACONNERS, you are smart to check what you are eating before you go out. I think it would help to know by heart a few meals at several different restaurants. That way we wouldn't be clueless if our friends picked the restuarants. Istead you would just know that at Subway the Turkey sandwich is the way to go and at Olive Garden it's the soup.

I'll check it out, thanks! I stayed within my calorie range today and I'm really happy about it. I also watched my fat intake and was on the low end of my range. I think that will help make up for it. I feel like I'm back on track... one step backwards, two steps forward!

On a side note, just knowing about the nutriction in the wrap (or lack of) made me pass on my leftovers. It just wasn't appealing anymore.

I also liked what it said at the very end:

In tennis, losing one point isnít the end of the world. It happens to the best of them. In fact, if you can consistently win a few more points that you lose, you may end up in the hall of fame. With healthy eating and exercising, as long as youíre consistently out-stepping your steps back, youíre ahead of the game. If you expect perfection (and many of us do), youíre setting yourself up for disappointment and guilt.

You CAN get back on track today. Even if youíre moving slowly, youíll be moving in the right direction!

If you cant find it, I have it as one of my favorites on my Sparkpage! Happy Health to you all! emoticon

I was reading "25 ways to get back on Track" on the SP main page. # 14 said: Check the nutrition facts before you go out to eat. That way, you can make an informed choice.

It also has a bunch of other good ideas!

I FEEL YOUR PAIN! I did the same thing this week at Taco Del Mar. I ordered the Chicken Taco Salad...thinking it was the healthiest thing on the menu. Got home, went online and saw that it was 900 calories!!!

Next time I plan to go out, I will try to download the menu ahead of time and decide before I go out. Like tonight, i am going to Applebee's with some friends. Their chicken fajitas look like the best choice. I will eat 2 tortillas worth and take the rest home.

Also, I think I will start going to Sushi restaurants instead. I like sushi and it is VERY diet friendly!

I feel your pain when it comes to eating out. I eat a few times a month, sometimes I don't have time to cook., with work and school. And it is easy to be misled. You think you are making the right choice when you are not. I try to go to places where I can get the calorie content before I go, or places where they have it listed. Like every so often I want chinese food, so I go to this Thai place instead. They have healthier options with tofu and fresh veggies with smaller portions, and they tell you what they put in the food. Its' hard but it takes time.

Don't fret, it's another day. You live and you learn.

That's crazy! I'll remember this the next time I order out.

Have a wonderful day,

Wow! I would have been mislead as well. I would have ordered the same thing too thinking that that was a healthier choice. Its surprising how much a restaraunt can mislead you. I didn't read the SP tips for eating out yet, I'll have to take a look. Tomorrow is another day, keep your head up! : )

Tonight I want out to eat at Red Robin. I had read SP's tips for eating out and did pretty well. I ate half of my chicken wrap and brought the leftovers home. I ordered water instead of a soda. I did eat all my fries, but skipped the endless basket offer. I also passed on dessert. Sounds pretty good, right?

Wrong!!! I feel so mislead, not by SP but by Red Robin. I mean, I'm in no way under the impression that fries are good for you. But, you would think that a chicken wrap with spinach tortilla would be OK, especially half of one.

When I got home I looked up the nutrition. OMG! The whole meal has 1525 calories! The wrap alone is over 1000, the fries about 400, and the cantalope about 125. So I ended up consuming aout 900 calories even when thought I was doing everything right. Ugh!

How do they get away will selling this? Who makes a chicken wrap with over half your daily calories? The meal alone met my SP suggested calorie intake for theentire day! The crazy thing is that it wasn't even that much food.
