I know the feeling. It is--for me--like some part of me hit my inside goal, and I just stay there! The danger is sliding back up.

I have worried that this thread may have been unhelpful to you--the idea of living 5 days on target, and 1 or 2 days off. Because you had not been over your target, or been unhealthy with chocolate, for over a year, when we started.

It was easier for me to do Spark every day, than 5 or 6 days a week. And I have been "trying to lose" my last 3 pounds for about three months now, and still over eat on the weekends. So obviously, eating 5 days on target does not result in weight loss! It may allow maintenance, though I don't think it would if I went too far over.

New battle. Old tools. I need to regroup, myself!

Catching up...
I had a BUSY Saturday... got up, went shopping, went to gym, shopped some more, had dinner, ran to the Walmart up in P-ville to see if they had any of the exercise crop pants I like because the Folsom store was out of my size... they had one pair - in purple, which I bought anyway because they're so comfy - I'd live in them if I could! Came home and did a few things with my mom... got on SP, lost all my work because my computer was giving me fits, gave up and went to bed.

Today, got up and went to a craft fair at Davis Ranch (in Sloughhouse) - they had about 25 vendors plus their produce stand - got some yummy fresh stuff and sweet corn basically right off the truck from the field. Yum! emoticon It was about 105 but at least we were mostly in the shade... and I was pounding water, so it wasn't too bad. Got home, did a few more things with my mom... did some Spark stuff, did a few things around the house, had dinner, exercised, played one game of Stack'em on Pogo - yes, really, truly, only one round! And then I came here! Now I need to wrap-up and get to bed! I'm going to work HARD this week on getting sleep - and detoxing after the last two days because my sodium was through the roof and today I had a sweet tooth that WOULD NOT QUIT. emoticon So I was out of range... but I'm going to "group my poop" and ROCK the next few days - since I'm headed out of town Friday and will be off my routine again!

It was living 5 this week... the worst I have ever done when I haven't been travelling! Yikes! Today I ate 430 calories from chocolate-based treats! I was just craving like crazy - it was horrible... nothing was cutting it. But even if I hadn't done all that, I was still over my calories by 163 calories from other stuff. Now part of that was corn... which was "good" food... but still!

Deb, my oldest has elbow displasia (basically, arthritis) and the vet told us to just get the big bottle of Glucosimine at Costco for him - basically no difference between dog and human versions... and it seemed to make a difference. He doesn't favor his front leg at all unless he REALLY does a lot of running now.

Right now, I'm sitting in the hotel lobby because I couldn't pick up a strong enough wireless signal in our room to coneect tonight. We had a good day... traffic wasn't too bad on the way up... and we walked about 6 miles today! Kinda makes up for the fries we had a dinner - except we shared a side order off one plate and didn't even eat them all! So we were overall really good!

Tomorrow I think we're headed to the new center at Heavenly Village - and then we'll be on the beach for fireworks at night! I can't wait!!!

Have a SUPER 4th of July everyone! I hope that everyone has a great day!

Feeling better today... still a little tight, but I just stuck to the exercise bike today. Will be doing a lot of walking over the weekend - so should be fine. No more ST until Monday!

Have you tried Gloucosimine (sp?) - It seems to help my oldest dog!

I'm sorry to hear it! Give your muscle the care it needs. I am struggeling with Jazzercise--it's my joints that give me trouble. BUT--I did decide I'm going to find a way, cause it's a fun way to exercise.

Heat, ice, and gentle stretching! And I hope it doesn't interfeer with your aerobics.

Hope you found some workout stuff that works for you! And maybe some pretty fun clothes, too!

I wasn't too sore from Saturday, so I went to LIFT class at the gym on my way home from work - really pushed myself and man, I'm feeling it tonight already! emoticon emoticon

My smile for yesterday was chillin' in front of the house with my yellow lab watching the fireworks (my town does ours the last weekend in June every year) - and I kid you not, Cameron WATCHES them! My other two wusses are afraid of the booms - but Cam is unfazed by the booms (he was the only one of the 3 exposed to gunfire as a pup...) and seems to love the lights in the sky. It's so cute! (Debbie, did you get to see them??? I thought it was a great show this year!)

Today my mom and I went shopping (you'd think my dad would know better than to keep letting us out of the house together!) again to JCPenny's. They had just marked a TON of stuff down to clearance - most of it down to $5.97! So if anyone lives near one - they have tons of cute summer stuff already cheap! We each ended up finding a few tops we liked - plus I got two more moisture-wicking workout tops cheap - I love that stuff! Oh! And I found a replacement pair of sunglasses for the ones I broke! I'm SOOOO HAPPY about that! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Deb, you are so right!

I have transformmed the way I do things... and I'm living a sustainable way right now... I'm not feeling hungry or deprived... and I'm not usually doing more than 30-60 minutes of exercise per day so it's doable... But it's still hard for me to get my head around the "I CAN" way of thinking... Too many years living in "I Can't Land." Still gotta jump some hurdles - just most of the are mental ones!

Audra, you are so right. It's what's inour head that directs where we go--and if we aren't willing to live healthy from our choices, having someone outside do it for us won't hold. I am so sorry that she is missing that piece. And I don't know about her, but so many of my friends who talk wanting to lose weight won't even hear of checking out Spark--and that makes no real sense to me.

But we love our friends anyway! And I'm so glad you had fun, and still affirmed your new life. THat's what it's all about with Spark, I think!

Hi all! Sorry I didn't make it back on last night - didn't get in until midnight and pretty much went right to bed!

We started out with dinner - burgers, fries, and a vodka martini before the play. I didn't eat all my bun or all the fries - and that's the first alcohol I've had in 2.5 years - it was fun being out and doing something "grown-up" for a change! So not too bad... but I didn't get in exercise but walking yesterday. The Lion King was GREAT - really loved the production. The opening sequence gave me goosebumps.

Today, I had a great workout today with the trainer - I was really motivated today... seeing Lisa yesterday was eye opening for me... she had a gastric bypass about 5 years ago... she got down to a 12/14... and now she's back up around 200 pounds and wearing a 16/18... and she's not really doing anything to turn it around... she's not exercising, she's got a Mtn Dew habit that doesn't quit... and she doesn't focus on nutrition... and it's scary to me... scary that she'd go through WLS and then not follow all the way through... not change her habits, not care for her body... like she got so close - like where I am now - and then she just let it all go... I don't want to do that...ever... I am just really hoping that all the changes I've made these last 16 months will take me through the rest of my life.

Deb, to answer your question... we've pretty much been supportive of each other... but it can be hard... hard not to be jealous... I'm lucky here that we both understand both sides of the coin.

Gotta get to bed!

I'm going to see the Lion King with my friend Lisa tomorrow night! I can't wait! We've had the tickets since last fall! I haven't seen her since February - so I think she's going to be a little surprised to see me - I think I was in a 1x then! Her hubby's on kid duty and we're making a "date" of it - getting gussied up to hit the town! Soooooooooo excited! Did I mention that?

Have a great Friday everyone!!!

Doesn't being outside and on the water just make everything taste better? Good think is that you're probably more active to compensate for any extra calories! I'm glad you had a good time!

emoticon Blushing, me! I'm honored that you'd use my story as an example, Deb.

I wore a skort today - for the first time ever! Had to remember to sit like a lady all day! emoticon Even if it was a short, I couldn't be on display! {giggles} A few of the people I work with (who have known me for 8 years and NEVER seen me in a skirt or showing so much leg) were really happy for me today. It was nice to have that support.

That is a great quote. And I do feel like my life is meaningful, and that my goals matter--which is gerat.

I seem to be having trouble getting myself to track. Probably because I can pinpoint it pretty easily without tracking--but I keep wanting to do it for at least a few days. Maybe today!

The visit was great, but I ate too much on the lake. It's like an eating trigger for me, going on the boat, out for dinner, etc. THose are the kinds of things I have to work on. But overall I'm good with how my weight/maintenance is coming.

I've told non-Spark friends about you, Audra--you've done really well, and that deserves recognition!

I'm doctor phobic... or doctor office phobic... I go to the same office as one of my friends... we had to stop by there once after work for her to get her b-12 shot... I was in the waiting room and broke out in a cold sweat and was pale and clammy. Sitting in the waiting room nearly does me in... but I love the dentist and eye doc - go figure.

Hope that your visit with the in-laws goes well!

Zumba is still growing I think - a lot of the gyms are still adding those classes. We have Jazzercise around here, too, but it's pretty expensive and is bascially only in operation while I'm at work!

This was on the SparkPeople daily calendar for 6/22:

"When we are motivated by goals that have deep meaning, by dreams that need completion, by pure love that needs expressing, then we truly live life.

Audra, I hate that it was so miserable! I don't look forward to them either.

I've not seen any info on a Zumba class around here, or I would try one--I love to move my hips!! ;)

I did just re-start Jazzercise this week. I'd done it for about 2 years, and loved it, but my knees got bad, and I couldn't go on. However, I've done some strengthening exercises, and when I tried again last week--I think I will do great! It's a fun way to exercise. Adn they do weights, too--not as fun, but then it's over!!

Off to the lake to visit with my daughter and her husbnd--we're staying at his parent's house, and I'm a bit nervous, since we don't know them THAT well.

But I guess I can approach this just like I approach the pelvic--it will be what it is, and I can just be where I am, and breathe and soon it will be over!!

Your weight-loss-into-greater-health journey is really flying, Audra-excitement!!

Thanks, Deb! I am still working as hard as I can towards my goals!

Hi all, sorry for not being around too much... yesterday I was really uptight about my doctor appt today - the dreaded woman's exam... and I'm soooooooo doctor phobic it's just hard to keep the anxiety at bay!

My doctor appointment was okay - no fun - but I at least didn't cry (like last time - Doh!) and she said everything felt okay! Anyway, I got home around 10:40 and took off with my mom for shopping... we hit Ross, Kohl's and Wal-Mart... then had to head home, eat a quick late lunch and then went back down to the gym to try a Zumba class for the first time. What I learned is that I can have fun without being able to move my hips or shake my butt or boobs at all! And I'd try it again! Went from the gym to Safeway to pick up a few things... (There's nothing quite like having the confidence to go grocery shopping in your beloved moisture wicking workout clothes post-workout!) Then had dinner and tried to take care of some things around the house and some more paperwork. Not sure if I'll ever manage to get caught up!
Now it's going on 1am... so I'm going to head to bed!

Good work Audra! And I really love your new picture.
I'm making positive progress, though nt as fast as I could. I am apparently unwilling to go back to consistant under limit range for more than a few days at a time...and I've acceptd that for now, since I don't go far over--well, it's not over maintaining, it's just over losing. I am maintaining and moving down--slowly.

I'm going to your page to see how much progress you've made on your ticker! You really do look beautiful, too.

I'm making progress too, and did have a great Wednesday, so thank you for the good wishes!! ;)

I'm excited to have one weekend at home, hoping I can continue to make progress--I'm almost back at goal. Blowing it for taht long and then returning was MUCH harder than the maintaining I had been doing--which I will remember!

So I'm learning and that's a success too, Audra!

I'm hoping I can get this in - been getting random SP errors for the last 15 minutes or so... which means it's really time for me to get to bed!

Mom and Cooper are both doing okay! Whew!
(Mom did great with the cataract surgery and is already complaining that she can't bend down and pick stuff up!)
(Cooper got a piece of a foxtail in his eye on Monday and we had to rush him to the vet...)
The two of them napped together this afternoon on the sofa - not sure who was nursing who!

We had chinese food tonight - for the first time in probably 8 months. OMG it was good, but I totally blew my calorie range for the day. I did get in 40 minutes of exercise - so hopefully that counters the worst of it! I do know that I would have eaten twice as much in the past... so it's still a success!

Finished the last major close report before I left work today, so should be able to breathe tomorrow. Plus walking to Subway with Kenny and Nicole for lunch - so that should be a nice little break for all of us now that we're past the month-end crazies!

Here's to a great Wednesday!
GO TEAM!

Audra, you are so amazing! I envy your ypcoming great outcome from your dedication to working out!

I should find I have maintained over this last special long weekend of such a long series of special long weekend trips! I did well with maintaining last week, and hope to go from there tomorrow.

Hey everyone,
Just caught up on this thread. We got back last Sunday, so this week has been a week of adjusting to EST, returning to work (9am last Monday;-) I gained 2 pounds on the trip, which I'm ok with, but now it's time to get back to work! This week I want to get to the gym consistently and start tracking my food again. My husband's college friends are getting together to waterski the 1st weekend of August and I want to be more in shape before I meet them...trying to keep my focus on that and stay motivated!

Have you ever worked out to the point you thought you were going to have a heart attack? Or puke? Or pass out? I HAVE! I think Kurt tried to kill me today! But seriously, it was an amazing workout... and if anyone else feels like torturing themselves, let me know, I've got the receipe for ya!

Just make sure that you eat more than a Fiber One Bar, a South Beach Protein Bar and a kiwi first. Kurt made me promise that I'd eat a better breakfast/lunch before our next workout... as he said I was working out too hard for what I'd eaten and that my blood sugar had bottomed out on me. He fed me a few banana chips and let me sit for a few minutes until the room stopped tilting. He said that having me pass-out on him wouldn't be too productive from my point of view but that it would further increase his reputation as a badass trainer!

Anyway, I'm home and close to having a nice late lunch/early dinner! Just wanted to pop back in here, first! Hope you're having a great time at the retreat, Deb! See you all later!

I'm so glad you are safe!! And Ti--love the before and after pics!

I'm off to retreat till Sunday--no internet, but also healthy food, so it's a good trade-off! ;)

Take care, Deb

Oh--I'm still maintaining, but I've realized it, and now I'm off to lose 3 and then maintain again. It seems like a do-able plan.

Hi All!

The past two days, the only snacking I've done at work is FOUR chocolate covered raisins each day. I've gotten them at the start of the day and rationed them out so that I think I'm really getting a treat!

I made it to the gym tonight and suffered through a sub who sang along (badly) in a falsetto to 80s music through the whole class. Got home and was coming back from my parents as the thunderstorms and rain and wind came through the area. Just got all the dogs in as a BIG limb on one of my trees came down. Thankfully, it fell into the yard and not on the fence or patio roof. It was a NASTY 10 minutes or so.

Work is starting to calm down just a touch again. Still over-busy and morale is LOW but we're trying to keep on truckin' and push through.

Gotta get to bed...
See you Thursday!

I hope you're feeling better Audra, time outside in the sunshine always seems to make me feel better, even if it's weeding the garden or walking the dog.

Hope everyone is doing OK. I'm chugging along, haven't done great with my food lately but I have picked up my fitness to compensate, so still maintaining.

Hi Audra! I'm glad the trip was fun--and wow, you really did put your heart into and enjoy it, even with a concussion!!

The work stuff is so stress-increasing, and miserable and scary. I'm sorry. And then you fear there will be more, and the worry can be as bad for your body--or even worse, actually--than having it actually happen!

Audra, I'm a health psychologist, and I want to say--protect and support yourself! Good affirmative thought reminders--you will be all right, you can chose to grow and learn and you can make it--I don't know what your heart needs to hear, but you do. And strong aerobic exercise, to reduce/wash away the stress biochemical effects from brain and body. And do you do meditation? Very supportive physically, good to add right now.

You WILL make it, but it is challenging to live healthily with the sense of threat. You CAN, but it will take thought.

And you are the one to do it--anyone who can have fun with a concussion can do anything!! ;)

Today was a rough day at work - we had a fourth round of lay-offs and us "lucky survivors" got the news that everyone is being given a 4.25% pay decrease. The economy is hurting us soooo bad (vehicle related services) and I can't even begin to imagine how or when things are going to pick up again. Anyway, I was just an emotional wreck by the time I got home and ended up taking a nice walk with Cooper and the sunshine helped me mellow out a bit.

The good news is that I managed to (just barely) stay in range and got in my exercise!

Hi all! I'm back in NorCal and working to get my feet back underneath me... nothing like being on the road 10 days to get you all out of whack!

My vacation was WONDERFUL! The luggage was dropped off some time between 2:30 and 6:30 in the morning - it was on the front step when I woke up! YAY! And thing just went up from there. We were in Niagara Falls for a day, Manhattan for about 4 days, Mystic, CT for a day, and Gloucester/Salem, MA for 2 days.

Every day, we had one meal out and ate protein/fiber bars and fruit the rest of the day. Each meal out, I pretty much had what I wanted although I always started with a salad and chose a lean protein. I stopped eating when I got full - leaving food on my plate - what a concept! - usually the carb portion of the meal. I had french fries one day - OMG YUM - and a small apple crisp for dessert another day - OMG YUM and we tried these fried dill pickles in Salem - funny but yummy! And even with all that, I lost 2 pounds when I weighed in this weekend - so I didn't derail there at all! I don't know how anyone could be fat in Manhattan... we were racking up the steps and stairs there - it was AWESOME!

The ONLY bad part of the trip is that I fell getting out the bathtub Sat morning while in MA and got a mild concussion. It didn't take too much away from the trip - as the emergency room doc said I could pretty much do whatever I wanted as long as I felt up to it... but since getting home... I've found that I have NEEDED to get a full night of sleep... so instead of Sparking, I've been sleeping! I'm having occassional bouts of lightheadedness yet - but that's normal and nothing to worry too much about as long as I am not having any other issues, which I'm not. I do have some pretty nasty black eyes, mostly my right side... and that's got me more down than anything!

I'm trying today to get caught up on all my Spark Stuff. I have missed my teams! I'm also on my last load of laundry and I'll be really happy if I manage to get my suitcase comepletely empited and put away before bedtime... but Sparking comes first - it might sit there another week! It goes well with the desk clutter!

My goal for this next week is to curb my sweet tooth - which has been raging since I got home - and to get back to having some regular seat time on my exercise bike!

emoticon GO TEAM!

Out tonight, will do fish and focus on small healthy protions! I'm activily focusing on living healthy every day!

Weekend after weekend of "special events", travel and company makes me realize I can't just live healthy when I'm having a "normal" day/week--because those are the exception, not the rule.

Hi all. Just got back from 4 days travel/visiting--which is like being out to eat for 4 days! I did pretty well, but couldn't track, and that makes it difficult. I'm glad to be home! And back at the computer!

And I think the appetizer plan is the best I've run in to.

It is so very hard to be good when out with people, well done on achieving it tonight. I find that entree/appetizer size is the right size for a main meal for me now, I don't feel hungry or over-stuffed. Talk about portion distortion the way some places serve pasta!

I tracked 6 last week, did well with nutrition and a bit better with my fitness.

This week I want to do 6 again and up the fitness a little.

I'm trying a little harder but it is one of the more difficult things for me to manage with SP. We went out to eat tonight and I ordered the appetizer for my meal. It satisfied me. Everyone else had big bowls of pasta and I had a few shrimp and a piece of garlic bread.

Just need to ponder this. I was over today (by less than 100) but yet I feel like I'm doing better. I htink because there were several opportunities to be bad, and I didn't take them--so that's is good.

I am going to commit to being on track even this weekend, even with the celebrations. I'm tired of my binge mentality on the weekends--and tired of losing ground every MOnday!

Thanks Deb, I take progress pics often to send to my mom, I haven't seen her in almost 2 years! Hopefully later this year I will get the chance to visit.

I hope you enjoy your visit with the kids, make the most of it. I also find it very challenging to make right choices when I'm out, lately my downfall has been wine, I can live with my food choices but re-introducing alcohol into my diet has not done me any favours.

Well, as suspected, all that filling in calories with the wrong foods has paid off in the wrong direction, I gained 1kg/2.2lbs this week. I'm back on board to lose that kilo this week, my foot is no longer hurting so I can do my turbo jam again.

Ti--WOW!! What a great picture! You look wonderful!

We have a 3 day holiday weekend this weekend--and we're actually taking 4 days--and visiting our kids in Texas, so I suspect 6 days is out for me this week. But I will do 5 for sure. I noticed last night that I'm STARTING to be able to make wise choices even when I'm out with people--that's the challenging one for me still.

Audra--any luggage? I hope the trip is unfolding into exciting new stuff--and that you're having fun.

Congrats Audra!!!!!!!!!! I hope the trip is going well and you have been reunited with your luggage by now.

I've been toying with the same things Deb, I eat really well during the week then allow myself to derail a bit on saturdays, I don't track on purpose so that I don't think about it as much. The negative effect is that I feel bloated and uncomfortable for a few days afterward, so I'm not sure it's worth it. I'm sure I will find the balance eventually.

This week I'm aiming for 5 days again, maybe even 6, I'd like to have a quiet weekend!

That's exciting, Audra--but I was only thinking of the 29.9 goal--which you met! I hope the trip is going well--it is wonderful to have like-minded friends there.

And you'll be in maintenance before too long--which is wonderful fun, but it's also it's own very new and strange process!

Deb & Ti, I really like reading what it's like trying to maintain - that's got to be a difficult transition to make.

Deb, to answer your question, now that I hit the 29.9 BMI range, my next 10% mini-goal is 166 - so that's my new focus!

Whew... what a CRAZY day! I am in New York!!!

Flight from Sacto to Philly went well - although we got off the plan about 15 minutes late. Had to rush to another concourse to make my flight to Rochester... but made it! All that hurry-up just to spend almost 2 hours on the taxiways waiting for clearance to get in the air as there were bad thunderstorms in our flight path. Even with that delay, I didn't get in too late... Unfortunately, my luggage didn't make the flight with the quick connection! I'm currently waiting for someone from the airlines to drop it off here. They called about an hour ago, so hopefully it arrives soon... although I'm still on California time, lack of sleep going into the day is starting to catch-up with me. And while I can surive a night without my luggage... I can't do too much beyond that without it!

Jeanne and her husband are both wonderful and we've already hit the store to get some healthy meals, snacks, bars, and fruits for the trip!

Didn't do too well with food today - meaning I didn't get enough calories or protien - which makes it pretty much the first time I've been out of range (although under) in well over a year... but I didn't get much exercise either - so it balances out in the end! Am hoping tomorrow will be a more normal food day.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

That's been the hardest maintenance problem for me, Ti. If I stay with my healthy stuff, I can eat lots, but I'm under the calories for maintenance, so I 'fill in' my extras with junk. That goes up FAST, and it starts the craving cycle.

It's actually difficult to eat maintenance level with only healthy calories...which may very well say I need to maintain at a lower weight, but by golly I don't want to get much lower, and I want to eat like our culture does at times.

What worked for me--till I had my hissy fit, then I had to really work at it again for a while--but what worked for a long time was eating all healthy, losing range all week, and then enjoying treats and dinners out, drinks, baking etc, on the weekends.

I'm sure that's not really right--it has a binge and purge flavor, even though it's not--but it gives me what I feel like is the best of both worlds.

Might try it, play with your schedule, think about when you like to be with people and share food, and when it's easy to eat what I not think of as "real".

We're getting there! We're still new into this whole healthy life thing!

And hey, Audra--are you almost to your next goal?? I'm excited to hear! And good work with the way you deal with cravings. I do the same thing when I'm staying in range (and that has been consistent since I got home.)

Have a safe trip Wyldcat!

Well done Audra, that's is impressive endurance.

I've been doing so-so with my food this week, been trying to bump up my calories but I've been resorting to poor choices to do that. I've aggravated an old injury in my foot so I've been taking it easy exercise wise as well! Oh well, new week starting soon.

Wow Audra--you're really building fitness and endurance! And you and Ti are both doing well.

I had a sudden special dinner last night, no warning and I didn't do well. But I'm on track today, under my calorie limit, and good choices.

I did the gym Monday, but I walked so much on the trip taht my tendon got inflamed, so I rested--but back to walking tomorrow!

Tried to post this last night but SP was down...

So I had a "craving day" and ONLY had one Hershey's Kiss and 4 Special K crackers that WEREN'T in the day's plan... so SUCCESS!

Then... I'm watching TBL finale and I decided to set a new personal record on my newish exercise bike and did a FULL HOUR on it in "one sit"! Of course when the hour was up, I laid down on the floor for a minute or two until I had it together enough to stretch, breathe normal and get up! But SUCCESS!

Now I need to finish Sparking and get to bed! emoticon

Audra, I'm so excited for you!!!

I did not do well on my trip--even though I walked at least one but usually two hours a day. Just stupid food choices.

And part of the problem is knowing that my "easy to keep" weight is actually under the fat/muscle ratio...even with caliper measurement. That makes it hard for me to feel energized to work it down any further. I think for a while I may focus on maintenance and building more muscle...

Sure, Ti--I'd be glad to--I think it's really helped me get back on track.

I'll send out another letter, letting folks know were going on. Help me know if we want an end date.

And I have no way to track the food I just had, but today will have to be considered an off day. But oddly enough--or maybe not so oddly!--knowing we're dong this will help keep me on track tomorrow. Tomorrow's stil lFriday here, Ti! And I will also track Saturday, to make up for today.

I'm at a conference, and the food is weird. Great food and amazing exercise yesterday (3 hours walking, 3 hours biking--no kidding, and I have the sunburn to prove it!) but then today, sitting all day and fancy foods...but there's still tomorrow!!

;)

Blessings to all!

Can we keep running this challenge Deb? I think it's helping us get back our focus.

Well done Audra, that is fantastic news. I was sooo excited when I got out of the obese category too.

This week I've been good, maybe too good, tracked 7 days: 1386, 1157, 1260, 1294, 1329, 1443. I'm not going to track over the weekend, give myself a time out, I want to maintain this week but it seems unlikely.

I REALLY focused on my food and exercise this past week and I finally dropped two pounds after being stuck for 3 weigh-ins in a row. Felt great to see that change on the scale today. Now I'm only 2 pounds away from being overweight! I can't wait!

Congrats to everyone who refocused and worked hard to reach their goals this challenge!

Well I did well today--1401 of 1550 possible. And they were 'good' calories, too.

Our challenge is winding up--it was for the month of April--and it's been fun! And really helpful for me as well.

Audra, I enjoyed getting to hear from you more!

Ti, you'll get ok with maintenance--it's actually quite emotionally challenging, or at least it was for me. And --again,for me--refocusing on toning helped me past the disappointment of discovering that I as not perfect at my normal weight!

And Wyldcat, good work to you too!!

Alyaboo--I'm going to go find how you're doing!

Deb, way to go on the potluck success!
You have to take time to enjoy your family.
Pretty soon you won't even have to worry about food!

I am doing better this week at keeping my cals in the 1300s instead of up at 1550... so I'm HOPING for a loss this week instead of seeing a maintain again... I have 4 pounds to go before I'm "overweight" and I can't WAIT to get there!

1458 of possible 1550 today--and what's really wonderful for me is that it was potluck dya at work. We have one every onth--last week I got confused, and brought my dessert--and then it was this week, so I had an extra day of dessert there!

But today I did exactly what you suggested Audra--I brought food and ate it before I went up--a salag and some grilled fish--and then I took a tiny--I mean VERY small--amount of every one's stuff. I estimated--no clear numbers, but I estimated high.

So yea--that was my VERY FIRST potluck where I did well and came in under for the day!

I'm ready for a new week too, Ti. I only did 5 good days last week--this weekend was pretty horrid. Well, no it was a wonderful weekend, full of family and friends and parties and special events--and food!! And therein lies the problem.

I just hold myself to 5 or 6 good days of 7, but I had been doing 6, and prefer that--this week was only 5. SO--I'm ready for next week!

It's so much easier when it's just normal life. But I loved having my daughter and her husband here, and all the fun things we did...

Whine whine no more!! I'm ready to go!! ;)

Did 1149 yesterday, but it wasn't a good nutrition day, nursing a hangover so the cure isn't too healthy. No tracking on saturday, gave myself a free day but I estimate I was up around 1700.

Yep--water's the real deal!

I did 1421 today, of 1550--yea me! I'm so glad to be back in charge of my eating. And it's true--the more you do it, the easier it is to do it.

On the other hand--I have company here this weekend, and lots of special events. Very challenging. But I am NOT willing to go back over my 140 barrier. So I'm gonna have to get clear and focused!

Water or COKE?????? Are you drink your water???

Subject: Water or Coke?

VERY INTERESTING!

WATER

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half the world population)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak
that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs
for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of
Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of
water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain
for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term
memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on
the computer screen or on a ! printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of
colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast
cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop
bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water
you should drink every day?

COKE

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries
two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from
the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke
and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the
toilet bowl and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour,
then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes
stains from vitreous China .

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds
Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour
a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble
away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola
to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into
the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix
with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8.. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke
into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run
through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen
grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your
windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1. the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.
It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric
acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major
contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the
commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place
cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean
engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

or Coke?

Did 1495 of 1550 yesterday--I'm really feeling on track, and I'm seeing progress on the scale (finally--I was stuck for a week.)

I look forward to the cold thing this summer--maybe it will save on air conditioning bills! ;)

On track this week, yesterday 1190, day before was 1446.

Audra come visit any time, I have a really comfy couch if you want to visit Sydney. Thankfully the cold thing works in summer too so you don't feel the heat as much. Only downfall was that in the evenings when there was a cool breeze I walked around in a sweater emoticon

2 for 2 so far this week. Saturday will be a tricky day for me as I'll be at an all day scrapbooking event...hoping to find ways to feel full but not ruin the progress I've made.

This challenge has been great! I've seen numbers on the scale that I hadn't seen since last November (now that I'm eating in range more consistently) emoticon

I did 1515 of 1550 today--made it, but just barely. The potlucks next week! I had veggies and fruit but no real lunch, hungry all day--but I've made it, and tomorrow's almost here!

Night all.

Deb, good luck with your potluck! Make sure you bring something you know you can eat and stick to only a bite of a couple other things you want to taste and you'll be FINE!

Oh Ti, can I come visit!?!?!? I'd love to see Australia, New Zealand and the Reef someday!

And OMG - I have been COLD all winter here!!! Freezing!!! I didn't realize it was a metabolic thing - I thought it was just a loss of fat, aka, insulation! I figured being cold was just one of those things they don't tell fat people about so that they stay on track! emoticon I am hoping that since I was cold all winter that I will deal with the temps here over the summer better. We get a lot of days in the high 90s, low to mid 100s and that's always been so hard on me in the past.

I did better with food today - stayed in the 1400s and that was after having two Kisses! WHOOO HOOOO!

I did 1441 yesterday, had to add a big snack to make it over the 1200 again.

Audra I'm in Sydney Australia. It's not really that cold, it's about 65F during the day, but I have body temp problems, I've read that it's called "dieters chill" and should go away when your body gets used to the new metabolic rate - with me it's just not happening! I'm cold all the time

Audra, your faithfulness is inspiring. Ti, I didn't really know it actually got that cold in Australia--which shows how out of it I am!!

Did 1496 of my 1550 today, and pleased. Tomorrow is a big potluck at work...I may have it as a slightly off day, or I may gird up my loins and do what needs to be done!! I'm ready to be back at my goal.

Ti, you're getting colder and darker... where are you? Sounds like your southern hemisphere from that info! I go "off salad" in the winter, too - but I still get in lots of fresh (usually raw) freggies. And I like clear-broth soups with tons of veggies - so that's low-cal and works for me. Although, with the sodium being so high, I try to not have soup more than twice a week.

Thanks for the info on the sleep... I haven't been getting quite enough sleep - because I'm losing time going to PT in the mornings. I will definitely have to work on that and see if it helps!

I've been in range - but barely... I'd like to get back down into the 1300s... instead of pushing my upper limit of 1550.

Audra, I've actually noticed the opposite, now that it's getting cold I'm hungrier all the time, I feel like heavy foods like thick soups and baked things. I love salad, but it holds no appeal for me in the cold weather.

I'm with you on the daylight savings hatred, by the time I get home from work at 6pm it's full dark, I just don't get anything done after work.

About the party, and Saturday. I believe I did go over, but not by a whole lot.

I had had a really good day, and even though I could only do one visualization, I had less of most everything, including my ultimate downfall, cake! There were two--and I had only a 1" slice of one, and perhaps less of the other. So that was a victory!

So I want today to be day 6. And I know I have done better this past week than I have since I wacked out about 6 months into maintenance.
