I used to be a size 16, now I'm a comfortable 14..
I'm only 5'2" so I guess my height makes a difference. I've noticed that 20 or so lbs on me is a dress size because of my height.

I started at 158 lbs, size 9 jeans, and size M shirts.

In the past three months, I have lost 20 lbs. I am now at 137.5 lbs, size 7 jeans (they are starting to get loose), and I bought exercise clothes in small the other day.

Thanks, 007JERSEYGIRL!

I gotta say, though, when you advised:
"If you were really hungry and gave yourself a bowl of veggies to eat, you would not only get super full which would make you stop, but it would take the fun (and the guilt!) out of it, which would probably also help make you stop."
I thought, "Take the fun out of it? That WOULD make me stop--stop eating the veggies!" emoticon

Well, I've had some good days this week. I'm noticing that wheat products and salt seem to trigger rampant appetite, regardless of actual hunger. When I limit wheat and salt, I have NO appetite--again, regardless of actual hunger.

I went nuts last night, but that's okay. It was a learning experience. I was celebrating my brother's birthday and learned that for me moderate alcohol consumption (3 beers in 5 hours) totally destroys any desire for control with food. This wasn't appetite; it was "I don't wanna be good, so I won't." emoticon

Today is a new day. I'm wiser and taking back control. emoticon

I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!

Back at the beginning for me, I was wearing size 14 pants, and they were pretty tight- I would say about two of them were comfortable or looked good. Now all all those 14s are really loose and kind of look too silly to wear to work. Now I am wearing some other 14s that had previously been too tight, and also some 12s in dress pants. You would think maybe I would have lost more sizes at 30lbs, but whatever! I am cool with it. I guess there is just a differense between one store's 14 and another's. Also, I have lost at least a cup size in bras, and thank god! My boobs are really big to begin with, so being so overweight did not help.

Wimpie - this is my advice for when you have your sort of hunger attack in the evening: 1. Drink water - it really can make you full. 2. If you are going to overeat anyway and there's little that can stop you, try to overeat on some thing good for you, or at least low cal! Like apples or cucumbers or popcorn or even cereal. That way the calories won't pile on so badly. If you were really hungry and gave yourself a bowl of veggies to eat, you would not only get super full which would make you stop, but it would take the fun (and the guilt!) out of it, which would probably also help make you stop. But at least you are aware of the problem so now you can figure out some way to change it!

Just reading all of these posts is inspiring. In August 07 I was wearing size 14petite (just cause I am(was) short and round) Now all of my size 12's are very baggy in the waist and butt. Last time I went shopping the 10's were a perfect fit. I actually chose not to buy them cause I was being picky. I also joined the swimsuit bootcamp so I want to wait until June before I buy anything. YAY

When I started I was forcing myself into 2 pairs of 16's (the only 2 that fit me). Now I am comfortably wearing my other pairs of 16's and even a few 14's. The last time I went shopping I bought a pair of 14's, also.

All your successes are inspiring!

OFEDEOZ, thanks so much for the words of encouragement--I needed them.

I had one whole good day and night yesterday! I didn't feel like rampaging through the kitchen in the evening, and I didn't want a snack when I woke up for my bathroom trips--just a couple sips of water. I was trying to cut back on salty foods to see if that would help weight loss and ease knee pain. Maybe that helped.

I know I don't have any real progress to brag about, but I feel like I lost 10 pounds yesterday! emoticon

When I started in I was in a size 26 pants. This weekend I bought 24's and they are a little big but I think they will shrink. They fit good in the leg but the waist was just a bit too big. My shirts were 24-26 and I have bought a 22-24. However, I work at a plus size clothing store and the women got me to try on a dress that was really cute. It was an 18! a little snug but with my spanx would probabaly been o.k. No where to wear a dress so didn't get it.

I bought a new suit--on-line--in a 10, which is one size smaller. When I tried it on, I was swimming inn it! I've gotta send it back and exchange it for an 8!

Fun--really fun!!

I started with size 18 tops and size 20 bottoms - I haven't done any real shopping, only for workout clothes - but my closet shopping has me in size 14 or 16 tops and size 16 or 18 bottoms. I'm pretty happy with that. I ultimately want to be size 12 top and size 14 bottom, I'm about half way so I must be doing something right.

Wimpie, hang in there, one little step at a time, and you can make it happen.

I've think I've gone from a 10-12 to 8, at least. We don't use US sizes here in Norway but everything I have from the US in 10s are wayyy too big. When it comes to tops and shirts, I would usually buy Larges but lately I have bought more and more Mediums. I can't wait to go back to the US in June and see if I can even fit into a 6!

At 195 lb I was wearing a size 18M jeans and XL tops
that were bulging. Now 3 mos later everything fits
comfortably but my jeans are two big in the legs.
My tops are roomy and T-shirts fit very nicely past
my hips even though they don't hang loose.

This morning my husband said "wow, you've lost a lot of weight". I've lost a total of 17 lbs so you can see it, even through loose fitting clothes. Now I
don't look like the Stayfresh Marshmallow Man.
I'm hoping to be into a size 16 jeans by the end of
May. I'm close!

Wow! You women are doing FANTASTIC!! Ravon27, you must do more exercising than I do when you lose weight. emoticon All my dieting and exercising tells me that 15 pounds is a dress size.

Right now, I'd be the person who doesn't show up for the class reunion because she's too ashamed. I've gained 10 pounds in the last three months.

Okay, I joined SparkPeople when I'd been home from the hospital for about two weeks (after getting organs removed I hadn't planned on), wanting get healthy and to keep off the 25 lbs I'd lost when ill--and go from there. I'd regained 5 lbs in the hospital already.

Okay, I quit smoking cold turkey at the end of December, and while I don't crave smoking any more, I do still have oral cravings/urges. My dentist told me no more gum because I have a "click" in my jaw.

But still... I had relost the 5 hospital lbs plus one more and... everything seemed to fall apart mid-March. I've regained 16 pounds total since then.

(Personally, I blame the TV show "Paul McKenna: I Can Make You Thin", because my appetite just snapped into action after watching the first episode, and hasn't quit. emoticon )

I have over 100 lbs to lose. I've managed to add a minimum of 2-3 fruits and veggies per day (up from 0-1), I've managed to include some exercise most days (up from 0). I haven't fled SparkPeople. I peak at myself in the mirror and feel despair, but tell myself the longest journey begins with a single step (which doesn't seem to be helping, by the way).

But nothing is overcoming the crazed urge to eat that generally sets in around 5-6 PM, lasts until I go to bed and has me snacking in the middle of the night when I wake up to visit the bathroom. I wake up every morning calm about food, thinking today will be better, but the cycle begins again. I've managed a max of 3 days with modest controls on my eating before I go on all day eating ramapages, consuming around 5000 calories each day for 3-4 days.

I'm still hanging on... thinking of switching my first goal from weight loss to maintaining. In 6 weeks, that would be 12 lbs I've "lost" (at the current rate I'm gaining).

I suppose I'm just venting my frustration and despair, unless someone has any ideas...

Through my many years of dieting and exercising, I have realized that 10 lbs. either gained or lost equals 1 size. I've gone from a size 22 to a size 16.

Im not sure how much I changed in the 3 months but since I started my lifestyle change in November I have gone from a size 15-16 ( XL in a reg. store if I was lucky) to a size 10-12 ( M-L in regular stores and having no problem finding things to fit! )

I had to have my wedding rings resized a full size - the jeweler actually suggested 1.5 sizes but I wanted to keep a bit of space to allow for having babies and getting a bit puffy!

Getting back on track after #1 while trying for #2!

I went from a size 18-20 to a size 14 in 3 months!
Even my ring and watch are loose. With the combination of lifestyle change and exercise, I now wear a smaller size than when I just dieted!
