If it does all that, I think I need to add that to my diet! I could really use some tooth and nail improvement. And lower cholesterol! Even better!

I'm not on a diet. I'm changing my diet.

flaxseed oil is great, it's the only suppliment I take because I get everything else from my diet. Flaxseed oil has higher levels of omega oils than fish and can actually repair holes in teeth and strengthen nails, not to mention lower your cholesterol.

Good luck, sounds like you're really on your way!

I haven't used flaxseed much in my cooking but it is mentioned so often on the boards here that I'm thinking about trying it out.

Thanks, my weight loss isn't too bad, I'm losing about 2/3 pound per week. I would like to get it up to 1 pound per week so I might start cutting back the flaxseed oil to every other day.

I agree with Drigbet: try to take a look at how your overall weight loss effort is going and ask yourself if you are satisfied with it. If things seem to be working for you, than maybe you have the right balance. Flaxseed, like nuts, is one of those foods that has many health benefits but also has a lot of fat. I like to make bran muffins as a healthy source of grain and fiber, and I like to put nuts and ground flaxseed in them, and I know that that makes them go way up in fat. But since I know this, I don't eat them every day, and I try to be careful about my other fat intake if I do eat one. Another option might be to take the flaxseed oil every other day. :)

How are you doing in your week to week weight lose? If you notice things slowing down then you may want to make more of an effort cutting back your fat. If you are within your calories and still losing weight I would not worry to much about it. If you notice your weight lose slowing then choose which one you want to cut back on your oil or your fat. If you choose the oil and notice I big difference in how you feel then you will probably want to add it back in and work harder on cutting back your daily fat intake.

...If you went running when you first started thinking about it, you'd be back by now.

...focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.

I go over my recommended fat level quite regularly but the fats I'm taking are the "good fats" I take a tablespoon of flaxseed (linseed) oil every day. Flaxseed oil has higher levels of Omega 3 than fish oils and has many benefits including strenthening nails, teeth, giving you added energy and reducing cholesterol. 1 tablespoon is about my daily limit of fat so if I have anything else during the day then it puts me over the limit. Is this ok or should I knock back on the flaxseed oil (I eat plenty of fish as well so probably get some from that source)
