This is a really good topic. Thanks for starting it Bev!

Motivation (to exercise) is a real issue for me. I moved onto stage 3, but need to pay attention to those goals. After reading this thread I am motivated to do so!

It is possible to turn your whole attitude around from a glass empty - to half full person. I am a walking - talking (and singing) example of that. If I can do it the rest of you can too! It has taken a long time, hard work and help. SP has the resources so don't give up. One goal at a time!!!

Ditto Larry. Although we cannot control other people's actions, we CAN control our REactions - and I choose to live a positive life! I'm a "glass half-full" kinda gal, and I find the more upbeat I am, the more others respond the same. I've decided to make a lifestyle change, not diet, and now it's becoming easier to make good choices. Much credit goes to all my SP family for your support!!

Good dmorning all. I reading about going from stage 2 to stage 3 I noticed there was a lot said about the lack of motovation. I am in stage 3 myself, about half way through. But years ago I found myself surrounded by negative people and decided that I was not going to be a negative person. I am a positive person (this is not to say I do not have bad days, I do). Motovation like discipline comes from within. You have to motovate yourself to move forward or you will get stuck in a rut of your own making. All you have to do is change your attitude and outlook on life. Now, go forth and enjoy this day. You will love it. Larry

Maybe there's something up with your email settings? I had that problem few weeks ago, my settings were all messed up.

If you're ready to move on to stage 3 you don't have to wait to get an email, you can change your stage on your start page, bottom left hand corner, there's an option to change your stage there.

I hope everyone is doing well on this next step.

Once you get in the habit of making healthy recipes and planning to make extras for your lunches and dinners during the week you can start to experiment. On Sat. I fired up the grill - pork ribs, london broil and salmon...I don't feel deprived (I don't usually eat this good but they were on sale!) I also made potato salad with olive oil mayo and a salsa bean salad. I am enjoying the leftovers and meeting my goals...You can do it too...THAT SCALE WILL MOVE SOONER OR LATER!!!

The beginning of Stage 3 came at the perfect time for me. I was suffering from lack of motivation already - as is most of us - but the action steps inspired me again!

MusicDeB1,

Thanks so much for the tip. It's one that eluded me. I've never planned ahead. I always ate what I was in the mood for. So my strategy is going to be to have a variety of foods to choose from that will fit into my new healthy way to eat. That way I won't have to give up my freedom of choice. Does that sound like a plan? Any other opinions?

Bonny Bev. emoticon
PS I also haven't moved the scale but my clothes have gotten bigger. It feels good to wiggle in the fabric.

I started stage 3 a couple of weeks ago as I was already doing e-diets before so I was in the habit of logging everything!

In addition to motivation, the idea is to plan ahead for your eating and make meal plans for the week ahead. I like to do extra cooking on the weekend so I have plenty of leftovers for busy weeknights - and this week is a monster! So I have lots of healthy choices.

Good luck! I know we can do this...the scale isn't moving much...but my clothes have gotten bigger! emoticon

I have kind of dragged my feet on changing as of yet...still working on one of the action steps for stage 2. I'm planning on starting stage 3 next week.

I won't start stage 3 until next week as I did and extra week of stage 1. I'm eagerly looking forward to the stage 3 experience.

I moved to stage 3 also because I feel this stage is where I need the most help.

I too have found stage 3 to be helpful so far--week one only. The motivation issue is core, I think, and it seems to be about creating life patterns, staying motivated as a normal way to feel, eating healthy as a natural pattern--it SEEMS that way from the first lesson.

I think we're going to like it!

Well, we're all in this together and I love the
company. So onward and downward! I want to put some of those recipes I printed out in a binder and
start making some of those dishes. My husband is starting to put these foods together as well, although he doesn't want to officially be on board. I'm resting my muscles this weekend as we're going to Frankenmuth, MI for my husband's 60th birthday dinner this weekend. Let me know what you're all up to so we can learn from each other.

I let myself go to stage 3, too. Because, when I read it, it's all about staying motivated. I need that. I have lost lots of weight before, just couldn't stay there. I know HOW to lose weight, I just don't know how to maintain. So, here I am.

I too have moved on to Stage 3, but don't really see any differences from 2 to 3? Am I missing something? My understanding of stage 3 is getting over those hurdles and keeping motivated. Please let me know if I'm right or missing something??

I, too, am just beginning Stage 3. I considered staying in Stage 2 for a while longer but then I realized that I transitioned from Stage 1 to Stage 2 without any difficulty so I am moving forward! If this is the way the plan has been set up, I'm going for it. I have had much success so far - the plan has not failed me - so onward and upward. I started Stage 3 Monday and I love it. Of course, I haven't found anything about this plan that I don't like!!!

I am conqueror, hear me ROAR!!!

I took a chance! I have the time to devote to learning whatever I need to learn. I also have the
time to do whatever I need to do. I found out that if I go back to Stage 2, you start from the beginning of stage 2. It's better if you don't bounce back and forth between stages. I'll keep you updated! If anyone else has and info they'd like to share. Please add your comments. Thanks!
This is my first day and it's Sat so I'm sure I'll find out more next week.
