I don't do brown bags anymore. When I did, just about anything went into them. When one works the overnight shift, food is important but you do not want anything heavy and then only in small portions. Since I retired, I no longer concern myself with brown bags. Sorry, now enjoy your day. Larry

I'm a bit of A and a bit of D, early in the week I'm sparked so I do really well, by the end of the week I've run out of ideas so just make boring sandwiches. If only I liked leftovers...

It is a challenge to pack healthy interesting lunches! I think I'd have to say I'm an A on lunches also--and that's a nice thing to realize! Thanks for bringing this up, Tisha!

I also like to take a serving of either a leftover from dinner, or something I 'batch cooked"--that batch cooking is the best thing ever. I almost always take a spinach salad, because I seem to be obsessed with them, and different things to go with, like red peppers, or boiled egg whites, or some sugar snap peas.

I like to have a sprouted grain bread with whatever I take, and maybe some jam to sweeten it up. And fruit--grapes, or an orange or apple, or sometimes a red or pink grapefruit.

Snacks are vital--if I don't have healthy snacks, I'm shot down! 3:00 is a total danger zone for me, but I've added fruit and a South Beach protein bar--and then it seems like I'm ok and don't overeat at dinner.

I actually think planning healthy snacks for the morning and (especially) the afternoon is one of the most important things I have done.

Great idea! Maybe you should start a new challenge link for a Healthy Lunch Challenge so people can post their successes and get new ideas etc...?

Hello everyone! This is great news! Those who don't pack lunch or need to improve, let's make this a goal for next week. How about it?

Redrane, good to hear from you. I like the statement you made, "After you get into the habit its not hard at all to make good lunches and snacks..." Team, let's keep that in mind.

Chow,
Tisha

Im definetely an A luncher.

I eat alot during the day, mainly because I work out on my lunch breaks so I usually pack:

-1 serving of left overs from the night before.
- at least 2 fruits - an apple, grapefruit, orange or pear usually.
- a small salad often with fruit or veggies on baby spinach
- some form of carb such as a few crackers or half a serving of pretzels.
- yogourt or a small serving of cheese

I eat the "main lunch" around 11. Then I go work out between 12 and 2 depending on my lunch shift that day. Then afterwards I often have the yogourt or cheese with either the apple, crackers, the salad.

Later in the day I usually eat the other options that I didnt eat after the work out.

By packing lots of fresh and healthy options I eat alot and stay full without taking in a bunch of calories. The variety keeps me from getting bored and by planning ahead I have foods that refuel my body correctly after my workouts ( protein and carb combos like the yogurt and apple )

After you get into the habit its not hard at all to make good lunches and snacks, especially with a big bin of pre-washed salad and a full fruit bowl in your fridge! =)

lots of fruit, a salad, an entree item, a snack of some sort and I keep Edy's sugar free fruit pops in the freezer at work because I sometimes MUST have something sweet.

I'd have to choose b-improving. I usually do pretty well with lunch. I stock up on Lean Cuisine...I really like the panini's. And I take something like carrots, an apple, almonds, a small cottage cheese, and a sweet 100 calorie pack for snacking through the day. I'm a grazer

I would have to choose *d* as well. I usually eat the same, either a pb and honey or jam sandwich and then fruit in the morning as a snack. If I don't take a sandwich, I'll eat a bowl of cereal.

I took a SparkPoint Challenge poll today. The question was:

What are your brown bag lunches like?

a) Healthy - I plan, prep, and pack
b) Improving - I make substitutions when I can
c) Unhealthy - I pack all the wrong things
d) Boring - I always eat the same foods
e) Missing In Action - I don't have time

i would have to chose *d*
lunch for me is always slimfast & water

I chose a) Healthy since I pack a balanced lunch every day. What's your answer?
