I saw a story about needing plastic surgery (like a tummy tuck) to remove the loose skin after weight loss, but in that case it was for people who had the bariatric sugery and lost weight very quickly. I prefer loose skin to fat any day tho!!! emoticon

Hi everyone. My ex sister in law had a friend that had that weight loss surgery done. Which left her with lots of hanging skin. The ex sister in law said that what she did was soak in hot bath and she would then see skin floating, dead skin cells (which sounds gross) in her bath water. Then would stand up and take a shower. Then lots of lotion after with drinking lots of water. I dont know this for fact but that is what I was told.

I had problems with this the last time i lost weight and I'm sure it won't be any better this time. I'll more than likely have to have it surgically removed. It will be worth it!

If you have back problems, try yoga! Make sure it's in an environment with an experienced teacher, but it'll tone your whole body & more likely than not will help your back :)

Hello everyone, where have you been? I thought that this thread was cut and buried. LOL!! Glad to have you back.

Now that I'm one month into this journey, I have added more strength training exercises to my fitness program. So here's another tip: Add more toning exercises. Three times a week with an off day in between each workout is excellent. My program is Mon, Wed & Fri. With alot of hard work, eventually the dimples will go away.

Happy, healthy journey all...Tisha

Thank you for that information because it has been a concern of mine as well. I have a lot of weight to loose and I hope my skin does not sag in the process.

So glad someone posted this thread....i've gone from a uk size 22 to a 14/16, i've always had a 'wobbly' stomach but because my weightloss has been gradual i thought it was ok until i've really been looking recently and noticed it is more wobbly loose than it used to be...i have a long way to go yet and need to try and firm up incase it does all head south! thanks for advice!

thanks too--I was thinking about this very thing myself and have been extra good about moisturizing and exfoliating and plan on keeping that up. The last thing we need is loose skin to bring us down....

Hi everyone. Patty, as in your case, the skin will return to it's original state (or close to it) if you lose the weight slowly. I've read somewhere that the extent to which your skin will tighten depends on age, length of time the skin was stretched and how much it was stretched, the amount of weight lost, the rate of loss, the amount of elastin in the skin and genetics.

The skin of an overweight person stretches to accommodate the increased volume of weight. After weight loss, the skin sometimes fails to tighten back. It becomes loose, hangs or sags and...this is reminder of the weight you once had.

Here are some skin care tips I got from 'Body Building' Magazine and TV ads:

1) Exfoliating your skin daily in the shower. Exfoliating will help the skins circulation and the balance of skin growth.

2) Then apply a cream such as Thiomuplex Cream, Oil of Olay, Renew by Avon, etc....to tighten the skin.

3) Eat foods high in vitamins A, E, C. Also use supplements in addition to your diet that supplies you with these vitamins.

4) Drink lots of water! Make sure that you keep your skin hydrated!

I hope this was useful. Best of luck on reaching your personal goals.

Tisha

I lost 50 pounds once before and because I did it slowly there was no problem with loose skin. It just kind of disappeared with the weight loss.

I have just started myself, but I think if you stick with the fitness exercises, I am not totally sure but I think it will tone as you lose so the loose skin shouldn't be a problem.
