I understand what Mark is going through because my niece is in the same boat. I wish I could be of some help but I don't have any answers to this one. Good Luck Mark and stay healthy.

Mark I hope you are feeling okay now. What type of diet do you follow now? I am currently doing a modified South Beach, adding a few carbs. All the best to you.

Dear ALL,
I joined this group in the search for a low protein, low carbohydrate diet. It does NOT exist. I developed a specific type of kidney stone that requires the limitation on certain types of protein. Yes it is there and most of the foods have it. Needless to say, I did some rearranging and trading of dishes. Five months post commencement, I became stone free. That was after 3 trips to the hospital and 4 more CAT scans. We have diets for our four legged friends that will accomplish this feat but, nothing exists for the two legged critters. I asked the doctor if we could whip up a batch in the back but he thought I was crazy. I have asked the dieticians at Spark about the above and no diet is there. I have found the diets to be balanced and genuine. I managed to lose 15 pounds very easily without having to increase too much exercise. Good luck with your programs, I will continue to observe.

Yes, I guess I need to change my thinking. I have always assumed we should have "protein" every meal.

I think part of the problem is when we think protein we think meat, cheese, eggs and other stuff. But there is protein in many of the things we eat. As long as the carbs are nit refined I see no problem with the eating plan.

The protein is there. The breakfast has 15g of protein and the lunch has 11g. That sounds about right to me. From what I can see, the SP meal plan has more carbs in the beginning of the day, and then more protein at dinner, which is a good balance and makes sure you're not getting too much of one or the other.

I was recording my food and looked at what was on the menu for the Spark diet today. I was shocked to see there is no protein for breakfast or lunch, other than the milk at breakfast.

Breakkfast - Raspberries, Milk, Shredded Wheat Spoon Size Cereal, Bread, Jams

Lunch - Baked Potato, Sour Cream, Red Ripe Tomatoes, Portobello Burgers

Do you think a weight loss diet should have more protein?
