I hate sitting in a messy house too.... but I hate housework more!!!!! I cant stand touching yucky dishes! Plus, the apartment complex we live in now doesn't have recycling service (so unresposnible), so unlike our selfish neighbors we stack all our recycling on our deck and then take it to the big free recycle dumpster at the firestation.... of course I hate housework so I tend to neglect that until someone is going to come over and I'm too embarassed that they'll see it....

In any case, whenever I finally DO get to cleaning up the house, it deffinitely counts as heavy cleaning!

If there were no rain, there could be no rainbows!

I'd like to be thin... but I like food better!

The house cleaning include in the cardio section is for heavy duty house cleaning though. I have always considered housecleaning to be excersize. I make sure to vaccuum and mop the floors consecutively, so that I can get my heartrate up a little. I don't consider that "heavy duty" so I don't track it, but I still feel that it should count as excersize. I need to check out that website now! Thanks for the info!

Vickie thanks for the website. I mow a lot of lawn, but it 99% rider and it takes me at least 5+ hours to do it. Stephanie, if I am in a good book I totally understand where you are coming from.
I wish I was more anal about house cleaning, I keep hoping I will grow into it, but it doesn't seem to happen. Since I am the only one to do it, it never seems to get done with all the other things I have to do. emoticon

Glad I stepped into this thread. I was not aware that their was a section in cardio for housecleaning.
I am so anal about the house being clean. I feel unrested if it is messy. Not that it never is believe me it gets downright slovenly.
I like to be able to count calories burnt cleaning since I do it so often.

Am I a total bum? I hate housework and mowing lawn! I'd rather curl up on the couch with a good book. Of course, I can't stand for the house to be messy while I read, so I usually straighten up first.

I think counting the calories burned is a great idea. I usually don't break a sweat doing anything other than scrubbing the tub, though!

MattsMommy, I am with you! I hate housework but give me work outdoors and I will do that all day long! I wish I could find a guy that would rather do house work then work outdoors and it would be wonderful. My hubby does not do squat unless I pitch a fit! I get it all!

Jayne, I am like you! My hubby can't figure out why I would rather spend a hot sweeaty 45 minutes out mowing the lawn instead of 10 minutes doing dishes!

Heavy cleaning is listed under Home Activities in the cardio section. 60 minutes burns 378 calories
I wish I was a clean freak. I prefer being outside mowing the lawn.

Hi everyone. I'm wondering what people think: does housework count as a cardio activity? I don't think it's on the Spark list...but it must burn some calories, right? How much? Any thoughts? I'm a clean freak and I'm hoping that my cleaning obsession has some benefits in terms of burning calories!
