Had a few bad choices this weekend. Going to have to keep busier tomorrow. Hopefully I can mow lawn so will be outside more. Have some flower beds to get taken care of also.
Madonna, know what you mean about feeling guilty for bad choices. We can all get ourselves back on track with all the support from our team mates.

I have just returned from a food feast and wine fest. 5 weeks of thoughtlesss eating and hundreds of bad choices later, I am consumed with guilt and feeling quite hopeless at the task ahead. One day at a time. Why can I never learn that this is a lifestyle not a diet.

Jayne, it sounds as if you are talking about me. If I am busy I forget to eat because I am not hungry. But if I am in the house all day with the fridge in sight I am in trouble. I guess that is why I like to walk so much.

I have an easier time when I keep busy. If I have too much down time I tend to want to eat, even when I am not hungry. If I keep busy outside, or anyplace away from food it is easier.
I can be my own worst enemy at times.
I also have trouble with eating times. We are busier outside with things and tend to eat fairly late at times.

I do fairly good when I am the only one I have to worry about which is about 6 months out of the year. The other 6 months my parents are home and they are difficult to fit in my eating habits. I have been working with my mother to cut done of some of the not so healthy habits and to incorporate healthier ones in for dinner. One of the problems that is hard to alter is the time slot for dinner. I have a hard time getting dinner early enough so I am not going to bed on a full stomach. I just have a hard time, having to separate dinners and or times. Everything else with this life style change seemed to be easy to adapt to. I of course have good days and not so good days, but all in all I am glad to have found "SP". I am happy to be apart of this whole thing.

I have days where it's harder than others. For the most part, though... it's been a lot easier than I thought it would be!! Yay!

I feel like a switch went on in my head and everything became clear. I have had no trouble sticking to the diet or exercise and I have managed not to drink any alcohol since starting in January.

I agree with Robin - it does seem "easy" because of all the knowledge and support we get at SP. There are definitely set-backs, but it's great that we have the resources here (including each other!) to get past them.

I know I'm struggling right now, but feel like I am getting back on track with the help of all my Spark Buddies.

It’s easier in the sense that I understand the process. It still takes a lot of resolve and determination to choose foods wisely and get my exercise in. But the biggest difference I see now from all the other millions of times I tried to lose weight, is that my mind is in the right place. I don’t get frustrated and give up if I didn’t lose any weight that week. And that is solely because of joining Spark, and learning from so many others that it isn’t just some strange problem with my metabolism, it’s the way it works, and if you keep at it, the weight will come off!

I will say it’s gotten a lot easier in the last two weeks, because even though the scale hasn’t changed, almost everything I put on is too big!! emoticon

I just had a bad 5 days with eating and exercise, but once I got back into my routine, it felt easy again. Spark is awesome!

Look at a day where you are extremely satisfied at the end. It is not a day when you lounge around doing nothing, it is when you have had everything to do and you have done it.

I have found that this time that I have stuck with it.. it is easier.. I put it right into m ydaily routine.. I wake up, go to work, go work out, go home, finish working out if needed (weights), cook dinner, sit on couch and read, and go to bed. In between those is dealing with my 5 year old of course, somedays it doesnt work out like that, some it does.. but its a part of my life now, its GREAT!

The eating healthier is much easier than I anticipated- In fact, I often find some of the things I ate before make me queasy now... The exercise I go back and forth on, sometimes it's easy and others I just don't want any part of it- Then there is the logging- I actually enjoy being on SP, but I get so irritated trying to log my foods sometimes, it's weird.

Some days are easy, the days when I don't have to many activities on my plate. The days that I have little or no time are the hardest. The excuses of no time to exercise come into play then.

I agree with you Jayne. It is easier when you're able to get outside. The weather lately has really stunk. I still have motivation to keep going even though I haven't made the progress that I hoped, but it helps to be able to see that others go thru the same things as I do. It also helps when SP sends articles to read. They keep reminding you why you are doing what you're doing.

Becky

I find it is easier for me when I can go outside and either walk or take a hike. The weather also seems to have a bearing on it. When we get rain for days on end I don't feel like exercising.
Eating is something I am still trying to control. I sure wanted some French Fries and a juicy cheeseburger today, but didn't have it. Did have a fun size Butterfingers though. emoticon

I do think it has been easier then expected because you learn to make choices and how to make better ones. Plus there are no foods that you can't have. If you really want that chocolate you learn to track it and live with the choices. You don't feel like you failed because you had a piece of birthday cake or anything else. You learn to control the portions and eat healthier.

All in all, I'd say easier than I thought. BUT, I still can't get into exercising. And I just got back from a women's retreat weekend with my church friends, and there was trigger food EVERYWHERE. Chocolate, nuts, Cheetos, lasagna, homemade pimento cheese and chicken salad, incredible chocolate cake, cookies, etc. I planned ahead and took my portion controlled snacks I love, but I still found myself snacking and eating with far less control than I had hoped. It was my first BIG test, and I think I made about a C-....Ah well! I might have flunked!

It's been easy in ways that I have learned how to eat and exercise, but the weight just doesn't seem to want to change on the scale. I'm just glad I do my measurements because I am getting rid of inches at least. I'm waiting for the day the scale changes.. LOL It will be soon though. I can feel it !!

It is much easier! Some days I still have the challenge of getting my workout in for the day, but eating clean and making good food choices has not been difficult at all.

Some days it's still hard--today my grandmother came home with pizza for lunch (possibly my all-time favorite) and since I was already starving, it was really tempting to eat it, BUT I said no, made a sandwich, and half an hour later I was full and happy that I'd made a good choice and not blown my sodium levels through the roof. I know that there's a good chance I'll hit my next "milemarker" in the next few days, and I didn't want to mess that up.

But yeah...aside from the few and far between days when I'm frustrated, this really has been much easier than I expected. I think a lot of it is having the trackers available, and the support from the SP community. I still have trouble believing just how much weight I've lost sometimes--and grocery shopping? SO much easier! Who knew it was actually fun to pick out fish at the seafood counter? (Okay, maybe I'm the only one who thinks that.)

I must say I agree with you! I was so scared to start for fear of another failure. But the longer I do this, it just isn't hard! It's actually easier to eat right and do what I should than to just eat whatever and whenever. I have to assume it's because I was at a point where I was ready to accept the change (kind of like quitting smoking - you can't do that until you're ready either). Now I feel a bit like a recovering alcoholic must feel!

Now that we've all been working at this for a while, I was wondering if people have been finding it easier that they ever imagined it to be? I've found it to be pretty easy. Of course I have rough days but, I really never thought it would be this easy.
