Hey Gang - To answer the question (a few of you had) about starting over, I have done so twice now. Once to stay on track with you all, I went back to fast break in January (and found that it got me OFF a plateau and losing weight again) and again last week. Unfortunately, I have gained back 8 of those hard lost pounds in the last 2 months. It's working again, as I have lost 3 of those regained pounds as of this morning.

I highly recommend going back to Fast Break if you are stuck and need a boost. Even after almost a year here on SP, I find that I need a reminder every now and again!

Good luck!

M.Jaye

MoosieMom, I was 110 also with no problem until I reached my 30s. Then I noticed that my effortless weight maintenance required some work. I used to wear a size 4, now I'm 10 or 12. I remember I was horrified the first time I reached 120; now I'd love to be 120. It's all relative. Just think, on the moon I'd be light as a feather.

Still in stage 2. Don't think I am ready for stage 3 yet. I still don't have a strong handle on the eating thing. Exercise is great, though!

I was 110 through high school and college and thin. Not sure I could get that far back or if I even should. But it is a good suggestion. And perhaps too, I just need to keep working on the exercise thing, just because I have lost weight does not mean I am in shape yet. That may come with more time working out. I work out at Curves, walk, and do some of the Spark People Videos. My favorite SP videos are the 5 (or 6) minute butt video and the 15 minute abs video. I try to do those twice a week.

You're welcome, Moosie. I hope it works. What about a previous weight where you felt fit? What did you weigh when you were thin?

I followed the instructions, I will have to see if it works. I took a guess at how much I think I might still want to loose. Thanks for pointing out how to make the change, I appreciate your help. emoticon

MoosieMom, yes, if I were you, I'd change to a new goal weight. Here is what the SP Weigh-In page says:

Your calorie needs will decrease as you lose weight. To give you control over your account, we do not automatically adjust your calories when you weigh-in. We recommend clicking the "Change" link next to the diet goals on your MyTools page to adjust your program every time you lose 10-15 pounds. Your program will automatically recalculate your calorie and nutrient needs based on this information.

I was always thin too, it was not till after having children and being a working mom that the weight came on. I probably am not overweight according to the charts after loosing the twenty pounds, but it is easy to see there is still more to loose. I am not really sure how much though. So do I readjust my scale and move it down another 5, 10 or 20 pounds?

Congratulations on losing 20 pounds, MoosieMom. I don't go by official charts to determine my ideal weight. I was always thin until later in life. I know how much I have to weigh to look good and have no excess fat.

According to the "official" charts, I'm not overweight. But I still have at least 20 pounds to lose just to reach 120 pounds--and I always swore I'd never allow myself to gain that much weight. I was always 110, but I'll settle for 115. But I'm not going anywhere fast.

Originally when I signed up the Spark system told me I should loose 10 pounds. I think somewhere along the way I added another couple of pounds on and I am considering adding on again, although I do not remember how I did it. So I have met goals, but I have been changing them as I go. I started loosing weight this fall when I took a class at my local curves and before I joined Spark people. I just weighed in at Curves tonight and I have lost another pound. When I combine what I have lost in total it is exactly at 20 pounds today! I hope this is not all to confusing, but the bottom line is that if I look at myself I am still carrying too much weight around my abdomen.

I am at the same point and also confused. I also got the email about switching to stage 3. I do not feel ready for it. As I look at my body I can tell that I really need to loose more weight. I still have more around my middle than I want. By reading a little of stage 3 I really felt like I was not ready. I still want to loose and I am tracking everything and I do not plan on stopping anytime soon. It sounds like many of you have felt the same way. emoticon

I moved to stage 3 back when I got the email to move. I was unsure about it at first as it seemed more for maintaining but I am far from ready for that. I am still tracking my food as well as my fitness though. Still measuring everything too. I'm not sure when I'll be ready to give all that up, if ever, only time will tell I guess.

I'm going to continue to track, it works for me! I cant always keep the numbers running in my head, and I might remember after it's too late "oh wait, I had a kudos earlier, no I'm 100 cals over". Plus, there are tons of studies that show that people who go through significant weight loss and continue to track their food are the ones with the best success at maintaining. I dont track every single day anymore, but I'd say I track 4 or 5 days a week.

If there were no rain, there could be no rainbows!

I'd like to be thin... but I like food better!

Thank you everyone for your comments.
I too will continue to track everything. I don't really see why in stage 3 they tell you to just track once a week. I like having the tracker.
Before I moved on to stage 3, I went back through stages 1 and 2 and read everything again. A lot of stuff I printed up and have around the house were I can see it and stay motivated.
ImRN.. YOU ARE AWESOME !!! YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION TO ME !!!
Lots of love,

I moved to stage 3 earlier last month. I reached my goal weight at the end of the month. I continue to track everything for two reasons. One: my ranges have changed a couple times recently due to reaching goal. Two: I need to monitor my intake until I am no longer losing and also not gaining. I have lost an extra 1.5 lbs already since "reaching goal." I thought I would be fine to not track, but I do feel a bit of separation anxiety (so to speak) at the thought of not tracking my food for an extended period of time. We'll see how things go.

I think Stage 3 makes you more responsible for yourself as you do not have to track everything. I am finding though that is the easy way to get off track so I have gone back to tracking excercise as well as food. I find it keeps me on track better.

I'm still in stage 2 because I do not feel I am ready to move on. I usually do very well staying in my calorie range, usually complete all 3 of my daily goals (do not always get enough sleep), but I am on and off with the exercise. Because of the exercise not being where it should be, I think that is why I have only lost 5 pounds. Until I lose a little more weight I do not want to move onto stage 3. Also, most days I am low in protein.
Has anyone actually started over with the stages? Did it help get you back on track?

I've been a slacker too .. I need to start tracking again!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. As we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

I've been in stage 3 for a few weeks now- I am still tracking everything- The only difference I have seen is that I have gotten lazy the last 2 weeks- But I wouldn't blame that on the stages- I seriously have considered starting all over though...

How many of you have moved to stage 3? How many are still in stage 2?
If your in stage 3, are you liking it?
