Glad you were able to enjoy your lunch and still stay on track. Once your fellow workers see that you are determined to stick with eating healthy, it won't be a big deal anymore. Pretty soon they will be ask you for advise.

Hey gang! I survived the lunch meeting with eating my big salad and having a small slice of thin crust cheese pizza for only 200 calories. I stayed away from the breadsticks and sauce and the homemade brownies and lemon bars!! I am proud I resisted all the snacks and since I budgeted for the pizza I think I'm ok.

Trisha you cannot change the world only yourself. Eat your healthy food and don't feel guilty. Probably no one will care and if they do, too bad, and some of them will wish they had thought of it. Good luck.

I went today after work and bought all my salad fixings and made myself a salad to take with me tomorrow so I'll be filling up on that instead of pizza. I also got some healthy snacks and grapes to have because someone said today they are bringing brownies to snack on!! I said something to my boss and she just brushed it off, but she is not healthy (eats fast food daily!)
Oh well at least I'll be healthy and hopefully will be strong enough to resist all the temptations tomorrow!

Pizza is not THAT bad, as long as you know exactly what you're eating!
Ask where they're ordering it from, and if it's a chain look up the nutrition facts.
I've learned that a Hawaiian pizza from Round Table on the thin crust is only 81 cals per slice. It's a little high in fat, but it's actually LOWER in fat AND calories than the Vegetarian pizza... go figure. so watch out for that, but you can still eat pizza and EASILY stay where you want to be for the day.
Just know exactly what you're getting instead of guessing. If they're gonna order it from a good local place look up the nutrition facts of a chain pizza that you think looks and tastes really similar, it will at least be a good reference.

Plus most pizza places have salad these days, just ask the boss to order salad for everyone. I'm sure many others wont mind crunching down on some salad if it's in front of them and available.

If there were no rain, there could be no rainbows!

I'd like to be thin... but I like food better!

Trisha that's the spirit, if you budget for it, almost everything is okay but just a nibble.

Good luck and keep those pounds coming off.

The boss said if we wanted to order something besides pizza that she would do it on an individual basis but not sure where I can have something delivered that would be healthy in our town. I had thought about bringing my own salad and eating that and then maybe have one small piece of cheese pizza but wasn't sure. I know that night I have my grandpa's 91st b-day so I'll have boiled shrimp, salad and a dessert there I'm sure. I know the shrimp and salad will be ok so I guess I could have a little pizza.
Thanks for the encouragement, that's why I love this site!

I would bring a salad and healthy snacks with you, If you really want 1 slice of pizza you could. But I would look for cheese or veggie, stay away from the meat pizza, since they are higher in fat. Plus you don't have to eat the whole piece. Maybe cut in half. But fill up on your salad first. emoticon

You know I used to have that problem I worked in a mill personnel department with a bunch of burly guys so food was definitely not healthy and calorie conscious and birthday cakes seemed to be a regular occurrence. I used to just politely take a piece of cake and take a couple of bites casually putting it down and when it came time to go back I would take it back to my desk where it would quietly disappear.

As for those work lunches, make sure you have a good breakfast and eat sparingly at lunch. Vegetarian pizza, one slice will not hurt, you can budget for it and have salad for supper. That way there are no lengthy explanations and everyone just assumes you are a very light eater. You might suggest, if you are in a position to do that, that a veggie and fruit plate might be nice along with the pizza. I have gone as far as to make one at home and bring it in for everyone.

Hope that helps a bit. In any case hang in there.

I say have ONE SMALL slice of pizza (hopefully there's one with lots of veggies, otherwise go for cheese only) and bring yourself a big healthy salad and jug of water to go along with it.

Good luck!

Do it anyway. Only YOU can change YOU. If the bosses aren't going to buy food that caters to everyone's preferences, it's totally reasonable for you to bring your own. Last Friday I even brought my own food to out scout Blue & Gold banquet! The only comments I heard were "that looks good!" and "what's in that?" I was proud of my decision and willpower and was able to keep within my calories for the day. We constantly give people trouble at work but ours is all in fun. Hopefully no one would be truly rude that you were not eating the "work food!" Good luch with whatever you choose to do.

I have shared before that my work environment isn't exactly healthy or geared towards eating right (Yesterday chocolate cake in copy room!!) and we are scheduled to have a training all day on Friday and we are working through our lunch hour. My boss is buying pizza for us. I of course would love to eat pizza but don't think it would be smart for me to do! (is there any healthy pizza) I don't want to feel like I'm not trying to be part of the 'team' and doing something different by bringing my own lunch! and I don't want to hear all the slack from the coworkers either! Any suggestions???
