I love grocery shopping. I only do it on the weekends when my hubby can watch the kids. It is so nice to be able to REALLY shop and read labels. Quick note on the high fructose corn syrup, in bread Aunt Millie's makes a loaf that has none, it says it right on the package. It's a good bread too!

Look at a day where you are extremely satisfied at the end. It is not a day when you lounge around doing nothing, it is when you have had everything to do and you have done it.

It's been amazing to me as I started to use the SP tracker just how many calories I can eat in a day without even realizing it! I'm so grateful for this tool, because even though it's not 100% accurate it really has changed my attitude about what I put into my body.

My husband eats 80% raw and organic when able. He started 2 years ago because of a cancer diagnosis and is now cancer free. So I have no excuse as the goods are here handy but I still don't follow his example. Why? Why? Why?

Think of all the things you will save on later, after losing all the weight.
Clothes, obviously.
Less skin = less lotion, lol.
Also less powders, shaving cream, time spent in the shower because there is less area to clean. emoticon
Cheaper shoes, won't need quite as much support.
Maybe I'll be able to get rid of the 2 sets of insoles if I get rid of the weight.
Less on Dr. bills.
I can buy a smaller car with regular seat belts.
And the list goes on.
This is my silly way of saying- it will be worth it.

I tend to buy a lot of frozen vegetables they are just as good as the real thing & they last longer. I find that I'm going to the store more offer b/c I have no snacky food for I'm eating more fruits & veggie but I never want to totally stock up b/c they go bad fast.

Eating healthy is more expensive but I try and get 1 or two things that I don't have in the pantry each time i go to the store. That way I can keep the grocery bill down to a low roar! We don't have Costco where i live but we do have Sam's Club and that is pretty much the same so I use that every chance I get. Sooner or later I will have a great stach of healthy foods and won't have to worry about subing anything on the meal plans!

My grocery bill has risen also as I'm buying lots more fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables. It's worth it though. Now if I could find a replacement for Cheetos that a 4 yearold would like.

If it is to be, it's up to me.

I like rice cakes as well, even the chocolate ones aren't too bad on the calories either! It took me awhile to get used to them but now they are a staple in the pantry!

We generally have to go to 3 stores to be successful at getting all the right stuff, for the best prices! Safeway, Trader Joe's, and Costco...
Safeway, actually, has really impressed me lately. Our city just upgraded to a new store about 3 times the size of the old store... at first i was dissapointed, but now i'm glad! They have a lot more of the organics and whole wheat and things in the "safeway' brand...

We invest in a lot of good snacks! sure, it's stuff that means spending a little more money, but it also means i dont deprive myself when i'm still hungry, dont mess up my calrie counts for the next meal, and dont whine at my BF 'cause he can eat frozen chimichangas and as many jalepeno potato chips as he wants... i just pull out my own tastey snack and feel five thousand times better for it!!!

Try mini flavored rice cakes! I like the cheddar flavor myself... they taste like the worst junk food on the planet and you can eat 10 of them for only 70 calories!! plus, they're rice cakes, so they're actually filling and satisfying, and the cheese powder makes them seem SO junk food tasting... i think i like them better than chips!

Also instant oatmeal with fruit flavors and jello sugar free fat free instant pudding!

But dont get snacks just cause they're healthy... if you're not going to eat them... or wont enjoy them when you do, you're just going to turn to the same old stuff!! Find good things you like just as much as the bad stuff!!!

If there were no rain, there could be no rainbows!

I'd like to be thin... but I like food better!

I agree on the cost issues of eating healthy! I amazed how much fruits and veggies truly are, but we still continue to buy them. I have seen an increase in out grocery bill now that we are buying more produce and more fish, oh well it will all end up better in the end. I love farmer's markets but unfortunately for me they are only a summer thing in Iowa!

I agree with farmer's market or produce stands. That seems like such an immediate expense to eating healthy. A $2 bag of chips seems cheaper than $4 broccolli and $5 oranges. I know in the end I am saving dr. bills, but junk is sometimes cheaper and easier. I usually buy produce one place and the other groceries else where.

Local Farmers Markets are a great place to get fresh produce, too. We try to buy only locally grown veggies. Even though we're in Hawaii a lot of fruit comes from Mexico and South America, but I love apples so we'll buy them anyway... =o)

I have found several grocery shopping tricks that really work for me. I keep a magnetic pad on the fridge and we add things that we know we are out of as we use them. Then the day before I go grocery shopping, I make a menu for the next week to 10 days. I then make my list according to my menu. I then write my menu on a calendar on my fridge. I work night shift and my hubby cooks occasionally. This helps everyone know what to expect for dinner and it keeps me on track. I have saved alot of money this way. Also doing "big" grocery shopping every 2 weeks saves me money as well

I went grocery shopping last night -this time I took my husband with me, so he could get an idea of what details go into simple stuff like shopping when you are trying to redirect your lifestyle ( -gotta long ways to go)!. -To be healthy, I think it's all about planning (which I failed to do, hense that's why we were in the supermarket for two hours!!!! -and no, there was not a long line -we went late and were the only ones in the supermarket!). It might take some time, but next time will definately plan for the occasion, as our check book took quite a beating last night!

I think it's amazing how people don't really notice what's on label (or choose not to).. and even worse that there are servings sizes on those labels.. Alot of times my mom says oh it's not that bad... except that she's been eating 2 or 3 servings at once... I'm trying my best to break that habit..

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. As we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

YES IT DOES! I just wish my husband would jump on the bandwagon like yours. The more sodium and grease (and pepsi), the happier he is. Good thing the kids are following my lead!

I went grocery shopping last night and I was looking at every box or bag that I picked up to see how many calories there were, I was so surprised! I can't believe how many caloires I must have been eating before! Maybe I never paid attention before because I didn't want to know! Even my husband started looking at the nutrition labels on the packages!
It feels good to be healthy!!!
