That's a TERRIFIC way to look at it Maddie!!!

And always remember friends, that even if the scale doesn't show it, there are MANY other ways that you can measure your success. Perhaps you've lost inches, your clothes fit better, you sleep better or just FEEL better over all?

Finding ways to recognize and celebrate your success is key to staying motivated and not give up whe it gets tough.

With the attitudes that you guys have - you WILL be successful!

You are absolutely right! I am in my 3rd week and I am really having a hard time which is partly due to the fact that it is coming to my time of the month. Why can't the men get cursed with something like this although I don't think they could handle it. They can be such wimps sometimes. emoticon

What a good idea! I'd been thinking that I'd fill up milk jugs with as many pounds of water as I'd lost, but the bowling ball is a great idea! Don't tell anybody I work in a bowling center and didn't think of this one! I need to set my goals in 15 pound increments and see how many bowling balls I can lose! I'm loving this!!!

So this morning I was thinking: saying goodbye to those first 10 lbs I lost during the first two weeks was certainly inspiring. But the honeymoon is over and now I'll be lucky to lose two lbs a week, three weeks out of the month (taking into account that I will probably lose nothing during that time of the month).

But really, what is two lbs? Have you ever picked up a two lb. roll of beef at the supermarket? Heck, just a one lb. roll of beef is fairly heavy when you consider that it use to be on you. What about five lbs? My laptop weighs five lbs. Again, pretty significant when you realize that it use to be five lbs on you.

I was pretty depressed this morning when I realized that I had only lost 12 lbs. So I went into my closet and dragged out my 12 lb. bowling ball. It was an instant cure to my depressed state (that thing is heavy!).

Sometimes we just don't realize the progress we've made by looking at the numbers alone. Sometimes we need an outside reference - something tangible that's more objective - something that allows us to stand back and put a context on our successes.

Maddie
