Well, I used to be a big soda, coffee, drinker, no water. Now I drink my 8 a day, at least. I use Water sensations, no calories (Found at Target). They have great flavor and it's almost like having a sweet. I'm not crazy about crystal light and those other powdered ones, water sensations are liquid and mix well. I don't like it too sweet so I mix one package with 750 ml of water, a little over 24 ounces in a water bottle and keep it with me all day (at work, at home, in the car, etc.) I used to flavor every time I drank, now I drink without flavor about 50% or more of the time. Now I crave water, it's great!

Keep the ball rolling!

My secret is to ALWAYS have some with me. I'm less likely to buy a soda or something if my water is already in my hand.
I am also lucky enough to be always thirsty so I really don't have to work at it very much. I just have to make sure it's water I am drinking and not something else.

I keep a water bottle within reach at all times while I'm at work. I find myself sipping from it all the time, and before I know it, it's time refill the bottle!

I bought a 1.5 L bottled water and I drink all of it over the first few hours of my day, then I fill it back up with water and take my time to finish it the rest of the day. This has been helping me a lot since I was having so much trouble getting in my 8 cups a day; now this way I am getting more then I need of water!

i have a 24 oz. glass that I keep with me all day long. every time I empty it, I immediately refill it. I bring a water jug with me wherever I go. I usually end up drinking over 150 oz. a day effortlessly.

I don't mind drinking water and sometime will add lemon to it for a little extra flavor. I have about 4 nalgene 32 oz bottles and always have them filled in my fridge so I make sure I am getting it drank. During the work week I have a bottle on my desk at all times and try and drink one before lunch and drink water with lunch and then get another one done before I go home!

I have a really hard time drinking 8 glasses of water. I most of the time get to 6. But on weekends some days I am lucky if I get 1. I put a slice of lemon in mine and ice. But I find I get really cold if I have drank to much water. Plus then I have to pee all the time which I don't like. I think both of these things discourage me from drinking water.

Also it is pure laziness for me to drink water. Like right now I don't know where I set my water bottle and I am sitting here thirsty but no water bottle next to me and I don't want to get up and look for it. So when this happens usually it is easier for me to get a glass with ice and grab a pop sounds strange but true.

I have a reusable water bottle with a straw. And I just keep it next to me all the time. Next thing I know my water bottle is empty. It holds 22 oz and I fill it up 4+ times a day.

I have a hard time drinking plain water at times but is best to. I squeeze some lemon, lime or even fresh orange in it. Float the slices in as well. Tart cherry's and cherry juice, pomegranate, or even watermelon works. I also grate fresh ginger in a pitcher and let it set in fridge as i enjoy cold iced water. The ginger helps if your a bit nauseous. Have even put peppermint in my water.
Think about any flavor you normally enjoy would work. Even the cucumber and lemon is good to me. Gives it a fresh taste. I never add any sweeteners.
My favorite drinking container around the house is actually a wide mouth ball or mason canning jar, one quart size. Is odd but it works for me. Fill these up 4 or more times and i'm good.

One more thing...and this is how lame I can be sometimes...but I have one of those mixer cups that has the actual ounces written on the side, one day I was just messing around and figured it took me five big swallows to reach 8 ounces...-Now I have a good idea when trying to estimate how much water I'm getting when I can't measure it...I'm lame like that - emoticon

-Not being a big water drinker myself, it was difficult at first -I had to try and find a way to make drinking water a habit. -Big diet soda drinker here! -I decided to take a water bottle, fill it with 20 oz. and try to drink that first thing in the morning before I have my coffee -I might get down half of it while getting ready for my day. Then, keeping my water bottle full, I try drinking it between meals, a bottle between breakast/ lunch and a bottle between lunch/dinner another bottle before bed and I also keep the bottle by my bedside...it helps, taking it with me wherever I go...

There are days I feel like 8 cups is going to result in my early demise via drowning- But I do it anyhow. I find it much easier on work days because the air in my building is incredibly dry- I always have water with me, in the car, at the store, at my desk, watching TV- I easily drink 6-10 cups at work, and at least a bottle at the gym. And at home I just remember I have to drink at least 2 bottles (each of mine holds a little over 4 cups). I only drink water and milk- And milk adds too many calories, LOL.

The stage that I am on is drinking water. I've been a regular 6-cup-a-day gal for quite some time, but was rarely getting in the 8. One of the tips that SP listed was to drink one glass of water first thing in the morning! By simply doing this I am now drinking 3 cups before I even leave the house - it used to be one!
I am not sure what it is, but I drink the first one, the second follows easily, and then I start the third because I need to take my pills after I eat! Simple thing, but it has sure worked for me!

It doesn't have to be done perfect, it just has to be done.
Flylady.

I've been carrying a 500 ml bottle with me where ever I go. WhicH I keep filling up. When I get bored with water I pour about a 1/3 of one of those crystal light individual packets in it and it gives it some flavors without any calories. A full packet is just to sweet, more like when we drank koolaid back when we were kids. I don't always make the 8 a day but I sure have been trying too.

I drink most of my water when I am at work. We are very lucky that our company supplies a water and ice dispenser. What my trick is I bring a glass or cup from home and fill it 3/4 of the way with ice and the remainder with water and I drink out of a straw. I always make sure to refill on each break. I also sometimes bring a bottle of water and make sure to refill on my breaks.

Each time I enter the kitchen, I drink a glass. I work from my home and have a sticky note on my monitor that says "DRINK!" This helps motivate me to not only drink more water, but get up and move around. Plus every time I login to sparks, that empty glass motivates me to go drink a glass or two.

If its to be, it is up to ME!

Some people have a really hard time drinking water. I my best friend gags when she tries to drink it. But have you ever tried lemon water? I drink that when I get tired of plain water. You could also try lemon water with a little sweet n low, or what ever artificial sweetener you like.
Give it shot, you might like it.. :)

Well, I was just barely making it to eight 8-oz glasses of water a day. I started drinking one 16-oz glass every morning before I even eat breakfast(usually while I'm cooking it). Then I have one down. Then I have 16-oz during/after strenth training and the same during/after cardio. I also like to take a bottled water with me in the car. That right there is your required minimum. Try these or just squeeze in a glass here and there throughout the day and it doesn't seem quite so monotonous. Good luck!

Ok, subscribing to this thread. I could really use some ideas!! For several years I haven't had even one glass of water. After joining SP, I started trying to drink it. Did ok for about a week at reaching my 1 glass a day goal...then joined a challenge and saw so many people drinking anywhere between 8 and 12 glasses a day...I tried to compete with that and ended up beating myself up so much I haven't had one since. emoticon But now I have reset my goals...am going at my speed, and realizing I can't compete over my head. So I could really use some ideas on getting some (ANY!) water. lol

Hi Paula,
I always keep bottles of water in my fridge. When I drink one, I fill it back up with water from my fridge, and usually grab another one. I used to drink diet soda all the time and now that I have pretty much cut that out of my liquids(maybe one a week but no more then two a week),I drink more then my 8 glasses of water a day.
I can't really drink water from a glass. For some reason, I don't like it that way. When I drink it from a bottle, it goes down so much easier...
Have a wonderful weekend.

Sometimes it may seem hard to work in those eight glasses of water into a busy or hectic life.

What's your secret that you can share to help others who may have a problem getting good ole' H2O?!

For me, I fill one of those 32 oz refill cups from the local convenience store with crushed ice from Sonic (LOVE it!) and ice water from the fridge. Once I've finished it twice, I know I've achieved that goal! Crushed ice is my treat to myself as I am a long time ice cruncher! lol!

Looking forward to hearing your success stories for getting in that very necessary element each day!

Cheers! *clinks glass of H2O* emoticon
