Subway and the gym. I was a fast food junkie forever and I never worked out. Now, I've made a deal with myself that if I eat out, it's Subway. I have had Subway for lunch everyday for almost 3 weeks! And I'm going to the gym at minimum 4 times a week!

Exercise, drinking water, taking vitamins, and thinking about what I am going to eat. Taking it slow, has made these changes happen.

Exercise is becoming a habit again. Sometimes I don't want to go to the gym, but like now I feel so good that I went this morning. It makes me so happy inside. Exercise is like a drug. It feels 100% better than overeating!

Make smart eating choices is becoming a habit. Avoiding that cinnamon role last Friday was huge for me! :) Portion sizes are making more sense now too.

-I love this topic! -I have noticed drinking my water has not only become much easier, but like today (Sunday) is my Diet coke day, and I haven't drank as much water as I normally do these day and I'm definately missing it! Drinking my water has finally become a habit! Still working on the exercising though...

Motivation for exercise is finally becoming fairly consistent. I have done some for of cardio and/or strength for 30 minutes a day for 15 of the past 16 days.
Water is also fitting into the pattern. I drink between 64 and 80 glasses of water a day.

It's nice to read the messages. Great job! Drinking at least 64 oz. of water per day and not eating after 7:00 pm have definitely become habits for me. The challenges have been great to get me started. Thank you!

What a great thread! I also used to drink pop constantly. Also, the Arizona Green Tea with Ginseng and Honey. I could go through a gallon in two days. That's a lot of sugar! I now drink at least 10 cups of water a day! I don't even have to look when I go out to eat. I automatically say "water with lemon, please".

The other thing that has become a habit is eating less. And mindful eating. I always used to eat just to fill a craving. Sometimes I would eat, eat, eat just to figure out what I wanted. Now, I think about it, and if I don't know what I want, or nothing sounds good, I get a water and do something else for awhile. I can't even imagine how many calories "mindful eating" has saved me!!

For me, it was flossing my teeth. Sounds disgusting, I know, but I was never a regular flosser.

I made it one of my daily goals ("Other Goals"), as that is part of a healthy lifestyle. I would find myself getting up to floss, JUST so I could check that box on my other goals page.

Now, I don't even think about it - it's just part of my daily routine. And you should have heard my dentist at my check up last week!

The best habit I have picked up is making and bringing my lunch with me to work everyday. I used to never bring lunch with me and often didn't eat until I got home after 5pm. some times I would get a snack or two from the vending Machine or from the grocery store on the way home from work. Not good eating habits. I would always be starving by time I got home.

Now I always bring a lunch and light breakfast with me. I also bring fruits and veggies to snack on during the day. I can feel the difference during the day to. I no longer drink coffee in the morning or energy drinks during the day and I can eat a much lighter dinner at night.

That's a great post. I have stayed away from diet coke also. I used to drink at least 3 a day and now I drink green tea and water. Every once in a while I will crave the carbonation so I will have one. But it's been great drinking water and green tea.
Keep up the great work !!!

I am with you on the water. I could literally go from when I woke until dinner time not drinking anything before, then I made the decision to start drinking water, now I have a bottle with me everywhere, and I tend to leave at least one every place I might sit for a few minutes, (the desk, beside the bed, the end table in the living room) if I am not drinking it, I actually feel thirsty, something that never happened before.

I also no longer go to the cabinet when I am looking for something snacky. That is where I used to keep the chips and cookies. Now, I go to the fridge, and have a carrot or two with hummus, or a handful of grapes.

I too am constantly tracking my food and fitness! I never realized how many calories I was eating and drinking in soda until I started tracking, no wonder I weigh what I do. I don't even crave soda any more, it was a very bad habit for me, I would have at least 3 cans a day. Now I just keep refilling my water bottle and keep it with me all day long.

Tracking my food. I almost go into a panic if I eat something, and get to the computer to put it in my food log. Also water. I was a huge coffee drinker. Being at home all day, I would go through 2 pots of coffee. Now I have 2 or 3 cups in the morning, then water the rest of the day. I don't even miss the coffee.

tracking my food!! now i get frustrated and dont want to eat out because it's too hard to accurately track! i actually call in advance to chain restaurants and ask if they have nutrition information or a section on their menu where nutrition information is listed for low-calorie options... i've become a total nazi about it!! For example;
yesterday i was filming at the pebble beach pro am here in monterey... they set up a big meal tent for "press" with all this cool fancy food from the club house in it... i ate almost none of it because i knew it was going to be too hard to track... even though it all looked amazing... and filled up on water and fruit instead and ate real food when i got home.

If there were no rain, there could be no rainbows!

I'd like to be thin... but I like food better!

That is so great!! I am really proud of you! I am drinking more water now, I find I crave it. I wasn't too much of a pop drinker, I just didn't drink much. I am hoping things start to become habit like eating more fruits and veggies and staying away from horrible snacks. I was a Doritos girl, the taco kind. I would eat half a bag in a sitting. Well I am not allowed any Doritos anymore unless they are the baked kind and I have been good and not bought any.

I'm at about the two and a half week mark, so I'm not quite to the "three-four weeks to make a new habit" mark, but I swear I'm already doing new (good) things without thinking about them.

Before I started SP, I was a 3-4 Diet Coke a day kind of person, sometimes as many as six, never less than two. When I started, I made a commitment to drink no more than two a day, and only one if at all possible, and water the rest of the time. I've only had two a day maybe three times, and most days I have my one Coke at lunch time to ward off late-afternoon caffeine withdrawal headaches. Today, I went out to the fridge to get a Diet Coke for my lunch, came back in, put my drink down, and went to the microwave to retrieve said lunch. I got my food and turned to get my drink, and couldn't find it anywhere! I looked all over the kitchen and could not find my Diet Coke. And then I realized--right where I thought I'd put my Diet Coke was a cold bottle of water.

I don't remember getting water from the fridge--I did it without even thinking, "Great, I have to drink water now." It was kind of a lovely moment, and really quite miraculous given my previous addiction to Diet Coke. I don't know that it quite qualifies as habit yet, but I think it's getting there. I've started walking into the kitchen mindlessly, but instead of grabbing food like I normally would, I've been refilling my water bottle, and realizing it a few minutes later (and then trying to backtrack to figure out how many times I've done it so I know how much water I've had.)
