My best friend and I made a plan to lose weight together, so when I feel like giving up, I have to remind myself that I have to keep going so SHE won't give up. I want her to be healthy and happy, even when I'm depressed and unmotivated. Staying upbeat to keep her motivated changes my mood VERY quickly!

I hear you Jeannie!!!
Thanks to curves I have been running for the past 8 weeks. Something I was unable to do because of knee pain for years and years ( at least 15)!!!
My Osteopath diagnosed that I had done something to my left hip 5 years ago, sports physio's & dr's diagnosed osteoarthritis in my knees.
However- curves strength training created the
hip support muscles my knees needed!
I am astonished that I accepted I would never run again! I am grateful that I can. I am motivated to never cripple myself again and to run until I die!

I'm going to try to revive this thread since I think it's a great topic!

Like many of the girls on here, seeing the calories burned is a great motivator for me. I think the biggest thing though is seeing my name and stats posted on one of those success story poster things. It reminds me of what I was able to accomplish and helps push me to keep it up!

I'm a data junkie, so I love looking at the pie charts for the different muscles and seeing my strength progress, as well as how I am progressing on each machine.

Altho my PI yo-yos like crazy. When I workout in the evening after plenty of sleep the night before, I get awesome results, so the program increases my PI significantly. But then my schedule always seems to be that I need to get my workouts in the mornings for a few sessions, and I just can't work that hard that early -- so then my PI drops back down again!

Also, I work out better to some music than others -- maybe I should just request my favorites when I go in!

As for additional motivation? One of the staff members is my coach, and we have a meeting once a week ... and I have to report on my progress and weigh-in. There are plenty of days that I really don't want to go, and then I picture her face, and what she's gonna say to me on Mon ... so, I drag myself in. Once I'm in the door, I'm good to go. Even if I have to tell myself that I'm only going to do the 30 min instead of my usual 45 plus warm up and cool down and stretch. Once I'm there, I do my full schedule (except on the rare occasions when I'm late enough that it's near closing time).

Tea solves everything. You're a bit cold? Tea. Your boyfriend has just left you? Tea. You've just been told you've got cancer? Tea. Coordinated terrorist attack on the transport network bringing the city to a grinding halt? Tea dammit! . ~Jslayeruk, as posted on Metaquotes Livejournal, in response to the July 2005 London subway bombings.

My neighbor and I go together. It's nice because we always encourage each other and end up going even if one of us doesn't feel like going on a particular day.

I will never give up no matter how many times I might fail

Past success is the best motivator, I think.
emoticon And--I am a little embarrassed to admit this--but the praise from the Owner and other members at Curves really makes me THINK before I eat something I shouldn't. I really do not want to disappoint them.

I thought I'd revive this thread......

Seeing those calories burned is a great motivator, and it also makes me think twice about popping some less healthy item in my mouth, because I know how much I'd have to work out just to make up for that! I'm trying to keep from mindless eating...

I've only been using CurvesSmart for two weeks and I love it! I challenge myself to do better each day. I love seeing how many calories I've burned and I always write the number down in my food journal.

I like seeing the calories as well. (It makes it easier to track on the Fitness Tracker here.) Byt the biggest thing for me, competitive person that I am, it's seeing whether I hit the target on each exercise or not.

I love to see the calories that I burned too, but I also like to move the weight on the figure that represents my body down to my goal weight. Then I remember what it looks like and try to imagine what it would feel like for a couple of minutes. That's what really keeps me motivated!

When you've had a really hard workout on the Smart system; what keeps you motivated?

For me; It's seeing how many calories I burned in that 30 minute time frame. Even if I get bumped down a level or failed to work out everything 100% or didn't meet the required goal. Seeing the calories I burned makes me feel better!
