Hello all hope everyone is doing fine. Kind of cool here in sunny Ca. We have these delta winds blowing around keeping the temp. down. Weather man said it would get up to 92 today but it is only 71 now. Went out for my walk/run today and I was kind of cold in my shorts. Came home and put on long pants. I might go out for an other walk as the weather is so nice.

Hello! I am coming back and getting into the team spirit! I have been away for awhile now and have gotten lost on my journey. I am getting back in tune with my body that I have neglected. I am eating healthy, and drinking my water and tracking my food. Now to get myself into more physical exercise and cut the excuses. I get lots of walking in at work and using the stairs and all the little stuff. I need to make an appointment with myself to start working out more.

Cheers to all of you this beautiful Saturday. Today, I am going to be going canoeing with my husband. The first time in my life. I have a water phobia but, he promises me that I will be safe. Love!

I haven't really had a diagnosis of the problem so I think I might do that. If it is not cancer then I a\may be able to cut down yet, but broccoli and celery are both good for eyes, too. They have lutein and zeaxathin in them, so I will probably keep them in the juicer but cut the rest down.

Yes, it can be expensive, so I m going to be juicing the most important veggies, like broccoli, celery, carrots green apples, eggplant, sweet potatoes, and cucumbers and let the rest sit awhile. The broccoli for a week is from $17.50 to $20.00 depending whether I need for 7 or 8 days. That is half if the budget I really need to stay within. I've got to have the greens for the green smoothies, too.

Glad to hear you are on top of the Diabetes..Keep up the good work. so you juice twice a day.

I think it would depend on what you are juicing. If the fruit or vegetable doesn't hurt you then the juice shouldn't either. I am diabetic and I have an apple/carrot/celery juice in the morning. My blood sugar before supper - more juice and a small salad - was 95, which if pretty good. I will be checking it in a few minutes before I go to bed. I do not take insulin any more. I do not have to. Last night my blood sugar was 157 and this morning it was 110, so my pancreas is working again. I don't know why the blood sugar was so high last night, but it was better this morning. Four years ago my blood sugar was 100 fasting in the morning and I stopped taking the meds so now it is the insulin that is going by-by.

I thought of Juicing, ordered the Magic Bullet just got, thinking of sending it back before the 30 days are up, I thought it could be costly, and there are warning if you are on blood thinners or Hypertensive, need to speak to my Physician about it yet.

I liked that one too. I just finished watching Reversing the Irreversible for the 3rd time. I was especially interested in the breast cancer testimonial. I needed some more inspiration, I guess. I think I may do another smoothie a day on top of the juicing, instead of the small salad. I think I am eating too many nuts, too. That is why my weight loss has stalled. And may just juice the broccoli and celery, possibly the cucumbers and sweet potato. It is getting pretty costly

You might try the documentary "Eating, 3rd Edition". It is a little simpler, but don't pay much attention to the scare tactics towards the end of the movie. Pay more attention to the "eating plan" in the first half.

I've read both Dr. Fuhrman's "Eat to Live" and Dr. McDougall's "The Starch Solution." Both advocate a whole-foods, plant-based diet. I lost 40 pounds last year by following Dr. Fuhrman's recommendations, then promptly gained it back by ignoring everything I learned. Stupid, I know. What more can I say than, live and learn?!

"Forks Over Knives" is wonderful. "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" is good too.

You should read a book called Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. He has a website too - drfuhrman.com. There is also a message board for Eat to Live followers. There are a couple of documentaries I can recommend like Forks Over Knives, Food, Inc., Food Matters,, Reversing the Irrevcersible. You can find most of these on the Netflix website.

Hello to all members. I am new here and am not really started anything yet. I have a lot of health issues that seems to interfere with my moving anymore than I have to .Though I have been walking some but not lately . I lost 40 lbs walking and watching my food but have gained back 20.I don't no if I will meet many of the daily challenges or not it may take some time for me to figure out the site etc. But need encouragement also friendship . I guess I am learning to climb those hills, too. I have fallen literally and have had tol earn some new tricks because of my vision impairment. I can climb better and haven't fallen for a few months, now.

You absolutely CAN do it! You WILL get healthier and you WILL get stronger, both physically and spiritually.I'm not a very religious person, but faith and belief are powerful motivators. It reminds me of the lyrics to a Lonestar song:

My Prayer is for god to help me eat to live and not live to eat. Amen. I used to head to the double dipped chocolate peanuts and eat the whole 1 pound bag before I knew it. But since I have been a vegan/ge\\vegetarian I have been rid of that craving - now about 8 months, since the weekend before Thanksgiving. If I want some chocolate I will put a t. of coconut oil and some cocoa and Stevia in a little bowl and maybe some nuts or fruits and I am satisfied. I don't crave anything with sugar in it anymore. I can make a chocolate cake without sugar and also a cheesecake - non-dairy - and it satisfies me too.

I am the guilty party of the sweets, I don't really keep them in the house, but when I go into a store I get something, sometimes I will make a pit stop just for sweets. I don't know if the Anxiety/Depression is my problem for me not sleeping, also I have Tinnitus. I spend all my time alone and being lonely, probably eat out of boredom, I am so wanting tomorrow Monday Aug. 13 to be a new beginning for me.

Who's buying and bringing the candy, cookies, and cake into the house? Even if you have kids, why not make sweets an occasional treat and keep fruit, veggies, and high nutrition foods around when you feel a snack attack coming on? If you have sleep problems, is it stuff on your mind or something else, have you ever been checked for sleep apnea? How many times do you start over? As many times as it takes! You have the power in you, good luck.

I am so having a hard time getting it together, is it that I have convinced myself that I don't want to do this anymore, have I lost my desire to be Healthy and Sexy, I have a problem sleeping at night, so in the morning when I should be up exercising I am sleeping, my motivation, willpower is so not happening now. I am not feeling good about what I am doing to myself, but I won't stop the sabotage, eating everything that's nailed down, late night, candy, cookies , cake.. They always say, tomorrow is a new day, start over, how many times do you start over, for two weeks I've eaten like a dog, no physical movement, WHY..WHY...WHY.

I had a right knee replacement in 2003. I have arthritis in left knee. I know the pain involved with the PT,, but don't stop! I wish I had done stairs more after my replacement. I t seems to make the knee stronger. I have recently lost 55 lbs and has helped the left knee tremendously. I am determined too, to lose an other 55lbs. Nice to meet you!

My goal is not to lose a lot of weight, nor to run a marathon, but to keep the abilities I have and to work with my pt to improve what I have recently lost. I am overweight, I have high cholesterol, I have RA. I recently had my right knee replaced and my right ankle rebuilt. My ride side was severely impacted, but I am on good meds and have a great PT, and I need to take care of me. I needed a Spark to help ignite the engines. So here I am, and I am determined.

Got my bicycle tires fixed now to get lights. Hope my knee is half as happy as I am. The bacillus at the jim are not fit for me my legs are too short.
