Hilary- just finished putting in my points for this week... so, yeah!

Hope everyone is doing well... I know this week may be a bit crazy/stressful- but we'll push through it, I know we can!

Yes, I'm feeling great today. It's crazy... I don't know what's going on. I mean, part of me feels bad that I feel so good... I mean, it hasn't even been two weeks since the Ex and I broke up. But... it's been two weeks of no fighting, two weeks of not feeling bad because I've done something "wrong," two weeks of catching up with friends and not feeling guilty because I'm talking to them and not to him! I KNOW that this relationship is not "healed," I KNOW I will have difficult points down the road (hello... 27 and single, getting marriage and/or baby announcements almost daily!!!), but I've really been taking some time to think about why this is good for me. Becuase it is. I haven't been as happy these past couple years as I used to be. I thought it was just "growing up" and "getting older"... but now, I"m not so sure.

So... I guess to end that- the fact that you are excited about your birthday, Darcy... inspires and exictes me. It's okay that we're getting older... just a number, right? After all... we are wiser ;)

Happy Tuesday all!

No more apologizing for not generating points! I'm just stoked we're all still going. It's been hard (at least for me) to keep the momentum. Whew! I think it's awesome that we all stuck it out. Excellent job!!

We did generate quite a lot of points this month. Did everyone get their points in? I'll email the total to Andrea soon.

Darce, good luck with all your work stuff! Celebrating your birthday this weekend will be fun, no doubt!

Erin, hope the positive energy is continuing into Tuesday...

I am feeling lots of positive energy today, as I was able to jump out of bed and get a 3.5 mile run in early this morning. Then I was productive around the apartment take care of various chores and even got in a few minutes of practicing my flute, which is a new instrument to me :) Great way to kick-start the day!

Sorry I have not been a huge point-generator this week. In fact, I have to submit my points for the last two days still. Sigh, hard to be on the ball 24-7, I guess!

Have a great day everyone!

Erin I am glad to hear today is a good day. I'll cross my fingers for you too!

I am currently anticipating and dreading the end of this week like no other and should probably just force myself to live in the moment (bad at that) and work through Monday.

Friday is my Birthday and I turn 28! I am very excited to turn another year older (maybe wiser) and to see what my boyfriend has up his sleeve (I'm guessing a good meal with champagne and a lot of chocolate). Tina and I are also hosting a fundraiser event through DetermiNation in Ardmore, PA benefiting the American Cancer Society. We have several lose ends to tie up before Saturday, but I am looking forward to it so it is a good thing.

On the flip side Friday is also my deadline for work... which means I am going to be putting in some long days leading up to Friday and feeling crazy stressed... ick. :/

I am going to apologize in advance for my drop in points, working out will be tough with going in early and staying late at work.

Tina- sounds good. We can totally do this this week!

Hilary- thanks for the link. I've updated now... I hadn't done ANY except for Tuesday... my bad! Hope you enjoyed (are enjoying?) your break.

Today is a great day so far... just found out that a casting director may be able to come see one of my shows April 4th or 5th... which may help me get a gig this summer! YAY! Keeping my fingers crossed, because as of right now I'm jobless as of May 6th... which is scary....

Margot- YAY For the apartment! I'm excited for you!

Happy Monday Ladies!

I have been pretty much afk as much as I could this week, since it was my vacation, and the computer reminds me of work and school. Also I totally have spring fever-- so sick of being cooped up inside all winter. But I'm really sorry that I've been missing the conversation online. I'll have to play catch up.

To see your entries so far, ie. see what days you've entered, here is the google spreadsheet:

Hi Ladies!

So... don't know if anyone else has noticed... but those of us from our team are the majority of the people who have signed up for April... and all of us asked to stay with our team =) I hope we do get to stay together, it's nice to kind of know what page everyone is on.

I haven't turned in my points for the last couple days (oops...) and now I can't even remember what days I did turn my points in for. Is there any way to tell which days I need to enter? It might be most of the week, to be honest. My brain has been so scattered this past week... probably because I'm working so dang hard to keep myself distracted so I don't think about the ex.

Anywho- it's been about a week and a half since the break, and things are getting better. I'm not a balling wreck anymore, so hey... at least I've got one thing going for me, right?

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! We're enjoying some sun... though also windy and chilly here in Iowa!

Hey ladies, I hope you are enjoying your Sunday. The weather is BEAUTIFUL in Philadelphia, a little windy/chilly but full of sunshine!

I am sad our challenge is coming to a close, I have really enjoyed hearing from everyone every morning! I'll guess we'll see what happens with the April challenge, I am definitely going to do it!

Hey ladies,

The 5K today was great, though cold! I am sad to say, however, that I will not be meeting my weekly goal of meeting my calorie range 5 of 7 days... ugh. I also disappointed myself in my workouts this week, but what can you do. It was a busy week. The next couple weeks are going to be busy as well so I am concerned, but I'm going to try and be a good planner and map out my workouts and meals in advance if I can...

Did you see Andrea's post about April's challenge?? I think the monthly format will be easier to keep up with than the weekly format, however I hope we can be on similar teams!!

In any event, we should all add each other as friends since we've been great motivators for each other!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hi Ladies!

Sorry I've been missing the last couple days. We were in a hotel that had horrible internet on Thursday... and it irritated me so much I just gave up! Yesterday we hit Cedar Rapids, so my tour partner and I enjoyed dinner out in a town that has a proper grocery store, a mall and even a Super Target! Whoo Hoo! Life is good.
As for getting up in the morning, that can be hard. I used to work at a theatre where early AM workouts were the only kind possible. I think you just have roll out of bed when the alarm goes off... and leave the room. Go get a drink of water, use the bathroom, turn on some lights. I also used to do my "morning stuff" at night (making lunch, laying out my workout clothes, picking my workout...) and that helps because after water and powdering my nose, I could throw on my workout clothes and get to it. Of course, you have to listen to your body... sometimes sleep really IS more important... but generally once you're up and moving you're good to go. The first couple weeks are roughest, but once you get it down... you'll be golden.

Have fun in Boston Margot! Have fun at your 5K Tina!

Has anyone else been doing blogs? If so, sorry I've missed them. Here's the one I did the other day... I'll probably do another later today to make up for some of the points I haven't been getting ;) Happy Weekend all!

Hey ladies and TGIF!!

Margot you are a better person than I -- I decided to sleep in this morning. Argh. Oh well!!! Running a 5K tomorrow so can't really avoid that :) Trying to eat decently today to make up for lack of exercise this week...

Hope everyone has a great weekend, and thanks for the articles Darce, I'll have to check 'em out!

You ladies are all doing fantastic! I seem to have dropped the ball... who knew one weekend of guilty pleasures would throw me so off track?! I am having trouble getting back into my normal eating habits... I think I am almost there, but I never thought it would take me a full week to readjust! Fried, sweet things are hard to shake when you over indulge in them for 3 days!

I read this article in my Fitness mag and wanted to share. After the article they had a few exercises which seem like way more fun (interesting) then crunches.

Hey ladies - happy Friday! We're off to Boston tomorrow to try to find an apartment :) We only have two weeks until we have to move, so I pray we find something decent!!!

Waking up this morning for the gym was a bit tough.. might have been the two beers and 1/3rd bottle of wine we had at dinner last night with a friend.. but my fiance rolled over when he heard my alarm and mumbles... "six months..." so I thought, "Well, I can sleep longer, or I can feel good by getting some exercise." So I got up. I only got in 30 minutes on the elliptical because I was pretty slow moving at 5am (and I watched a bit of Jersey Shore while playing with the cat - reaaaaally guilty pleasure).

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hey gals, I'm sorry I've been missing. I am visiting family, and I've been way busier than I realized I would be. I'll be heading back home and to a normal schedule hopefully. But I must admit, it's been really fun seeing folks I haven't seen in forever and cooking.

I have tried the phone (alarm) across the room thing as well and yes I just get right back in bed with the phone, hitting Snooze every 10 minutes, LOL!

Another trick I have tried is getting everything done that I normally do in the morning the night before (i.e., make lunch, do the dishes, straighten up) and even lay out my workout clothes/sneakers. That way I do not have to think when I wake up and can get ready quickly (sleep an extra couple minutes). This does not always work but it definitely helps.

Anyone else have any good tricks??

I need something! Of course.. I wake up at 4:45am b/c my cat is so needy she won't let me go to the gym without jumping on my shoulders and purring for 15 minutes. Perhaps I shouldn't give in to her and get the extra 15 minutes of sleep. ;)

What are your tricks for getting up? Most mornings I don't have a problem, but sometimes I just rather be under the warm covers... I've tried putting my phone on the other side of the room (that's my alarm)... but if my mind has it's way I'll dive right back into bed. Perhaps I should put it by the coffee maker.. but I wouldn't want to wake up my fiance lol. Oy. Decisions, decisions!

I hear ya, it is so easy to fell guilty about not exercising. But give yourself a break! :) I'm sure your body appreciated getting to sleep in a little this morning and your spirit will enjoy the treat of dinner in the city with friends! Plus you've already scheduled your next work out and are motivated about keeping it.

Go Margot!

OMG Margot I am feeling exactly the same way!!! I set my alarm to get up super early and do a hot yoga class at 6:30 this morning... but when I woke up I said "no way I'm going back to sleep" and slept in until 7:30!!! So yeah, I can completely relate to the guilty factor! I also cannot work out tonight due to other music-related commitments. Perhaps I can try again tomorrow morning... :) Every day is a new day, right?! Enjoy your night out and dinner!!

I'm feeling a bit guilty about not getting up to exercise this morning :( And I have dinner plans in the city right after work meaning I'll get home late and probably go straight to bed (10ish) so that I can hopefully get up super early tomorrow to exercise. I feel like a bum though. Oy.

REMEMBER THIS FEELING LATER MARGOT! ;)

Hey ladies! So this is not my blog which I guess means no points, but I thought it was worth sharing. This blog entry has a great message about listening to your body and gaining patience. After all we are not dieting to lose weight here, we are making healthy changes to our life styles which result in weight loss and positive energy gains! Enjoy!

Ok so far, not doing so well with my goal! This is day two of going over my calorie range (not by a ton, but by 200 calories today, ugh!) Still have to work on my eating habits in the evening. That is where I lose control!! I DID, however, take back-to-back fitness classes, including butt & abs lab which was crazy -- many different stations all very hard! I get the sense I might be sore tomorrow! Oh well, tomorrow is a new day, and if I want to meet my goal this week, I'll need to stay on track the remainder of the week... let's do this!!

Good luck to everyone getting through the rest of the week... at least hump day is over!! :)

Hi Ladies!
Hope everyone had a great day today. I'm feeling much better than yesterday... so that's a good thing. I was needing some veggies in my life and lo and behold... there is a Subway here in this small town... a HUGE Veggie Salad that they loaded up for me... yum... life is good.

Margot- Yay for you... 2 weeks! Hurray! How exciting.
Darcy- I know you can make it. Just breathe through the stress... you can do it.

I'm going to do a short blog when I finish here, but I don't have the link yet (since I haven't posted).

Happy Wednesday!

Oy! I hear ya with stress, this is a busy week for me as well. Lots of deadlines coming up the beginning of April. On the positive side my Birthday is April 1st. So I have a love hate thing happening right now with the beginning of April.

Since we will be posting more links I wanted to point out to everyone that there is an "ADD A LINK" button next to "SPELL CHECK". If you click that you can paste your link in and make it an active link. That way people can click and be redirected rather then having to copy and paste!

Happy Wednesday!!! I hope everyone is having a great week so far :) Today is the big day for me, I'm a bit stressed - but I'm giving my two weeks notice later to one of my bosses. Eek! Wish me luck.

Hello!! Better late than never, right? :)

My goal is going to be the same as last week -- stay within my calorie range for 5 of the 7 days. I don't know that I succeeded today as I treated myself to a nice sandwich & fries for dinner, and bread pudding for dessert. Gotta live a little once in a while, right?! But I'll get back on track tomorrow. I ate great the rest of the day today. What can you do?

Also, I do have a blog -- it's not fitness-related, but I will share it and maybe it counts as points as I did just post an entry today!

http://tinadmusic.blogspot.com/2011/03/b

Hope everyone had a great day and onward to day 2 tomorrow!

Hi Ladies!

Here we go again. I'm going to keep up with my fiber goal again one more time this week. I've been doing it... but it's taking constant attention... I figure after the third week, maybe it will be more of a habit? Don't know... but it's worth a shot.

I like the idea of letting us know if you blogged! Great idea... I'm not much of a blogger, but I'll def give it a shot this week!

Let's get it girls!

Hey team, I am definitely looking forward to the exercise bonus points. That seems to be the one area I have been able to maintain.

Despite repeatedly falling short of my goal.. I am going to continue the 5 servings of veggies/fruit for 5/7days. I need to keep this goal for me and my attempt to maintain a healthy diet.

I say if anyone writes a blog they should post a link through chat so we can all read and learn from our team mates experiences!

I had a good weekend, apart from an allergic reaction to shrimp. I guess you can suddenly become allergic to stuff. I have the week off, so I am visiting my mom in a place that is nothing but gorgeous trees and hiking trails, so it should be rustic. It's my cup of tea.

Here's the form for week 4! Keep up the good work ladies!

I'm excited about the exercise bonus. I generally try to get at least those in three times a week.

Hi Ladies! Let's do this!

Tina- "Les Mis" *sigh* Lovely. Yeah, I'm a professional actor and currently on the road touring with the National Theatre for Children (hence the awesome hotel hopping and difficult food dealings). That's awesome that you play in the pit... I love musical theatre.. so of course I love my pit!!! =)

Darcey- What a great attitude. Balance- that's what it's all about, right?

Just finished an AWESOME TurboFire workout. I'm totally addicted, just thought I'd share emoticon

Hi Ladies!

Sorry I've been delinquent in submitting my points the last couple of days -- I'm about to update mine in a few minutes!! I actually wasn't feeling well this weekend, seemed to have come down with a stomach bug :/ But the good thing was, I was able to stay in my calorie range all weekend, thanks to the bug! Not sure if that will be 5 days of the week that I'll meet it but I think I am on track for that goal! Yippee!! Hopefully that will make up for my lack of "water points." I also feel really good about the exercise I was able to put in this weekend, despite not feeling well, and it's great to hear that a lot of our points are coming from that!!

Erin, I had no idea you were involved in shows -- I just wrapped up playing in the pit for a high school production of "Les Mis" -- I also happened to catch the 25th Anniversary special on PBS last night, it was fantastic! It's one of my favorite shows. In any case, do you normally direct the plays or what is your involvement? So awesome! I play clarinet, sax, and most recently flute. I play piano too, but haven't ever played it for any shows...

Darce, glad to hear you had a great weekend and that it was filled with lots of good food! You deserved it and of course this week you can get back on track.

Let's make this last day a great one!!

One day left for week 3. I'm going to try to get those water points since it's my last chance.

And if you want to check to see if you added a specific day or see how you're doing, here's the link to the spreadsheet:

Hello Ladies-
I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I had the opportunity to go see an AMAZING show in Minneapolis yesterday- so that was good. Today I hit a lovely walking trail and called up a friend I haven't talked to for a while. It was a great talk, and I feel good that I was moving the entire time- Hurray!
Let's have an awesome week!

Hey all! Hope your weekend is going great. I wanted to say we're really doing great on exercise this week. We have 2480 points, and most of that is from exercise. We're an active group! Last week we had 8 people sending in their points, and this week there are 5, but there are still a couple days to get them in.

Thanks ladies- I appreciate it. It's going to be hard, I know it- I'm just doing my best to call friends when I'm starting to feel down- not turning to emotional eating stress. I used to be horrible about that, and have just recently gotten a lot better- I just don't want to backslide...
Needless to say- I appreciate the support.

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend... I'm getting ready to go see a play- whoo hoo! I love when I'm doing Children's theatre- it means I actually get to SEE shows too! =)

Hey all. I'm about to take off to go hiking in the cold muddy rainy PNW. It'll be glorious. Anyway, hopefully hiking counts on the miles, especially if walking does. I've done 11 miles so far this week, so that's a little above my goal, and I'll add some today, too. Erin, I agree with Darcy, we're here for you. I'm sorry to hear about bf trouble, but at least you were able to blow off some steam. Sometimes that's necessary once in awhile.

Hope everyone has fun this weekend!

Yesterday I logged 5 miles, mainly hills, and did 75 jumping jacks and 25 push-ups. Hopefully that will help balance out all of the points ii'll be losing thanks to sweets. :)

Talk to you ladies soon.

Good morning ladies! Happy Saturday, hope you're all enjoying the day so far. It's bright and sunny here in NJ, a bit chilly, but still beautiful.

We have a wedding later tonight, so I'm making a plan of what I'll eat for the day so as not to over do it tonight. I'm up early to get my exercise in for the day!

Wishing you all a great weekend!

Hi Ladies! Happy weekend. I'm planning a nice relaxing night in tonight after hitting the town a bit hard last night. My bf of 5 years and I broke up yesterday morning, and I was a total wreck any time I wasn't completly distracted all day. To help "distract" my tour partner and I did the St.Patty's Day thing up... and I felt it this morning. I can't remember the last time that's happened. Argh.
Oh well, I did manage to do my TurboFire today, but I def wasn't at 100%- and that irritates me, because I know I did it to myself.
Oh well- moving onward, right? I'm just attempting to keep busy the best I can so I don't think about "things." I have a feeling all of my friends I haven't talked to recently are going to start getting lots of phone calls...

Hi Ladies - I am SO sorry I have been so MIA this week... things have been INSANE here. We're in the process of interviewing in Boston and trying to find apartments, from New Jersey... eek. Needless to say I haven't been adding many points to the group totals this week. For that I apologize. But I vow to put in a ton of miles this weekend to try to make up for it ;)

Hi everyone!

This has been a bit crazy week for me, just being busy with a lot of things. I feel like I go back and forth between feeling like I want to be on a total health kick and then just like I want to give myself a break. Trying to stick with the former and cut back on the latter... Being on the go, as I expected, I am eating out more this week than usual. I hope that next week things will settle down and I can pack my lunch every day, make my dinner at home, etc.

I'm also finally starting to realize I might need to change my water habits. I am reading way too much about water intake helping with weight loss and I know it will make me feel better in general, just so hard to do!!!

Planning on running 11 miles this weekend (probably tomorrow), so that should boost our points!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

I hope everyone had a fun St. Paddy's Day! Also, great job winning the challenge!! I'm sorry about my radio silence; after a really intense time at work and school, I took a break from my computer.

I've been eating a lot of cabbage this week, because we made corned beef and cabbage on Sunday, and we usually make it low on the beef, heavy on the cabbage and carrots. Anyway, I thought I'd share some of the health benefits of cabbage with y'all:

Pointswise, I still think we're all doing really good! Even without the water challenge (you can have my tea cup when you pry it from my cold dead fingers) we're doing super on the exercise and sweets front!! Keep it up, ladies! :-)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
Today is definitely going to be a cheat day for me... as well as Saturday and Sunday (when I'll be in NYC).

I am very excited for dinner tonight. My boyfriend, his mom, and my parents (everyone gets along REALLY well) are all going out to a Irish Pub in the city, The Plough and the Stars. This place is great for the holiday (and in general), they break out the corned beef, cabbage, mashed potatoes, Irish soda bread, great beer selection... all the good stuff for the taste buds! Plus they play upbeat Irish jigs and have Irish Step Dancers!

So I guess I am embracing fun and throwing caution to the wind this week! :) Unfortunately I will not be a big help with points for our team... I'll bring it next week girls!

Hi Ladies! Whoo Hoo!!!! Go us!!! =)

Hope everyone had a wonderful Wednesday. I'm really excited about St. Patty's Day tomorrow... there is a parade a couple blocks from our hotel, and I've never been to a St. Patty's Day parade. I'm not really a huge parade person, but when you're on the road- every little random thing is exciting. I love Irish/Scottish stuff so St. Patty's is always a fun day for me (St. Patrick was a Scott... btw ;) What I'm really excited about, though... is that a little Irish pub is having bagpipes during happy hour! AWESOME.

Okay, so... I'm not going to be "good" tomorrow... but I'm going to have fun, and I'm going to realize that I'm planning on having fun... so I intend on eating well for most of the day. It's funny, because I feel good about this decision. I've been through times in my life where I wouldn't have thought twice about going to have a good time, and times when I wouldn't allow it for myself... but now I can just be happy and in the middle realizing this is okay every once and a while, as long as it's not an "all the time" event (especially not on a Thursday!)

So... enough rambling... Early Happy St. Patty's to you!

Sounds like some interesting challenges we have for this week... I'm with you Tina, I don't go without my coffee in the morning... otherwise all I drink all day is water - so no pts for me there.

But I am excited about the mileage! It'll push me to go the extra mile ;)

Morning, ladies!

Yes, the "nothing but water" challenge is not going to work for me (I love my coffee, so unfortunately that isn't likely to happen)!! Considering I am a runner though, and I walk to and from work, I'm okay with that challenge. If only it were last week, the 10-mile race would have been nice to throw in there, and during some classes I took on Sunday & Monday there were a lot of jumping jacks and sit-ups involved. Damn! I'll just have to try to re-create it this weekend :) The sweets challenge shouldn't be too bad for me either... I actually managed to get through the whole day yesterday with none.

I think my goal for the remainder of this week is going to be to stay within my calorie range for 5 of the 7 days. I already blew it for yesterday (though not by a ton, so I'm okay with it). So we'll start over today! I have 6 days left to hit my goal 5 times!! I absolutely need to cut down the calories or I will never lose weight or improve the way I hope to.

Have a good day, ladies!
