Susana, no one is condemning you at all. We care and are reaching out to you with what we feel may be helpful. We certainly are praying for you. We are all here to get healthier. We understand that each one of us has issues that need to be healed, corrected, improved in order to get healthier. None of us wants to be judged or condemned, so we would never judge or condemn anyone else. Our issues are sometimes different, but we ALL have battles to wage, and with God's help, we ARE overcomers.

When my nieces were little, they would give them a stimulant to make them sleep. Apparently when someone suffers from hyperactivity, if you give them a benadryl, which normally makes people sleepy, they bounce off the walls. If you give them a strong cup of coffee, it relaxes them. It doesn't seem logical but I recall that's how it was for the girls.

Susanna, I'm not condemning you. I'm praying for you. I believe it's God's desire that you be healthy. It is interesting, isn't it, that a stimulant can help you sleep. : ) Our bodies are amazing things. May I suggest you substitute a cup of coffee or tea (not herbal) for some of the chocolate you eat? That would give you caffine without the calories, but perhaps you've already tried that. I'll continue pray for you. You have a lot going on in your life. emoticon

I have several issues, not just migraines, but I also have had a spinal injury and allergies plus a sleep disorder; not just the addiction to chocolate. I been slowly trying to go off. i sued to eat a candy bar a a day, and drink chocolate in my milk (becasue it helepd me to drink milk, it breaks down the lactose in it) . I need the caffeine in the chocolate as a stimulant to wake me up and it speeds up my thinking, or I would be groggy all day! Mornings are the hardest. I tried going off it cold turkey but caused me to get such Migraines and it scare me for I dont want another stroke. It was because and after a car accident and getting a sleep disorder that I foudn when I ahd milk with choclate I coudl get some sleep and it got me hooked on the chocolate. hard to believe a stimulant can help you get soem sleep. Yes, it would actually help me get some sleep! Hard to say what was the chicken and what was the egg. But things happen. But the chocolate makes me so dry, so I feel the need to go off it. Just asked for prayers is all. I dont need any condemnation! Just prayer. susana

PinkSparkles, your strength comes from the Lord. What a relief it is that you don't have to muster up the strength, love, peace, or wisdom to muddle through on your own!! Lift up your eyes, as the Psalms encourage us. Your help comes from the Lord. If we are told to lift up our eyes TO something, that means we must lift they up FROM something. Right? So don't let the enemy concern you with what is here below. The real battles are being fought in the heavenlies, in the spirit world. I thank God even now for bringing all that you need to the situation, that His perfect will shall be revealed and manifested in your life and the lives of your family. He will carry you through this because He loves you so much!

Judith, I'm so sorry you have endured this. You may recall that we went through months and months and surgeries and surgeries with my husband and the largest kidney stones any of the doctors had ever seen. I so sympathize with you. I know how painful it is. I am asking for God to deliver you from these stones that are threatening your health and robbing you of your comfort. *hugs*

Nancy, I just love you. I LOVE that you aptly apply the word of God as the solution to whatever we face in life. I thank God for the foundation of scripture in your life and for the gift you have in sharing it so liberally with us.

You've all expressed such compassion and wisdom. You are the BEST friends ever.

I met a lady recently who made major changes in her life in order to recover from agonies with migraines. She eliminated all caffeine from her diet. She won't even drink caffeine free soda because there are trace amounts of caffeine in them and throw her back into tormenting headaches. She drinks only water. I would so hate to have to give up my morning coffee!! Hats off to the sacrifices this woman made and her discipline in pulling off such a feat.

I told that story to say when one is allergic to caffeine it can be almost deadly to you. Please, Susana, talk to your doctor about this! We care about you and want you to be healthy and happy.

Hi Susanna,

Here are my two cents worth. I am speaking from experience. It seems you have four things that need to be dealt with. Don't get me wrong, I will pray that God would heal you of the things you can not do on your own. I will also pray that He will enable you to do your part.

First: Stress. It triggers all sorts of bad things. Find ways to calm yourself down. Stress has caused me sleepless nights, mind thinking overtime, and migraines. Exercise, chamomile tea, getting some sun are some of the ways that helped me deal with stress.

Second: Headaches / migraines. I have had migraines for more than 18 years. Doctors do not know how to deal with them. I lost my faith in doctors and decided to research it on my own. There are lots of components to deal with such as stress levels, enough sleep at night, suppressed emotions, eat right, etc. When you figure out what causes them, you can take steps to prevent them. One thing I am doing now that is working is taking daily magnesium on top of healthful living. I still get migraines, but frequency and intensity have been reduced.

Third: Suppressed emotions. You have so many emotions that I read in your request that it made me dizzy. Honey, talk them out. You will feel better. Can not talk to people, talk to God. He is a wonderful counselor. He is mine. He will help you through all of them. Been there, too.

Fourth: Chocolate. One verse that helps me with my weight loss is Matthew 4:4, "Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Personally, I do not think your problem is chocolate. It is something to make you feel better about yourself, perhaps? If you focus on the problem, the problem will get bigger. If you focus on your God, your problem will take it's right size.

Hope this helps. And keep us posted, please. emoticon

Susanna, I am also praying with/for you. While I like chocolate a lot, my biggest downfall is eating and snacking after dinner.

II Corinthians 10:3-5 says, "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have DIVINE POWER to demolish strongholds (chocolate, over-eating). We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (NIV)

II Cor. 12:9 "But he (God) said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my POWER is made perfect in weakness.' "

Ephesians 1:(read vs. 15-23) here are vs. 19-20 "...and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms..."

I am weak, but I already have God's resurrection power within me because God is within me. But I have to claim (appropriate) that power. I have given in to my weakness so much, but am learning (painfully, at times) to turn to the Lord and claim His power over that weakness.

Your situation may not be weakness, but it is of the flesh (we'll have these fleshly/human natures until we reach Heaven) and as such, it is subject to God's power to tear down the strongholds. Let us claim that power in our lives and find the victory.

Please keep us posted on how you're doing, and like DMIKIT said, perhaps a nutritionist or dietician could help. God performs miracles, but He also expects us to take advantage of professionals to help us.

Love in Christ,
Nancy

I will definitely pray for you, but I am curious just how much chocolate you are eating per day at this point.

The reason I am asking is if it definitely is the caffeine component, then maybe you could wean yourself off chocolate with the aid of coffee sweetened with Splenda or maybe diet soda. That would at least get you away from the calories. Also, because you can sip those gradually, it might be easier to wean yourself off by drinking a little less every few days.

I am also hoping that you have seen a doctor. I am not one, but I haven't ever heard of such extreme symptoms from chocolate. Maybe a nutritionist or dietician could help with ideas?

Anyway, keep taking it to the Lord and He will see you through. Remember that He has a reason for the trials He allows us to go through, sometimes He takes us around the storm, but sometimes He takes us through the middle, but He will always see us through. Take care, sweetie, with Christ all things are possible.

I join with Lou in praying for God to help you in this battle, my friend, to set you free from it. I will do some research and see if there are others out there who have had this fight with chocolate and won. There may even be SparkTeams with folks who have won the chocolate wars. I know that God is ABLE and that through Him YOU are able. I rejoice even now over God's goodness in giving you victory. We are standing with you and cheering you on.

Hi Susana. Sounds like chocolate is an enemy of yours, more so than for others. We sure will pray for you to be freed from this demon. You may also want to post this under Prayer Requests since many team members check there first for prayer requests. -- Lou

Need prayer to lose weight and keep it off. But I have a hard time with.... going without chocolate. Not sugar as much as much as I have a problem with the caffeine in the chocolate. I have tried to go off chocolate many times, but fail; because I know I am hooked on it and the sugar comes as a byproduct of the chocolate. And the weight with the sweets! Its a habit that I cant seem to break. Cant go off the chocolate, and I have tried. I will be okay for about three days then the headaches come! and then when I am on chocolate, the caffeine overstimulates my brain if I have too much, and I get a static like flickering in my head and feel it in my eyes. Then head pain. A vicious cycle!

I end up having migraines or flickering inside my head going off the chocolate! ! If you have ever seen static on a TV screen its what happens inside my head.STATIC! I feel it and it increases as the caffeine is needed! The caffein actually calms the brain by stimulating it.
When I get too much caffeine it overstimulates my brain. Justa s bad as being unstimulated! And if I dont get enough I cant seem to get anything done, I need the stimulant or I get lethargic and headaches. I need the caffeine but its hard to be precise about how much without the flickering or the headaches. Its a fine line of distinctions. The "flickering" activity starts in my ears then I feel it in my brain and sometimes I cant tell it apart when it gets so HIGH pitched and it makes me jittery and puts me on the verge of having a seizure if I have too much chocolate! Its hard to explain but I get like very bad static before a seizure in my head with too much chcolate and when I dotn get enough I get the ehadaches; it can go either way! If I dont get the pain I get the lethargy! I get too much chocolate or too little theres problems. When I get too much flickering in my head I take a sedative to calm the brain activity down. And if I try and go off the chocolate the same static can comes back. Its the same thing that can happen with too much or too little of a stimulant! hard to balance it out! If I dont take the sedative I have to take the magnesium.

I hear the sound and I panic, when I hear it at a certain decibel in my ears. First its like a high pitch sound when it comes then the flickering and then the jitteryness. Many times it happens just when I am tired. I get very edgy when the chocolate wears off but i dont dare have any chocolate too late or it will keep me awake all night! and I will get flickering when I want to sleep and then the jitteryness. Its like a balancing act. Too much caffeine and too late, and it makes me jittery or on the verge of a seizure (I have not had one in 7 years!) then I need a sedative. If I take too much of a sedative I get very groggy and cant wake up. I cant take more than two sedatives (I used to be able to take up to 6 before then I would be calm . But when things get very unsettling as things have been while my husband was in the hopsital and now when my one daughter has been home (she has a way of getting me upset by pushing my buttons the wrong way) then I find I have to increase the dosage of the sedative. So its hard to go off chocolate or the sedatives! I cant always be the same self I want to be.

My prayer is to be able to go off the chocolate and try to lose weight but its hard to go off them both esp the chocolate and not have to take any sedation or have the need of a stimulant! Its a fine balance act to stay normalized and I do NOT want to go on any medication to do it because I have similar issues going off medications! I know G*d can help me, he got me thru 5 years of having seizures without going on Dilantin. I know he can help me with my diet and get off this same treadmill of up and down need for a stimulant and a sedative! I just feel I need a lot of prayer. I know with G*d all things are possible! Please pray for me? Things just have been hairy all year and I have not been able to lose weight because I been so stressed out that I keep putting on the weight. I will get it down and then something happens and I lose it! And start eating again! Please pray for me? Thanks!
