I checked with my son who is a flight attendant with anonther airline than you are traveling with but his answer was what I had expected. That is should not be a problem of using more than one seatbelt extender. Remember the seatbelts are for safety.

Yigobutterfly, thank you so much for your response! I will make sure to remember your tips! I would think I would be able to do laundry at my sister's house if needed- packing clothes that can be washed together is a great idea. You can use more than one seat belt extender at a time?

MINTTEAINIOWA I have flown a lot and am blessed because I fly space available because my son is a flight attendant. I have had no trouble getting the seat belt extender and yes there are times I have been squished especially when others are heavy and sprawl. If one extension does not work do ask for another one. I fly from Guam into the states and then fly all over visiting family and friends.

If you have gotten two seats there should not be a problem.

I usually fly with a carry on and a medium size suitcase in the hold. Pack basics and extra underwear. Perhaps four sets of clothes if going for a week and a half. Can you plan to do laundry where you are going? If you chose clothes that can all be washed at one time, one load while there should take care of your needs.

Ask for an isle seat. When you get settled feel around under or towards the back of the armrest for the button that releases the armrest so it will lift up and make it easier to get out of the seat because you can turn your body into the isle and stand up. Yes, you can lift the armrest between you and where another person would sit but the isle seat is handy and makes getting up and down easier. If you cannot find it ask a flight attendant. If the one you ask request another help you. This is really important if you need to use the bathroom during the flight.

If you have more questions let me know.

Hi everyone!

I am turning 40 this month, and am really hoping to fly to Florida to visit my sister this year. Kind of a "while I am 40 bucket list" kind of thing mixed with an "overcoming a fear" kind of thing.

I have never flown. I am not scared of the flying itself... but I am scared to death of the flying while fat experience. There are so many horror stories about how other passengers treat plus size travelers, plus the fear of not fitting in the seat, and the fear of encroaching on a stranger's space. And what if I'm too fat for the seat belt extender?

I would be flying Allegiant because it's a direct flight- no need to worry about finding my way around multiple strange airports, or trying to get through the crowd to get to the next gate on time. I already plan on paying for two seats to help cut down on the anxiety of bugging a stranger by sitting too close to them, and that way I won't have to worry about being too big for 1 seat and being bumped from the flight. And I am hoping to fly down at the same time as a friend flies down to visit her Mom- I don't want to fly by myself the first time.

How have your experiences been while flying? And does anyone have any tips on how to pack as a plus-sized passenger? Bigger clothes take up more space- how do you manage to pack for a week or week and a half? Any tips at all about things to do, things to look out for, ways to make flying easier would be very greatly appreciated!
