The most interesting place would have to be either Morocco or Belfast, N. Ireland in '73

Lord, I love thee
For the music of the waters, For the wild wind's melody, For the arch of heaven's splendor, For the secrets of the sea. For the wonders of the night-time, For the glory of the day, For the blessed joy of living, Lord I love thee. For the pearly flush of rose leaves, For the flower scented air, For the trembling hush of dawning, For all the beauty of everywhere, For the joy of friendly faces, For the graces of each day, For the hope of winning heaven, Lord I love thee.

Jody,
Your pictures are wonderful and brought back great memories of my trip there in 2000. I know I was amazed at how modern Shanghai is. It made me think of the old TV show, The Jetsons. The Great Wall with snow!!! I don't think I have ever seen a picture like that. Thank you so much for sharing your pictures. How about a little write up on what you liked, did not like, what surprised you, etc. about China??

I have not been to as many places as I would like, but I really want to go back to Finland and Russia. I was an exchange student in Russia in 1992, and I would live to go back to see the changes, and other cities I missed the first time around. I like being 'up close and personal'. Sure the tourist places are nice to see, but I like the less traveled places, grocery stores, meat markets, book stores, laundrymats; I like to see how the people live day to day: public transport and hostles all the way!

Just joined this group. Each place I have been was a delight and interesting to me for a different reason. The cultures even in Europe are so different. I have seen the ruins of Nan Mandol, Pohnpei when I lived in Pohnpei for a year. I have also sailed to the lower islands of Chuuk State which are flat atolls.

I have also been to Japan, Denmark, England, Scotland and Brussels. I was able to take a train through the Chunnel which was another experience.

I am hoping to go to Japan next spring to view the cherry blossoms.

I recently returned from a trip to Romania and enjoyed it immensely. The Transylvania region with its Medieval flavors, the Carpathian mountains, the sheep herders and the bustling city of Bucharest each had a unique experience of its own to offer. My favorite city was Sibiu and would highly recommend a visit to anyone thinking of a trip to this country.

My husband still has a few remaining relatives in Bucharest and I hope to return in the near future to reacquaint myself with his family and customs once more.

Turkey was really interesting but I have a soft spot for the Balkans. I lived in Central Europe for two years and travelled East as much as I could but didnt get to Albania or Romania... they're my next trip.
I'm also going back to Turkey in a month or two for the wedding of a friend who lives there... am looking forward to it and hoping I can find a flight that is affordable.

Just about everywhere I have been has been interesting. I love learning about the history of the places I visit and how that has influenced the current society.
A very specific place that I found amazing was Canterbury Cathedral. When I walked up the steps into the cathedral, I noticed how worn the stone was and thought of the pilgrimages to Canterbury going back to the middle ages and all the people who climbed those steps.
The other aspect of the cathedral that was interesting was seeing the the supposed spot where Thoms Beckett was murdered by King Henry II's knights. I could just imagine the scene. At Canterbury Cathedral, history came alive for me.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.

I travelled through Poland, East Germany and USSR in 1988, before the wall came down and It was really interesting (and a bit scary). While we were there an incident arose between US an Iran and we (as US citizens) were not allowed out of the country. We finally were released to go to Finland on the 4th of July and we really appreciated our freedom! I went back in 1999 and everything was different.

The most interesting place I have been to is Asia. I loved the northern and southern parts of Vietnam. Traveling on the Mekong Delta river in a paddle raft to go into the jungles. I loved China for all it's different taste, smells and beautiful cities. Yes all of it's confusion, loud noises and smog. Look beyond that and you will be enriched with a life rewarding experience.

It's hard to choose, I really liked Kyoto and Hiroshima in Japan and spent days wandering around. And people think I'm nuts but I love Bangkok, once you get used to the organized chaos and make your way out of the tourist traps it's amazing - but then again I think all of Thailand is amazing.

And I am blessed to live in a very interesting country, Iceland. Even though I have lived here all my life I still find new, beautiful places to visit and I'm always amazed.

I think that the next trip I take will be the most interesting yet though, going to Greenland for a week next month. Can't wait

Mexico City is definitely the most interesting place I've been. It's so full of culture and history, dating back thousands of years. The architecture is beautiful, the food is super delicious, the shopping is awesome, the nightlife is so vibrant, the culture is so rich, the energy that the city exudes is intense, and the people know how to have fun. I will also have to add Zambia and South Africa, the landscape and atmosphere are things that can't be found anywhere else in the world. And South Korea as well, I've been here for a few months and I'm still trying to get used to everything and soak it in.

Most interesting place I've been to is definitely Croatia. It's also the most beautiful. Italy comes close, but not quite- Croatia has less congestion, is cheaper, but has gorgeous beaches, friendly natives, and history to boot!

One of the most interesting place I've visited is Rapa Nui,(Easter Island),Chile. Interesting, unusual, fascinating.
I was there a little over ten years ago so I can only speak from my experience: No stop lights, no ATMs, no nail salons, no fast food chains, no deep water harbor, men on horseback ... bare back. The night sky was magnificent. I've never seen so many stars.
Eternal questions: How were the Moais moved? Why were they created?
I am very grateful to have had the pleasure of visiting it! emoticon

It has to be Bruges, Belgium. I spent a summer traveling Europe by train, and I had no intention of even going to Belgium, well maybe Brussels at a push, but where ever I went, everybody said you have to go to Bruges. Well after four weeks of being told that, I finally changed my plans, and boy was I glad I did. This city is incredible, The outside of the buildings are listed, and have not been changed in 500 years. Inside there are Pizza Hut's or what ever, but there is no signage from the outside, and you need to peer in. Absolutely stunning town with its canals and authentic buildings.

I agree with the ones mentioning Romania, it's an absolutely incredibly country to visit. One of my closest friends is a native Romanian and I have been fortunate enough to visit her gorgeous country twice. She thinks I'm out of my mind because I think of Bucharest as one of the most fantastic and thrilling places ever emoticon I'm incredibly lucky to know her- it has made my visits so much richer in that I've had someone who really knows the country to show me around and by living with her and her family I've experienced Romanian culture and traditions in a way I never would have otherwise.

Another place that I simply adore is San Fransisco. That city has absolutely everything. I only stayed there for a couple of days, but the atmosphere was absolutely magical from the very first moment and for some odd reason I really felt completely at home there. It's the one place in the world I'm dreaming of going back to.

Finally I have to say that there's hardly a place in the world that fascinates me as much as Egypt. Being a former student of Egyptology and having been interested in the ancient culture and mythology of that country for as long as I can remember, the one week I spent there was absolutely out of this world. We stayed at a hotel in Hurghada and within one single week we'd been to Cairo, Giza, Luxor, Karnak and the Valley of Kings. We weren't really recommended to go for that many trips in such a short time, but we just couldn't leave Egypt without seeing all of those sights. Another place I will definitely be visiting again one day.

Javajo, I would go again in a minute. I love Eastern Europe. The year before I biked from Vienna, through the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and ended up in Budapest, Hungary. So I was lucky to get to go back and add Romania to the list.

Funny side note: When we flew into Bucharest, we went to rent a car, but the lady said we have no cars for Americans. We asked her why (like did our insurance not cover us?). No, it turns out the did not have any automatic shifting cars. When were assured her a stick was great, she then had cars for us.

I honeymooned in Transylvania, Romania. This was in 1999, so things were still very eastern block feeling. Except for Dracula's mini market across from Bran Castle, that was just surreal....

Hi there, I have travelled to about 40 odd countries over the years and do love cities. I currently live in Beijing. One of my favourite countries is Swaziland (Thailand, Brazil and Cuba are also cool!!) and my fav city must be London (Barcelona a close second).

As a new member to this team, I LOVE reading about everyone's journey to all their exotic places. It would be so awesome to see pics on google or some other website if anyone would be interested! Once we have the opportunity to travel and discover the world, it never truly leaves you does it???

Hong Kong, but I was surprised about how many people spoke English.

I love to travel but one of our most interesting trips was a motorcycle trip around Florida in January. It turned out that this was the coldest January they'd had down there in 8 years. Even Key West was only 65 degrees and riding a motorcycle drops the temps further. Still had a great time but glad I packed an extra sweat shirt.

I love Paris! But I have so many more places I want to go. I am looking at studying abroad in either Brussels, Belgium, or Iceland within the next few years.
