So got my daughter married this past Saturday.
The bride was beautiful, the ceremony was lovely and Christ centered.
The reception was fun and went extremely smoothly.
Now I am nearly packed and ready to take off for Malawi.
Busy summer for this girl!

Feeling a little spoiled but my old machine is probably not going to last forever. I will still use if for some of my heavier projects as it will go through pretty much anything.
Decent but cool day today. Was windy but had calmed down and low and behold the sun came out.
I need to be disciplined and keep working on stuff.
Reality is there is a lot to do and I am taking off for most of 4 days.
Headed to see the soon to be wed daughter and hopefully meet the soon to be mother in law and step mother in law.
I will take a few more plants with me.
Most of those are coming along nicely.

About the same weather here too...along with sudden downfalls of rain!! Is this really June 1st?

Nice to have a new sewing machine. A fellow spark member has just bought a s/h long arm quilter machine...she's more than pleased with it!!
I can't even hazard a guess as to how many years I've had my very basic sewing machine, but it still does the job if it ventures out of the cupboard!

Dull weather here too.
Windy, some rain.
I had some information to get to my church but that's pretty much as far as I got.
I decided to purchase a new to me sewing machine yesterday. It's pretty nice.
I am surprised some of the things machines do today.
I am pleased with it so far.
No cycling today with the wind and wet.

Here the wind is due to be 43mph tonight....that makes for a noisy night, not that I shall be troubled by it.
Hope you got some cycling in.

We haven't done much today...a visitor this morning and a dull weather day so we stayed home.

wind is the story of ND.
It's been relatively calm for a good number of days now.
Not sure what to do with this glory.
Hoping to bike later this evening. probably at the river.
Not sure what our plan is for tomorrow.
I have thought about making a day trip to Metagoshie where Austin is working.
They have great biking there and we could check out his world.
Today was church. I actually did some work on the quilt top before church.
Went out for lunch at a little Chinese place we like.
Then to Penneys and home.
Now have been to the library for a new book.
We have leftovers for supper so I may sew a bit yet then we will eat and load the bikes. By the time I load them and get to the river I will have settled my supper enough to ride.

Good for you Lori...sounds like you're on track now.

I've now finished my antibiotics...tonight and hoping that the new inhalers carry me forward to better breathing.
Did some shopping yesterday...new sandals for me, been looking for some for a while now. This afternoon we walked at the country park for an hour. Although it was sunny it was terribly windy.

Better food day today. Not a great day for working out.
Got a lot done on the quilt for my oldest daughters wedding gift.
Lots more to do but if feels probable to finish it now.
Raining a bit today.

Amanda moved into the apartment where they will live after marriage.
Jimmy will join her after the wedding. I honestly think they will cook and entertain at the new apartment a good share of the time.
I moved and watered plants a lot again today and packed up some stuff to take to Sioux Falls where Amanda lives. I am hoping to take about 70 plants in flat boxes in a week and a half.
Hoping that she can take another group of 30 or so when she is here in May. Hoping the rest fit in the back of my vehicle when I go down for the wedding.
I have been more then willing and even enjoyed growing all these plants but getting them there and arranged and all is quite the undertaking.
Hope you work out the menues for your trip.

Thanks, me too. I've got some pkts of tofu foods to take with me. I've emailed them about vegetarian foods and was told it's eggs! Not very helpful for 10 days of protein.

Glad you found what you were looking for. How will you transport all those plants. boxed?
Is that the place she will live after she's married?

The predicted temps today were 57...can't see it even made 50!
Had our meeting this morning and then lunch. Afterwards we both sorted out some summer clothes for the holiday. Hard to think of higher temps when it's only 50* here!!

Hope it's a great trip.
It was 70 here today.
Our weather is pretty changeable and that's a fact.
We went to a large church fundraiser rummage this am and I got lots of glass containers and a punch bowl. Have been looking for one cheap and large so as not to have to borrow one. This was the 5th one I saw and is the biggest of the lot. I am pleased with the time I spent this morning.
I now have over 250 plants ready in their containers. I just have to maintain and possibly upgrade a few. They should be pretty established by the 25th of June.
Amanda was moving into her new apartment today. It will be nice for her to have more space and privacy.
I got to the gym today for a short work out. I also managed to get in some Frisbee practice. I am going to become competitive.

I like sandy beaches but here my beach is shingle. In Tenerife it's some black sand.

We had frost this morning...not as bed as your covering but still unwelcome for the 1st April!

We might try the beach but I think the sea will be very cold this time of year...

Ugh...hope that snow doesn't hang around. My birthday is mid April and I've seen snow fall on that day several times over the years, but it's not usual.

Sounds like fun Janet.
I love the ocean and it should be warm enough for beach walks and such even if you don't want to swim.
I am watching it snow out the large windows here today. Hoping this is March's final lion roar and we will get more nicer weather soon.

I know we're looking forward to some downtime but we will also be walking. I'm not too sure about swimming though. Last time I tried that it made my back really sore and could be the same with Joseph's injury too. But we will get in the pool and enjoy the water anyway.
I've had other people assure me that they didn't gain weight so thanks for that. We go on the 8th- 20th April to Tenerife. (If I haven't already said)

Scale was a little better this morning.
Our weather is moderating again.
Soon I will be biking.
That always helps.
Good luck with the holiday.
I will add as a note of encouragement that when we cruise I have not ever gained weight because we keep so active and I spend long hours in the ocean. Hope it works well for you too.

It's a hard balance going away and not incharge of the catering. We do what we can.
Don't worry, you're home now so can get to work again.

I have a 10day all inclusive holiday coming up and that will take some mindful eating to get me through that lot.

Full weekend, lots of food, lots of fun and games.
My scale is up. I am figuring some is the car rides, some is my female cycle and some is actual weight. I am going to wait to Thurs. to post my month total.
It feels sad right now.

Thanks for the congrats for Matt, he training hard now for his next one in mid April. This one is double the distance.
Good for your future sil...I think it's a healthy past time for them to have.

Glad you've identified a dress that you at least like. Don't blame you for waiting for the scale to move down some more....you're working hard enough for it.

Yes we're around 50 here too but this w/e have high winds and heavy rain forecast...
Two weeks today... emoticon emoticon emoticon

Congratulations to Matt.
My soon to be son in law is a runner. He has done some marathons. He is running with coworkers in a distance relay. He has a 20 mile section for that, I am assuming with hills.
Amanda runs some but with her schedule has slowed down a lot.
I have a dress I like online but I am waiting to order to see what my scale does for a while. It would also be nice to get a sale price. It's a little pricier than my ideal range.
It's cool here right now. Supposed to get to 50 tomorrow but cooler over the weekend.
I like sun and warmth.

Glad you had a good trip and great scale result too...always good when we can stay in control of the food stakes.
Sounds like you'll still be looking for a dress but you still have time.

Matt did well with his half marathon and is now training hard for his next one in mid April.
Joseph's had a physio assessment now and seems the shunt may have caused some bones to move so they're rubbing and so causing the pain. At least he has some idea of the reason now.

Weather is so up some down. Walking is good but we have some rain coming this way tonight...unfortunately.

Well I am home and my weight hasn't risen so that seems a good thing.
I do not have a dress but I have better ideas.
Did see the reception room for Amanda's wedding and took some pictures of the church.
Have gotten a renewed list of things to do and am back home managing plants

Hope maybe you've found the dress by now....

Day out planned for tomorrow in another town and have a bit of a shopping list of some diverse things so have to see what we can find.
My son Matt is running in the town's half marathon on Sunday morning so hope to see him run past at some point en route.

I think it's really nice to know that they're all doing well and happy in what they're doing.
My experience of trying to get information from sons is...they tell you what they think you want to hear...!!
Good to hear the wedding plans are coming along nicely and hope you can find a nice dress to wear for the occasion.
Sarah is to be a bridesmaid at a wedding at the end of April...the details of the brides and bridesmaid's dresses being made sound like a nightmare to me!! Just hope that comes together alright...

Had a nice good catch up time with Sarah this afternoon. Had hoped to see something of the twins but that amounted to a hug and hello grandma and then a hug and goodbye grandma! Too busy with the Xbox.

Emily and Austin are in Florida with Students for Spring Break. Actually I think they are packing up to come home today. This is an evangelism training project. Other then that they are serving on campus in St. Cloud and Emily is at the regional office in the cities some days.

Amanda is busy. She is a full time teacher and taking to graduate classes toward her masters degree. She is pretty on the ball with wedding plans. I will see her next weekend. We have a few things to work on in person. Also was going to do some mother, daughter shopping.

Austin is good. He is going to school in Fargo and working some at Gander Mountain, a sporting goods store. The rest of his time is mostly taken up with fishing and frisbee golf.
He is a social creature. I am not sure how he is doing spiritually. He was in a bible study. Not sure right now. He also was going to church regularly and now I am not sure on that. He is spending this coming Thursday and Friday with me and hopefully we will have some helpful conversations.

I am hoping that I will find a mother of the Bride dress while on my travels.
We shall see. I am also hoping to keep up my diet and exercise. Another
we shall see.

Hope Ted found Austin well....what's he doing now? Amanda must be counting down to her wedding date...how's the planning going? And Emily & her husband, are they serving the Lord somewhere other than where they live?

Great news that you're able to control your cholesterol with diet...I never could and believe they've even given up testing me now!! utter relief too.

We've had a problem with anti social behaviour at 1am so had to call the police in the morning. Fortunately, they take this sort of thing seriously.

Rejoicing that my cholesterol counts have improved.
Now if I can just keep up with everything.
The extra exercise has been hard on my knee. I am hoping with more diligence with weight lifting I will overcome that. Of course losing additional weight will also help.
Need to be vigilant.
It's a sunny day again today. I may get a bike ride in.

So re the cookie bars. I ate one yesterday and one today so it could be worse.
I have had a slow day. I will still have guests tonight. Ted went to Fargo for most of the day to spend time with Austin.
He is on his way home now.
I did church this morning 2nd service because it worked better with extra's here.
Then I came home and at a little and changed and went out biking.
I really need something to boost me up today.
My scale says up a pound and other then Friday I have been very diligent about exercise and I cleaned house like a mad woman Friday.
Right now it feels like I could just as well have eaten the whole pan of bars.. GRRRRR

So I made Raspberry cream cheese coffee cake and stayed out of that.
However I made chocolate chip pan cookies today so there is something for a snack when they get home this evening. They are looking pretty tempting.

Sounds like a danger point...I can so easily get swayed off plan if the mindset isn't right. That's the puzzle...why sometimes and not others?

I made Joseph an apple pie and custard yesterday...was I tempted? nope!

We have mother's day here on Sunday...that is likely to replenish my flower vases.

Maybe I will buy myself some flowers.
The house is coming along pretty well right now.
There are more things I want to do but it's at a point of acceptability.
I also think I made a plan for supper tonight.
I probably should bake something to have around for breakfast and snacks.
Thing is then I tend to eat it.
We shall see.

I think it's one of those tasks that nobody seems to even notice. But I know the feeling of having a mad blitz when company is coming!! lol.

Been a beautiful sunny day today and coupled with the spring flowers made life feel brighter.

So looking at the working of God today.
I have been in a slump as far as cleaning and getting anything besides my job, working out and cooking done. Just doesn't seem that worthwhile to keep up the house when no one is around.
I have been in the habit of cleaning the hall bath, the kitchen and living room and letting a lot of other things go.
Got a call from a missionary today. They were looking for a place for their whole family to stay this weekend. I guess I will clean the rest of the house today and tomorrow.
I have been praying for motivation, I think this is an answer.
I try to practice hospitality. There are just not all that many people who partake of it.
Anyway I will be on a cleaning rampage today and tomorrow.

I think it is in order to pray for this young man.
He is only 22 and it seems like he was a pretty upstanding person and has gotten in with a bad crowd. He and his dad are trying to get him back to Puerto Rico.
Our Wendy's are all pretty good. I think the one in Country West area might be the best.
We also have exceptionally well run McDonalds but there is really nothing on their menu that suits my current dietary habits.

We eat at Wendy's once in a while. We have 3 at different ones in the cities that are closest to us and only one is good. Strange how the same menu can taste different at the different places! I like their salads too.

What an experience you had Lori! I too would have done a lot of praying! You just don't know about people you come in contact with! We are living in a scary world.

Wendy's does have the best fast food salads in our area.
I am getting tired of salad. I had foods not on my approved list tonight but not totally off base.
We'll see. I just don't think I am much of a vegetarian at heart.
However I am pretty much off sugar and I did have veggies.
I got whole grain chicken pizza pocket things.
A lot of cheese but reduced fat and whole grain.
It's going to have to be a compromise sometimes.

Thanks for sharing that testimony....sounds like the sort of saga we'd get tied up in and have in the past!!
I would have been praying a lot too.

We visited Wendy's when we were in the States...always surprised my how much people eat out, whereas it's more of a rarity for us.

Interesting thing today.
We typically dine out for our noon meal on Sundays.
Lately that has been at Wendy's.
They have and Asian Chicken Cashew salad that is at least close to fitting my new eating plan.
I was sitting while my husband ordered. I had noticed the young man across from our table when I came in. He was laid out over the table in front of him.
He seemed agitated and was holding his head from time to time and at times looked like he was praying. At one point he looked at me and asked if I could feel him. I wasn't sure what he meant by this as he was five feet away.
He also later mentioned that he had done something very bad and he wanted to be near people like us.
We at our meal and Ted asked him if he wanted someone to talk to or pray with. They went out to Ted's car to sit as he said yes and thought somewhere private was best. I waited in Wendy's and watched. Pretty soon they drove off. I had my vehicle there too. I was a little disturbed but went home to take care of few things hoping I would hear from Ted soon.
I prayed a lot.
Anyway he met a guy he knew would be at the church who is a deputy or prison warden and they took him to the E. R. Turns out he was high on LSD.
Anyway all is well. I hope the guy is okay. It was a new way to do Sunday lunch.

It's cooler today but still lots of sunshine.
If I didn't work this afternoon I would probably try a short hop on my bike.
I could dress warm

Yes we do have a bit of a heat wave. I know it wont last but I will bike while the sun shines.
It will still feel cool by the river, all that cold water but I am hoping to get a long ride in.
Making my husband come along.
Trying to think up a recipe for supper. I am not sure what I want and what I should eat.
I am pretty sure on chicken though so I should get that out.
Also time to do some laundry.
Have a fun trip! I am taking off over spring break and we'll see how that goes with food and exercise.

You have a heatwave over there...about 37F here....not happy. Yesterday I was out and got so cold I don't think I warmed up until I went to bed.

Did some shopping quickly this morning and then home again to get warmed up.
We've booked a holiday...6 weeks and counting...for some sunshine! emoticon I have a pretty big birthday this year so will be a nice celebration.

I agree that's why I am chatting here and talking about diet and exercise in the other thread.
It's 50 something out and that's truly unheard of in Feb. in North Dakota.
First bike ride of the season but I did get in 4 miles.
I am headed to the river tomorrow where it is flatter for a longer easier ride.

I think it would make sense to move the chatting back to this thread since people who are new or have been away would look here first for chatting.

I got lots of glass for my plants yesterday so I have been planting away.

So I cut up more plants for the wedding yesterday.
I am thinking we are going to put some burlap and twine and a kraft paper label on all these plants and then burlap and lace on the votive cups.
I am hoping we will be planning some of this over my spring break.
It's a bit of effort but it is spread over time and I should be good as long as I keep working on it.
Plants require diligence. These babies have to be watered often to get the roots going but not to much or rot will set in.
So far so good.
Definitely finding some plants do better then others in the propagation thing.
Janet R. you should maybe see if you have a hiatle hernia. There are management tips for that.
I hope it gets better.

I know, I've been praying for Evelyn too. So sad to lose a husband or wife.

Continuing to pray for the sale of Leah & Mitch's house. I know what utter relief it was to know ours was done with!!
Glad you'll have some time with Leah over the holiday time. Your grandson's are probably as excited as mine.

Still coping with Joseph and the back issues...hope after today's injection he will start to feel somewhat better. The solicitor is in contact with us about the personal accident claim. I told her I should have made a claim too for all the stress it's caused me!!

Leah will be with us while she is here and Mitch will be back and forth between a friend in Carbondale and here. They have a friend who is renting "part" of their house so someone is there and is watching over things plus helps them some with the mortgage.

I saw Evelyn's post and have responded to her. Praying for her. Loosing someone even when it is expected is so hard! I don't know that we are ever really ready to say good-bye.

Congrats to Amanda and her young man on their engagement. Do they have a date planned for their wedding?
How exciting to be off to Africa again...I know you will be busy organising that. Hope you'll keep us posted on another blog.

Janet...you'll be happy to have Leah & Mitch home for Christmas...will they stay in their house or with you?

As I've said elsewhere the house in Spain is sold, such an answer to prayer and a huge relief. It's still been work to tie up the loose ends with our legal lady though.
Joseph continues to struggle with pain management with his back...not sure the answer is but if it doesn't settle maybe the surgeon will try more shots.

Congrats on your daughter's engagement! Is this trip a mission trip or just a visit? Sounds like you do have a lot going on.

I've not done any decorating yet. I've been busy sewing on orders and gifts. Leah and Mitch will be home the 19th so I will have to get busy next week cleaning and decorating

So I have been hit or miss.
It's been busy.
We are planning a visit to Rafiki Village Ghana the 30th of Dec. til the 18th ish of January. Preparations need to start happening.
I am trying to get Christmas together. I am not doing bad but not good either. I have taken on too many projects I am trying to make.
Full house for Thankgiving and the day before.
And then the biggest news is that my daughter is now engaged. She has found a great young man to spend her life with.
So life is pretty busy.

I think it does take us time to get used to the time change. I'm still waking quite early but as Janet said it's so nice to be able to lay a little longer. Personally I never nap during the day unless I'm sick and go to bed to rest and sleep.

Re the house sale...thankfully we had an email from our legal lady saying she's waiting for the contract to come from the other side. Praying it's moving along now...
Just wet and rainy days here....

I know what you mean about the time change. Yesterday I slept about 4 hours was up for 3 then went back to sleep for 3 hours. Last night I actually slept 7 hours straight! I got quite a bit of exercise yesterday between cleaning and using my "new" treadmill!

The main reason I don't want to join a gym is the fact that I don't go like I should. I'll start out good and then fizzle out. It is easier for me to make the time at home to exercise

Well I haven't held on to the wake sleep improvement the time change should have given me.
I am managing to exercise a little more.
Good for you to get a treadmill. I am thinking about home exercise equipment again. Thing is if I truck myself over to the Y I always do something and usually if I get started I do more.

I'm going to have to aim for earlier walks now! I am going to be given a treadmill and I think I will like that this winter! Thank you Lord for good friends!

I was off yesterday too with the time change and this morning I woke up early but laid in bed and prayed and dozed on and off for a while! That is one thing I really love about retirement is being able to get up gradually! Then I got up and made coffee then read my Bible for the morning. Our church is reading the Gospels this month, 3 chapters a day and we will have all 4 read! Then at night I read some before i go to bed. I'm in Acts and my goal is to finish the New Testament by Dec 31. Then I will have read through the Bible again this year

I was actually waiting for the time change. My sleep clock has been off and I hope to adjust it with this time change.
We shall see.
Noticed Paul describing the Ungodly people as having their belly as their god in Phillipians 3.
It's my motivation for the moment.
Don't want that.

Actually while the clocks are claiming things are happening earlier, the actual daylight time is changing only by a few minutes per day. I may reset my clocks, but I am still getting up at the same time according to the sun. Previously I was getting up at 5:45 AM, now I get up at 4:45 AM. I do not like the effect of getting up at a different time on my body, so I ignore the artificial time that the government imposes on us. Of course for appointments I have to do what the clock says, but I don't like it.

Maintaining.

2 Timothy 1: 7
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

We did the clocks last w/e...I don't care for the short afternoon before it gets dark either.
Today we've had a covering of fog most of the day...looks like we have a week of fog, cloud and some rain to come...November I suppose!

enjoy your weekend Lori! We are rainy this morning but suppose to end after the morning and then just cloudy. Tomorrow we are going to be in upper 60's and then 70's for a couple of days before rain next weekend. Deer season next weekend!

We set our clocks back tonight so it will get dark earlier. Don't like that!!
