Probably headed to the dr tomorrow (wed) my dh says I sound bad with this upper respiratory thing. I've learned he is usually right.

Carrie, sounds like you had a fun, full day!

That must have been fun to see the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels!

I had a houseful of kids today (7 grands & 1 daycare). Morning was working on homeschool work and the afternoon I helped a granddaughter make a bag for her mom.

Carrie, so sorry you are still dealing with this composting toilet! Sure hope you got somewhere today when you called. Glad you got to get away a little. Praying for your feet!

So, I think we have more than allergies...ugh. We went to an air show Saturday and took my dmil as a Mother's Day fun day. She said that it was one of the best days she has had in a long time. Praise God! My dfil was in the Air Force when they first got married and I was not sure if being on an Air Force base and seeing some of the planes he used to work on would be a happy memory or a sad memory of missing him. Thankfully, it seemed to be happy memories and we heard more stories about their beginnings which even the kids loved. We were able to see the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels! It was raining by the end and we were soaked by the time we got to the car. Mother's Day was spent with my family. Dad made a delicious lunch for all of us. Sure do miss my mom, though. Trying to keep things in the perspective of eternity but this just hurts. I feel like I should be further along in my grief as it will be 4 years in June. Not feeling well is certainly not helping my (stupid) emotions.

We have narrowed things down to the fact that they sent us a defective toilet. All wires were secure and there was continuity in them. I have to call the company today.

We had a nice drive from the cabin to Winter Park where we stayed Saturday night and then Sunday morning we went to church in Hot Sulphur Springs. The pastor and his family had stayed with us last October during a conference at our church. It was nice to see them again.
After church we came home and just relaxed.

This morning I did the first of the season lawn mowing and got my exercise in for the day!

Jenn - Allergies are no fun. Hope they subside soon!

I went to my podiatrist today. I got a shot in my right foot for the Morton's Neuroma. I have had problems with my left foot this week. He took an x-ray and elimated a stress fracture, but did find some calcium deposits and said I had tendonitis. He wants me in a boot for a couple of weeks and to take some anti-inflammatory med.

Tomorrow, we are heading up to our cabin in Red Feather to do some problem solving on the compost toilet. Hopefully we can figure out what is wrong.

Never got to the Amish farm to get plants. Kids and I have been dealing with allergies, I think that's all it is. So much pollen! Can't imagine how people in the south deal with all the pollen.

Carrie, I so understand! Praying for you! Enjoy your vacation.

Jenn -- Ants - no fun! It is always hard at the end of the school year. emoticon I usually don't plant any flowers until after Memorial Day.

I am getting frustrated with my weight. It keeps playing around with up and down. Today I stepped on the scale and I am my highest weight ever emoticon . I will going on vacation next week and I am nervous about weight gain. Gotta get my focus back and be sensible.

June! Wow! Glad you had a productive day! How are you feet? Did the shot help?

Mine was semi-productive. The ant invasion at our house began Monday after it rained all day Sunday. The ground is so saturated. We put some Terro out for them to "enjoy." Homeschool should be taking a lot less time but kids were not very motivated. We are so close to being done our school year. We all just want to be done. I want to get some flowers and maybe some garden plants today. We'll see if that happens.

We have had snow as late as beginning of June. Snow is predicted for tomorrow and Thursday.

It was a productive day. I made a sash, a tam, a flag and almost completed a banner for a client.

Elsie, love the pics - so cheerful and colorful!

Well, I've done poorly on the SPARK challenge thus far. Working at making this week different. It rained all day here yesterday. Hoping the sun would come out today but apparently that is a no. At least it is not raining.

I had 7 of my grandkids + 1 daycare boy on Tuesday. Didn't get much done except for sewing a few rosettes. My son brought 3 BIG boxes/tubs from my father's wife - she is moving and found more of his things. It was mainly Christmas items, Scottish things and some pictures + mom's cookware/bakeware. I will be taking pictures and seeing if any of my sisters want anything.

Yesterday was a quieter day and I was able to get a lot of misc things done. Then we had Community Group (our small group from church). We always have a potluck then sermon discussion/Bible study.

I went up to the cabin Sunday. My sister and nephew met me there and we worked together and fixed one of the compost toilets -- the one with the broken shear pin.

They went home afterwards and stayed up there to work on the other compost toilet in the other cabin. I cleaned up the kitty litter which we had put down a month ago to absorb the liquid on the floor. Then I painted Kilz on the floor. Then it was time to relax. I put on a movie and sewed rosettes. Then read for awhile.

This morning it started snowing at 9:00. While waiting until I could call the toilet tech (at 11:00) I laid stick on vinyl tile on the floor. And did the check points the toilet tech told me to do. It was supposed to be warm in the back where the heater is -- it wasn't. When I finally talked to the tech, he told me some other checkpoints to do. It meant opening up the toilet and doing a continuity test. I didn't have the right equipment and since it was snowing and already there was 2" on the ground, I headed home. At least we have one toilet working and have an outhouse.

Yesterday I had 7 grandkids and 1 daycare boy -- busy, busy!

I am ready for the May SPARK Challenge! Our 40th anniversary is at the end of the month -- hoping to lose some weight by then!

Amen, Elsie!

Carrie, praying for you and your dh.

Secret Church last Friday night was awesome. Had a bday party Sat. Went w/my dmil yesterday to dr and going shopping with her today (I think she is lonely). Preparing for our Ladies' Tea on Thursday at church. Friday we are going on a field trip and to dbil's house for dinner. Sat we'll most likely work on a bathroom project at my dmil's house. Thankful we are winding down with our school year.

Hi - It is hard to beliveve it has been a week + since I posted. Between taking care of my husband --It has been busy this week - I have concentrated on getting some of my kilt projects done. I finished one kilt, 3 plaids, a kilt skirt, and 3 sashes. I also took a little time and made the antennae and head blocks for the 10 ladybug blocks.

I also, went to the podiatrist on Wed and had shots for my Morton's Neuroma. It is a series of 3 shots every two weeks. My foot has hurt worse since the shots - I hope it will settle down soon.

Some of the weight has come off thankfully. Still stupid abt sweets in the house. Going to Aldi today and hope to get healthier options to take for snack breaks at church tonight. We have "Secret Church" tonight where we watch a simulcast from 7pm to 1am or so and there are multiple break times where we eat snacks, etc. Last year I just took junk food but there were some healthy options.

Carrie, so sorry your husband is dealing with vertigo. That is miserable! Praying he feels better soon.

Beautiful day here emoticon and 50.Kids and I are having a hard time concentrating on school as the weather gets nicer! lol Today we started school a little earlier hoping we get done earlier and can get outside. We can take breaks but it is often difficult to get back to school. We finish at the end of May but that seems so far away right now. The public schools where my dh works doesn't get done until June 18 for students!

I have done horrible with having sweets in the house. I make pb eggs for Easter and since we already celebrated w/my inlaws the kids have candy and share with me. I feel like I am in the shape of those pb eggs! emoticon emoticon Going to drink more water today to see if that helps. emoticon Have a great day, all!

My husband woke up with vertigo Friday morning, so spent the weekend taking care of him and doing some sewing on a kilt. I won't go up to the cabin to work on the toilets until next Monday as it snowed there this last week and my husband is still recovering from the vertigo.

Elsie - loved the quotes.

Hi Elsie, beautiful pictures!

Carrie, that must be so frustrating and tiring. Glad you have a helpful customer service guy to help you with the composting toilets. Hope you are able to get them fixed quickly. Hope today goes well for you.

We celebrated Easter yesterday with my inlaws. We'll celebrate this Sunday with my family. We had thunderstorms roll through last night so I don't think any of us slept well here.

Have a great Monday!

I finally got a call in to the compost toilet company. The man I talked to was very helpful. He needs more info to troubleshoot. We will not be able to return the toilets. Therefore I will be heading back up to the cabins next Monday. I am feeling better about things. I was just so frustrated and tired the other day.

I have been out of town for the last couple of days. I went to our family's cabins and spent two days cleaning out the outhouse and two compost toilets. Both of the toilets are new, but are already broken -- very frustrating!! I have to call the company tomorrow and hopefully will be able to get our money back.

I did a lot of walking up and down the hill. One cabin is up the hill from the other one. I am exhausted today, so very little exercise.

Jenn - Thanks for sharing. Years ago I had wrote out verses to help with weight loss and it helped. I lost 25 lbs then. But slowly gained it all back +more. I copied and printed out the verses she shared. Time to focus back on the Lord instead of just me losing weight.

My mom, who suffered from a respiratory disease for decades) used to keep 3x5 cards of Bible verses about healing and trusting the Lord. She'd read through them and pray over them daily. I never thought about doing it with verses that would help me on this weight loss journey! emoticon emoticon

I was wondering how you'd wear it! Thanks for the info. Found one like mine for even less money for my dh. He's happy about it. Should be here by the weekend!

The kids and I have been taking a public speaking class called Speaker for Christ that another homeschool mom offers in her home. She encouraged us to memorize at least 7 Bible verses and a song, poem, etc. The kids and I chose the story of Jesus calms the storm in Mark 4 and Christ the Sure and Steady Anchor. She encouraged my son to do more verses so he added the parable of the mustard seed. It has been wonderful. Our last class is Friday and our presentation and potluck is Saturday. We are excited and nervous.

Jenn - It tracks sleep, but I don't bother with that aspect. You do have to wear a soft wrist band holder while you sleep.

Carrie, how does the fitbit one do with tracking sleep? I considered buying my dh a fitbit one b/c he can't stand to have anything on his wrist. He is considering it. He tried my ds' watch on to see if he'd like it. I think dh would like either because he likes information/ data. I am doing pitifully on my steps. Really proving to me how sedentary I've become. Oh, well, gotta start somewhere. My kids, thankfully, have taken to the idea of getting 10,000 steps per day and have done so the last 2 days. Tomorrow it is to rain so not sure how they'll get their steps in.

I have a Fitbit One. I keep it my pocket of clip to my bra when I don't have a pocket. I didn't want one to wear on my wrist. I love it. I have been struggling this last month trying to get at least 5000+ steps in a day. I did well with that in January & February, but here in March I have been averaging 3000-4000 steps. I think because I have a lot of sewing projects that need to get done, that I haven't been walking as much.

Yes! I told the seller that God used him to answer my prayer - I wanted to give God the credit and praise- the seller just said that it was a thank you since I bought two from him. emoticon

Some of the fitbits are waterproof so much so that you can swim with them on. So dishes are no problem. The bands are a bit annoying to get on and off (might just be my fumble fingers). I saw online that there are magnetic watch bands (no clasp then). I have not worn a watch in decades but am surprised that I've gotten used to it for the most part. I have sensitive skin so I get a little itchy sometimes. There are still some pocket pedometers made by fitbit. I saw a zip and one called one, I think, on ebay.

The fitbits have been so motivating to the kids. It vibrates at 10 of the hour to let you know how many more steps you need to get the 250 goal. They get up and get their steps in. We homeschool and yesterday they were walking around the house wwhile reading their text books. I would have been so dizzy if I had done that!! emoticon I am finding it motivating too to get my steps in.

Hope you all have a great day! emoticon

My fitbit arrived yesterday. It arrived early and came with both bands and a charger! It was supposed to just be the pebble (watch part). I messaged the eBay seller and he confirmed that he had not made a mistake. What a blessing and answer to prayer! See my son's band was stuck in transit somewhere between Houston, TX and here in PA. USPS could not give me any further info except that it would arrive late. He was so disappointed but trying not to show it (he's 13). he was looking forward to wearing it especially to Youth Group last night. When I saw that mine came with both a small and large band I told ds look how God provided for you! He needed a large and I needed a small band. We were both able to wear our fitbits! This may sound goofy but it was a huge blessing to us and an unexpected way the Lord answered my prayer for my son! Thank you Lord for caring about even the little things in our lives!

Hi team!

So my dd's fitbit arrived late last week. It does seem to motivate her to get her steps in. YAY! Plus, it shows me through the app when she goes to sleep and wakes up which is helpful b/c she's been quiet but staying up too late! My son's is to come today but it's only the fitbit pebble (the clock face thingy) and his band won't arrive until Thursday or Friday. I ordered my pebble with my son's but it isn't arriving until next week! Oh, well. They are at least excited. DS has already lost about 8 lbs the last 13 days on the whole30. I'm down maybe 3. You're not supposed to weigh yourself until the end of the 30 days but...

I will say that preparing healthy foods take a whole lot more time (and dishes!!). lol Might not be so bad if the dishwasher worked. Last night I made a Chicken Fried (cauliflower) Rice. It was good. My son liked it better w/o peppers that I added to it.

Carrie, I am so glad that you found someone who could help you heal your body!

A_NEW_CHAPTER, that is super that you've been able to keep with your exercise/steps goal! Do you have a fitbit or something similar? I just bought 3 off of ebay (cheaper) for the kids and me hoping that it will motivate us to MOVE! Hubby didn't want one. I am not familiar with the Beck book; I'll have to look that one up. Praying the Lord will reveal to you what you need to do and give you wisdom.

It is so great to be able to be back to SP! The last few years have been rough but God is Sovereign and good! I've had some success over the last few years losing weight but have been stuck losing the same 5 lbs for the last year+. I tease that I've lost over 500 lbs by losing those same 5 lbs 100x. Currently, I am on day 7 of a Whole30. My brother's doctor told him about it and he had success in January doing it (lost 20 lbs) so my son and I thought we'd give it a try. It's an elimination diet (no sugar, no dairy, no grain) to help you discover what causes weight gain or inflamation. It's not fun but hoping and praying it will help me get unstuck and more importantly feel better...I am so tired of being sick and tired!

Good Morning! I look forward to meeting everyone and getting this team active again.

My name is Carrie and I have struggled with weight every since I was a little girl. I did well when I started with SP 10 years ago and lost about 30 lbs, but I overdid it and wrecked my thyroid and adrenals. After working with a naturopath doctor I am finely starting to heal and feel better. I look forward to losing again sensibly!
