I have lost a few threads. Sorry for missing this one. I think I will start a new one for the new year.

Glad you were able to get FIL out and about for the holidays.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

We went to the in-laws Christmas Eve. It was as expected We pick up FIL from nursing home and take him to the house where MIL is. BIL lives there too, which is a problem. He did not visit all day, just sat in another room watching TV. They had visitors drop in occasionally which helped. FIL hates the nursing home, but at least it is clean and he has a private room. The aides we have met seem caring. I don't really blame him, no one wants to be in a nursing home. MIL is going to have hip surgery in February.

Dh has a cold so Christmas Day was quiet at home. We got lots of calls and texts wishing us Merry Christmas.

Wow, congratulations on your good eating. I am still sticking with the 16/8 plan. It has helped me curb some of the binges. I juiced today too. That always makes my skin quite happy.

GD is cooking a frittata for dinner tonight. I told her she was getting to be quite the domestic goddess. She liked that.

I think I am pretty much on schedule for all things Christmas. I have a few more stocking stuffers to wrap and need ribbons on a few more presents and then need to sort them out.

This town I am talking about is Brenham. The home of Blue Bell Ice Cream! Plus, where Texas became a Republic. It is pretty country. The Hill Country is beautiful. You need to visit Kerrville, where there is now a prayer and sculpture garden. The sculptures are life size and there is a 77 foot cross on top of the tallest hill in Kerrville in IH 10. It is lovely and peaceful. They keep adding to it. I have been there 5 or 6 times. San Antonio is pretty great, this is a good time of year to visit the River Walk with the Christmas lights. Yes there is no comparison to the lovely mountains where you live! Our mountains are in Big Bend, although small, they are mountains.

You and your friend sound creative.

I wanted to make something yesterday and did not get it done.

Today I go to endocrinologist to find out my A1C. I am sure it is lower since my last visit because I am now taking Trulicity, and it has helped me, even to lose weight.

I love the Hill Country. Of course here those would be called mounds, but I get it. When you have flat all around, those are the hills. Although I am also enamored with San Antonio. And usually, I am not much of a city girl. I much prefer small towns and communities and wide open spaces. Wherever you go in Texas should be nice. It is a pretty great state. One of my other SP friends is from a small community near Houston.

For all the cleaning I did yesterday, I sure made a mess today. It has been fun though and I got a bit more Christmas stuff done too.

My friend the Main Coon cat, drew a very elegant and graceful horse tossing a Santa Hat in it's teeth and I drew a cute, round short legged pony that was fairly simple. I do think it will translate well to a rock though. So, I am happy.

Well I got busy before the dinner party and made candy, peppermint bark and lemon bark and personalized candy jars for each guest, which I put the candy in, of course. I did well only taking a tiny taste test. I plan to do some pretzels dipped in white bark for dh, he loves them.

The party went well. It was a kind of send off for our friend who is moving. I will miss her. She lost her husband over a year ago and we suspected she would move. She will be closer to her large family, and is only a day trip away.

We are talking of moving away from Austin when dh retires and he thinks it will be this coming summer! Just talk for now. Plus he is friends with some other law enforcement in a smaller town (mid sized) between Austin and Houston and they need some part time positions filled. So that may be our new home.

My long time friend called my Windy in school and drew tornadoes beside the name when she passed me notes under the desk. I am either going or at a dead stop. I can get a lot done fairly quickly, but then need to rest and read. We have decided she is a Maine Coon cat (relaxed and calm) and I am a Cocker Spaniel (enthusiastic and energetic).

Love the idea of entertaining with pizza and cookies. Glad you are visiting with friends.

Today was a total stay at home day. I dumped two bags of clutter onto the table and have been sorting through the stuff and putting it away properly. I did a little more work getting the TOPS Contest for January completed and ready to distribute at our next meeting.

Plans for tomorrow are to swim again and then do art at lunch with my friend I mentioned above. Last week's Zooly Art Challenge was Puppies. If the new one isn't posted we decided we were going to draw Christmas Ponies. We have absolutely no problem reverting back to our 14 year old selves.

We are having friends over tonight for pizza and cookies. So I need to go shopping and fix up the house a bit. One friend is moving, but not too far away that we can't go to visit on a day trip.

I had my hair cut Monday. Today I need to wash it and I have my doubts that I can get it to look like Lisa did. It will be OK, anyway because it is a good cut. It is still holding up this morning.

Other than swimming this morning followed by a brief glimpse of sun that Buds and I grabbed and drove straight to the dog park, I have been home working on TOPS stuff. I think I spent about five hours on it. The sad thing is that when I was working I could do the same chores in about an hour. However, as a retiree it was a luxury and fun to work at a pace that suits my personality.

Good News:
Sis called and is doing much better. Thinking the prayer is paying off. They are not going to assisted living. They have one week of 24 hour in home care starting tomorrow. She is so ready to go home. The team will reassess their needs after the week.

Former student messaged me and said all was well with the battery replacement for his pacemaker. He also goes home tomorrow.

Fun News:
Sunday: Visited young man in hospital and rode the Tram because it was right outside his room. Love doing touristy things close to home. It was a bucket list item so glad I did it. It truly was fun. Then visited DS, DIL and GKs.
Yesterday: Christmas shopping with GD followed by Paint Night Party
Today: Bus run to University with GD so she could find best route to her classes. She found a Sushi Bar with conveyor belt. Cute little Asian woman came out to greet us and welcome us in. How could I say "no". Turned out to be wonderful experience and wonderful food. This was followed by our TOPS Christmas Party. Great healthy potluck and wildly fun White Elephant Bingo.
Tomorrow: Was going to beach, but wind warnings and possible flooding and mudslides in the coast range are keeping me home. I think I need a day of rest anyway.

Don't Ranger cookies have oatmeal in them. I remember liking them, but can't remember what they taste like.

SP turned my last Bud's pic sideways. I cropped on this one and hope they won't turn it. I have yet to figure out how to stop that. Anyway he is sporting his life jacket and new light up collar so we can be seen when we walk in the dark and rain at night. The life jacket keeps him warm and dry, it has reflective strips and in our current monsoon he can float if need be.

Buds makes me smile.

Sorry about your student and the others. Perhaps the sister and bil should stay at the assisted living? It might ease the burden on your niece.

Today I am fine. I am doing well in spite of all my issues.

Maids coming today. I am blessed. The house is organized and festive, now it will be clean, too. Might invite some friends this weekend. I hope to start dh's favorite cookies this afternoon. They are called Ranger Cookies. His mom used to make them and he loved them. I don't have her recipe, she could not find it (on purpose?). But I found one in a cookbook she gave me from the SPJST, I don't know what that stands for except Slovenia is one of the S words, lol.

afib has to be scary. And of course that is a huge reason for fatigue. I kind of rely on my heart behaving itself. I think I have a sense of entitlement and I just need to be extremely grateful. Glad you are taking good care of yourself.

A former student of mine in his late 20s just messaged me. He has been on everyone's prayer chain since early morning. He has been on a pacemaker since he was a baby. His pacemaker is not working and he has been on an external device. He has been in the hospital for two weeks trying to get in shape to have it replaced.

My niece told me the doctor wants my Sis and BIL to go temporarily to an assisted living facility while she is healing. That is a blessing. I hope it is the one their good friend lives at.

So anyway, now that I am not worrying about those three people in my life, I am feeling much better. Buds and I had two good walks today and he is barking at me again. He is so bossy. I am currently ignoring him.

Oh, sorry about the hives.

I lost a day due to afib episode. I have not had one since August. This one was longer, 10 hours! Called doctor office and they said wait it out unless the heart rate went above 135, it did not. It always knocks you out afterward, however.

Today I am staying home and doing laundry and cleaning out the fridge.

I didn't either. I wouldn't have bought it if I read the ingredients. Both soy and corn tend to give me hives which I have now. Not bad, but enough to let me know I need to freeze the tamales that are left and leave the corn and soy alone for awhile.

Buds is barking at something. Guess I should check.

It has been touch and go with the in-laws. She was acting horrible to him before he went to nursing home. Things are better now. She doesn't need to be in the country, however. That's the way it is, though.

Soy Crisco? Did not know there was such a thing, lol.

I am planning to make dh's favorite cookies, hopefully today or tomorrow. I need to purchase the ingredients.

Wondering now if perfecting chili and cornbread wouldn't have been a better idea. A day later and they are tastier. I learned from DIL that I should have used real lard and not the crisco soy substitute I had on hand for making cookies. I added a little more sour cream and some enchilada sauce on top and they weren't half bad, so know they will make good soup making. I am not sure I can bring myself to make another batch for Christmas though. If DIL wants to then I will do it.

I am so glad you still get to visit both your in-laws. I will always treasure the time I got to spend with my parents.

I have never been brave enough to try making tamales. We purchase from people who make them at the holidays. Usually they are loaded with salt.

We are taking tamales, chili and cornbread on Christmas eve to see dh's parents. They are a 2 hour drive. We will pick up FIL from his nursing home and take him to the farm where MIL lives and won't leave. She is in much better health than him. He has vascular dementia and is blind. Hard to see, but we go see them often.

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the party.

I tried to make Christmas tamales. The masa needed salt. They did not turn out very good. Argghhh... Now I will have to eat all them myself. If I hadn't used chicken in the filling, I would feed it to the neighbors chicken. I guess I can freeze them and use them for filler for my veggie soups.

I did go out to lunch with a work friend and her daughter. That was really nice.

Great! I like your new photo.

The party was fun. I came home with a new Christmas decoration which is now on my entertainment center.

Today the kids performed at church, and did a great job! Cute!

Love your ornaments. Your lettering is fantastic.

Son came by today to fix outside faucet and I had him look at my new honeycomb blind to deal with later and he put it up too. I am such a lucky mom. The blind looks great and I love the insulating properties.

Yes, I am better.

Poor Bud! Glad he is better.

I am going to a party this evening. There will be lots of good cooks there who bake, so I will be tested with sweets. I am taking homemade pimento cheese with jalapenos and serving with pita chips. Also beef sausage with bbq sauce. All are the lowest sodium I could find. I am taking ornaments I made for each couple and singles. Photos are on my photo page if interested.

Fun, our book club party is tomorrow night. I will probably just bring Christmas cards.

Buds got his walk. He got sick and had a few rough days. About the time I was ready to take him to the vet he would be better and then take a down turn at night. yelping every time he moved. Yesterday he pooped properly and last night he slept well. Other than a bit low keyed still he seems to be fine today. He never did stop eating. I still think he may have been trying to pass that candy wrapper he ate. We live next to a park and people toss stuff all over. I usually try to pick it up, but sometimes he beats me.

Hope you are feeling better today.

I am having back pain, but soldiering through. Last night I went to our book club Christmas party. We laughed, played games and ate too much. Fun! I took the hostess some ornaments that I have been making with my Cricut machine. She loved them and hung them on her tree.

I am taking more to another party on Saturday.

Still decorating the house, but almost finished.

I hope Bud got his walk.

Sun is shining and we have a high of 43. If I didn't love my kids and grandkids so much, I would probably become a snowbird. Today is fine because I am getting light, but add a thick layer of dark clouds and I feel exhausted. Wish I could switch that thinking to cozy. I love caves, you would think I could embrace dark days with hot cocoa and a good book. I will keep trying.

I swam at noon today. Talked to ex-husband for about an hour. It was not too bad. I kind of stuck my nose in where it didn't belong. I hope it will help mend some rifts between him and his kids. We shall see. For the moment I am turning it over to God.

TOPS is tonight. I finished the sock monkey and am going to give it to one of our members. Long story. I might blog about it.

Well, I would be Buds best buddy if I would just shut this computer and take him for a long walk in this perfect walking weather.

We had two beautiful days in the 70's and today the high will be 60.

The ornaments are fun. I am going to Hobby Lobby to get more supplies and have them done by Saturday for the Christmas party. It is just a simple little thing for my friends.

then to the dentist for cleaning.

Tomorrow is shopping for food and stuff for the homeless. We put things in a stocking and give to the homeless at Christmas. Plus I plan to make cookies for the neighbors and give to them. Dh will get some too.

Fun. Nice you get to be in a warm comfy vehicle.

It is still very dark out and it is almost noon. I think I need to turn on the craft lights (full spectrum) and go for a walk.

Cold and dark days make me want to hibernate.

Painting class sounds fun.

My agenda today is finishing decorating for Christmas. I will also be riding with dh in a community parade this evening in his patrol car.

Glad the squirrels found new homes. I spent an hour yesterday removing over fifty clips so I could remove the dead light strand from the top one third of my tree.

I just have not felt much like cleaning ever since the Book Club. Not sure my issue. I have to force myself to do just the maintenance stuff. Of course it is dark and dreary. Wind and rain was pounding today. Reminded me of the beach. Completely dark before five PM. It feels darkish about 3:30 PM. I turn on the house lights to cheer it up and have been leaving the bottom two thirds of tree lit all night. I need to go buy a strand of lights. Then I can finish decorating and might feel better about the other housework.

I went to another paint party last night. That was fun. I didn't finish my sign post, but I think I came up with a design I like.

Last day for pest control was today. No more squirrels in the attic.

Went to Dr. lab reports were better than last time. Minor UTI, however. All is well.

There were no squirrels in the traps today. The pest control man thinks they moved out yesterday. There will be one more visit tomorrow and we are done.

Christmas decorating has begun on the inside of the house.

Have a great day!

Yes! I didn't know what to call the thing.

The pest control is here fixing holes in the attic and putting screens in vents, which there are many. He will set traps and come back the next two days to check the traps. Squirrels you have to catch and release here, they are considered wildlife. Rats, you can kill. Fine by me!

Dh got lights on the house, finished yesterday. Looks great. I will be doing the inside slowly this week. He got the boxes down for me to go through. I put shatter proof ornaments on the tree because of the kitties. They love to lay under the tree and play with the low hanging ornaments. I might put some glass ones up higher. I have some beautiful glass Santa's that I don't want to see broken.

Well truthfully, I don't know if it is a disc. I just know that the chiropractor can push on my spine in a spot and everything falls into place and I feel so much better. I have learned a few exercises and postures to help stop that lack of alignment too.

Crafting is always fun. I hope you will take pictures and post them on here. I am especially interested in the knit rug. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaQMM74QDPY Is this what you are doing?

Also, have a friend from TOPS who is a crafter and she sells her items at craft fairs and holiday events around town to raise money for her daughter's medical expenses from a heart transplant. She is quite social and really enjoys the connections she makes at these events too.

I feel better. I don't know the triggers. Maybe spending time with in-laws, who drive me crazy, but FIL cannot help it, he has dementia.

Dh got the lights on the house. He goes all out. He needs to get the boxes down for me to do the inside. Maybe next week end.

I played with my Cricut yesterday and made cardstock flowers. Not as easy as it sounds. It will take more practice to get the hang of it. Then I stated a knit rug using a small peg thing that makes a long rope like chain. It gives me something to do while sitting in front of the TV at night.

I did not know a disc could slip in and out. I have one that had slipped backward, L5, so I have a lot of lower back pain. But, like you, if I keep moving it is ok. I am also retired, but would like to do something to make some extra money. I am thinking crafts, but still have not landed on something I love that will make money.

Sorry about the pain. Most of my pain is related to arthritis, over use and a disk that likes to slide sometimes in my upper back. As long as I keep moving and eat healthy, I feel pretty good. My CFS issues can slam me like a truck, but they don't cause pain, just numbing exhaustion. I am pretty good about balancing my life and I am retired, so don't have to push through. Can take a nap if needed. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Dressing sounds like a win and so does buying pies. Much easier to stay out of the nibbling if you don't have to bake them yourself.

I ate five pieces of the candy. I made three kinds. The main one that has become a tradition is the chocolate dip balls. The base is butter, powdered sugar, Eagle Brand milk, coconut and nuts. I don't put in the nuts because DH didn't like them and I have no clue how the younger crowd feels. I held out about a fourth of that batch and added diced marachino cherries to it. I had a half a pkg of melted chocolate bark left over after all the dipping, so dumped a container of mixed nuts in it and spooned them out in small nut clusters. So, I had to try one of each to make sure they tasted good. Then I broke one, so it needed to be eaten and I scraped the bowl, so I counted that as another.

Despite that, I ate less than 2000 calories yesterday and Monday and Tuesday were pretty healthy, so I have knocked off two of the five pounds I gained in the food fest that happened on Friday and Saturday.

I am cooking enchilada meatballs for dinner tomorrow. That should be quite an interesting pairing with turkey. I can't wait to try them. They look devine. I wish I could smell them. I do love spices.

The kids have their favorites. I am no good at candy. What kind are you making?

I got to skip dh's office dinner. That helps me!

I am making a low sodium dressing to take to MIL's and purchased two pies yesterday, pecan and apple.

We can do this. We can get through the holidays without having a crash. We can keep up the water the nutrients and the exercise and keep the carbs at a minimum. If I mess up, I just need to get back on the health wagon the next day. Oh and we need good sleep and adequate rest periods between all the fun.

Sorry about the weight but that meal sounded really good.

We have not heard any noise in the attic since the weather warmed. It did get cooler today, but not as cold as the first part of last week.

I did well at the church's Thanksgiving dinner. I did not eat a lot of carbs and only 3 bites of dessert. Half my plate was green vegetables.

Lab work tomorrow.

We had an opposum under our house last year. DS blocked the entrance and set a live trap for him too. Luckily, he was outside when we blocked his entrance, but I checked the trap daily. Then I heard him trying to get in one night. So was glad he was safe and not under the house.

Heading to a theater production in a few minutes. A DIL of a good friend is in it. I love theater. Should be fun.

Book Club was great. Everyone loved my food and stayed for three hours, so I felt really good about this. Unfortunately the carb fest put on five pounds in two days. It took be four weeks to lose three pounds. Will have to do some juicing next couple days to shake it off. I hope it is an easy shake off. Hoping it was the oversalted garlic bread. Although I must have ate a bazillion calories.

Wow! Lucky book club. We just have finger foods at my book club.

I had an MRI this week. I have to take a pill for it. A friend took me and I bought her lunch after. We had a good time.

Then next day pest control came. Found out we have been having squirrels. After Thanksgiving, they will come fix the places they can get in and set traps. Will come for two days after to check the traps. Squirrels they have to trap and release. Rats they kill. Glad it wasn't rats! Ewww.

It hasn't been raining, so I have been walking Buds instead of using the treadmill. It is dark early now so I might want to consider a ten minute walk at the gym in the evening. Thanks for the idea.

Today, I am swimming by myself and then I will get some of the ingredients for dinner at the book club. I am going to make a carb loaded meal. Spaghetti is generally fail proof. So, spaghetti with garlic bread and a new salad recipe, I want to try a baked Danish squash recipe if I can find precut squash at Safeway and my chocolate cream cheese cake. The noodles I plan to use are a blend of veggies and organic. I like them and they are not long and sloppy. So book club with just have to be bold and try colorful shell shaped veggie noodles. I told them to bring their own drinks. I have given up trying to find the right wine or mixed drink. It is always a fail, and I don't drink and two of our newest members don't either, so it is cider and tea that I will be serving.

I lost 8 pounds recently and am at another plateau. I plateau when I sit too much. Soooo... even though it is cold outside, I need to get moving again! I do have a treadmill, I will get on it following this.

There were three peony bulbs in the packet instead of one. Whoohoo! I guess since they came from China they wanted to make sure at least one was viable. Anyway, I planted them in the three different places I had been considering in the yard. Talk about a win.

Fun day yesterday. I swam with friend and she updated me on her NaNo story. Then we had lunch out and drew cute Kittens for the Zooly Art challenge on Facebook. Went to TOPS after that and shed another eight tenths of a pound. Four weeks in a row now.

Today dh is off and we are having a quiet cold day. I will be cooking and cleaning.

My husband was Catholic and I took religion classes twice. I never joined. I had issues with some of their laws. I don't remember collection being passed at the Catholic wedding or funerals I attended.

Maybe it was something the couple wanted to do to help support the church or a specific mission.

I could see where some people might find it awkward. I can easily pass a collection plate on. Not so when I was young. I would have been embarrassed and worried what others would think if I didn't put a correct amount of money in it.

In fact I am guessing Miss Manners would say it was a no no unless the couple had specifically stated in the written invitation this was going to happen instead of presents and what the cause was for.

However, this may have been out of their hands and a church policy to pass collection at every mass.

Sun is shining here. I need to plant my peony. It came all the way from China. I bought it on Amazon and did not know or might have skipped it. However, the price was right and I couldn't find any local. Besides it will be fun to watch my Asian flower grow.

Yes, they renewed their vows. We had a great time. It was a lovely party. We danced more than we have in a long time.

The mass was strange to me and they took a collection. Is this normal?

Dh surprised me today by cooking breakfast this morning, this is rare.

Good work. I gained two pounds. I think it was the peanut M&Ms at the theater and my two days of over 2500 calories. Hope I can get on top of it before weigh in at TOPS on Monday.

That is true because your friends do not care about the cobwebs.

I have been doing a lot of errands this week and as a result, have lost 3 pounds. Nothing else has changed. So I guess I need to walk the big box stores more often, lol! Might get expensive, though.

Sounds really quite nice.

I did major clean up for book club for Friday and then checked my calendar and it is next Friday. Need to get some more invites out. I think I need to take a page from Erma Bombeck too. Have the friends over and don't worry about the dust and cobwebs. Or whether or not I can cook.

I am feeling even better today. Cleaning out linen closet because we purchased new towels for both baths. We also got a new shower curtain and nice rug for guest bath. It looks good.

We also purchased peg board for craft room which dh will start on today. A friend brought over some plastic boxes so that my organization will look uniform. Getting there! I am blessed.

Inner Space. That was the one we were headed to and never made it. Now she is 80 and caretaker of her wonderful husband. So she is not willing to leave him alone nor is she interested in humoring me so much now.

Went to Carlsbad when I was twelve and could walk the tour. It was fabulous. The Oregon Caves are pretty majestic too. That tour is about an hour. I think Carlsbad had a three hour tour, but mom chose the one hour one.

Wish you felt better. Went to visit my sick daughter and after I got home, started getting the headache, swollen glands, severe fatigue . That lasted about an hour. Now I just feel like I need a nap.

Couldn't sleep and got up at 6:30 to drive an hour for phase two of the bone density scan. They were able to save what they got last week when the power went out. They only needed to take two more pictures. So it was a long drive for a quick appt. Something compelled me to drive by daughter's work. I found her punching out for her break. Talk about perfect timing. She was still hacking and couldn't talk much and looked a tad grey. I bought her some peppermint oil and EmergenC gummies. Hope they help.

Anyway, lack of sleep last night is my need for a nap. Tonight at 6:30 is NaNoWriMo kickoff at the library. That will be fun. Glad my little round of CFS was very short lived.

Yes, Natural Bridge Caverns? Not north. There is one on the way to Georgetown, north, Inner Space Cavern. I have been to both. Have you been to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico? The best.

I had fatigue yesterday, could not do much. Today I am feeling better.

I think it was the birthday party and dealing with FIL on Sunday. We did get to see the babies, born to my nieces a month apart. He was lucid so we took him to the farm. It lasted until about 3 pm and he got agitated. Too many people, I think. We took him back.

If you live North, isn't there a fantastic cave system near you? I can't think of the name of it. Several years ago Sis and I were going to it when her ancient Volvo died just outside the Volvo dealership. That was an adventure too. We got to ride in the tow truck. We both felt totally blessed that we were able to get off the freeway first and that the Dealership was in site.

I am kind of a cave fan. Long ago we went tot he Longhorn Caverns. They were as pretty as a Georgia O'Keefe painting.

Yes, it is the opposite side of town from us, so about an hour away.

No he is not a minister and has never been. He is in law enforcement, a Sergeant. We do go to church, though. LOL.

Great on the weight. I had some chocolate yesterday, so was bad too. We will do well today!

I am also feeling more energetic.

My sister lives in Lakeway. Do you live near her?

I am just grateful my friend does not need to take the metformin with the dietary changes. We swam 45 minutes today. She is getting her strength back quickly.

For some reason I thought your husband was a minister at a church. Or does he do both?

Down almost a pound at TOPS tonight. I will continue counting calories this week and try to keep 2200 cal my top number. Last night I had 2900 cal. That was not a good thing.

I am happy to be feeling more energetic again lately.

I hear bad things about metformin. I am taking Trulicity. To me, it is a wonder drug. It is injected, once a week. You cannot even feel it.

Dh is off for 2 weeks, but he just left out of town to help his mom out for a few days. Then we will go back Sunday to celebrate her birthday with family, age 84, and his is this week, too, age 63.

Next week he will do my craft room and we will have a couple of days of fun, as well.

He is so ready to retire. He is in law enforcement and it is more of a young man's thing, although he is in the upper ranks.

Congrats on the weight loss.

Doctors put my friend on metformin and she hated it. He acupuncturist told her to try eating a grapefruit before bed and compare her numbers. She did and found that the numbers on metformin or on grapefruit were similar. Talk about win win. She gets to eat something tasty and feel better too.

I have been counting calories all week without trying to cut out foods. My highest day was 2400 cal and lowest 1100. I think I am down a pound. We shall see. Weigh in is tomorrow.

I used to hate numbers, but decided to try to embrace them. I am not being too exacting. Not weighing and measuring, but doing best guess and rounding up. I am also sitting down to eat with the Daily Word and am finding that soothing.

I have lost 6 lb.

Our normal this time of year is the 80's, we are in the 60's and more rain is predicted this week. I just hope dh does not have to go back out to the lake.

He was tired yesterday so he rested mostly. We had a great meal late afternoon and did not need to eat supper. Even cheesecake and my BG was good today, so it did not hurt me. I had just a sliver and gave him the rest.

I have been taking diabetes meds again. My BG is normal and I have lost 5 lb. Miracle drug!
We are getting lots of rain and flooding along the rivers and lakes close by. I do not live on a river or lake so we are fine. Was worried about some friends on Lake LBJ, they are not flooded., thankfully,

Not sure if it is Spark or my computer, but typing is slow today!

Without the melatonin, I have been sleeping!

It is cold and raining here in Texas. So our tradition is to make chili. I already had some ground beef, thankfully, the stores will be sold out. Chili, cornbread and greens for dinner.

Yesterday I did not feel good. I am better today. I did make it to church but never felt myself. We usually go out to eat after and I did not even feel like doing that.

I wish I felt like yesterday. I walked over three miles outside on three different walks, swam for over 30 minutes. Felt good all day.

Today mopping floor and putting on shoes exhausted me. I did half a lap around the park and muscles felt wobbly. Arggghhh.......

I am sluggish today. I think I need to go ahead and purchase some melatonin today.

Love that hair cut on you. Have always loved your hair color and I think that cut really shows it off nicely. Anyway, nice picture of the two of you.

Woke up feeling wonderful today. Easily walked Buds for a mile and felt I could do an extra one. But didn't because I am heading to the pool shortly and did not want to hit the fatigue wall.

Hope you all are feeling as energized.

Getting those things checked out is important.

I recently had eye exam and bone density. I am now taking calcium and Vit D. Have cataracts too, but they just said they were small and did not give me a time line.

Getting old is not for sissies.

Today I plan to cook, do laundry and clean.

I need to purchase melatonin for sleeping.

Why does going to the eye doctor and getting eyes dilated make a person feel like they have been beat up? I wonder if I just mentally and emotionally spend to much energy resisting it.

Good news, despite the fact that my closest friends do not have vitreous detachments apparently they are normal for our age and my eye doctor has them too. Optic nerve healthy. eye pressure significantly down from last time. He doesn't know what that means. I am thinking it means I have eaten less sugar and more veggies. He said the fading of colors and need for more light was like old celophane tape. Our lenses age like that. He said that it eventually becomes cataracts and I have at least ten more years before I will need surgery, so that was good news too.

Next up is the bone density and after that I return to him for visual acuity. I am glad to know all these weird things are just normal aging, but it is frustrating. I want to be strong and healthy. Guess, I need to put on my walking shoes and take Buddy for a nice long walk.

We had pouring rain yesterday. It has rained the last 14 weekends, as well. This will be good for our spring wildflowers, especially the bluebonnets. Monday is supposed to be in the 60s, fall at last!

Grocery day today.

I have gone to them on and off for years. I have had two actually injure me. I do love the immediate relief they give, but it doesn't last. Physical therapy seems to last longer. The current chiropractor is DIL to a very close friend. I was one of her guinea pigs when she was testing for her license.

Herbs for cooking would be different from those in the capsules to swallow. I think the lady was taking Uva Ursi, I have never used that in cooking. I use parsley and oregano the most for cooking.

I have used the Ubiquinol before, will again.

A chiropractor should know what he is doing. I quit going to chiropractors. I did go for years. I am no longer, as a personal choice, on board with chiropractors. I know they help others, so please don't take this in the wrong way.

Maybe I mentioned this. My Sis started giving her husband Ubiqunol mega coQ10 and the dementia seems to have reduced considerably. I have some of that on hand too.

I think it was the liver cleanse pills that were causing my stomach upset. I just recently added the coq10 back into my battery of stuff.

I do add herbs to everything, but they are the ones grown in my back yard. I use them to season food.

Those mega doses of herbs in the liver cleanse are probably not a good thing. Although it was my chiropractor who recommended them.

I don't take E. I take D, Calcium, CoQ10, and Vitamin B supplements. I used to take E but it has been a long time since. I don't remember it breaking me out.

The collagen I tried caused extreme fatigue, more than normal. I feel better without it.

Nephrologist says not to take herbs at all. You don't know their purity and there is no standard on them. Plus, he says certain ones can harm the kidneys, even if a book says they are good for kidneys. He had a dialysis patient who took some herb that some book said she should take for kidney function. It made her worse and had to be on dialysis. She is no longer alive. I ready side effects for everything on Web MD.

Question: Does anyone here take vitamin E? I used to take a fairly large dose for years in the 1990s hoping to keep my brain well oiled, but thought it might be contributing to some other factors as it promotes estrogen. Quit taking it over ten years ago. Recently tried it again and immediately broke out in pimples. I remember having pimple problems back during that time too. Did not clue into that it might be the E. Anyway, I quit taking it again and have been cutting the capsules open and rubbing the oil on my sun spotted wrinkley skin. Not sure it is doing any good.

So what has been your experience with vitamin E good, bad, indifferent? Thanks.

Well here we are. A week into a new season and it is finally feeling like Fall weather here. Plenty of rain today. Makes me want to paint rocks between whipping the house and car back into shape after being gone three days. I managed to gain three pounds too. Hope to shake that off before Monday.
