Glenna, so glad you had a bit of time to visit with us. I have never grown pumpkins. Squash yes, but not pumpkin.

I used to grow New zeeland spinach, I think that's what it was called. It could grow during the hotter season...I may be wrong on the name...any way it was hardier than reg. spinach.

Wow, good idea to get those brakes fixed. Not good going down that mountain with bad brakes.
Yikes

Nina, good to know it is mold also that effects your breathing. Makes sense really, doesn't it.

It takes a long time in the air fryer to cook whole potatoes or yams. Try cutting them up, or else I would use either the oven or microwave.

You will be so excited to get home, and be able to go through all your "new" junk journal supplies.

Good Evening Girls

Was a fun day.

I got lots of things at a real discount for my junk journaling and scrap booking. It was a lot of fun DH went with us and he just kept saying go ahead and get it. I would have only spent about $5.

We did discover one thing. I had a bad day after going to the thrift stores that one day. All Though I was sure glad to find two button up blouses. Anyway I went with DH and was fine at the “Tuesdays” store that had the craft things in it. We went to a used DVD's and it was a new building and musty smelling. It was no time till I could not breath right and I had used my inhaler only 2 hours before. So now we know the molds bother me. I thought “OH GREAT.” Then I thought at least I know now some of the cause. Talk about environmental asthma. Who would have thought of mold.

DH did stay in the DVD store and got some more “Midsummer Murders.” The show with the second newer guy as the detective. So now we have some different ones to watch.

Have any of you watched “One Foot in the Grave” on BBC? I laughed so hard watching that show. It is about a retired man and his wife. We watched when we got back. My DD wanted us to see it. She laughed as hard as me.

I hope you all do not get tired of me talking about my asthma problems. It helps to talk to women that understand. Helps me relieve stress. But I think after I have sent it you are getting tired of hearing about it.

Patty – I got a really good laugh at the picture. I saved it and am going to put it on my facebook page.
I am wondering about cooking just a plain yam in the air fryer. I do it in the micro-wave and I just eat them like a regular baked potato. Do you think they would do similar as a baked potato? I really like the ones done in the oven.

Karen – that would be kind of sad to watch your county have that sad story. I love clam chowder. I have made it without the bacon grease and it does not taste as good to me
.
Jan - emoticon emoticon emoticon
That is great on the loss. To lose and not know it. You must be watching it really well. I sure will have to get back to healthy eating when I get home. They eat fast food a lot, even though my DD has cooked all suppers but one.

Good evening all,

I took my truck into town today to have the brake pads replaced. It is good to have that taken care of. I also did some shopping for both mom and I.

Yes, Jan, I did grow pumpkins this year. I had three on the vine. One is ripe already, another one is pretty much ripe and the third is dark green. Not sure if it will ripen. I'll leave it and see. I grow the ones you can eat. Mom and I both will eat pumpkin like you do applesauce.

It was a very beautiful day here. The wind was cold, but the sunshine was beautiful

Good night every body.

TOPS meeting went well and guess what? I won the fruit basket for being the best loser - 2 lb. I didn't realize I'd lost that much. Sad to say we had mostly gains today but I was awfully glad to win. They put either fifty cents or a piece of fruit or veggie in the basket for the best loser. Sometimes it is split two ways. I got 2 bananas, an apple, a granola bar, 2 tomatoes and $5 in quarters.

I had fish and chips and cole slaw for lunch and brought enough home for Bruce's lunch, too.

You know, I didn't have my pen at the class yesterday and I'm hoping some of the info I needed is in their handouts.

Nina, You'll have fun going to the craft store.

Karen, I'm eager to see the clam chowder recipe. During season we can dig clams here but I've never been good at making chowder. Bruce loves it. I've come to the conclusion a little bacon grease and things like that will not be the end of the world. As long as she doesn't call for 2 cups of it in her chowder. emoticon The clams we get (razon clams) are different from what they have on the east coast so I'm interested in seeing how she does it. I didn't see the program about the 13 yr. old girl. How sad!

Patty,

Patty, It's always good to get another year of mammogram done and behind us. That was a race I could enter! I haven't heard of Evercrisp here - I'll have to notice when I'm shopping.

Jan..the balance class sounds interesting. I try to take 5000 mg Vitamin D every day. I have never been able to get my numbers up where the TV Dr says they should be.... 50.

I don't usually watch the NCI programs but last week I watched part of one that was on a 13 year old girl who had been raped by her stepfather. Did anyone watch it? The girl had came from Ohio & the county given was Mercer. That is my county. Holy Moses, my county named as part of that show which was pretty much supporting abortion.

I posted the Clam Chowder recipe. It uses bacon grease so not really healthy but it is good.

Good afternoon Girls,
Here is a funny for you...this one just cracked me up.

Dr. appointment this morning. Mammogram tomorrow morning.
My bp was better than it has been in a long time. 128/72 I think it is from not eating processed food for a few days.

Hubby went to town and shopping this afternoon, just home. Brought lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and the poor mans Honey crisp apple, called Evercrisp. Really yummy. $13 half a bushel compared to $25 for Honey crisp. They don't have that sharp tang in the back of your mouth like Honey crisp do. Supposed to be good for pies too.

Also a rotisserie chicken. Guess whats for supper? chicken and butternut squash. yum

Jan, how did Tops go. I have worked a bit on my corals poncho. I wore my blue one this morning, and got another compliment on it. I haven't started the autumn leaves colors yarn yet.

Karen, I couldn't sleep last night either...have no idea why. Tried to take a nap this afternoon, nope, not happening. I love the movie Molly. An awesome movie.

Nina, We are used to windy breezy days here too. Fun to go back to the craft store...

Well girls, I am going to make the butternut squash in the air fryer.
I think the recipe is 1 TB each oil, bragg's liquid aminos or sauce, and maple syrup, mixed with 1 chopped butternut squash.

Hi ladies

Is sunny here today. They say they are getting winds like we do in the spring. 35 mph gusts. We will be use to it, not sure about Californians. In town it will be cut to less because of hitting buildings and things here.

We plan on going back to the store that had the craft tools and supplies at lower cost. DH wants to go to the used DVD's so we have something else to watch.

Jan – You really appreciate sunny days in Oregon. I imagine more on the coast. I like clouds and rain going through. It would come in and out not just be gray for days like in other states. I think February was the only month it mainly stayed gray.

Karen – hope you get to replace your DVR player. I had to ask my DH tell me what that was.
I hope your clam chowder turns out.

Nina

HI Jan & girls.

I usually have trouble falling to sleep & then have trouble waking up. It is sunny here, too & temp to reach 50.

I plan to work in the kitchen today. I must make that Clam Chowder that Barbara Bush loved. I will share the recipe if it turns out.

I want to replace my DVR recorder tomorrow so have been watching recordings from previous days. I watched two older movies ALICE staring Mia Farrow & MOLLY. Both really good. Molly is about an Autistic woman.

Enjoy your day.

Good morning girls,

How are all of you today?

Karen, I hope you slept wonderfully after the massage.

GLenna, Did you grow pumpkins? Are they jack o lantern or pie kind?

Nina, Do you have a date you plan to return home? It would be very hard having those breathing problems while you're away knowing you do better at home.

Patty, What were you making with the autumny vareigated yarn?

TOPS this morning and it's supposed to be a sunny day. When I picked my son up at Ft. Stevens yesterday it had turned sunny after a cloudy morning and it was so nice.

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday.

Jan
