Karen, Glenna and Nina,
We have had temps in the mid 80's, but not the high ones you girls are having.

Vicki, so glad you enjoyed your party.

emoticon Happy Birthday Vicki! I hope you enjoyed your day. I am coming right up behind you, I'll be 60 in December.

Patty, That is nice you are making the animals for the kids at the cancer centers. Very thoughtful and kind of you.

Karen, We have had a heat wave going here. The heat index was above 100 today. It was 82 in here last time I looked. It may have cooled off some by now. I sat out on the deck for a long time because it was cooler out there.

Jan, I occasionally get those yucky old slugs, too. Especially up here in the back yard. Not quite so often at the garden. They are those big old long ones. They are sure are destructive on the plants. I got an eggplant out of my one raised bed today. It was a surprise. I hadn't seen it until it was full grown!

Iris, So nice to see you stopping by. I often think of you and wonder how you are doing.

Nina, Sometimes a nap is needed. This heat we have been having is tiring. I did can pickles today, but decided not to do veggie soup. It is just too hot.

Good night everyone.

Good Evening Everyone

Made the enchiladas, or I think I can call them that. I just used the filling that I was frozen and thawed. I put it in the middle of whole wheat tortilla, added some cheese and stuck them in the microwave. Put a little light sour cream on top. Kind of the way a burrito is made. They were yummy.

Ended up taking a nap this afternoon. I got real tired and could not get going so knew I needed some sleep. Felt a lot better after and got busy in the craft room.

Breakfast – ½ cup gravy, 1 ½ small biscuits
Lunch – Joanna's sloppy Jo mix (was in freezer made, thawed of course :) on a Walmart bun, a little cheese. A few low salt tortilla chips and watermelon.
Supper – enchiladas, green salad with pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds and Nina's Thousand Island Dressing.
Dessert – Chocolate Banana Treats.

Vicki – what fun with the sample. Yes you are a young thing. I am enjoying the last year of my 60's

Patty – that hippo is so cute.

Jan – sounds like your going to miss that mini van. Did they ever say if they could fix your vehicle?

Just got back from the grocery store. So much easier with the mini van.

Patty, the hippo is so cute! I agree - no tail for a small child to pull off.

Glad the storms are missing you and Karen.

Vicki, You not only had a nice birthday but you get to be a spring chicken!

Karen, you are right, 63 is a spring chicken.

Are you getting those bad storms today?
They are passing below us, way below us.

The teals scarf is done...woohoo

The stuffy hippo is all crocheted. Tomorrow I will stuff it and sew it together.

I think tonight I will try to finish the round ripple.

I need to re-find what I did with the pattern...yikes.

Good Morning Everyone

Happy Birthday Vicki-hope it is a good day for you and less pain in that elbow. I think the cherry cheese cake should take some of that pain away that Jan has ready for our party.

Been up since 5:30. Got my chickens fed, two laps walked (see if that is ok with my knee). Then I went out and pulled all the dead flowers off my new hanging flower. Hoping that will keep it blooming and not go to seed, so to speak. Then I did my hot cocoa and my Bible study. Then listening to a you tube of some more junk journal while folding my morning basket of clothes.

It is suppose to be 96 today. I think California shared their heat wave with us. So will be staying inside during the day.

Thinking about making enchiladas for supper. I already have the filling frozen in the freezer. I bought some green sauce. Figured I could put it in the microwave. Still have some corn bread in the freezer too. I may make some more cornbread in the microwave. I have a recipe of JoAnna's where she did it in the microwave. I remember it being good.

Not too much to do in the kitchen today. I just have to cut up lettuce and have it ready for salads. I cut up the radishes, and cucumbers last night while making our salads. So off the craft room I hope to do some more. Sure been having fun doing that.

Jan – the party sounds like such fun. Think I will have a caffeine free diet soda with that cherry cheesecake. Sure looks good.

Patty – sounds like you have a nice project for the kids. You sound as busy as me with the needlework as I am with the junk journals. Have fun today. Bring some pictures to the birthday party so we can see what you are making of the little stuffed animals.

It's a nice morning here - tomorrow we're expecting a rainy day. Sometimes it heads into Washington instead. We'll see.

I walked around the back yard to see what was growing and watered the rose, the dahlia and some other things. I saw two big slugs! Got the salt shaker and that was that. I need to get more slug bait. I let supplies like that go when we thought we were moving. I also want to decide what to plant in the raised bed. It needs a good going over. There are irises, tulips and borage in there. The borage is an herb and plants itself wherever it want. I think more flowers are needed.

I would like to do the grocery shopping later on today and hopefully will still have the rental car to do it. So much easier putting groceries in and out.

Patty, I got a chuckle out of the trail mix with one peanut. Good way to do it! I don't like the brown or yellow M&Ms so I eat those first. The person who made the trail mix must have done that, too. Lol. Your dinner sounds good. The extra Velveeta and mustard would make it good. It's blueberry season here, too. I saw a U-pick advertisement in the paper. Patty, I love the funmigurumi animals. I googled them and they are so cute. I need to look again to see a hippopotamus. Here's a cat image:

Good morning Girls,
Happy birthday Vicki. emoticon emoticon
Hope your day is special.

That cheesecake looks amazing.

Jan, regarding this picture, remember when we were talking about m&m's a week or so ago?
Well this picture is for us and anyone else that likes them. See how she made it a trail mix by adding 1 peanut?...lol I thought it was funny..

Let's see. last night we had
leftover meatloaf
mac and cheese
from Potful, I always add just a couple slices of Velveeta type cheese to this. It makes it so much richer and creamier. Also a bit of mustard.

green beans
fresh strawberries

We have strawberries, grapes and blueberries in the frig.

strawberries first, then split the rest. We seem to like blueberries on our oatmeal or morning cereal, also walnuts for a bit of protein.

I've been awake since 3. So finally decided to just stay up and come downstairs.

I have decided to make fun little amigurumi animals for the children at cancer clinic. Those kids come in sick, and scared. Maybe a little stuffy will help ease their fear and pain a bit.

The ones I am making are the ones from Funmigurumi by craftybegonia.

They are little squares made up into silly colored animals. I think they are just the cutest things, and started on the Hippo last night,
Seems to whip up pretty fast, the hardest part will be sewing them together.

This hippo will be green, pumpkin and a medium brown, all mixed together.

It is so fun. Last night I made the body, and started on the muzzle.
It has a tail, but I won't make that, as it might be able to be pulled out by a small child.

Should be able to finish it today.

Oh, remember that list I stated regarding my wip's, (works in progress).
I forgot that I have a few more rounds to a round ripple to finish too, along with the other projects.

So much yarn, so little time.

Have a blessed day Girls, and I hope
Vicki has a SUPER DUPER BIRTHDAY. emoticon
